Alam in Birmingham

I find this place to be very standard, we visited about three times during lunch hours. The food was standard, good parking in the back, service was ok and it was family friendly.

I would like to say a special thank you to suleman waiter ,who gave us a very good customer service, very friendly and professional. The food was really tasty. Will definitely come again. Than you!

Salaam . The food here is freshly cooked, and cooked to perfection. The service is extremely good with the team investing effort and explaining the menu and taking care of individual requirements. The desserts are beautiful. The chocolate molten lava cake is always beautiful,, every single time on point, and the cookie dough is always lovely. We enjoy our food here regularly, accompanied by guests from all over the country including Scotland, Manchester, London, who also thoroughly enjoy the culinary experience. I in particular visit the restaurant regularly during Ramadan and one of the nice things here is that irrespective of whether we spend a few pounds or hundreds of pounds the attentiveness from the team , dining experience, and the food is always excellent In shaa Allah we hope you continue to be successful Ameen

Amazing restaurant came with family got parmessan chicken smashed burger prawn curry and manchurian chicken was amazing and yummy and the service was top tier they gave cheesecakes on the house too that were so yummy. Will be reccomending to all my friends. tysm <3 <3💖💖💖

Aweful , their so called speciality - Nihari was v v below standard , DID NOT even taste like lamb more like mutton so they obviously use low quality meat . Chicken Manchurian children DID NOT EVEN TOUCH !!!!!! When I questioned the bill and refused to pay for the 2 items which were below standard ( and pay for EVERYTHING ELSE) the manager Mr Rehan ( who gave him this position as no such qualities ) to my shock and disgust MANHANDLED me and ASSAULTED me !!!!!!!!! Everything was top notch food ,ambiance ,courtyard area everything …but the best part was service/hospitality they will treat you like you are the only one dinning in the restaurant which worth every penny you spend . Food arrived pretty quick, courtyard is beautiful loved it. I expected more from the food given it's a fancy place we ordered the nachos and parmesan chicken. Chicken tasted like the frozen chicken you can buy from Iceland/farm foods not fresh chicken. Nachos were really oily. Quite mediocre. When leaving assuming boss who took payment was on the phone the whole time while taking payment wasn't the nicest customer service. Waiter/waitress who bought us the food were nice.

Beautiful restaurant family friendly and for friends and couples. . Lovely for photos with different features. Amazing outdoor area with intimate settings. Staff were very friendly. Table service.

Really great place to eat Food was very nice Starters were banging Try the nachos guys they were lovely. Burgers were very nice. I ordered a rice with chicken manchori but i didnt like it due to my taste buds. The guy serving me gave us free deserts and went the extra mile. Really greatful for the way we was treated. Disappointing and Overhyped – Don’t Fall for the Trap! Alum in Birmingham is nothing but a TikTok gimmick. The hype had me expecting something special, but the food was completely underwhelming. There was nothing unique or memorable about the flavors—just average dishes at ridiculously high prices. You can get much better food elsewhere in the city for a fraction of the cost. The atmosphere felt more about aesthetics than substance, and the service was just okay. Save your money and go somewhere that actually delivers on taste rather than just social media hype.

Celebrated my daughters 7th birthday ..absolutely lovely atmosphere food was amazing and the staff was very attentive and helpful ...very well looked after ..not to forget there viral courtyard where u can dine outside ,will definitely visit again in the summer for the outside experience..

Went there couple of days ago for iftar. Ordered Nihari and lamb karahi. Lamb karahi was on the bone but full of bones and nihari was real disappointment too much spicy and shank was covered with 20g fat which i have never experienced before. But staff was welcoming and they told me nihari is our famous dish here. they really need to work on nihari i must say.

Alhamdullilah, the food was okay. The portion size wasn't great but then again it wasn't that expensive relatively. Unfortunately our server wasn't very friendly, however the other staff made up for it. We were provided with complimentary tea and ZamZam water. It has been a while since I last visited the restaurant but I remember it being better than this occasion.

Today we went to Alams for iftar. All I can say is the service was atrocious. You expect some of a wait for orders at iftar and we a table of 10 were patient and waiting. When a few of our drinks came and one starter we still waited. It got to around 40 minutes wait and we asked where our drinks were, the waiters were frustrated and sighing at us saying “it’s iftar, things are slower” but we could blatantly see every other table around us wit their drinks, starters and then their mains! Every 20 or so minutes, we would ask again and our waiter would still persist, that we were being impatient. We had a small child who was hungry and most of the table had fasted the whole day. When it got to around 2 hours waiting, with only one started received, not all the drinks. We asked another waiter and he appeared shocked that we had not received our food, by this time, the restraints was emptying out people were going home. We went downstairs and complained, our food was nowhere in sight. We had to ask for an apology from the staff! It was awful. They reluctantly gave us a 15% discount when they eventually sent our food. I will note we were the only group of black Muslims in the restaurant. Another group of black male Muslims also complained as they had a similar experience. It doesn’t look good for the restaurant. It felt like racism. Really disappointing to experience this in Ramadan. I hope the restaurant reflects. We gave them the benefit of iftar being busy, but after waiting over 2 hours it was really terrible

Superb food, and the service was outstanding! We ordered chicken biryani, Parmesan chicken and lamb chops. The flavour was so authentic, reminded me of home! The restaurant ambience was fabulous too, clean toilets and very classy decor. That only added to our experience. We will totally recommend Alam to everyone!

Fully Decorated place, service is great. Lambchops were terrific, and Biriyani was salty but didn’t realise until got sick the next day. The takeaway meat box Achar Gosht was full of chemicalised Salt and bitter as sick, roti crap. Had to throw it in the bin. Conclusion: people are welcoming to the decorated place which is reflected in price. They may need to question the kitchen about why the spices went wrong. Editing eyes: when “ kitchen staff play passively “against boss ! then eatin' is occasionally good but, the takeaway is always poisoned. It makes it dangerous for all.

I had a frustrating experience at Alam Restaurant in Small Heath. To place an order, you have to scan a QR code, which takes you to an online menu. However, it forces you to register and sign up before you can even order – which is unnecessary and annoying. On top of that, of you want to connect to their WiFi, which doesn’t work properly because the process only allows facebook sign-in other methods don't work i.e. google sign-in or their non-social platform form, making the whole process even more frustrating. No one offered us a physical menu either, which would have made things much easier. Not one waiter or worker showed compassion for the long wait or acknowledged things weren't going to the expectation of the customer and they didn't even check if our food was ok. The prices are also quite high. The service was poor as well. I waited over 50 minutes for food, and it was just for a table of two. I understand it was a busy day and it's ramadan but for a restaurant as big as Alam, the kitchen should be able to handle the rush better. The food itself wasn’t bad, but the overall experience made it not worth it

The customer service was appalling. We ordered food before Iftar and was told we would get the food after 20mins. It didn’t come until after over an hour and the chicken parmesan was chewy the achar gosht was not nice. The staff were ignorant. I would never go there again.

So I ordered a chicken burger and chips. The burger was tiny with one lettuce leaf and tomato slice in it along with mayo. Without the sauce it was bland.the chips were terrible. They were dried out and crispy like crisps!! Don't know if they had old oil that created that effect. For the price I expected much more. My local Rio's provide better food. Won't be buying from here again.

They seriously need to serve like a restaurant! They bring each person’s food separately. One person is eating, after 5 mins they bring another dish out. Serve all of the table at once! Ordered med-rare steak and it was really undercooked almost Blue. No apology just ‘oh it just needed 2 mins more cooking’.. Rib eye steak is usually one piece of thick steak yet they served 2 pieces of thin meat. Burgers and chips portion size are very small

Poor service. We went there as a family. They brought the food one person each 15 minutes. We didn't eat as a family. I got a Grilled Chicken Burger 🍔 that was so tiny I could eat with two bites. The chips could also be counted! It was a second time visiting here as last time we had bad a experience but we gave them another chance. It was disappointing again unfortunately. I never leave bad reviews unless I have no choice.

Held our first motorcyle meet of 2025 here at Alams. We met up for breakfast with circa 20/25 people and was concerned about how they would service such a number and maintain high standards of food. But wow... hats off to the staff. They wwrre well organised. Tables were served quickly and staff had it all under control. Not 1 complaint from the 20/25 attendees. Staff were brilliant. Service was brilliant and food was amazing. Jazakallah khair for having us and we will definitely be back for more inshallah.

Gone very down. You can see why it's virtually empty. Nihari hard in some places, inedible and felt uncooked. Too spicy for kids. Chicken dish very dry without curry masaalah. Overpriced. Two mains three naan one omelette and two desi teas over £55. Will not be visiting again. Save your money and go somewhere better. You're paying for fancy decor here. Food is awful.

From all the good reviews I thought i will try out Alams. Honestly my paremesan chicken with chips was quite disappointing. The taste, the presentation it really wasn't for me. I ordered rotis with curry my children. The rotis were dry and cold. I won't be going there again.

I recently ordered pancakes and I have to say, they were the worst pancakes I’ve ever had.From the first bite, it was clear that these were not worth the price tag. The texture was dry and rubbery, as if they had been sitting under a heat lamp for hours. The flavor was bland, with no hint of the richness or freshness I expected. I’ve had better pancakes from a box mix at home, and that’s saying something. For the amount I paid, I expected a premium experience, but what I got was anything but. Save your money and look elsewhere if you’re craving pancakes – these are not it. A huge letdown and definitely not worth a second try.

Recently visited the restaurant and the food was delicious! The staff member with a headscarf was so lovely and delivered excellent customer service. I particularly liked the desserts, they had a variety of what to choose from and the presentation was great. An amazing experience, would definitely recommend!

We were a group of 5 and was seated in the 'courtyard' area of the restaurant. We ordered a mix of items and the vegetable lasagne was ok but slightly bland with very rubbery cheese. Overall the food was average according to the entire group. But the experience was made worse when we noticed a flurry of RATS running around our feet whilst we were drinking tea after the meal. Whilst we were disgusted that vermin were running around a seating area/outdoor kitchen of a restaurant the staff found it slightly amusing, laughing at our reactions. The staff offered to move us and began laying down sticky traps (does make me suspect they have a regular infestation problem). They offered us free cake but we decided as a group we had to leave. We definitely would not return to the restaurant as this is a serious health and safety issue. I managed to get a couple photos of the rats in the seating area before we left and have attached in this review.
