I asked Google where to take my German friend for a cream tea in Winchester and this came up. She was thrilled with it! Such lovely decor, delicious cakes, the full experience. The staff were very friendly and catered for all our needs including a vegan option and a highchair. The music was lovely, the cakes and coffee were delicious. We will be back!

Upon ordering, we were advised there was no coffee as the machine was broken. We ordered one cream tea, one extra tea and a coke. The clotted cream was no longer clotted (milky as if it had been watered down) one tea pot was full of tea and the other was not. Upon paying for our items, I was told the card machine was not working as they had no internet. Luckily one of our group had cash, otherwise we would not have been able to pay for our food. This was supposed to be a treat for the person who ended up paying the bill. The staff also did not have the correct change and wanted to give less change than was owed. We will not be going back.

Went for cream scones and tea. Small, flat scone, one medium tea pot for four people and no alternative for clotted cream for dairy allergy. Service was poor and request for more hot water for the tea pot not at all well received. In receipt of the bill an extra 40p was added to the bill for oat milk as they didn't offer soya as a dairy free alternative. A very disappointing experience

My daughter booked afternoon tea as a special treat for Mothers Day the sandwiches and cakes were nice but we sat on a table close to the counter and were surprised at the staff bickering and although we understand it was a busy day when people entered they were challenged by staff shouting have you booked not a very relaxed atmosphere to enjoy our tea. We hurriedly left taken our un eaten cakes with us. Which really spoilt our experience for Mother’s Day! Would not recommend!!

From the outside all looks well presented, friendly and seems a somewhat ‘quirky’ tea room. How wrong were we? When asking for a table for two, the ‘waitress’ couldn’t seem anymore un interested but took us upstairs. We then had to order our own food as no one came to take our order having waited a while and as for ‘the greatest ham sandwich’ - it was nothing more than some average ham popped in some normal bread with a measly looking side salad - as for the scones? For a tea room I expected better. They were solid and quite dry even though they’d clearly just been baked. Throughout our visit, no one spoke to us unless we spoke to them, we weren’t asked how anything was and when we ended up going downstairs to pay as no one was around or had come to us, not a word was spoke - just a machine held out for us to tap our card. Having not come from this area and having come away for a weekend in Winchester, this was not what I expected my lunch experience to be like. Would not recommended and would definitely avoid. Having explored more, I wish we had gone somewhere else as there are much nicer places around the local town.

My partner and I popped into this tea shop in Winchester. I ordered the "World's Greatest Ham Sandwich" which advertised as coming with a side salad and crisps. It was on the menu with seeded bread but I asked for non seeded as I have an allergy to some seeds. I think the menu price was £10 although I note the on line menu states it's £7 with an additional £1 for pickle, coleslaw or tomato. Now I get tomatoes are a bit difficult to come by at the moment but £1? Not sure what was in the pickle, I presume something worthy of a pound. I digress, after quite a long wait (a couple who came in and ordered 10 minutes after us were served their (hot) food quite a bit before our order) for the sandwich and my partner's cream tea, my greatest sandwich arrived. Without comment from the rather bored looking waitress or any cutlery. The sandwich....two bits of white bread (sort of fair enough as I'd requested a change) but the bread was dry and thin. The "thick cut" ham was a thin flaccid piece of meat with a small slice of bland cheese. Accompanied by a side salad of; one leaf of lettuce, one cherry tomato cut in half, a half inch chuck of cucumber cut in half and a teaspoon of dressing which I think was yoghurt. Oh and 4 broken ridged plain crisps. I looked at the plate and the waitress and asked "Seriously, is that it?" someone else came over and said it was a side salad (no, it was a garnish) and asked if I wanted more salad, I said it wasn't so much the salad (although that was dire) but the sandwich. She said she would get me some more salad, again I declined. My issue was the sandwich, sorry, the "Worlds Greatest Ham Sandwich" there was nothing about that sorry excuse of a sandwich which was great. I was then presented with a plate of, non requested, additional salad and coleslaw. Again I said "no thank you, it's not the salad, I'll just eat the sandwich" I don't doubt they were trying to be helpful at this point but (and I can't stress this enough) don't call what you served me today "World's Greatest Ham Sandwich" and charge what you did. My partner's two scones were tiny and served with a small dollop of cream and jam. Other people in the cafe seemed to be enjoying what they'd ordered, maybe we chose the wrong items but it was a sandwich and cream tea. Pretty basic stuff. I'd never go back as I feel somewhat disappointed, I was looking forward to that sandwich!

Thought we'd try a small teashop for an afternoon stop. Ordered tea and coffee, carrot cake and scone. All came to about £13 which isn't bad (and the carrot cake was good). Unfortunately the staff forgot to bring the scone. After my wife had drunk most of her tea she reminded the waitress about the scone, who then tutted and eventually delivered the forgotten scone without any word of apology (or any word at all). When she went to pay, the manageress asked how it all was. My wife said that it was 'OK'. On being pressed further my wife mentioned about the forgotten scone, which brought forth a lot of defensive excuses from the manageress - and still no apology. Needless to say, this incident left a nasty taste in the mouth. Establishments such as this should realise that they are providing a service and an experience. The customer shouldn't go away feeling that they've given offence firstly by having turned up and secondly by not being fully satisfied.

Winchester is a city with lovely cafe’s and restaurants. Frankly we were disappointed by this one. The cake was more icing than anything else. We ordered two pots of tea and received one small pot that was enough for only one person, with one tea strainer. It is a particular bugbear of mine when a tea room is stingy with tea. When I asked for more hot water I received a very sour look. When we asked for more milk we were presented with a bill instead. We had been there for 30 minutes. We would have stayed for lunch if we hadn’t been treated badly. It’s also disappointing these days when a tearoom doesn’t have a gluten free cake option.

I was treated to a coffee and cake here by my daughter with her first Saturday job wages. It left me feeling really sad and unable to point out it’s failings as I didn’t want to disappoint her. We were greeted with a lovely young...

Lovely quaint little tea room with friendly staff, great customer service and a warm atmosphere. The decor is very befitting of a cute tea room with more seating upstairs. Lovely fresh cakes too!

We collected a takeaway afternoon tea for just over 30 people. It was lovely and delicious, with plenty of sandwiches, cakes and scones. The staff were really helpful and we would definitely recommend this service. Thank you

The cake selection was small but the quality made up for this. Different cakes from those in the big chains so for anyone getting fed up with Costas, Starbucks etc this is the place to go. The coffee was smooth and strong, all this made...

We thought it was good but no more. The staff were very polite and attentive. Excellent sourdough (although would of been nice to be included on a £49.95 for 3 course lunch) and cracking pigs in blankets. Cured trout was a lovely light starter. Beef fillet although accurately cooked lacked the wood fired characteristics. A fillet really doesn't have enough time to get flavour from the wood fired oven due to its size. Other larger cuts of beef with some fat would be a better choice. Accompanying veg were ok but the cauliflower cheese again lacked any of the advertised 'wood fired' flavour and cheese sauce a little thin. We also thought this recently when dining in the Avenue restaurant what a shame there are no real local sparkling wines listed. Yes Ridgeview is in Southern England but some 70 miles away. You've got excellent quality producers like Black Chalk, Hattingley Valley, Louis Pommery, Raimes, Candover Brook and The Grange all within 10 miles.

I paid for two lots of afternoon teas £49.50 They bring me out one afternoon teas, for me and my children. What they gave me is not worth and over priced what a rip off, I was not happy about it. Just be careful buying the afternoon teas. I met some nice customers in there. I won't be going back the third time. What a rip off. Not good at all.
