Went for drinks at midday on a sunday and nobody else in. Told we can sit anywhere, then the owner or host stood and spoke AT us for 5 minutes talking about himself when all we wanted was a quiet drink. 5 minutes later he came back and asked us to move as others had come in wanting that table, made us sit at bar while he seated the other group and didnt come bck for 5 minutes, pretty much finished our drinks by then. Absolutely ridiculous, unbelievably rude and obnoxious. 100% never return.

We had a fabulous experience at the Freemasons in Wiswell...Its a beautul pub tucked away in a gorgeous village. The pub is beautiful and tastefully presented but now for the best bit . The food was amazing, the wine choice superb and the host Andrew was just a brilliant guy so friendly and welcoming. In fact all of the staff were lovely. After other eateries where we have been so dissapointed this place was heaven and if I could give it 10 stars I would

A Sunday lunch treat for one of Burnley’s finest OAPs. The menu was different to the sample menu online which can be tricky when there are a few changes to an already quite tight menu and potentially fussy diners. Wouldn’t it be possible to publish the actual menu a few days before? For starters we ordered a combo of salmon, lamb and fish/egg dish. Tasty. Whilst we’d waited we were served amuse-bouche of bon bons, beef dripping bread, and crackers with hummus. Then it was 3 roast beef’s served very pink and very tasty. Alongside each was a whole carrot, creamed cabbage, mash, couple of roasties, a slightly dry Yorkshire pudding and a rich tasty gravy of which there was not enough and we found it embarrassing they wanted to charge for extra! That’s penny pinching. Also there was a dish of cauliflower cheese for those who like their cauliflower that way. To end we had a combo of Black Forest gateau and a couple of burnt custards (that’s a thing not a mistake). Both very good. The ladies let themselves going with a waiter-led white Rioja. Service good and friendly. Just give us more gravy on the house!

The food was extremely nice but in respect of portion size this was too small for the price. The amount of meat was insufficient, and the side dish of chips was necessary, not really a choice. I think at that price the chips should have been included within the overall cost. The total bill for 2 main course and desserts plus tip came to £140, which was grossly overpriced for the amount of food on the plates. We have enjoyed some very nice dining at several places in the Clitheroe area, all of which provided larger portions at less price. Overall, a case of style over substance.

It was some time since our last visit so we were very much looking forward to our Sunday lunch. On arrival we were seated at our table and a small taster was brought and two breads with the butter. We were very confused as we had no side plates to put the bread on. Once we had finished another waitress arrived and set all the tables in the room with side plates. Our starters were very tasty and so were the deserts but the main course of roast beef was underwhelming with two tiny pieces of beef, overshadowed by a huge pile of mash potatoes and other accompaniments on the plate. The chicken main was under seasoned. At a price point not value for money. One final point some of the waiting staff were young girls wearing very short skirts. It is not appropriate to see underwear when they bend over the table to serve?

Okay, nice place, but drinks are apparently EXTREMELY expensive. We stopped on our walk last night to have a drink sitting outside, and I paid with my phone at the bar. I was amazed later to find that the pint of Wiswell Pride and a Malibu and lemonade had cost me £15.70! Am I out of touch, or does anyone else think this is a bit much???

My wife and I ate at The Freemasons yesterday for dinner (Friday 9th August). The atmosphere, location and the pub itself was nice. The snacks and starters were great. My main of Lamb cutlets was poor. Undercooked fat on the lamb which couldn't be eaten. One cutlet was pure fat and again was inedible. My wife ordered the beef which was great. However, £50 was steep! The service was poor. The staff seemed to have little knowledge of the food. No member of staff came over to ask how the food was and the plates stayed on the table for around 25 mins after we finished. The dessert was great.

We have been twice in the last 4 weeks for Sunday Lunch, where the roast should take pride of place. Starters and desserts were ok'ish but the main was not! I had beef on the first visit which was ok, yesterday I had pork which was 2 tiny thin slices with 1cm of floppy fat, definitely NO crispy crackling: very tasteless. Then I do not understand why on both occasions there was a large dollop of red cabbage, on the plate, juice running all over the other items on the plate. It was like a school dinner from the 50's. The roast potatoes on both occasions were very leathery, pale, and had no fluffiness in the centre. No greens in sight, just a tasteless carrot. Overall very disappointing, for such an elementary plate of food.

This is the third time I have been here in a relative short time and was the first disappointing experience. First of all, we had chosen 16:30 in the afternoon to benefit from the Sunday roast set menu at 47 GBP, only to be told that it had been replaced by the 'Fathers' Day' menu at 60 GBP. There was no mention of this on the website. When we asked for some butter for the brioche, the waitress said that she would 'get us some more'. We never received any to begin with. We had to ask 4 different members of staff before we got a bottle of mineral water. Would it be too much to ask you to have one waiter/ waitress per table? The staff do their best, but it is clear there is no communication whatsoever between them. How about investing in some staff training? The 'Morecambe Bay' seafood starter was excellent and the Lancashire Beef was very good too. The sticky toffee pudding was small, dry and unimaginative. By chance ,it is the third sticky toffee I have had in 10days, and very, very poor in comparison to the others. So to sum up, overpriced food and poor service. Sorry! I think for the money spent, there are some far better options in the Ribble Valley.

Freemasons Arms has been one of our favourite places to eat for many years, and we go 2-3 times a year, sometimes staying, sometimes not, even though we live well over 200 miles away. The food has been great, wine list excellent, the atmosphere that of a lively local pub, staff always busy but interested and friendly, and value for money has been decent. Stephen has always been a visible and engaged host. Yesterday wasn’t so good on several of these fronts, and we hope it’s a one-off. Positives - the beef was excellent, as were the duck egg tart and the traditional lemon meringue dessert. Wine list remains good, including some very good reds by the glass. However, the overall experience left us much flatter than usual. Service manager was obviously very busy, so showed us to the nearby reserved table, asked if we wanted a drink, but as we wanted to look at the wine list, we couldn’t choose immediately. We didn’t take long, but he didn’t return, so we eventually asked a waitress who was clearing another table. My wife’s chair was wonky, but with no obvious person to ask, she swapped with an empty table. The menu had clearly been used quite a lot, with some food marks and creases at the edge. The choices were not that plentiful, and the prices have taken quite a step up. Absolutely accepting that costs have risen, and great quality food costs, we were still slightly surprised, as ‘occasional regulars’, that the cheapest starter was now £13.95, closer to starter prices at the nearby Michelin star, than the wonderful gastropub FMA has hitherto been. Service remained willing but patchy, usually on request, and the atmosphere flat, despite or because of a very opinionated nearby table. We didn’t see Stephen, so may not have been there, but if given a chance, would have wanted to say to him some of this, in the hope that our favourite gastropub will continue to make our journeys worthwhile.

Before our 3 course Sunday lunch, we had a drink at the bar. I started with chicken liver parfait & it was delicious. For the main event I went for the pork belly & it literally melted in my mouth. Best roasties & gravy EVER!! The stuffed Yorkshire is totally another level!! We shared a cheese board to finish which was just right to end a perfect Sunday lunch. The service was perfect too. We dined with friends we all had the beef it was a small thin piece cut in half . The vegetables were all lovely the cauliflower cheese was the hottest it was served in a separate bowl. I ended up paying for a hot chocolate that none of us had ordered. The bill for 4 with wine coffee and a tip was £400 . More than we usually pay for Sunday lunch . The service was very good and the staff were lovely.

Enjoyed the overall experience as usual though the service was not as good eg bread and canapé came together and we had to ask for glasses to be taken away. The waiting staff did everything with good grace. I think that they were under a lot of pressure. My husband and I had the bread and butter pudding but we both found it a bit heavy and dense. Everything else was of the usual high standard.

The food was good but overpriced for the quality. Service was mixed and not exceptional in anyway. A fish mains was served undercooked and cold.

Warm friendly place, so welcoming and Darren and Angie looked after us so well. The room was clean and comfortable and our dog Bow was made so welcome too. The food was top notch. We’ll be back.

If you want a doll’s house cup of coffee, then this is the place to go. Had Americano in other cafes, but never in such a small cup, very weak coffee, no crema. Wouldn’t have thought it was machine co
