Went here 3 times on my last week in Bournemouth last year. So keen to get back there this year, but really a bit disappointing. Cooked Breakfast was good again but service wasn’t as good, my cappuccino wasn’t a cappuccino and my partners porridge was half the size it was last year. Seemed others in there at the same time had the same experience.

Using the tearoom Trip advisor rating to sell the tea bus tour is extremely misleading...The Bus tour is extremely poor value and the food provision is minimal and of very average quality. Book a restaurant in the evening as you will be hungry. No coffee offered, just tea...not even one round of sandwiches (ie the equivalent of 1.5 slices of bread) The driver was not wearing a mask or socially distancing. My advice would be to avoid and don't be mislead by the advertising using their cafe certificate of excellence...

Really beautiful looking tearooms. However we arrived 5 mins before 9am. After letting the waiter, chef, whoever he was, that the little display bike had fallen over in the street. After he picked it up. And we followed him into the shop. I know we were a little bit early. But no good morning. No we will be with you in a few moments. Nothing. It was as if we were invisible. Surely a good morning would be nice. Totally ignorant staff. Wish we never told him the bike on the floor now. If you can't be bothered to acknowledge your customers. What type of service would we have got. Won't be ever eating here

We had 2 americanos and one scone portion with jam . A cream tea is £6 but I don’t like clotted cream so didn’t order that. However when we came to pay he said is was £10 so £5 for the scone. I asked how that could possibly be as using the cream tea pricing it should have been max of £3.50 for the scone & was told they didn’t sell scones on their own!! This is a cafe .. he told me I should have ordered the cream tea. I explained I didn’t want to waste the cream but he was adamant. Surely a cafe should sell a scone without cream and he seemed oblivious to the fact I was trying to save him money and waste! Delicious scone but won’t be back as a pretty dodgy bit of town and crazy pricing strategy. He did only charge £8 in the end but still thought his logic made perfect sense ♀️

My friend ordered afternoon tea for my birthday. I asked for no margarine in the sandwiches because I am allergic to it and granary bread. The tea arrived. A quarter white bread egg mayonnaise sandwich with so much cheap factory mayonnaise in it that's all you could taste along with a quarter cream cheese and cucumber sandwich, again tasteless, and do you want cream cheese when there's a scone with jam and cream? I said I didn't want mayonnaise so asked for a ham and cheese sandwich. It took ages to arrive and then was made with that cheap tasteless cheddar. I tried one of the little sponge cakes but it was so full of sugar to be inedible. All horrible. Then the waitress came out and said she was sorry but the sandwiches had been made with margarine, the chef had made the other customers with butter instead. I started to feel sick and my face was burning. I needed to go home quick as I was going to be sick so my friend went up to pay and the cook from the kitchen came out and charged her £28 for afternoon tea for two. Absolutely discusting. I can forgive a mistake but to then charge this amount was an absolute insult. I went straight home and to bed. I felt ill for the rest of the day and couldn't go to work that evening so lost earnings, I'm so angry at this place.

I came here with my mother to celebrate her birthday as I'd heard good things about Frieda's from some family members who had visited prior. I am a vegetarian and worry about cross contamination and lack of options, however, fear not because Frieda's has options for you! Upon arrival, we were greeted and quickly seated with a menu and a smile by our waitress Leanne. She was nothing short of helpful and polite as she went through the menu to find something that met my dietary requirements. She was also very patient with my 80 year old mother who is partially deaf, and went through the offerings with her too. The food was delicious and by Leanne's recommendation we both ordered the pumpkin soup (which was absolutely lovely and would love to return just for this alone). We also had a slice of the raspberry and white chocolate cake which was so scrumptious that I took a slice home for my husband!Overall such a pleasant experience, if you're thinking of booking for a special occasion or just a treat, I would highly recommend for the warm hospitality alone.

I was with a friend debating where to best go for a last minute afternoon tea afternoon, and having rang several places in Bournemouth who were unable to book me in at such short notice, Friedas Tearoom was the final number I rang, and I was greeted with such a friendly and helpful service and were able to book me in within the next half hour - I was delighted. Upon entering, we were immediately asked whether we would want tea or coffee and within minutes the afternoon tea stand arrived. My friend who has an allergy to strawberries was completely catered to on demand, and the alternatives offered were so well thought of. The actual food itself was delicious and you could taste how organic and fresh the food/ingredients were. Having been to other afternoon tea venues prior to this visit, I could tell the strong difference in the level of care and attentiveness that was given during our experience there. All the staff were so lovely and the ambience of the venue itself was quirky and well thought of. Not to mention the pricing was so reasonable too! I would recommend this place to anyone and I am already excited to visit again!

Frieda's tearoom is a gem. As other reviews have said, the food is very good and the staff are also very friendly. There is a great attention to detail. This is a homely tearoom with the personal touch - think vintage crockery, tea pots etc and freshly baked cakes and door step sandwiches. Lots of comforting food, plus a great little retreat on a side street near the Lansdowne area of Bournemouth. On a different note, it is well established and hopefully won't be vanishing anytime soon. Also worth looking out for is the afternoon tea etc on a Frieda's bus. Or ask Frieda's direct.

I got to know about Frieda’ Tearoom via TripAdvisor. My friends and I wanted to enjoy the typical English tearoom Aura before leaving Bournemouth and hence we ended up choosing Frieda’s tearoom. I really enjoyed having my tea and porridge (which by the way was amazing!! Was afraid that it might be too sweet, but no it was perfect!) my friend and i also decided to taste their homemade cakes, which looked and smelt amazing by the way. We decided unpin the white chocolate and raspberry flavor! The cake was amazing unfortunately we were already really full from the porridge or else we would have loved to take another piece. Other friends of mine, who also tasted the cake, were pleasantly surprised as well!!I can only recommend this place!! Definitely a place to visit while you are in Bournemouth. It just wins your heart with all the cozy decor and their lovely homemade food. And Frieda is simply an adorable lady, who makes sure that all the guests are enjoying their food or tea! Will definitely come back again!!

My friend and I treated my niece to an afternoon tea here as a pre-baby surprise. The table was booked and we were asked if any of the party had special dietary requirements. When we arrived they were waiting for us and after taking our drinks order the stands were delivered. There was a nice selection of sandwiches, scones and cakes. I don't like smoked salmon but did enjoy the sandwiches and my friend hates sultanas but really enjoyed the fruit scones. I guess we should have mentioned this when booking but it wasn't a big deal. The sandwiches went down very well but we started to struggle with the cakes as it was too much sweetness, having said that we did finish it all! We were offered top ups of the tea and the waitress was very attentive. It was good value and a nice experience but I think I would have preferred less cakes and maybe a mini quiche or something else savoury instead. The cakes on the counter looked lovely and maybe I will visit again for just cake and a drink next time.

I recently had afternoon tea at Frieda’s with a couple of friends. Due to health reasons I am gluten free. Although this wasn’t a problem I was disappointed to find that not only did I get less than my friends who had a normal afternoon tea but I was also charged more than them. I feel this is unfair as we wouldn’t have gone there at all if g/f wasn’t an option so they had gained 3 new customers. We won’t be returning.

We booked for the Tea Bus that does a tour along the seafront while you enjoy afternoon tea. We paid extra for the VIP front seats which was completely worth it as we had the best view and lots of locals wave at the bus as it passes. The sandwiches, scones and cakes were delicious and the perfect amount of food to feel full but able to finish it all. Tea or coffee is served at the stopping points (toilet-break included) in pretty travel mugs. The bus is decorated beautifully and the driver was very friendly. I called in the morning to enquire whether we had to book for an afternoon tea, as my mother in law needs to have a gluten free option. They were very polite on the phone and explained I didn’t have to pre-book, and to just rock up. I advised I would come in the afternoon in that case. When we arrived there were other people dining but no waiting staff, we took and seat and then waited, a waitress came from the back and saw to the other tables but didn’t acknowledge us. We then waited again for about another 15mins. When the waitress finally came over with the menu we said we would like the afternoon tea for two with one needing to be gluten free. Off she went but then moments later came back and said we had to book for a gluten free one! I then explained I already called and said we would be combing in and that I didn’t need to pre book!! Then another waitress then came back and said there would be a further 20min wait while they defrost the gluten free option even though they knew we were coming in. We decided to wait and have the afternoon tea, when it arrived it was presented lovely, the sandwiches were lovely and on thick bread. The gluten free option however only had one scone whereas the normal afternoon tea had two. The cakes were also not very nice and tasted stale so we left them. When we came to pay the lady took the money gave me the change and before I could even ask for a receipt she turned around to go and sit out in the back, as I turned to leave none of the staff said goodbye, thank you or enjoy your day! They made us feel very unwelcome and like we were an inconvenience for asking for the specific dietary requirement. I won’t be going back.

So this review is slightly uncomfortable for me as I have loved coming here in the past. Thought we would drop in for breakfast this morning and arrived just after it opened. We ordered coffee and vegetarian breakfasts, you know the full English without the meat! The coffee arrived only warm, not enough warmth to melt the sugar. So we had them replaced with fresh ones which were better. The lady explained that the machine was a bit temperamental first thing in the morning. When the breakfasts arrived they looked good, but clearly on cold plates the food was not going to retain any heat. The food, for the second time in recent months has not been hot and has left us disappointed. The overall impression of the place has slipped and sadly we will choose somewhere else for the time being.

Took my friend and our kids on the tea bus and it made for a lovely afternoon. It was a bit expensive but the experience was great. Had a bit of trouble booking online with a US credit card but they took it over the phone with no problems. We booked 2 tables and asked that no sandwiches at my table have mayonnaise, which they greatly accommodated. The tea, the sandwiches, and cakes we all wonderful. Almost missed this experience as the door was locked and the place looked empty, luckily as we considered our plans we found another door to the "new" Frieda's and it was worth looking for. Start with a customer car park and walk to the second door, nice bright clean interior. Friendly, quick service with a limited choice of good fresh tasty food. Try and resist the cakes if you can, that's a challenge. Busy at three of the five tables on a February Wednesday lunch.

Visited here to share the Frieda’s cream tea one afternoon with 1 other person. It was probably the best cream tea I’ve ever had, the sandwiches were thick, scones were warm, and cakes were nice. All tasted amazing. Not too expensive either! The staff were really friendly. The only thing I would improve is that one of the waiters was a bit stressed and couldn’t seem to remember who had ordered what... maybe he was new? He was very friendly so it wasn’t really a problem I guess. He also needed a spray of deodorant... again, not a criticism, just a suggestion! The food made it totally worth it. I’ll be back.

Being a couple from London, usually spoilt for choice on Brunch options and menus we were perhaps sceptical on what Bournemouth had to offer. We braved the rain to get to Frieda's in search of eggs and avo. What a little find. Buttery eggs and door stop toast. Sausage so tasty and of butchers quality. Staff, James and Blossom super friendly, welcoming and couldn't do enough to make sure our experience was perfect. No judgement on our particulars and plenty of genuine smiles. We spent the whole time eyeing up the home baked Scones and cakes on offer. Couldn't recommend this place enough. We are Grandparents in our late 40's and early 50's and consider ourselves foodies, who do a lot of home cooking as well as eating out reguarly. When eat out we do not expect 'perfection' (things do go wrong sometimes). We do expect friendly staff, a nice atmosphere and good food. We always try to be subjective and give an honest review. We went for a bit of lunch on a sunday and went to Frieda's based on their trip advisor reviews, and we are glad to report that the good reviews were well deserved. We were only looking for a light lunch and a decent cuppa, so we both opted for sandwiches. I had the BLT and my wife had a Ham and Coleslaw both on Granary bread. What came up was 2 doorsteps packed with lovely fresh ingredients. The bacon in my BLT was thick cut and really tasty, and the ham in my wife's sandwich was thick cut ham and totally delicious, the coleslaw was home made and tasted lovely. The only small criticism was there was a couple of 'stalky' bits in the coleslaw which were a bit hard, but they were easily removed, and judging by the effort that had gone into the food we guess this was probably an oversight and not normal for this place. I know we only had a couple of sandwiches, but they were generous and some love and care had gone into them, so we have no doubt that whatever you ordered at Frieda's would be of the same quality. The tea was good too!!Would definitely recommend and we will go back when we are next in Bournemouth.(They also run a 'tea bus' twice a week which gives you a tour of the local coastline whilst serveing a traditional 3 tiered tea which looked really interesting, and not bad value if you factor in you get a tour as well as afternoon tea. We will give this a go next time we are in the area).Bruce and Diane x x

There was 8 of us on a visit and whilst the food was delicious, service wasn't as great. We had to get up several times to ask for extra hot water for the tea, tap water for the table and more milk. There were a few times that we couldn't see any staff at all and considering we were the only other table in there and had booked, I would have expected better service. I have given them a 4 because the food was great and there was plenty of it so none of us could complain on that front and in the end that is the main thing that counts.

I've been going to Frieda's for a few years and it is one of the best breakfast joints in Bournemouth. The ingredients are quality, the service is always great and the seating is comfortable. They also have parking round he back which is always handy for a town centre location. Their cakes are amazing too!

Just had a really pleasant afternoon with a group of girlfriends to celebrate two March birthdays. The staff at Frieda’s Tea Room were welcoming and attentive, the endless tea was refreshing and the sandwiches/cakes were scrummy. We had two different dietary requirements (veggie & gluten free) which were well catered for. Highly recommend the tea rooms, we might try Frieda’s Bus next

Second visit over a 6 month period, again having the Dorset Afternoon Tea. The sandwiches were fantastic, especially the egg mayo and chicken mayo, the bread was beautifully fresh and the sandwiches a decent size. Scones on the small side but wonderfully fresh and still warm. Plenty of cakes too, ranging from Lemon, Victoria Sponge and Chocolate, the latter being slightly on the dry side but cocoa does have a tendency to result in a drier sponge. A point lost only because there was a noticeable wait to be asked if we wanted any more tea, but they were very busy will a full tearoom. Would certainly go again, even if to try their breakfasts.

We came here as a group of 4 adults and a toddler. I did not realise that they have expanded to next door and have more space to sit, So we were sat next door, which was good because the toddler had more space! And there was a piano there which we were welcome to play. Staff very friendly and attentive. The cakes were delicious. I would especially recommend the red velvet cake. We also had a Reese's Pieces cake and a salted caramel sponge, all of which were delicious. Lovely relaxed atmosphere. Perfect Sunday morning.

I booked Frieda’s new room for my baby shower. We had 25 guests and it was a great venue as we had the whole new room to ourselves. The afternoon tea was great, really reasonable priced and the scones were amazing. The staff were really friendly and I would definitely go again.

I have been going to Frieda's for the past year pretty much every Thursday lunch time and have never been disappointed. My girlfriend and I love the place, it has great, friendly staff, a superb range of cakes and breakfasts and klunches and you are always made to feel welcome. We are extremely pleased that they have extended through to the next building as on occasions it has been full and we have been very disappointed when we have been unable to have lunch there.

I was wandering through Bournemouth on my way from the train station down to the centre when the cute pink vintage bike caught my eye.. I just had to take a wander to find what Friedas tea room was like. I just wanted a nice light breakfast and somewhere that I would feel comfy dining on my own.. it was perfect The staff where friendly And welcoming and I had a lovely pot of tea and a generous portion of toast.. the tea room has a really homey and cosy feel. There is a wide range of hot and cold drinks available including a great selection of teas..there is also a take away service if you don’t have time to sit and enjoy the tea room I would like to return again one day to try the afternoon tea as the cakes looked delicious.

We were lucky enough to win a cream tea for two at a local raffle for Frieda’s tea room.On arrival we were made to feel so welcome, it is a lovely cafe with a truly homely feel. The cream tea was delicious, scones were warm with plenty of strawberry jam and clotted cream. We had five cups of tea from the pot between us and there was still some more left if wanted. We would highly recommend a visit if you are in the area. They even have a tea bus that tours the local area whilst you are eating, is definitely something to look into doing. We would highly recommend and will definitely be back.

I went here a week ago for a baby shower. There were about 19 of us, we all had the afternoon tea for £15 each. The first thing I noticed was that the coffee was awfully week and had to ask to have it made stronger but was still so week. No one came round at all to make sure the tea was topped up if there was enough milk etc, we had to keep getting up and asking several times. The worse thing tho was that the cakes were all stale, which was so disappointing. Nearly all the girls had left there cakes because they were so stale. The sandwiches were lovely obviously made fresh, but having emailed them to let them know, they didn’t bother getting back in contact just to apologise. So no I wouldn’t waste my money going here again!

Perfect white door stop bread, quality sausages cooked to perfection. Homemade cakes are also on display, they have at least 4 or 5 to choose from and the portion sizes on a slice is generous. A very friendly homely cafe, a little gem in central bournemouth. Tricia the manager is particularly kind, she will go the extra mile to make sure you enjoy your food and the experience of Freida’s cafe.

A great start to a hen party of 22 people. Plenty of food and the tea and coffee flowed nicely, the lady at the front of it all, never catches her name was lovely and made sure no one came through the door as we had the whole tea room for just us. Can't thank them enough.we even had boxes to take left over cake with us!

Well worth a visit. Such a charming little place. Very quaint with great customer service. My mom and I each had a cream tea which was delicious and the tea is served in little vintage china mugs. Even the bathrooms had actual hand towels instead of paper towels. They even let us park our car for free while we ran into town, which I thought was very kind. Recommended to anyone who likes a cozy environment to have a cream tea, although their cakes, sandwiches and afternoon tea all looked delicious as well.

Had been meaning to visit for ages and finally got round to popping in with my Mum. We had heard about the amazing cakes so decided to share a sandwich so we had room for cake! The sandwich we had was great. Very tasty. We went for the brie and cranberry option. They had a great selection of cakes on offer so I tried the oreo one. It was great! Service was very friendly. I will definitely be back!

Went to Frieda's on a Saturday morning for a big breakfast before hitting Bournemouth's shops. The place is tucked away off the Old Christchurch Road nearer to Lansdowne than the Square. It is worth seeking out. Breakfast was excellent, the sausages were particularly tasty. Service was efficient and warm. The cakes on display looked very tempting particularly the chocolate Oreo cake, but I had to restrain myself from buying a slice due to being full from the delicious breakfast!

We came aboard friedas teabus as a special treat for my mums 60th birthday and we loved it! The bus is converted into a mobile tearoom! The food, homemade sandwiches, cakes and macaroons were all delicious and we have lovely scones that were served warm! We were even offered seconds of the sandwiches!! The bus takes you on a scenic tour along Bournemouth coastline and stops for a comfort break at hengistbury head. We were upstairs and had great views!! The endless tea/coffee were served in covered travel mugs which is definitely needed on some bumpy roads!! - but you do get to drink your drink when the bus has stopped! Fresh orange juice served on arrival was a nice touch! Mum had a brilliant time and we will be booking to board again soon! Big thanks to the lovely staff too, they were very friendly and took photos of us to help make memories of our trip!

Wish I'd read these reviews before going with my son for a long overdue catch up. Shocking service. Absolutely shocking. Lovely smiling waitresses giving the impression nothing was too much trouble. It clearly was far too much trouble. It's as if immediately you request something the delete button activates in the waiting staff. We ordered the following: tap water, egg mayonnaise sandwich, chicken sandwich and fries. Shouldn't be beyond most cafes to get sorted. After 20 mins no water which meant I had to go up ask for it again - not withstanding it as it was a very very warm day (despite being October!) and we were outside. After 30 minutes no lunch, asked where it was. Finally rocked up - and to my horror they toasted my bread for my egg mayo sandwich. Why? I wasn't asked if I wanted it toasted. OH - and no choice of brown or white bread. Chips were nice. Sandwich OK. My son liked his sandwich. Only one loo which wasn't particularly pleasant. Really don't bother. There are plenty of other options nearby. Wish we'd gone with the Caribbean option we looked at first.

Camden in Westbourne is a great spot for a night out with friends or a casual dinner. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting, and the staff is friendly and attentive. The drink selection is impressive, with a wide variety of beers, wines, and cocktails. The food is also delicious, with a menu that features everything from small plates to hearty entrees. Here are a few highlights from my experience: * The beer selection is amazing! There are so many different types to choose from, and they're all well-kept. * The cocktails are also delicious and creative. * The food is fresh and flavorful. I had the fish and chips, and it was cooked to perfection. * The staff is friendly and attentive. They make sure you have everything you need and that your experience is enjoyable. Overall, I had a great time at Camden in Westbourne. It's a great place to go for a drink, a bite to eat, or just to relax and enjoy the atmosphere. I highly recommend it!
