We went looking for a sandwich, knowing that French Village are well known for sandwiches. Well, on a Sunday they don't do sandwiches. So the alternative is a sit down meal. It is a poor selection of student hangover food at high prices... Lasagne and chips, chilli beef and chips, goujons and chips etc... You get the picture. I had vegetable soup. Very small soup, with two slices of wheaten which were very nice. However - £5.50! . Partner had choice of 3 scones from a menu with about 6 or more.. The rest were sold out (i.e. probably never made). I wasn't specifically looking for it, but could see no obvious signs of a vegan or vegetarian choice on the menu,.,.. The coffee was fine. There are a numerous better places within 2-5 minutes that will cater for you far better. Will not go back (unless I'm stuck for a sandwich and its a Mon-Sat !) Just for the record the Museum café does better and cheaper Scones. Café Conor does better everything although is slightly dearer. Kaffe O does great fresh salads / soups etc... Maggie Mays does all the French Village stuff but better ..Look around!

The bang bang chicken looked really good too. The restaurant was busy but the service was good and it didn’t take too long to arrive. My only criticism is perhaps some of the tables are a bit close together so the kids at the table next to us who kept getting out of their seats past us every five minutes was a bit distracting.

We were not invisable or hidden behind a pillar. We ordered Earl grey tea and poached egg with added bacon. When the person read the order out they just said tea so said again Earl Grey. When the tea came it wasn't Earl Grey but normal tea. So that got changed but when the poached eggs came there was no bacon so this was put on as a separate order after ten minutes still no bacon so cancelled it as had eaten the rest of the meal. The food was nice it was such a shame the service was so poor, what it must bee like when it's busy I don't know but I won't be going there again to try it out.

We were initially going to stick to the amazing cakes but having seen the food menu we decided on sandwiches and sadly couldn't manage a cake aswell! Perfect! ( I did not ask for the breakfast menu- note the breakfast menu finishes At 2, which I was there before but had to wait due to it being very busy). I asked her again would it not be possible for a chef to do my any kind of egg to which she replied again that the breakfast menu was finished. So a chef couldn’t have simply thrown on an egg? As a waitress myself I understand if something isn’t on the menu it cannot be done, but come on a simple egg?? Would take about 2 minutes?? Really cute little café with a variety of brunch and lunch items. Had a wrap one evening with friends which was tasty, but breakfast the following week was the winner. I had blueberry pancakes with bacon and maple syrup: the bacon was crunchy without being greasy which perfectly complemented the softness of the pancakes, and the saltiness went very well with the sweet syrup and blueberries. A classic combination very well executed.

On our first evening in Belfast we were struggling to find somewhere for a simple dinner and thought this looked OK. we were shown to a table immediately and then advised that they did not have a licence. I was shown where there was a small supermarket 2 minutes across the road.

Dined here over the weekend as a party of 10. Booked well in advance and were asked to pre order off a set menu which was fine for us. In the evening it’s byob which was also great for our group.

Ordered pancake stacks and a bagel, along with some drinks. Pancake stacks were deemed to be quite nice but the toasted "bagel" a complete disappointment - nothing more than an expensive toasted bap with a hole in the middle. I said I was disappointed with what had been served as a bagel, to be told "you're used to the chewy American-style bagel". No - I'm used to a bagel, not a bap masquerading as a bagel. Bagel lovers, you have been warned.

Visited to buy a box of pastries. 4 staff members behind the bar, restocking, another doing stock check and none seemingly interested in serving me. Priorities seem out of check. One member of staff stood directly facing me picking pastries for a sit-in order. Seemingly uninterested in the lack of service afforded to me. I walked out and they lost custom. I’m a previous customer who won’t visit again.

In Belfast for a show at the nearby Lyric and thought French Village would be the perfect spot for lunch beforehand. It certainly was not our day and turned out to be a bit of a comedy. Small queue waiting when we arrived, which was fine. When we were seated, looked at menus and we both ordered Salads. 10 mins later the apologetic waitress came back to let us know the salads menu page should not have been included as "the deli does not do salads on Sundays"? No problem, we looked again and both ordered the specials highlighted on 1st page of the menu. !0 mins later......same apology, those were Saturdays Specials and not available. Should not have been in the menu pages we were given. At this stage, we just wanted to order food so picked other dishes. Third time unlucky, Waitress was back again to explain some ingredients (courgette, I think) and Bread (can we swap panini for Ciabatta) was unavailable. At this stage, we felt like leaving as we were not running late for the Lyric with all the over and back conversations about our order. When food finally arrived, it was fine, nothing worth commenting on either good or bad. Of course, we were then late for the Lyric but maybe it was just not our day. By the way, the Waitress concerned was lovely and tried to be helpful. Only reason I'm highlighting all of this in a review is that the Manager should ensure daily menus are 100% checked before being put out each day. The place looked nice, was busy and other customers seemed to be having a good time. I guess we were just unlucky and will have to get it another try!

Dropped in here as I am staying locally on business. What a wonderful place for my first meal in Belfast. The vegetables were noticeably fresh and the fish melted in my mouth. I rounded it all off with a delicious citrus cheesecake and could have added a coffee which would have taken the bill to still be just shy of £30 for 3 courses and that coffee I didn't have. I will be back for the coffee and to try more on the menu if I get back to Belfast again.

We have had the odd business dinner in France Village for the past year and it never fails to impress. The food is excellent, well priced and delicious which is not always easy to achieve when feeding large groups.

This is such a lovely place but the service was terrible. Great service and food on the Lisburn Road store but there needs to be a shake up in this branch. Please do a mystery shop and you’ll see for yourself, I don’t like being harsh towards local businesses but the experience was so bad!

We recently ate here twice. Last Thursday outside around 11:00 a.m. for cake and tea. Waitress seemed a bit put out as we were about to sit at an empty table when she came outside (think we should have gone inside to ask to be seated first). However once that was sorted the tea and cakes were delivered quickly and were both good.

This is a nice enough cafe but it is NOT French, the name is misleading - they had told me it's the owner's surname but anyways, one goes expecting to be served French pastries and food but instead this is just standard, plain, simple Northern Irish food (not exactly cuisine!). Coffee is OK and food is OK but it's plain and simple N. Irish comfort food (traybakes, flat whites, etc) that you wouldn't find in a proper French cafe. It's OK, not very expensive but service is not great, just OK.

Went here a good few times during my time at uni in Belfast. Takeaway lunch is really quick and is moderately priced. Great range of sandwiches and toasties as well as hot food such as soup or baked potatoes. There is also sit in facilities although they are veey busy at lunch time.

I took breakfast here four times during my visit to Queens Quarter. It was close to my hotel but I returned for the food, the ambience, and especially the tea. It was a good place just to sit, be, and begin my day. The servers were all friendly but not intrusive. I can only comment on breakfast -- but for breakfast for me it was perfect.
