Went for the full omakase menu (£65 each for around 15 courses) for my 25th birthday! Have eaten omakase at a few price points around the world and thought it was really well executed and really good timing.

Fantastic place. Staff are very welcoming, including a hello from the chefs as you walk in. The menu is simply laid out with a great choice of food. Good choice of fish on the sushi and nigiri platter, including seabream, seabass, scallops, and more. And it was absolutely delicious, we will be back for sure.

We had the omakase experience and it was amazing. It lasted for just over two hours and everything we ate was so good. The fish was so fresh and it watching our food being made was fun. My only qualm is that the stools are very uncomfortable. They are fine for a bar where you're sitting for like 30 minutes but sitting on them for 2 hours was not the most pleasant.

A very good light omakase experience for a great price (£35). Although the karaage was a slight disappointment (lacking in flavour compared to the sushi before), the cuts of fish were thick, fresh, and flavourful. I especially enjoyed their scallop nigiri as it had the perfect balance of sweetness from the fish, savouriness from the rice, and brightness from the yuzu.

Solo curiosidad... De todos modos: *****

Although Gaijin probably serves the best sushi in Birmingham, the sushi are still lack of flavour. Can't really taste the salmon and tuna in the Rainbow roll. With that being said, they are still pretty decent comparing to all of the sushi places in Birmingham. But with this price, I expect more.

The sushi itself was vibrant and fresh tasting, truly a delicious experience for the tastebuds. We had the Omakase, which is a selection of sushi tailored to which ingredients are freshest that day, selected and orchestrated by the chef. Everything felt thoughtful and expertly put together. Each dish was described for us as it was presented. All the staff were professional and friendly. Our sushi chef (sorry I can't remember name) also taking the time to chat with us towards the end of our meal. Incredible. A relatively affordable omakase experience to remember! The service from the attentive and chatty staff was flawless, offering their knowledge and expertise in the kindest way. A special shoutout to the chef who knew his stuff, and made the night wonderful, chatting away as he worked right in front of us. The sushi itself was insane, specifically the torched scallops, yellowtail and medium fatty tuna, all of them blew our minds. It’s sushi like we’ve never had before. We both genuinely gasped at the first mouthful of yellowtail, and couldn’t believe our tastebuds with the scallops - truly magnificent. The atmosphere is buzzing, but in an intimate, relaxing kind of way, and the whole night was impeccable. As someone who has often shied away from up market sushi due to the price or believing it couldn’t be THAT good due to its simplicity, tonight has made me realise how ignorant I was to the art. Cannot get over this to be honest, it has made us both want to get straight back in and try some more! Thanks again to a great team and for some top notch food.

The rice has either been overnight or chilled for too long. They’re ice cold and dry, has no viscosity or luster, which breaks the sushi down completely. The chef should be aware that this kind of quality is not appropriate to serve to anyone. I understand that restaurant business can be quite hard now, but the reduced standard cannot be the solution.

We opted for the chef's selection, a few plates of Aburi Nigiri seared tuna and yellowtail, I was impressed by the quality of sushi on offer. Everything we ate was delicious, the seared tuna, in particular was our favourite. While the service could have been a bit swifter, the staff's friendliness, prompt apology and complimentary serving of katsu prawns as a gesture of goodwill for the minor food delay more than made up for it. Food was delicious. The miso soup had vegetables in which made it extra special.

**UPDATE - Sadly now closed!** Incredible experience! Wonderful service, absolutely amazing food, excellent quality drinks. We went for the bottomless summer menu, tried all the vegetarian dishes which were all outstanding and amazing value. The staff were really attentive and warm. Best Japanese food we’ve had outside of Japan! Made our wedding anniversary extremely special and we can’t wait to visit again with friends. Thank you Sushido!

It was my fiancés birthday on Saturday. We booked a table at 6 for 4 people. We arrived there 15 min before the booking, still at 7 we were not at our table yet. The starters arrived at 7:45! And my fiancée who is celiac and pescatarian received fried chicken on the although we explained her dietary requirements multiple times before arrival and at least 5 times at the restaurant! I spoke to the manager and requested her food to be cooked before the rest to prevent cross contamination. When the chef arrived at the table (he brought the meat and fish on the same tray - MAJOR CONCERN FOR THOSE WHO ARE ALLERGIC TO FISH!), asked for dietary requirements AGAIN even though it was written on his ticket by the manager, but we answered the question as we always want to make sure she doesn’t get sick. He started to cook, rice was ok, salmon was ok. Then he started to cook prawns, chicken, beef and lamb at the same time! Used the same utensils to mix fish and chicken, then put all prawns and chicken on my fiancé’s place even though we told him 5 TIMES by now that she doesn’t eat meat. But it still didn’t finish. He went on to cook beef/lamb again put both on my fiancé’s plate…. At the end of the evening she couldn’t eat anything. As you can imagine she was freaked out about the cross contamination and her meal was £50+ just for her. The manager came to the table afterwards as it was obvious we were not happy and I was noticeably worried about my partner and asked how everything was. We are not the kind of people who complain as we work in the same industry and understand when mistakes happen but I couldn’t stay quiet this time as there was an obvious blatant regard for her allergy and dietary restrictions. So I privately spoke to the manager about our discontent and even though she gave a 20% discount on our final bill after we paid she tried to cover the disaster saying that the chef was new and tried to hand us a fridge magnet and a celebrations chocolate… This was a MASSIVE slap in the face and embarrassing on the company. We never had such a horrible evening like this before, and imagine the frustration as it was my fiancé’s birthday. Particularly as she had a reaction minutes after leaving and is still sick 2 days later!!!! I hope after this night everyone got a full trainings section of allergens and dietary restrictions. I hope this would not happen again to other people but highly doubt anything will be done. I can say we will not be back and warn all of those with ANY dietary restrictions/allergies to stay far away from this place.

Had a great Teppanyaki dining experience at Miyako. Our chef, Orlando, was entertaining and funny, involved all at the table in action. Food was cooked professionally and tasty. All staff was welcoming and easy to communicate with. Thanks

The food was horrendous. The prawns were dry and flavourless. The mussles were awful. The korean chicken was again flavourless. However the staff were very attentive and the service was great. Gave 1 star as I didnt go there for the staff 😭
