Fu Kwai in Wigan

Warmed up chips.. rubbery and although fish was cooked fresh it wasn't cod, more like pollock at cod prices. Won't be going back. Since takeover it's gone downhill

Normally this place cooks the best chips in the area. Tonight I had to wait for the chips to be cooked (not a big problem). Got them home & most of the chips were raw inside. Tried to ring up to complain & the people I spoke to could hardly understand what I was trying to tell them. This was the best Chinese takeaway for miles & then it changed hands. The service is hap hazard, it’s gone really expensive (but so have a lot of places), but the food is not a patch on what it used to serve. Such a shame! Money is tight. If your food is not up to scratch, people will not visit.

Absolutely horrible The peas were like bullets and chips were mush. Previous owners knew how to cook good food. Won't be going back. Used to one of the best Chinese in area now it's complete opposite to one of the worst

Gross! Gross! Gross! Soup full of sugar, chips had long black hairs in them. All went in the bin. Waste of money and made us both feel ill. Total opposite of when the previous owners had it. Don’t waste your cash

Gravy is nowhere near as tasty before takeover,, we need old gravy recipe back please Been going this chippy for twenty years or so just for the tasty gravy, please get in touch with previous owners for the real gravy recipe 👍

I have been here numerous times and cannot fault it, food always lovely with very good portion sizes however, I have found since they have new staff, the portion sizes are a lot smaller, the quality of the chippy food (not Chinese food) seems a bit rushed when cooked and also, my order the last 2 times hasn’t been correct.

This was the best Chinese for Singapore chow mein for miles. Tonight, hardly any meat or veg. Disappointed by far. Don’t think I’ll be back.

I've been visiting this takeaway since I was a kid and it is STILL amazing. The staff are super friendly and very accommodating to any changes (eg. No onions in the curry). I used to travel over 20 miles from Liverpool to get this Chinese takeaway! The food is always fresh, not greasy and so, so tasty. I can't recommend it enough.

What can I say! (if you wanna live another day) I would strongly recommend caution before visiting this establishment, the staff are quite obstinant and the food, I I wouldn’t serve to my dog. We eat out quite regular and on this occasion, we thought we would try this establishment. we were most surprised by the state of the mail, the taste the smell and the grease was unbelievable never known such an appalling meal.

Just moved into the area and looking for a Friday night chippy/Chinese. More than happy to recommend it. The food we’ve had has been great!

We have been having takeaways from here for years and years. I can’t tell you how long, but many years. We ordered tonight we were so disappointed. I rang through our order as usual. Special chow mein, no pork, extra mushrooms & crispy chilli beef which was terrible like sawdust, fried rice & Chips. The special chow mien had no flavour at all & not many mushrooms as previously. The crispy chilli beef was inedible, which we put in the bin. Please can anyone tell me has this outlet changed hands or have they got a new chef? I am so upset as this was my favourite takeaway. I normally have special chow mien no pork extra mushrooms once a week. Where will I go to now?

No matter when you go the food is always cooked fresh from the fish and chips to the extensive Chinese Menu. The service is usually quite fast and if you telephone your order before hand they will tell you how long before collection. Top Class food no matter what you choose clean environment can not fault .

Love this chinese all the food is very tasty good selection of food has battered king prawns they were delicious come with sweet and sour sauce not keen on that but you can swap that for a curry sauce good va.ue fod money too.

Still the best Chinese takeaway in the Lowton area, been going there for nearly 30 years now. Great Leitrim sizes, consistently goo quality and pleasant staff.

Been going to Fu Kwai for years. Would never go anywhere else for my Chinese. Never once had a bad takeaway.

Love the Fu Kwai. Its our 'go to' first choice for a chinese take away or a fresh chippy tea. We take advantage of the 4pm opening times to order our food for later evening pick up and its always ready. Very reasonably priced and always delicious. Good portion sizes (always full afterwards !) Can be busy if you go on spec but thats because its so nice. No immediate parking so have to park 'round the corner' but its worth the quick walk : ). Def recommend.

Decided to have a last minute takeaway, phoned with my order and was told 15 minutes. Arrive at Fu Kwai and asked for my order and it was ready and waiting. Food was very good and up to its usual standard.

Old fat, warmed up chips, chicken ?? This place has been here for years and yet it's still below average at best.

Superb fish and chips. Nice white fish and perfectly fried chips. However, the Hong Kong sweet and sour chicken was a real dissapointment. It was bland, tasteless, flavourless, which was a shame.

Oh dear. I used to call at this place many years ago, the place was always packed out. It was the place to get some food in a hurry as well as a great meal but having called twice in the last 2 months, the first time being off the cuff and the second to see if it was just one poor meal. Sorry to say it was the latter. The chips smelt of fish, the fish smelt of sausage and the sausage smelt of burnt fat. The Chinese part of it was ok really, couldn't say much in a negative way but not all of us opted for Chinese and this is where it fell down. Sorry to say I am going to have to give it a miss for sometime. Maybe all things from the past do eventually change and not always for the best.

Consistently high quality take away. Been coming here for years and I've never had a poor meal.Overall excellent value for money.

One of the best special fried rice meals I've had.Always fresh soft rice, you know its not pre cooked stuff, nice chips too.
