Fumo in Birmingham

Nos encantó nuestra experiencia en Fumo. Compartimos pizza, tartar de atún, gambas, pasta Norma y la selección de pan. Toda la comida era maravillosa, pero el tártaro de atún en particular era una sensación de sabor. El Pinot Grigio era muy suave y muy recomendable. El servicio fue atento, amable y educado

Fui a Selfridges por mi cumpleaños y decidí venir a Fumo para un cóctel de cumpleaños. El personal del bar escuchó que era mi cumpleaños y me compró un delicioso regalo y tragos. No tenían que hacer eso, pero lo hicieron de todos modos. El trato fue absolutamente impresionante y el servicio fue impecable. Me hicieron sentir extremadamente feliz y hicieron que mi cumpleaños fuera un poco especial, gracias.

Mi amigo y yo fuimos a almorzar ayer a Fumo en Selfridges. Teníamos 5 platos pequeños como era de esperar (pizza, melanzane parmigiana, albóndigas, calamares y arancini) y dos refrescos y la factura llegó a casi £ 70. Decir que nos sentimos "estafados" por los platos, que comprenden ingredientes relativamente baratos, es una eufemismo. Hemos visitado Fumo en el pasado, hemos disfrutado del servicio y el ambiente, y siempre hemos entendido que cobran un poco más que muchos otros lugares, pero ahora ha ido más allá del ridículo. Creo que Fumo necesita replantearse el precio de platos tan sencillos. No volveremos a visitarlo pronto. El servicio era bueno.

Esta cadena de restaurantes se encuentra dentro de los grandes almacenes de Selfridge. Tiene un agradable interior que se encuentra en un balcón sobre la zona comercial. El menú se compone de platos pequeños y encontramos la comida adecuada, aunque un poco caro. El servicio, sin embargo, era pésimo. Por ejemplo, los platos equivocados entregados a la mesa. Parecía haber un montón de personal en frente de la casa, pero eran extremadamente lentos e ineficientes. Basándonos en nuestras experiencias recientes, la cadena de San Carlo parece haber perdido el rumbo.

Fui a almorzar tarde antes del teatro para celebrar el cumpleaños de mi esposa. El saludo inicial fue positivo, y nos sentamos a nuestra elección de mesa . Se presentaron menús y tras alguna deliberación , se tomó el orden. El camarero dijo entonces «servimos comidas más pequeñas estilo Tapas , y llegan platos a medida que se cocinan”. Como el restaurante estaba quizás ocupado en un 5 % con clientes , sugerí que tal vez obtendríamos nuestra comida de manera organizada . Los dos entrantes calientes , y las bebidas llegaron con bastante prontitud , pero después de 2 - 3 bocados ’s el camarero luego presentó nuestros platos principales más ensaladas . ¿Qué brigada de cocina piensa que es aceptable proporcionar la comida completa de una sola vez ; que socava la experiencia del cliente , resta calidad (media) de la comida . Teníamos 4 platos calientes y 2 ensaladas abarrotando la mesa, creando una sensación muy apresurada a la comida. La pista está en la palabra ‘Starters’. Los sistemas Kitchen Parti se supone que funcionan en tándem - gran parte de la habilidad de los chefs es el momento profesional de los cursos. Consigue un control en su atención al cliente - gastamos £ 85 en comida muy promedio , Y esperaba algo mejor. No fue una experiencia relajante ni memorable Sugiero emprender algunas revisiones misteriosas de los clientes - revelará mucho más para abordar.

Felt rushed booking for 3 people booked table for 6pm 2 hours before closing and was informed at 6:30 that the kitchen will be closing so order everything as will be unable to order after 6:30. Ordered Olives that never arrived waiter came to say they forgot them at that point had eaten starter and was now eating mains so I said cancel them now, waiter brought mains as soon as we had finished our starters and he never even removed the stater plates this was very strange leaving dirty plates. Imformed then at 7pm if we want more drinks we must order now as bar will be closing. Only 3 other tables in and it was like we are being rushed for them to close. Not what we expected and will not return. The food was OK but small amount for the price.

Very disappointed with the food and particularly the service. 20 minutes after sitting down before anyone came to our table. Steak was raw and lamb burned. No one checked on us to see how the food was. On the table next to us one party has been served and finished eating before his companion had any food delivered to the table. No one apologised. They even had to come back to be reminded of his order. The restaurant needs a good clean. Very disappointed

Came to Fumo after a shopping trip last week with my wife, enjoyed it so much booked it for my birthday this week. Everything is so tasty and service spot on. Prices are reasonable for the quality of food.

I don’t understand the negative reviews. Visited today with my 2 daughters. The service from start to finish was excellent. The only issue was one of the waiters forgot to put our pudding through the til. On realising his mistake he came over straight and apologised, he got our pudding within a few minutes and said it would be on the house. We were very happy with this. The food was lovely and I much prefer eating a variety of small plates. We loved everything. Ignore the haters we will definitely be returning.

A fully deserved 5 star review at any level with a special mention about kindness, friendliness and welcoming warmth both of staff and management. Not to mention the supreme quality of the OLIVE OIL deliciously seasoning the top ranking dishes of the house. Thank you, Paolo. We are massive fans of San Carlo. We decided to go and look at Fumo as we were in Birmingham with some friends from abroad . The greeting was great, but I had ordered a bottle of Cain and when I tasted it it just tasted vinegar. My wife tasted this and we explained to the waiter that we are not happy with the wine so instead we chose a different bottle of wine which is more money The waiter came over to us and bought the menu and said are you sure you want a bottle of wine? Almost insinuating that we are there to mess about and he embarrassed me in front of all my family. I was so close to walk out, but I did not and we ate the meal which was very poorly presented especially the tuna tar tar. He then started to say that he is fighting with management to have this wine removed well you should not be fighting with management. They know what they are doing. They should taste the wines and realise that they are not the best. This is certainly not the experience we had at San Carlo and gentlemen. I tend to leave good reviews and this is the first time I’ve posted negative review.. I won’t be going back to this place any time soon. I must say the rest of the San Carlo group over the years has provided us with many enjoyable nights and has always been consistent. This is not a reflection of the Son Carlo group and I would urge all to enjoy San Carlo.

Actually really disappointed to write this but the service provided today in the Selfridges branch, was extremely awful. Waited & waited to be served. When, eventually they could pull themselves away from the till, attitude was dreadful, when asked what they’d recommend on the wine list she rolled her eyes. Lasagne was lacking taste & small enough to feed a toddler. Waitress came over, asked if we wanted desert then threw the bill on the table. Ashamed to be a brummie with my business associate from Manchester. Will not, emphasis on the not, ever return. Shame on you.

Was shopping in the Bullring on a weekend from London and fancied Italian food. A quick search located this at the top of Selfridges and oh what a delightful find. I love Italian food but often difficult to find quality food, well look no further as this was delicious. My partner has not tried Italian before but was quickly won over once he tasted the food. We were advised that the dishes were small and recommended that we order 2 to 3 dishes. We ordered the lasagne, seafood pasta, carbonara, a king prawn special and a sharing seafood platter. The lasagne was mouth-wateringly delicious and made me want to drink the sauce. Seafood pasta was cooked well and tasty as was the carbonara. I found the portion sizes reasonable and for someone like me who eats very little. Cocktails are yummy too. Will definitely be visiting again.

Nice for sharing Tapas but watch pricing as they charge full price for medium dish. Service was particularly bad, they didn't even check on our drinks but spent much time on the table next to us which they were much more attentive to so apparently service is selective!!!

Visited Fumo taking advantage of “Rishi Sunak’” “Eat out to help out”. Enjoy chilling in Selfridges and the attached restaurant didn’t disappoint us. The tapas size dishes were perfect for our smaller appetites. Quite busy when we visited and we both enjoyed the atmosphere and vibes. keep meaning to return but need to book well in advance - we are normally “last minute”!

This is a great tapas style restaurant. Great service. Great food. The choice of seafood dishes are great. All very fresh. Very reasonably priced. Highly recommended.

My favourite place to visit in Birmingham. The coffee and the wine are definitely the best in Birmingham. The service from Michele, Roman and the young barista really makes this place better than anywhere else, and all staff are friendly and accommodating. I visit at least once a week, price is good, decor is beautiful and service is amazing.

I feel awful to even have to write this review, as I’ve never had an issue with the restaurant. But, I think this needs to be raised. Me and my sister visited today to have coffee and dessert. The first time we asked to be seated the lady at the front told us to come back in 20 minutes - but there were visible seats available. When I asked her why can we not be seated . She replied and said “there was problem with seating , or something”. I said that was fine. We waited around outside. I could then see another couple who walked in being seated by the same women. So I went back in after another 5 minutes and another man served us. He asked “what is it that you want food or drinks”. I said coffee and dessert. He said well you can not be seated just for that you can go to the bar. I said why? He shrugged his shoulders and muttered something. He then said come here I’ll seat you!!! His body language and face expression said it all…… Me and my sister looked at each other in shock. We felt as if they did not want us there on the first attempt and the last. We both got really upset and walked out. It was excuse after excuse for us to be seated. We had spent all day shopping and all we wanted was coffee and something sweat to end our day. After me and my sister reflected on this, we realised that it was because we were the only Middle Eastern ladies and myself who had a scarf on my head in the restaurant. I did not want to have to make this review public, but the way they made us feel was absolutely awful. Karma is coming your way.

Overpriced and most galling that you are told the portions are small advisable to have 2 or 3 portions and mix the menus You then find you are paying a high price for your meal I advise persons busting to be prepared to be ripped off Ruined a good weekend

Lovely restaurant..really nice decor. Service very friendly and efficient. No waiting between courses. Flowed well. Lunch was nice. We had 3 dishes and then 2 desserts..spot on. All food was tasty. Desserts particularly nice. Came to £78 for the two of us, so a nice treat. They do add a 12.5% tip on and £1 charity donation..we didn't mind, but if on a tighter budget, something to be aware of. We'd be back!

Restaurant is very busy, but has a good vibe, and as with all San Carlo restaurants, the service is excellent. The menu is an Italian “tapas” style, however each “tapas” is priced like a main (around £18 each!). For two people you need 3-4 dishes so it works out at a pretty expensive lunch and one that is easy to walk away still hungry from! Food was excellent though - just not enough of it for the money you pay.

We decided to venture into Bham for a birthday meal for my partner, we had eaten in various Fumo restaurants in London but not here, We had booked a table which on a Saturday is a Must - the restaurant was full, we were seen to our table very quickly, service was really quick for drinks considering how busy the place was - food ordered & came out really quick, the staff here are all on the ball - every single dish we had was fantastic & fresh - absolutely no complaints there. If you’ve got a problem with the discretionary service charge - this money does go to the staff - if you don’t want to pay it, don’t be afraid to ask for it to be removed.

Had a brilliant visit to Fumo, the food was really very tasty and the staff couldn’t have been more friendly too, especially ‘Giovanni’ whom my daughter took a liking to…and as a 3 year old doesn’t really take to many people!! The staff really couldn’t have done any more to make our visit special and we left feeling like a million dollars! Price point is fair considering In Selfridges and it was great to just watch all the yummy dishes coming out to different tables! Will definately be back to try more next time!

This Fumo never ever fails to impress and is a firm favourite in our household when we are out shopping. The food and service were just superb and we can’t wait for our next shopping outing into Birmingham so we can go again.
