Cafe Mauds in Belfast

Ice cream was out of this world delicious. Staff so lovely and friendly great atmosphere. Next time we visit Northern Ireland we are definitely going there again.

A good cafe, always busy. I love the mix ins. Sometimes have to wait but it’s good to see businesses that are able to get as much custom. Only issue is that they could do with extending the shop making it bigger as it can be quite crowded.

Brutal and two milkshakes for 11 pounds one scoop of ice cream in them won't be back

Food is disgusting Why do cafe's assume everyone eats cheese, The staff did'nt even have the gaul to ask if there was an issue despite the fact I left my food on another table to be noticed,, Two visits today, First and Last

I must say, the cuisine at this cafeteria is absolutely delightful! It's not just good; it's truly delectable! The freshness and quality of the food are impeccable, with a wide array of cuisines to cater to every taste. I highly recommend this place for a meal. For a special treat, indulge in their pancakes or waffles, accompanied by a delicious hot chocolate. And if you're here for lunch, you simply must try the eggs benedict. The food here is exceptional, and I thoroughly enjoy every visit. I'll definitely be returning again someday!

Call in from time to time to get a take out lunch. The café never fails to impress me and the staff are lovely. It was absolute bedlam today with people queuing for seats but I was able to bypass them to get a takeaway. I got the soup as usual with fresh wheaten bread. Staff buttered it for me and offered to carry it out as I was on a crutch. The leek and potato soup was very tasty and amazing. Would definitely recommend Café Mauds as a really nice place to eat. The mains are delicious and compared to some places, very reasonably priced.

Nice atmosphere and great waffles. However, after checking my bank and menu afterwards, they overcharged me by over £2 when I only ordered one item.

Visited Mauds a few days ago and it wasn’t particularly crowded or busy. Waited 5 minutes to be seated and then…. Nothing for a further 10 minutes. Not even asked if we would like a drink once seated. Left and went to 5A where the service was slick and professional. Have used Mauds in the past and had a great experience, might have been an off day but not sure we will return 🤔

Visited on 9th of December 2023 with my family. Staff were friendly but service was incredibly slow. I spent over £5 for an embarrassingly small piece of cake. It was nice but absolutely tiny. Twice serving staff approached my table with the wrong order. My wife did enjoy her crepes though and said they were delicious. I would find it hard to justify visiting again.

Really like it here. We go about once a week between class and gym sessions. Can be busy but food is always nice and staff are friendly and accommodating.

Really tasty brunch - pancake stack and chorizo scrambled egg were both delicious!

Left waiting while staff talked among themselves looking at me from time to time. Had to ask to get service. Customer service is left wanting. I would recommend customer service training.

Really nice cafe on the Lisburn Road serving great quality food

Asked for kinder bueno and honeycomb icecream milkshake this consisted of 3 scoops of the ivecream and a tiny drop of milk. £11 for x2 milkshakes is daylight robbery and it's the worst milkshake I've ever had. Had to takeaway as place had no seats. Will avoid in future.

Visited here some while ago, during lockdown. Staff were lovely and very accommodating, service was great and food was excellent. If I had one criticism it would be this, I ordered poached eggs with bacon, poached eggs were excellent, however, the bacon appeared to have been deep fried, (a poor chefs / cooks lazy way to cook bacon). Had the bacon been fried the tradional way it would've been 5 stars. Nonetheless, I would go back and just not have the bacon.

This little ice cream shop is amazing! There are lots of different varieties of flavours for you to try. The staff were very friendly and their ice cream was absolutely delicious! I would definitely recommend going to this small shop. I would definitely recommend if going there get cookies and cream.

Decided to go as I wanted a good crepe, Jesus was I sorry I went here. Crepe was under cooked, literal jelly and far too thick. Hence not a crepe. Inexperienced staff cooking these crepes (young ones) obviously not the young ones fault as owners trying to save on hiring older staff. Really disappointed. Just a money making scheme. Didn’t say anything as didn’t want to make a fuss over a crepe but didn’t touch it and got up and left. Hope they took the hint.

Nice atmosphere, helpful and friendly staff. The place can be very busy, be prepared for queueing.. prices are on the bit pricy end if you are going in numbers, but the quality is good 👍 ... Thanks folks 👏

Lovely busy place, great selection of deli type foods plus lasagne, various sausage rolls, salads etc. The cakes, waffles, ice creams (soo many flavours ) milkshakes etc look nearly too appealing. Busy so you may need to wait - but it's worth it.

You'll never be let down for food at any Maud's, and this place is no different. The only fly in the ointment is the battery hen feeling of being crammed in when it's busy.

My self and my partner love this place , we always in it but just tonight Saturday the 12/08 , there was a waitress going up and down clearing straight away people not even finish yet , it did feel like want you to eat and drink finish and leave was very disappointed, as it's a popular place and our favourite place to come we come with the idea to wait to get a seat and than feel we get push out by eat and hurry up

Very tasty veggie crêpes here ( other fillings available!) Good coffee too.

Bought a group of 23 students in for an end of year treat. They couldn’t have been more accommodating to fit us all in and looked after the girls really well. Service was incredible considering the quantity of orders and the food was beautiful! A really happy place and the children loved it! Thank you!

I’ve been looking for a waffle place in Belfast and just recently discovered Cafe Mauds. Their waffle is by far the best I have tried in belfast. My favourite in their menu is the banana and toffee waffle. The banana balances out the sweetness of the toffee and I think they are a perfect combination. Definitely recommending place to those looking for a good dessert place.

Always busy. A good sign. Our go to for mid morning coffee and scones. Selection of food looks great. Lots of ice creams. WiFi.

Clean, with fast service & really tasty. Lovely staff came around offering free coffee top up. Nice touch. I Will be back.

Poor service. Was standing.. Waiting for a table but ignored!

The food was very good but it feels very cramped. The tables are so close together. The staff are friendly. There was a guy behind the counter who just came a cross as a bit grumpy (he was heating up the food).

It's much better than I expected and more than an ice cream shop. The food was good and a lot of choice. It's just a little noisy. It has now been refurbished, though the space for takeout customers has much reduced and often you have to que outside.

Went to cafe mauds for Sunday breakfast. The food service and atmosphere were very good.

Stopped for dessert. Honestly, the crepes and the ice cream sundaes were some of the best we have ever had! Lovely service. If you are in Belfast, don't miss this place!

Odd lay out when u arrive to be seated

We popped in here on a wet rainy Thursday night and there was a fabulous atmosphere. The deli ended at 6 so we just got coffeee scone and which were all delicious. My son adored his chocolate sundae and the staff were extremely helpful when I had a specific request. Will certainly be back!

Always a great experience eating in MAUDS. The food is always fresh and really tasty. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Love it here.

Too sweet ice creams but plenty options.

I’ve been a couple times since the refurb (looks great by the way!) however the seating situation just isn’t good. It seems like there is less space than before. I keep being shown to the tables at the back that are so close to each other that you feel like you’re with the people next to you. Some table tetris has to go on to get onto the back seat and again to leave, so either you or the people beside you will be disrupted to get this sorted each time. It’s not helped by having to go up and order after being shown to your seat. I had someone’s coat swishing over my food while they tried to sit down which was gross, then had our table number knocked off the table by someone else while we held onto our drinks for safekeeping. The queue for seats doesn’t move particularly fast as there is only one person on the floor, who seems to be responsible for clearing, cleaning, and sorting the queue. When you get your seat you get given the menu, then you have to get up again to join the queue to order….if you forget any cutlery/napkins it’s up again. Remember every time you get up it’s likely you’ll need to make room to manoeuvre! Now the food - it was good! Staff are super. No complaints. However overshadowed by being uncomfortable. They would need to remove one of the tables at the back to give people a bit of elbow room.

As a loyal costumer to mauds for many years the new refurbishment simply disappoints. It feels much more cramped when sitting down with larger unneeded walkways. Much to my disappointment, the prices have also been raised. I think Mauds are finally giving their competitors on the Lisburn Road a chance !! I will still visit Mauds, but I’m not sure it will still hold the same fondness in my heart. Didn’t need a refurb - was perfect as it was!

I went to the newly refurbished Cafe Mauds today and was really impressed with the new menu, friendly staff and decor! I had the sweetcorn fritters followed by biscoff cheesecake and coffee - everything was delicious, I can't wait to go again and try something else off the new menu...

Food was delicious. I had the goats cheese open sandwich it was very filling and the pickeled carrot was unreal. Staff were pleasant and efficient. Love the new decor.

Called into Mauds for a spot of breakfast after they recently opened again after their refurb and it did not disappoint! I opted for the Eggs Benedict. They were very accommodating as I asked for no sourdough toast but substituted with spinach instead, which was no problem whatsoever. Absolutely beautiful. I will definitely be returning again soon.

We went there at Friday after 7pm and was very busy and crowded.. Didn't bother us though. We got brownies and crepes all very very delicious for reasonable price. On top of that spectacular mauds poor bear ice cream. Definitely we will be back :)

Was in last night, ordered at the till after we were seated. Didn’t get a number for our order. Seen the server walk past with our food and asked him if that was “our order” which it was, the server proceeded to sit it down in front of us. Then take it back as our order number was on a different table…and put it down on that table then brought it back to our table as it was our order..no apologies for taking our food away or the mix up. Not to mention the server was quite Rude and sarcastic to us because we didn’t have a number. I understand that business are busy on the run up to Xmas with new staff etc.

I went here and they gave me the wrong thing. Because I have social anxiety I was too scared to tell them so I spent £4 an Ice Cream I didn't eat

The service wasn't great though polite. The cup of tea was nice but the croissant was over baked. There was a strong smell of burning in the building and the smell stayed on my clothes. The saucer of my cup was badly worn and stained and the plate for my croissant was chipped, marked and possibly dirty. I'll not be making a return visit. There are many better cafés beside it, probably best to visit them next time.

I never, ever write reviews but just thought the service in Maud's was exceptional especially Jodie (the manager?). I was really impressed how she was able to keep the queue of diners abreast of how long they would be waiting and also how quickly she was able to get the tables cleaned and turned round when diners left. I was there with my son and future daughter-in-law and everything we ordered was delicious and delivered to our table quickly. I have recommended going to friends - mainly due to the service. If I had a small business I would poach this girl - she knows about customer service!! Thanks to all the staff

Great choice of food that all tastes gorgeous.

Service at peak times is very very slow and twice we had to send back our order because it was wrong (not just a little wrong but completely wrong). The few times I have been in there is rarely enough seating for everyone mainly due to people having to wait so long on their order. Food is good and ice cream is some of the best about but ruined by slow service.

The variety of food available was varied and tasty. Service was very swift.

I wasn't needed at work as early as I thought a few weeks ago and I called in for some breakfast. The service was brilliant. Staff were diligently working preparing for the day ahead. I have returned today for lunch wuth my son and the cafe is exceptionally busy but still the same standard of service is evident. Not only are the staff fantastic but. The food is pretty tasty too. Will definitely be back in the future.

One of our favourite cafes in Belfast, food is always great, especially the soup and sandwich deal. Ice cream and crepes are also very good.staff always friendly

Consistently good food snd service.

My wife and I had coffee in Cafe Mauds while our grandchildren chose the Kids menu. Each of them selected Baked beans with sausages on toast. The toast was soggy, the sausages inedible and there is not much harm can be done to warming baked beans. I attempted to cut the sausages into slices which proved impossible. As a qualified Commis Chef I can say with some confidence that these fat pork sausages were pre boiled, stored -then over done in a microwave oven creating an impenetrable log. I did not complain at time because the enthusiastic very young staff clearly didn't know what they were doing wrong. I will correspond with the owners to share our experience.

Outstanding service and a lovely range of food makes Mauds a lovely hidden gem on a road with plenty of competition. Was really impressed with my breakfast this morning and the staff couldn't have been more attentive and helpful.

Always like a visit to Café Mauds. I used to go with my daughter sometimes after school. Now we bring our granddaughter, she and I had ice creams on our most recent visit and my husband had coffee and a scone with jam and cream. There is a good selection of ice cream flavours and plenty of other options if you don't want ice cream. Good for a visit before or after the park (Drumglass Park is directly opposite).

It's a busy place most of times but it lacks management & organisation. Entrance & Exit are blocked either ways. 2 busy girls on the Ice cream counter runs under pressure & other 2 just stand there & watch & even The Manager doesn't seem bothered. I wld just say that lucky 3nough to be busy in these circumstances.

Food was good a ham turkey and cranberry stuffed wrap and a cajun chicken and avocado. The problem is that staff seemed to be reluctant to clear tables and get people seated. Waited in a q for a table where there where tables with people gone. Need to sharpen up

The staff in the cafe is friendly. It is good place to have a dessert bite. Highly recommend the Belgian chocolate and banana crepes. It has a lot of options for choosing and favourable for everyone.
