Cafe Mauds in Belfast

A top notch café with an amazing variety of pastries! I love the atmosphere and the vibe.

We received our order with items missing! The food was good would have been better if we received our full order! We payed for the items so this is disappointing

prompt and polite delivery driver. food was delivered on time and in mint condition. the icecream was still cold and secured within its pot with a fitted lid... no sticky spillages. the chocolate cake was divine. this is my first time ordering from cafe mauds, and it won't be my last. excellent service. overall very pleasant experience

Over all a mediocre experience, the food was nice but it wasn't made with care (i got a sandwich with mozzarella and tomato, my partner got a caesar salad which he couldn't finish as he didn't enjoy it as much). This was my first experience in this mauds, I've had desserts and breakfasts from the other locations which have been really nice. I would recommend mauds for their desserts and sweet stuff but not for lunch. Staff lack communication and there's a lot of self service such as going up to order, trying to find where they keep the cutlery and bringing down your own coffee. We don't mind doing self service but when my partner ordered our coffee the staff member just turned around and started to make it, without saying whether to wait on it or sit down. Furthermore, when our food was brought out we would have appreciated a staff member letting us know where we could get our cutlery from. I would have took a photo of the food but we were too busy trying to figure out where the cutlery was. I should add that when we went there were only a few other small tables in, the place was pretty quiet. I usually like mauds but I definitely won't be back to this location for lunch, if you're a tourist there's other locations in Belfast to eat with better service for the same price. I also wouldn't recommend vegetarians going to mauds for lunch.

Didn't give ice cream with waffle

Staff and service: We came here for a bit of late night dessert and coffee, as it was the only place near us that was still open. We were actually looking forward to it as we had read many good reviews. We were waiting in line hoping to get a decent enough table. While waiting, we were standing by the door. Some of my family members were already on queue for ordering. The staff then asked us if we could sit in the middle aisle while waiting. We had a baby on the pram and an elderly with us so it was very uncomfortable. They had high chairs and since it was the middle aisle, people were passing by and would bump into us. We didnt mind because we had understood the store was quite busy that time. By the time we got our orders, there was an empty table, it was fit enough for us, we had hoped to be seated so we started to transfer our things but then the staff approached us and said we could not sit in there as she had to give to it to another group that was still queueing. We had clearly came in before them. Even though we had asked multiple times to be seated in a table, the staff still refused and insisted that she will be giving it to other customers. We even asked why she would not let us sit on a table, she just plainly refused and gave us a pathetic excuse saying “they were not allowed to”. The staff was obviously nonchalant to our needs and requests. Also, we noticed that when we were on the till to give our orders, the staff was very impatient. We havent finished giving out all our orders yet, but she just turned her back on us. As a result, some of our orders were wrong. Their staff probably need more training on customer service, which I think is very essential when working in this environment. A very bad first experience. I would probably not be coming back here anytime soon and would not recommend it to others. P. S. we noticed we were the only non caucasian customers there at that time, but I would give them a benefit of the doubt and not assume that the staff were rac**t towards us. Food: desserts were okay and pricey. Coffee: nothing special and quite expensive. Atmosphere: not enough space but they had nice and instagram-worthy decors.

Ordered strawberry sauce and actual strawberries were sent? Also half the toppings missing.

With our brother and sister in law and their little rascal, we had 3 Americano, cappuccino, cookie dough, mix ins ice cream, blue surf ice cream for the little guy. I had delicious pear & almond scone. All was delicious and reasonable priced. We came back two days later and were slightly disappointed with the coffee and unavailability of some of the items.

One of the best cafes in Belfast for breakfast or a quick coffee break. Highly recommend.

Honestly horrified at how one of your staff members spoke to my family members when we went into the store this evening. The girl that was serving my sisters was interrupted by a blonde girl who I was told is called Aoife and who was extremely dismissive and rude. Honestly she was acting like she had taken drugs with her wide eyes and agitated demeanour. This caused my sister to become extremely intimidated and distressed. I couldn’t believe this as we had always had nice experiences here but she really let you all down.

"I saw that it received 5 stars for hygiene standards, but it was far from hygienic. The knives, spoons, and forks were all poorly washed, and the napkin holder was filthy. Additionally, cleaning the area where they add sauce to the ice cream with a blue napkin seemed very unhygienic. Since it’s an ice cream station, instead of using a blue napkin, the surface layer of ice should be properly cleaned to make it ready for service. I came to this place because of its high ratings on Google, but I was very disappointed and, due to the lack of hygiene standards, I'm giving it 1 star. Also, the ice cream itself was nothing special; it felt like eating regular store-bought ice cream. Even '99' ice creams taste better than this."

Una gran noche en “café mauds” Lisburn ramal de carretera. Fui recibido por un amor absoluto que sonreía de oreja a oreja. Nunca en mi vida había visto un conjunto de blancos perlados. Y la selección de helados - Dios mío las elecciones! Al final opté por el clásico “Pooh bear” - ¡fue delicioso! De todas formas - debe ir de cabeza ahora - los hervidores hirvieron y mi taza de té de la noche está listo! ¡Pip pip!

£11 for two 'milkshakes'. Two scoops of ice cream blended with 300ml of milk, resulting in a thin unpleasant milky liquid. £5.50 each. Obscene.

Went for iceCream/desserts late afternoon. It was crowded and we had to wait for being seated. The place was v busy, buzzing n noisy with family crowd. We went with teenaged kids and didn't mind the rush, infact would describe it lively . But maybe not for someone looking for a quieter setting. Chocolate Sunday is a large portion size n we struggled to finish it all even though it was yumm. Nothing to complain there. Mixins of both Chocolate n Strawberry were great . Cheese cake comes with an option of ice-cream or cream. We mistakenly said ice-cream but we're also served cream when asked later, promptly by our server. Great wee outlet n we love popping down there at all times of the day.

Collected food and it was not what I had ordered. Cookie, freezing with 2 tubs of ice cream thrown into bag. Milkshake tasted like it had been sitting for an hour prior. No straw to drink milkshake with. As if statf couldn’t have cared less putting this order together

Ate here today, had poached eggs on toast, only issue I had was eggs were extremely small, for £6 I'd expect large eggs. Other than that everything was good, service was excellent. I would return but will be asking for larger eggs 😁

Love the speciality cheesecakes here, the best one being walnut pistachio cheesecake. However, the carrot gâteau wasn't up to the mark and I have had better ones elsewhere. Overall it's definitely quite priced compared to the portion served.

Visited with my elderly mother for a mix-in. The staff were very friendly, and the place was very clean. As always it was delicious, just need to add the 'white berry berry mix-in' back to the menu!

Good choice of cakes and deserts, which my family enjoyed. Choice of gluten free deserts isn't great but good to have a choice of vegan ice creams and dairy free alternative milk for hot drinks.

A good cafe, always busy. I love the mix ins. Sometimes have to wait but it’s good to see businesses that are able to get as much custom. Only issue is that they could do with extending the shop making it bigger as it can be quite crowded.

Myself and my friends went to cafe mauds for some milkshakes and smoothies, order it and was waiting for it to then be served a “warm milkshake” I then asked it this meant to be a little warm and she was like sorry what and offered it to put in in them freezer so I accepted but then to me sitting at my table and hear her say to her colleagues “ imagine that wee girl complaining about her milkshake” and laughing about it was completely disgusting and so disrespectful I will not be back I was made a fresh milkshake that’s cold the way they are meant to be. The girl that brought this fresh one down was lovely but the service was terrible especially it being my first time and not something I would expect on the Lisburn road.

First time we’ve ordered the waffles were perfect! Second time (this time) my waffle was partially burned and partially gummy and another part was ok. The second one we had was slightly “dry” not as a waffle should be… ice cream on point tho!

Call in from time to time to get a take out lunch. The café never fails to impress me and the staff are lovely. It was absolute bedlam today with people queuing for seats but I was able to bypass them to get a takeaway. I got the soup as usual with fresh wheaten bread. Staff buttered it for me and offered to carry it out as I was on a crutch. The leek and potato soup was very tasty and amazing. Would definitely recommend Café Mauds as a really nice place to eat. The mains are delicious and compared to some places, very reasonably priced.

Nice atmosphere and great waffles. However, after checking my bank and menu afterwards, they overcharged me by over £2 when I only ordered one item.

Visited Mauds a few days ago and it wasn’t particularly crowded or busy. Waited 5 minutes to be seated and then…. Nothing for a further 10 minutes. Not even asked if we would like a drink once seated. Left and went to 5A where the service was slick and professional. Have used Mauds in the past and had a great experience, might have been an off day but not sure we will return 🤔

Visited on 9th of December 2023 with my family. Staff were friendly but service was incredibly slow. I spent over £5 for an embarrassingly small piece of cake. It was nice but absolutely tiny. Twice serving staff approached my table with the wrong order. My wife did enjoy her crepes though and said they were delicious. I would find it hard to justify visiting again.

Really like it here. We go about once a week between class and gym sessions. Can be busy but food is always nice and staff are friendly and accommodating.

Half the large tubs where empty. I’m not sure if you have poorly trained staff or what but two half large tubs for £18 come on

Left waiting while staff talked among themselves looking at me from time to time. Had to ask to get service. Customer service is left wanting. I would recommend customer service training.

Asked for kinder bueno and honeycomb icecream milkshake this consisted of 3 scoops of the ivecream and a tiny drop of milk. £11 for x2 milkshakes is daylight robbery and it's the worst milkshake I've ever had. Had to takeaway as place had no seats. Will avoid in future.

Visited here some while ago, during lockdown. Staff were lovely and very accommodating, service was great and food was excellent. If I had one criticism it would be this, I ordered poached eggs with bacon, poached eggs were excellent, however, the bacon appeared to have been deep fried, (a poor chefs / cooks lazy way to cook bacon). Had the bacon been fried the tradional way it would've been 5 stars. Nonetheless, I would go back and just not have the bacon.

Great ice cream. Recommend the mix ins. The Ferrero sundae seems to be taken off the menu often but recommend it too when it’s there. Will have to try some of the others.

This little ice cream shop is amazing! There are lots of different varieties of flavours for you to try. The staff were very friendly and their ice cream was absolutely delicious! I would definitely recommend going to this small shop. I would definitely recommend if going there get cookies and cream.

Amongst the best here. Mix ins are great, all are a must try. I wish you could select things to include in them. Sundaes are distinctly high quality. The Ferrero sundae was like a Ferrero Rocher right through.

Decided to go as I wanted a good crepe, Jesus was I sorry I went here. Crepe was under cooked, literal jelly and far too thick. Hence not a crepe. Inexperienced staff cooking these crepes (young ones) obviously not the young ones fault as owners trying to save on hiring older staff. Really disappointed. Just a money making scheme. Didn’t say anything as didn’t want to make a fuss over a crepe but didn’t touch it and got up and left. Hope they took the hint.

Lovely busy place, great selection of deli type foods plus lasagne, various sausage rolls, salads etc. The cakes, waffles, ice creams (soo many flavours ) milkshakes etc look nearly too appealing. Busy so you may need to wait - but it's worth it.

You'll never be let down for food at any Maud's, and this place is no different. The only fly in the ointment is the battery hen feeling of being crammed in when it's busy.

Saw some reviews about the Just Eat drivers letting the service down, but mine was dead on. Everything was correct and well packaged up. I had the brownie and it was 🤌🏻

My self and my partner love this place , we always in it but just tonight Saturday the 12/08 , there was a waitress going up and down clearing straight away people not even finish yet , it did feel like want you to eat and drink finish and leave was very disappointed, as it's a popular place and our favourite place to come we come with the idea to wait to get a seat and than feel we get push out by eat and hurry up

Bought a group of 23 students in for an end of year treat. They couldn’t have been more accommodating to fit us all in and looked after the girls really well. Service was incredible considering the quantity of orders and the food was beautiful! A really happy place and the children loved it! Thank you!
