Love the decor inside we were at the back but the main room is more lively. There’s a nice mix of Asian dishes as small plates, easy to share and try a few. The nasi goreng and tiger prawns were standout! Also their cocktails were 10/10

One of if not the best meal I've had in Glasgow! Brought my mother here as a treat and I will be running back as soon as I can again because the food was immaculate! Great food, great service, great atmosphere! This is your sign to go, you won't regret it! The spiced ground sausage, prawns and summer greens were the star of the show! And for drinks don't miss out on the ole fashion

First time visiting this place, as a Malaysian, the flavour of the dishes does not match the authentic flavour. Tried 3 different dishes. 1) Crispy potatoes with mayo - has a perfect soft texture in the middle but not crispy at all on the outside. 2) Nasi goreng - the rice were very mush and greasy, it does not taste like Malaysian nasi goreng nor Indonesian nasi goreng. It has a sweeter front flavour to it. 3) Malaysian curry chicken - the presentation looks really good and delicious, after tasting it, it does not taste like how Malaysian curry should be, the dish is also on the sweeter side. Too much lemongrass flavour in it.

Been to GaGa a handful of times to dine in and it’s been so tasty every time. Tonight I ordered a delivery with slight anxiety, as we’ve all been there and been disappointed in a meal not served directly to you in the restaurant just not being the same. This was the complete opposite - again beautiful food, great portions and myself and boyfriend felt full and satisfied. Thank you GaGa for consistency and gorgeous food every time.

Very average restaurant. Got an instruction beforehand on how to order food , which was kinda weird. The food itself was okayish , not the best we had. Decided not to try further dishes / dessert as felt a bit let down. Service was good . The interior of the restaurant is something I liked with brick lined walls.

We had a really lovely dinner here. The service was absolutely fantastic, some of the best we’ve had in Glasgow (shoutout to Zico for that). The atmosphere of the restaurant was also great, once again one of the nicest interiors of any restaurant I’ve been to in Glasgow. The food was all really tasty, and this would probably have been an all round 5 ⭐️ meal if the portions/pricing was tweaked. Each of the mains we got were £14 or £15, and amounted to just a few mouthfuls each (3 of us shared). The mushroom dish - which tasted amazing - was probably the most disappointing at £15 for a really quite modest portion. The mushrooms were also priced the same as the cod with roe, which is difficult to understand. The starters / smaller plates were much more fairly portioned and priced. In total we ordered as recommended - 3 small plates, 3 mains and rice, but we were left wanting just a bit more. I’d definitely return, but I there is work to be done on portioning and pricing here - particularly when competing with other quality restaurants that offer similar sharing-style dishes in Glasgow. To end on a positive, fantastic to have draft lager (not just bottles!) on offer at a more upmarket restaurant. The Pilsners were great.

A small menu done well is exactly what's on offer at Ga Ga in Partick. It's split between small and large plates, and we choose one large and three small (plus rice) between two people, which was perfect. The mackerel with green sambal and pickled pineapple was superb. The cocktails looked great, and we were tempted but settled on a bottle of white from the reasonably priced list. Next time, we'll arrive a bit early and have a cocktail at the bar before dinner. Can't wait to return and try the rest of the menu.

We visited this restaurant for the first time recently, and overall it was really nice. The food was good; not the absolute best food from the region that I've had, but every dish was still tasty. The best of the lot was the mackerel - the sambal was especially lovely and had a nice kick. But the most unexpected pleasure of the evening was the cocktails, which were just as good as I'd hope for at a more dedicated cocktail bar. Not cheap, but between us we tried four and all seemed worth the money. The wine selection looked good too, but the cocktails were so nice that it's hard to imagine getting around to wine there. Service was friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere was good apart from the quite nondescript repetitive music. Unlike some of the other reviews I didn't find it too loud, but it still started to grate a bit after a while. Maybe a bit more variety would be good? Anyway, overall a very enjoyable meal, and I wouldn't hesitate to go back.

Lovely atmosphere, mocktail was delicious. The noodle starter was nice but could do with more garnish. Cod and sichuan vege dish was lovely. We ordered the tamarind prawn but sadly it was mushy and does not taste fresh, the sauce was delicious. Unfortunately i got a bit ill after eating it. Spoke to waitress who took it off the bill. But most disappointing dish was the curry chicken which was supposedly designed to share- there was only one soft piece of chicken- when we asked the waitress she just said it was meant to be like that, was pre cooked and grilled to warm up. Not quite answering our question. Very expensive for ONE piece of chicken. Very expensive meal overall, unlikely to come back- would recommend you take the same amount of money and go to KAPAO for better service and dinner overall.

After looking for an excuse to visit this place for a few months - an opportunity finally presented itself! Managed to book a table at a very short notice (40 minutes short, to be precise), during our recent visit to GLA. All of the dishes we ordered were just superb, maybe a little bit on salty side, but in our opinion that made them authentic, level of spicyness was perfect. The menu is simple yet well-executed, and the atmosphere is fab, plus being dog friendly makes our next visit to Ga Ga a no brainer. Can't wait.

Over-rated, overpriced food. Nice venue. Nice staff. Prawns sambal, Prawns were nice but sambal sauce was too spicy with too many chilli seeds. Prawns had head and shell on which is not described on the menu, very messy. Nasi Goreng was the most overly oily fried rice I have ever eaten, verging on inedible. £16 is not good value for a basic, greasy veggie fried rice. Only contained a few vegetables and a cheap egg on top. Flavour OK, very salty. Not what I would expect from a Malaysian Nasi Goreng. Very different taste from Julie's Koppitam's Nasi Goreng. Food did not sit well. Nice decor and friendly staff, probably a nice place to hang out for drinks but I came for the food and left disappointed.

The space was too noisy even though there was few customers, the music was turned up too loud to be able to have a conversation I asked for it to be turned down which it was ever so slightly but then it went back up. Part of the noise was the staff talking amongst themselves. The staff weren’t friendly enough, they took dishes as soon as you had finished them, which I find rude and at one point stretched over my friend to reach one, completely out of order. The food wasn’t great, the crunchy chicken Szechuan was just like a barbecue sauce with spice, the lamb curry the sauce didn’t suit the meat and the lamb wasn’t cooked to its best and the prawn toast was disgusting. I would have liked to have returned most of the dishes and asked for a refund

Gaga Kitchen & Bar on Dumbarton Road in Glasgow offers a unique dining experience with friendly staff and an eclectic menu. Upon arriving, parking proved to be a challenge, which could be an issue for some visitors. We were seated towards the back of the restaurant, close to the toilets, which wasn't ideal. While we could have asked to be moved, it is worth mentioning for those who might have a preference for a different seating arrangement. On a positive note, we were pleased with the quality of the langoustines and vegetable curry, both of which were excellent. The fish dishes, while tasty, were slightly small for the price. One aspect that may appeal to some patrons but not to others is the presence of dogs in the restaurant. While the food was enjoyable overall, the portion sizes and price point might not be suitable for everyone. It is worth considering these factors when deciding whether to dine at Gaga Kitchen & Bar. In conclusion, Gaga Kitchen & Bar has both strengths and areas for improvement. With some adjustments, this establishment could offer an even more enjoyable dining experience for its customers.

The food is ok but nothing out of the ordinary, perhaps the recommendations were not the greatest. I started my meal with the prawn toast. It lacked flavour and was really greasy. The fried rice dish (nasi goreng with summer greens) was definitely tastier but was not as good as the waitress said. I’ve had this dish in other restaurants and this one tasted quite similar. I was a little disappointed with the service as well. Very slow to pick up used plates and empty cocktail glasses. I wasn’t offered dessert at the end of my meal and felt that the waitress was quite uninterested in serving me. I also noticed a few errors were made at the table sitting next to me. I’m visiting from another country and saw this restaurant on a TV sow so I was very excited to try it out. Unfortunately it does not live up to the hype, at least not from my experience.

After having gone to Julie's Kopitiam for many years we were eager to finally try her newest venture. We went as a party of 8 and pretty much ordered everything from the menu. There wasn't a single dish we didn't enjoy. Most of us were meat eaters but there were two vegetarians and one vegan among us. We were all equally happy, so it's a great place to go with a group of diverse eaters. Well, as long as you like rich Southeast-Asian flavours. Only a few dishes were spicy but all of them tasted really bold (I mean this in a good way). If you like rich Southeast-Asian food, though, you will probably be very happy.

I really wanted to like this place more. But it just fell short. I will preface this by saying my partner is Malaysian so we do know what “good looks like” when it comes to Malay cuisine. I know it is “Malaysian inspired” but it just tried too hard to be inspired without retaining the culinary delights of Malaysia. Firstly, the staff. All super nice and friendly and good service. Definitely 5 star. Atmosphere was good, like the industrial style decor. We were seated at a booth and found the seats slightly uncomfortable which lost the mark. The food. We had sweetcorn fritters, Kerabu noodle salad, lamb curry, Sambal prawns and Nasi Goreng. In order, the fritters are weird, gloopy and just had an oddness about them. Tasted fine but the texture was off. Noodle salad was nothing like a classic Kerabu salad. It was tasty, but strayed too far from authentic. The lamb curry was my favourite for taste, lamb was amazingly tender and the potatoes in the curry sauce were delicious. Prawns were excellent BUT a tenner for THREE prawns is really a rip off. And they also strayed too far from what we view as a classic sambal. Nasi Goreng was the star dish for both of us, the most authentic dish served with a nice zing to the flavour. Final bill with two cocktails was £82 which felt steep BUT the Nasi Goreng and lamb curry were both more substantial than the typical “small plates” servings, so really we had 2 mains and 3 small plates, so that balances it out. My advice would be to stick with 4 plates maximum if you get these more substantial plates as we did struggle to finish everything. Conclusion - “would we go back” is always my yardstick and the answer is probably not. It was good and I believe 4/5 is a deserving score. I just feel better options are out there in Glasgow. Sorry folks.

Food is amazing! Only issue was when ordering plain jasmine rice it came half way through the other plates, understand this is the style of service but most of the dishes benefited from the accompaniment of rice. I should have asked for that to be served first I'm sure that would have been possible, better to have cooler rice than none and wait for it to arrive while the main 'awesome' plates get cold. Staff were welcoming and polite without being over-bearing. Good indication of things to come... Prawn toast. Chinese buffet afterthought / complimentary add-on but no doubt elevated to inspired levels of gastronomy to warrant the £9 price tag. I was expecting succulent prawns confit’d in a clarified butter infused with SE Asian herbs and spices, the flesh under-blended to a toothsome bite on crisp bread. Toasty sesame, a sharp but calibrated condiment to cut through the fat… What we got was felt like I was biting into a sponge saturated with oil, ridiculed by the baby food texture of the prawn paste within that had no indication of garlic, ginger, citrus et al. They served this oiled toast with more oil. Chilli Oil. Call me a cynic, but it tasted a lot like what you get in a jar from the Asian supermarket around the corner. A pathetic, wilted strand of coriander garnish perfectly epitomised the experience. The delicious cocktail I had cut through the gag sensation of having gargled multi-use vegetable oil straight from the fryer, and watching my partner wrestle with her cocktail with its obscene wedge of watermelon hanging out of it cheered me up. Stop being so negative - next course! Nasi Goreng. Fried rice with an egg on top. Indo street food staple for those on a budget. Everyone knows Nasi Goreng. The lion’s share of the clientele have no doubt humble-bragged an Eat/Pray/Love lost month or two in Uluwatu spending days on a white girl yoga retreat and nights riding shotgun on a dodgy scooter with a Danish surfer that didn’t bother to remember their name. It is known. Nonsense aside, my expectations of elevated basics were still high and hopeful. Alas, not so much here. £12. Yes, £12. For fried rice that hadn’t seen enough time in the wok and garnished with a sorry-looking fried egg that still had the watery-gelatinous membrane around the yolk. And some overcooked beansprouts and cabbage put through it, and that depressing strand of wilted coriander made a repeat appearance. The food cost percentage on this is seriously taking the proverbial, especially when considering the quality. For this money I would expect Partick’s best Salt Bae look-a-like to make an appearance armed with the pout, gold leaf and a ridiculous knife to stab the yolk. At the very least a minor TV celebrity to do the rounds, no? At this point, I wouldn’t be surprised if they tried to palm off a 65p bag of Indomie Mi Goreng Fried Noodles from down the local Morrisons, bunged it in with a soft poached egg, peanut sauce and some greens then charged £15 for it. Unconvinced, we retired. It’s a shame. Another example of the underwhelming yet highly accessible style-over-substance establishments that compensate for their inadequacies with incredibly strong social media game. And we fell for it. Just like the thousands of others that keep the Six By Nico team in the black. The immediate West end area is rife with talent. Within 200 meters of Kelvinhall subway you can get the best dumplings in Glasgow, dine at two serious Michelin recommendation contenders, eat a whole fried chicken, eat the best kimchi in Glasgow, Taiwanese hot pot, authentic Malay, dim sum, clay-pot Cantonese classics, better bahn mi’s than I ever had in Hanoi. What they all lack in PR, alas, they make up for in substance. I would genuinely be curious to see if this is a sustainable neighbourhood addition in what is essentially a little too West of the West End. Thornwood’s credentials includes Flur wines which went the way of the unicorns, Basta pizza whose owner actively pursues the inspired marketing strategy of spending most his time blocking the doorway of clientele whilst chain smoking, Bru only appears to operate on a ad hoc basis, and Bibi appears to be on their second mortgage death rattle None of the above inspires a repeat visit. Points scored for the keen staff and palate cleansing cocktails, but it otherwise felt like a Instagram tick-list destination serving up basic Chinese takeaway scran. 3/10.

How lucky is Glasgow to have a restaurant of the quality of Ga Ga?! Malaysian influenced tapas style dishes of the highest order. The fried chicken is to die for, both lamb and chicken curries are fabulous and the prawn toasts are on a different planet to anything you’ll get at your local Chinese. It’s also amazing value for money, the most expensive dish being the curry at £17. The chicken is an absolute bargain at £9. It was so good we ordered a second portion! We were celebrating a big birthday and so indulged in some frozen daiquiris, and these too were perfect. 👌

Lovely little restaurant, food was delicious with a good kids menu too. Reasonably priced and good size portions for 'small plates'.

This is the best Malaysian food I’ve had, and in terms of south Asian food only Fat Rice in Chicago stands side by side. We came in with zero expectations and came out swinging. The banana shake and cucumbers came first and we instantly knew we had something special. The fried chicken and porkbelly mix of fat and acidity was so good we got a second plate. If you are in town and don’t go to Ga Ga you are missing out on some of the best food that you will have regardless of country.

4.5 stars is criminally low. This place is a culinary experience not to be missed!!!! From the miso potatoes (wow!!) to the fried chicken (a flavour explosion) to the banana shake (I could drink gallons of the stuff), absolutely spectacular. 11/10

I've been wanting to visit for ages, and the experience didn't disappoint. Everything we tried from the menu was delicious, including the cocktails. The atmosphere was very relaxed and the staff were all friendly, helpful and attentive. We will definitely be back!

Food was great, staff were lovely but the choice was poor, the last time I was here there was a lot more on the menu. Some side's or even small starter's would be good, I did enjoy the food jist wish there was more of this lovely stuff on offer.

We had a delicious meal at GA GA kitchen tonight, we had the spring greens, noodle salad, vegetable curry and chicken curry. Everything was delicious but the spring greens and vegetable curry was exceptional. Very friendly service and nice relaxed atmosphere too.

I've been dying to visit Gaga for quite some time, and it was absolutely wonderful! My Glasgow (and Edinburgh!) friends have recommended this spot multiple times, and I will definitely be back in a heartbeat. I really enjoy the sharing style, and getting a mix of small plates, large plates, and sides is the best way to taste your way through the menu and the talents of the kitchen team. The service was great, chat was awesome, vibe was spot-on, and the house pilsner is *chefs kiss*. Thank you for the awesome hospitality Gaga. Be back soon!

Really relaxed, unpretentious restaurant with delicious food. We had: Prawn toast, veg curry, nasi goreng, miso potatoes, basil mayo fries and the wok greens and it was all bangin! Staff were really lovely and welcoming to us and our dog. We will be back...

Food overpriced but tasty. Service very good but staff could be more knowledgeable. Atmosphere good but a small selection of music on a loop became boring

Really dissapointed with our visit here after really loving Julie's Kopiteam. Food was OK, don't have any complaints, but flavours just seemed quite basic for the price. Prawn toast was the highlight. Service was quite poor, we had finished our starters then got given 1 of our mains without the starter plates being taken away. I had to ask for them to be taken after about 5 mins. Then after waiting over 5 minutes for the other main to come after asking for it, again, by that time my partners main was cold. Just quite a poor experience all round, and that really pains me to say that. Hopefully it was just a one off as we really liked Julie's Kopiteam. But on this occasion, one to forget.

One star off as has a dreadful waitress, been three times now since it opened and would be nice to see a new menu! No issues with the food, just be nice to see something different and a waitress with a bit of cheer and a smile!

Tasty. Nice staff. Execution of the food could be more refined and better portioned. Vegetable curry is genuinely excellent.

Wildly good food from an nationally beloved chef. Stunning cocktails from the bar team led by Scott - literally one of the best drink makers I've ever experienced. You'll love this place, you'll have a wonderful culinary experience, you'll be able to access a deeper level of peace and joy within yourself. I believe in you. Have a nice dinner.

Review is a little late but we were on vacation in Glasgow in May, we ate at Yiamas three times. Fantastic every time. Best place to get a fresh salad and the lamb was amazing. the owners recognized us on the third visit and had a great chat. food and service were top notch. They were even accommodating with giving us a table suitable for my fathers wheel chair.

We had a set menu and everything we ate was delicious. Good alcoholic and non alcoholic options. A must is getting some of the snacks with your meal. Beautiful restaurant to sit in and staff helpful with dietary requirements. We will be back to experience the full menu.
