Extremely disappointed with our visit to Gail’s in Southfields , staff were pleasant but didn’t seem concerned with customer care, lacked basic service needs , and probably would benefit from communication training . Food amazing but uncaring staff 🙁🙁🙁

I am a regular goer at Gail's, I love the coffee first and foremost and many of the delicious pastries and savoury options. Staff is always efficient and polite, it is always a joy visiting. I am here to praise Rachel, an amazing staff member who was serving me on December 27th I think, or another late December evening. She made my day with her courtesy and amazing customer service. Gails Southfields has a gem right there and such staff makes the products better! The world is a better place with staff like Rachel! Thank you so much and happy new year

On our way back from Wimbledon to the station, we decided to stop by at Gail. We weren't disappointed. The brioche, croissant and sandwich was good. And served with a smile!

I brought my son to London for a long weekend for his birthday and after having breakfast at Gail’s on the first morning he insisted we went there both mornings after that. Their chocolate almond croissants are the best ever!! Great service too. Thank you!

Dont know how they recruit but the staff cant even smile. Maybe they are paid too little or something but its really hard when you hardly get a shrug. The tables were pretty dirty and the service was slow. wouldnt mind but the prices are top dollar. Go to somewhere like Dropshot and see how its done. Such as shame as I have always wanted to live gails but the service is shocking.

Walked in for a light brunch at 11:30. Service initially was really good however we ended up having several items off our order missed. There seemed to be a bit of miscommunication between staff members - however we wanted to say that the manager on shift was incredibly helpful, informative and quick. Thanks!

I am local and used to come a lot when first opened but in last year all the lovely initial staff left, citing issues with management, and now just a load of new faces that can barely crack a smile. They are simply just rude and look like they don’t care about the service. Place feels old and coffee is no good anymore … no barista that seems compétant. Only go there now v occasionally when other coffee shop is so full I can’t wait … but decided today won’t go back at all. Terrible shame, in the heart of Southfields… should be booming. Looks and feels depressing .. makes me feel it too !! Bye now Gail’s .. I won’t be coming back.

Seriously guys, customers should not be treated as a nuisance! Realise that working on a ‘come back quick’ attitude will secure your long term jobs and the value of your business. Grumpy staff leads to poor reviews- Get it together!!!

This evening I was given the opportunity to taste the Christmas baguette. It is filled with sultanas, orange and fennel. I had gone in for the mixed olive sourdough baguette - a personal favourite which I have rather too many times previously eaten in one sitting - but I was persuaded to try the festive offering. I'm glad I did. It's literally bursting with sultanas, which go really well with the moist bread and a satisfyingly browned crust. Then comes a surprising change of taste direction with the fennel and, after a few bites, a bold orange flavour reaches the palate. I tried to pace the speed at which I ate this but failed, though far from miserably. This is such a great coffee shop with decent coffee, a wide range of things to eat - not just the bread baked on site but also a fridge of pots and produce - and a pleasant, well lit seating area. At the back, behind a thick vault door - this Gails used to be a bank - is a more unusual and secluded area, with a little less distraction than out front. All the staff are approachable and genuine. They have been hampered lately by the UK's supply chain issues which has meant some regular items have not be available. It's never bothered me, as I've seen it as an excuse to try something else from their varied menu.

Lousy service. Avoid at all cost! Food is alright, coffee is nothing special but the staff just don't care. I went there for coffee to meet up with fellow parent and while there was nobody else in the place, and they could see I entered, struggling with pram and baby, they couldn't be asked to bring me the coffee and requested that I go up to the counter to pick it up. Sure, that makes sense of you're busy but when you're not, it just shows you just don't care about your customers. Top advice, walk 50m down the road to Drop Shot where in contrast, the staff cleared a table they were using to accommodate me with pram... That is how customer service is done.

Having never visited a Gails bakery before, we stood at the table in the door way with the ‘track and trace’ sign on it. However we were shouted at across the room by a lady behind the till asking what we were doing. We asked if we could have a table to which she laughed back and said ‘HA, we’re not table service’. This was not needed and left our group feeling highlighted and unwelcome. When served at the till we were also met with very sharp responses. Didn’t feel welcome at all and we were really looking forward to being regulars having recently moved near the area.

Felt very unsafe going there this morning. Guests allowed in without mask and a person of staff behind the till without mask. Very disappointed

Had a lovely brunch today with my daughter. I had the veggie rowers with delicious Cacklebean eggs, mushrooms, roasted tomatoes, spinach , halloumi and sourdough toast. Tomatoes were very sweet and eggs super delicious too. My daughter’s new turkish was excellent too, served with coffee and matcha latte.
