Absolutely amazing food. Fish was a whale. Chips crispy and fluffy. Homemade meat n pot pie was a delight.

Great place to get some fish and chips. We sat outside. The chips were delicious. Great piece of fish. Nice vinegar. Friendly staff. Next to car park and close to harbour. Recommended if in the vicinity.

We ordered home made meat and potato pie and chips and fish and chips and 2 rolls. It was the wrong pie, said to the girl but she never offered to change it. We got back to the car the fish and chips were absolutely swimming in grease couldn't eat the batter at all only had about half a dozen chips. My partner's chips were the same the pie was cremated and rock hard, couldn't even get the fork in it hardly any filling in it and what there was was hard and tasted awful. The rolls were dry and hardly any margarine on them. Definitely not worth £20+ won't be going back.

Loved this place when it was Crosbys, then Frasers took it over the food was still really good. Came here for a takeaway whilst visiting the area and sadly disappointed with it now. The cheese rissole was like a brick and the chips so mushy you couldn't pick them up with a fork 😔. The battered sausage was lovely. On the flip side the staff are lovely.

It has become a tradition to visit Fraser's and have their Seafood Platter for two! Delicious and it never fails to disappoint...❤️

The finest chip shop in the whole of Cumbria, what you get is value for your money as the prices are reasonable and the portion size is emmence.

Eight of us had tea here. The service was friendly and quick, and everyone really enjoyed the food. I especially liked the curry sauce, it was perfect chip shop sauce.

Nice small fish and chip restaurant and takeaway, tucked away on road running behind the promenade around the harbours in Whitehaven. Food was nice...I had scampi chips and mushy peas, partner had chicken nuggets chips and curry sauce. Friendly service, small but pleasant seating area.

Worst fish&chips, fish tasted uncooked cold in middle, chips uncooked soggy. Pie microwaved seemed stale £3 for small portion chips ( starved) staff member rude. Glad we don't live there, we are on holiday

A trip here on our 10th wedding anniversary while staying in cockermouth. This chip shop is amazing value and the service is excellent.

Both girls had false nails on who served the food with varnish it put me off going back even tho the food was nice

We had 2 x battered haddock and chips and a gluten free battered cod to takeaway. All three of us enjoyed them. My haddock was a good sized portion, perfectly cooked, tasty and seemed very fresh. Chips OK but I only ate about half a dozen of them as the haddock filled me up. Price was reasonable, so was the time to be served. Premises seemed clean and tidy, so did the 'restaurant' which is a basic seating area.

I was staying in Whitehaven with a group of friends for the weekend and we all decided to have fish and chips. One of the party was gluten free and after searching on Google maps, Fraser's came up as they did gluten free. Pre ordered the meal on the telephone and picked up later in the day just before closing. The portion sizes were very good. Most of the order was for fish and chips, but I ordered the home made meat and potato pie, chips, peas and gravy. Mmm everyone really enjoyed their meals including me. The shop is situated close to the harbour, well worth the money! If I'm in Whitehaven again I'll definitely be going back to Fraser's ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Gone downhill, ‘waitress’ only had two tables to cover and completely forgot one tables order! Then got the order wrong. Chips were cold. Poor lunch won’t be back

Chips ok, just a bit dry. Portion size far too small for the price. Squashing a pie on top of the chips is a no no especially when it's only a small tray. It's up to the server to remember where they've put food, ie; curry sauce and to remember to give it to the customer before they leave the shop 🙄. Customer service 0/10

Went here yesterday soggy chips very small portions. Also expensive not value for money compared to other local fish and chip shops will not be going back there.if there was the option to give no stars then that’s what it would give.

Not my favourite chippy. Batter on the fish is too thick and doughy. Greasy chips. Very over priced.

Just Gonna get out there and say They Have Really nice chips but not being funny I rate a 2 star due to staff not getting your orders done and forgetting things and not having bigger trays and just squeezing a pie in a small tray with chips and mashed with gravy on top is abit of a disappointment and waiting so long for a mess of food I wouldn’t recommend getting pie and chips unless it’s a single pie only and just a small chips on there own part from that nice place

I used to come here in the eighties with my mum, we obviously hadn't been in close to 35 years, wish we hadn't, hard scrappy chips, inch thick greasy batter covering bland grey looking fish

Unfortunately, there are no "views" from this local chippy. The fish is great and large portion is a beast! They also do nuggets, sausages and other "bits" (like sweet potato fries). I felt the place was dear but the chips and fish tasted great. Best if you take it away and sit either at the harbour or by the local church and enjoy the views and take in the town. You'll love it!

Had to knock at least one star off for atmosphere as one the regulars was rudely staring at me and then a woman came and sat down and started coughing .. so I decided to take the food out rather than suffer anymore . The food was great.. but £9.80 for fish chips and peas to take away wouldn't get me going back for more ...

Ask for lightly battered, it was not and over cooked, fish was grey. Time to find another fish shop. No fish patties left, it was only 4.45

The fish was delicious from here and cooked perfectly. You’ll have to wait as each fish is cooked to order but it is worth it. The batter was light and crispy and the cod was succulent. The only criticism I have is the peas were a little bland but what they lacked in flavour was made up by the rest. Great curry sauce though, and the chips tasted great.

Was staying overnight in Whitehaven on business, as most of the restaurants seem to be closed on aTuesday night I opted for traditional fish and chips. It was quite busy when I arrived but ordered my haddock and only had to wait a short time for it to be cooked. I had to have a short drive to find somewhere I could park up to eat them. The chips were OK but the fish wasn't as nice. The batter wasn't crispy at all, infact it was like rubber. Such a shame as I was really looking forward to my traditional fish and chips by the sea side.

Top notch food & service, however I think the girl behind the counter had trouble understanding my gruff Rotherham accent!

A decent fish and chip shop. The fish was delicious and the batter was perfectly light and crispy. IMO the chips and mushy peas were bland. I would've liked more salt and vinegar too but they were wrapped before I was given the option... Since when do fish & chip shops not ask/allow you to put on some salt and vinegar!! My main issue was the price. Far too expensive! £23 for 2x fish & chips and 2x mushy peas!! I wouldn't mind as much if the portion was huge, but it was an average sized portion. Maybe they inflated the prices for the Jubilee Bank Holiday; regardless, £11.50 for fish & chips with mushy peas is extortionate!

I will rate this place 4 stars as is very friendly staff place looks very tidy and clean and very good price the fish and chips great taste and wonderful golden fry colour I wish I can go again but looks like a near future Down side well I record the facility as the whole place is done but the toilets are very small and out of date. And the tables out side I think it need more space as easy can get overwhelming by people doing the queue to get in other ways will be a perfect place. Do I recommend well no to the locals as they already know is a good place to dine in but if you are visiting well do check out you will be no disappointed but check the opening hours ..

Extremely friendly service. Massive pieces of brilliantly cooked fish, crispy batter, soft succulent fish. Chicken nuggets are made of proper pieces of chicken, not processed. Reasonably priced and really tasty Definitely recommended and within walking distance of the marina and beach if you want to go full experience and eat them on the seafront.

Went to get some food as there was take-away and eat-in. Arrived before 7pm to be told that as they were closing at 8pm, the restaurant was closed! We had to walk back to the car and drive back to our apartment. Very disappointing. Fish and Chips were OK, won't go back to eat-in. Think we might try somewhere else, next time.

Recommended this by a family member who said it was the best fish and chips he'd had in years. I had haddock and chips and I agree. Batter was very crisp not soggy. The squid was very tasty too. Couple of items originally forgotten on what was a fairly substantial order but corrected with no problems when I went back in. Highly recommended. Closed on Sundays though.

Oh lordy... we were recommended by the guest house we were staying in as the place to come for fish and chips. Everyone else in the queue obviously had the same idea. We had to wait for about 15 mins, but you know what they say. Good things come to those who wait. Great food, would recommend also to other people. Think we'll have to come back!!! Nice chips, but Service not great, young lady was too busy talking with other girl so was waiting some time to be served, she then proceeded to get my order wrong and then tried to charge me twice...they need course in customer service..

Very good food but terrible service

Ended up here by sheer luck and so pleased we did, we were holidaying in Ravenglass and decided to visit Whitehaven for a chippy tea. Our daughter googled chippy's near us and came up with Fraser's. Beautifully cooked haddock and chips and the size of the portion was very generous.

Always busy which you would think must be good but sadly only 3stars as I have found a better chippy that doesn't have a lot of small hard chips in and is slightly cheaper. Sorry guys but I'm not a huge fan.
