Terrible, utterly rude and disappointing customer service, in the first instance, the cashier looked me straight in the face(he seemed emotionless, tired, deflated and unmotivated) and served the person who came into the store after I did, i.e., she was behind me in the queue. Then while I was waiting for my coffee in the second queue, the barista (a small white male with a clear and irritating Spanish accent) served a different woman (behind me in the queue) before he did me. When I pointed out that I was before her, the barista said: "it does not matter", and when I responded: "it does matter there is a queue for a reason", he responded with: "it does not matter the coffee is the same coffee anyway and just 30 seconds and your coffee will ready ok". Guys I have been a customer of Gayles for the previous 7 years, and this is terrible customer service, I often go to the Kings Road branch and it is a completely different experience, they are respectful, and even ask for your name when taking the order so to avoid this type of issue in Gloucester road. The staff in Gloucester Road seem tired and unmotivated, Gayles HR department needs to consider some refresher, motivational and customer service training or move the staff to a different branch for a change of environment that may help to change their attitude but they are doing themselves and the Gayles brand no good at all if they continue in this way in Gloucester Road branch. Very poor.

The staff at this Gail's are not exactly rude, but neither do they show any sort of emotion except perhaps total indifference. No interaction except to tell you where to wait. They do acknowledge when you walk up but not with a smile or in any sort of friendly way. I stay in this part of town a lot and go here every day when I do because I love the taste of the decaf coffee. Gail's closes down their coffee machine sometimes up to 30 min. before closing and tell you the machine is down for maintenance which is quite obviously not true. Currently they are unable to make iced drinks because their ice machine doesn't work which is a common occurrence. "You can have a hot drink." I only do iced lattes. But I won't be going back to Gail's even if they ever get their iced machine fixed. When you walk 10-15 to get to a place looking forward to your coffee as I do, only to be told 20-30 minutes before they're supposed to close that you cannot have a coffee, it's pretty annoying. Especially since it is so obvious that the staff shut the espresso machine down whenever they feel like it so that they can walk out the door as soon as the store closes. "No coffee, maintenance." they say with a smirk and then glance at each other smiling. Goodbye Gail's.

We discovered this after bakery spending several mornings at another bakery down the road. It's a chain - with branches in Bloomsbury and Manchester as well. Make sure you try their almond croissants. Cinnamon buns are decent as well.

We got our breakfast from here every day when staying over 5e road in London. Everything was delicious! Can’t understand why it has three stars as it is much better than this.

Appalling service, visited there on a Saturday morning, the girl on the till was rude & dismissive when asked questions about the food items. Also each item had an extra £1 charge on it to eat in, we were given a dirty silver tray with our items on them & there was no where to sit even though we had been charged extra. The only good thing was that the mini mushroom quiche was nice. But overall wouldn’t go there again because of the rude staff.

We became a bit addicted to Gail's incredible coffee while we were staying at a hotel opposite. It's super smooth and delicious with oat milk. Muffins and pastries are delicious.

We live to start our day with Gail’s bakery. My first place to visit when arriving London. What I didn’t like is that they don’t heat the food ( the chebata mizarell n tomato was too hard, it would b better if they toasted)

Excellent coffee, chai latte and large pastry. Staff are friendly and the cafe has a lovely relaxed and warm feeling which was appreciated after the rain this afternoon. The menu of sandwiches, salads and cakes looks delicious and the prices are reasonable too. Might pop back before I leave London.

I wish I could give this location ZERO stars. The customer service is terrible and there is no appreciation for the customers, that are you know.. essentially paying for the workers wages. If it wasn't for your customers, you wouldn't have an open store. In an economy where businesses are shutting down faster then we can comprehend, you think there would be some pride and accountability as an employee. To anyone thinking about going to this location, there are TONES of other small businesses in the area, so please please consider going anywhere else but here.

I thought being in the midst of a pandemic and lockdown that the least Gail's Bakery would do is cover all the sandwiches, cakes and pastries on display on the counter right where the staff are standing with no masks on, breathing all over the produce on display and right where customers are hovering over them but it seems like they don't cover the produce on display. This should be a no brainier to cover them with a glass cloche dome or something else to help protect them from germs landing on them if someone coughs or sneezes. The chicken sandwich I got was really dry and hard and the cheese scone was disgusting. I threw it out after one mouthful. Really dry with a weird aftertaste. Plus they were so expensive.

Local Gail’s bakery / coffee shop on Gloucester Road. Bit of confusion about whether you need to mask up to buy your flat white and at what point you can take your mask off to drink the thing, but said that you can’t fault their chocolate and almond croissant and the staff - of both genders- are easy on the eye. I’m sure I’ve broken a law somewhere with that comment.

None of the pastries on display at the counter where staff are serving customers and customers are leaning near are covered. They could easily use glass cake domes to cover them and stop potential germs from getting on them if someone accidentally touches them, coughs or sneezes on them. Especially in the current covid-19 climate where hygiene and prevention of germs spreading is of upmost importance. The staff seems pretty clueless about what's inside some of the products also. "I think so" is not the answer I was looking for when I asked what was inside the chicken bun. £5 was pretty expensive for a tiny chicken bun also.

Got attracted to the shop due to the bread displayed. Ordered scrambled eggs on bread and a flat white for dine in. Restaurant not exactly busy but there were lots of tables which needed clearing, staff were hanging around chatting away instead. After 20 mins wait, the scrambled eggs on bread has still not arrived so had to go to the counter to check the order and they claimed the food just arrived in the food lift. Hmmm I didn't buy that, eggs were cold even though the bread got a bit soggy, however, can tell the bread should be pretty good IF it was served immediately. Unfortunately, staff didn't apologize. Restaurant then got busier and of course, lots of tables were still not cleared and really need to clean up. For take away, i would go again but no more dine in. Not going to pay 6 quid for cold eggs and soggy bread.

Evitar a toda costa.

We are here in London from the United States and so happy we found Brown & Rosie in Nottingham! We spent three weeks traveling around England… Brown & Rosie is at the top of our list of favorite places. We had dinner twice and breakfast once. Hamburgers were awesome. My French toast topped with fruit and ice cream was delicious! Not sure when we will back to London but we will never visit London again without stopping in at Brown & Rosie! Thanks so much from an American Tourist!

As long as you have an eternity to send here you should be golden. The service is there, but cannot really see it, food is a lot faster than expected considering it took 30mins to order and only 20mins to get the food. And if you forget to order something you might as well make peace with the fact you won’t get it. Staff is nice, but for some reason four floor staff and two in the kitchen Chen struggled to serve five tables with 20 people in total and quite a few people waiting to be seated had to leave.

Brilliant event, from the planning to the actual event itself. Food was delicious, service was fantastic and everything was just seamless! Kim was always on hand to help in the run up and Clara was great on the day - thanks to the whole team! Going to the pub afterwards in our fancy dress outfits was the perfect end to our time at The Phene. A fabulous work Christmas event.

For many years I used Greenfields where I received consistently outstanding courteous, friendly, and swift service. Now where are they? Food quality was always the highest and prices reasonable but creeping up forced upon them by rapacious landlord happy to cede their territory to the growing French / Belgian community. Was it not Bonaparte who referred to the English as a "nation of shopkeepers"? Is it not ironic, therefore, that where he could not win at Waterloo his descendants could in South Ken....
