Frank’s Pizza & Subs in Glasgow City

Ordered food for collection and they're very up front with collection times, which is great. The food is worth the wait. As it's a small unit, you're best to book for a table if you wish to sit in. There are no words to express how good the pizzas, chicken tenders, huge mozzarella sticks and franks fries are!

Was super excited to visit after seeing all of the tik toks. Decided to visit the restaurant in battlefield and can say that I am utterly disappointed The restaurant was freezing for a start so you will have to wear your jacket. Nobody came to take our order so awkwardly had to ask. We ordered a pizza with extra toppings, mozzarella sticks and the tenders. Everything came out at separate times and was stone cold. The mozzarella sticks had no cheese pull and were hard. The pizza arrived without the topping and when we told the server what was missing they simply said the chef had forgot, which is fair enough however nothing done to rectify it plus it is so thin that it doesn’t hold a heat for more than a few minutes. I wish we were offered or told that our sauce for the tenders could come on the side as personally we didn’t like the sauce and ruined them for us so we didn’t eat them. We were then charged full price for cold food, missing items and something we didn’t like. Sometimes the hype isn’t all it’s cracked up to be

Average at best! After hearing about the amazing hype of this place, me and my partner finally got round to giving it at a try. The restaurant is quite a small eating area and in my opinion crammed with tables. The tables are way to close to enjoy any sort of conversation, it made for a really awkward environment between all tables. The restaurant is also extremely cold, I was freezing, my partner was freezing and I heard other people commenting on how cold the place was. The food was fairly average, pizza felt a bit crunchy in certain areas and then hollow and falling apart in others, the fries tasted extremely salty and the tenders were a bit tough. (Couldn't have been all bad right enough as I did scran the lot) The guy that served us was nice enough. However after finishing our meal it took a bit of time for our table to cleared and also a bit of time waiting for the bill. It was getting busy with takeaway/collection orders and they got the priority over us waiting. When we first arrived as well I felt as if it took a minute for us to be acknowledged. It was very clear we were standing waiting, but the conversation between the staff was more important.

Really disappointing. Pizza was rotten. Took 50mins to come out and was well burnt. Stingy with toppings - cheap tiny pepperoni and varely any cheese. Base ok but crust solid. mozzarella sticks were good as were fries. Garlic mayo was immense but shouldn't really be the big highlight. Nothing like NY Pizza at all. Place is freezing, heaters dotted around the place but not plugged in. Service decent but wait time not ok. Priority given to takeaway and given place has no toilets just be a takeaway. Don't get the hype. Saving grace it's a cheap place so not too expensive a mistake.

Total shambles of a set up order online was going to be nearly 2 and a half hours for delivery went on to cancel said I couldn’t as food was being prepared tried to call the shop no number, contact through WhatsApp to be told my order wasn’t coming from their store so nothing they could do finally get it cancelled to be told I will need to wait 3 days for a refund

Came to the store is dennistoun and although was super busy were super apologetic and given a free drink for the wait. Amid the business my order was mixed up and once contacted they travelled directly to my address to deliver the correct items. The best vibes food and service

Ordered for the first time tonight and got called to say no mozzarella sticks which was disappointing but fair enough, food arrived and it was freezing cold, chicken tenders were bone dry burnt and cold, chewing for days with it, chips, cold and stale. Now got the effort of trying to get a refund from deliveroo which will be a nightmare so nice one cheers guys 👍🏻 no number to call to complain either

Went to go order a pizza but before I even got inside I saw what I assume to be the owner being rude to one of his employees. Worked in places where staff are put under unnecessary pressure and wont be supporting somewhere like that. Totally put me off before I even got inside.

First time visiting the restaurant (as opposed to ordering online) - great experience. Food was fab and service was excellent, super friendly and accommodating (including of our cheeky one year old). We’re very lucky to have places like this on our doorstep.

Pizza was just okay… overcooked and base was burnt however the pizza sauce was lovely. However the mozzarella sticks and chicken tenders were AMAZING!!! Best I’ve ever had. Would return for the sides alone but not the pizza unfortunately

I’d heard a lot of buzz about Frank’s, so I decided to check it out and see what all the hype was about. Known for its New York bar-style pizzas, I went in with high hopes. The sauce was simple but tasty, and the cheese was toasted nicely on top, giving a promising start. Unfortunately, the base and crust didn’t quite deliver. The base was overdone and rigid, which made folding the slices impossible—a key feature of authentic New York-style pizza. The crust was dry and hollow in places, breaking apart too easily and lacking the satisfying substance of a crust worth eating. A proper bar-style pizza should have a thin, crisp base with some chew and a crust that adds to the enjoyment, but this one fell short. On a more positive note, the chicken tenders were fantastic. They were juicy, packed with flavour, and served in a huge portion. At just £6, they were an absolute steal and the clear highlight of the meal. The pizza, priced at £12, offered decent value despite its issues. The space is small, with seating right by the door, which is constantly opening, so you’ll want to bring a jacket if you’re eating in. That said, the staff were lovely—friendly and welcoming, which added a lot to the overall experience.

Been a long bloody week, I'm not one for paying for takeaways but it was 5pm on a Friday and I was already in bed. The pizza was personally everything I look for in a pizza, thin, crispy, well fired, not too much cheese and not over priced. It was stunning, by far the best pizza I've had for as far as I can remember. Was at my door within 28 minutes at 5pm on a Friday, which is quite astonishing as it came from finnieston and I live in East Tradeston. Stunning experience, thank you.

Went tonight after hearing good things the last few months. Totally underwhelming, the girl serving couldn't be less interested if she tried. The pizzas were burnt, simple as that really, if they had been taken out the oven a few minutes earlier, then they would have been so much better. Average at best. 2.5/5 I won't bother returning as there are plenty of other venues more worthy of my cash.

Nice service but poor pizza - so little cheese mainly tomato sauce

Ordered a take away for 6pm via WhatsApp and got a message saying that they were busy could I collect at 7pm. Not ideal when ordering for my kids but I agreed and was told theynwould vall me when it was ready. Arrived at 7.10pm after no call came to find that my order hadn't even been sent to the kitchen yet. Last time we ordered I knew it got busy so sent my order at 3pm. I was told that they could send it to the kitchen now, but with 3 kids waiting for dinner I told them to cancel. Really disappointed, the kids really enjoyed the food from here but I will be spending my money elsewhere from now on!

Disappointed but not surprised. We waited 2 hours for our order. By around the 1 hour 30 minute mark spent waiting in the car, we went into the premises to ask how much long we would be waiting to then be told that kitchen have not started our order. For a 2 hour wait, the quality of food was not up to par.

50 mins wait for pizza in cold settings with a French Bulldog as their logo didn’t bode well and unfortunately set the tone. Tasteless, overdone pizza with minimal cheese and toppings. Chicken tenders were tough as old boots and ‘Franks’ fries’ were forgettable. Limoncello Spritz pish. Baffled about the hype as really busy with tons of deliveries going out. Caio

ordered yesterday and the pizza was literally undercooked and cold. It was so soggy, and i always get franks its so crispy and flavourful but yesterdays pizza was literally a wet soggy mess, and i had to drive all way into glasgow so deliveroo could deliver to me. So disappointed

Went to the southside shop, never before have I experienced a place such as this. Server was absolutely wrecked, grabbing your pints off the bar, a good pie. And of course, an insanely long waiting time, Franks is a very odd place. But if you want a laugh, give it a bash.

I’m a fan of Franks and have been a repeat customer for quite a long time now. However, recently the length of time for waits has become ridiculous. Last week on a Sunday evening around 8pm we were told our wait would be 40 minutes which was fine with us. When we went to pick up our order we were made to wait an additional 40 minutes outside the shop. There were no customers eating inside at this point since it was late in the day and there were kitchen staff sat outside smoking cigarettes. We felt pretty mugged off by this. We were given an extra side for our troubles but we were very disappointed by the whole wait considering it was very quiet and staff were taking breaks as we stood out front waiting for 40 minutes (in addition to the 40 minute wait we were given) on a pizza. Franks never used to be like this and was always reasonable for wait times and time estimates given to customers. It appears this isn’t an isolated incident either judging by the recent reviews here. Sadly, I’d be hesitant to return unless waiting times get addressed.

I've heard lots of great things about this place but the service before I've even got a table is apauling! -You can't phone ahead as there is no phone number listed. -Due to the incredibly small size of the front of house, the chances of getting a table on arrival is 1% if that! -We were told that we could go on a waiting list that would take up to 1.5hrs because of booking, despite not being able to book online or over the phone! -No WCs available. -Also, most of the people sitting in the restaurant (if you can call it that) didn't have any food Infront of them, and the staff were having a nice chat on the phone (who are they talking to if there is no phone number available anywhere?). In total I'm disappointed I spent my time driving to this restaurant. I should have just gone to Paesano Pizza, where by they way, we got a table in 5mins and got the pizza 10mins after that!

Despite not delivering or having a phone number to call in an order in advance, I decided to order from Franks. The other reviews and the look of their pizza checked alot of boxes for this Chicagoan who takes his pizza seriously. They didn't disappoint. Despite complaints of burnt pizza, I say, that's authentic, don't lose that. Great sauce and sausage too. Garlic knots were awesome too!

We went to Frank's on a Friday night. They didn't initially have a table so we put our name on a list and went away and came back. We were seated and quickly the staff took our order. All good up until we had to wait for almost an hour. There was little to no communication as to what was happening with the delay, all the while loads of takeaways were served whilst the diners in the restaurant were going hungry. We did have our drinks taken off the bill which was appreciated, however I think for the price of the food overall and actual quality of the pizza it was still quite expensive.

Good pizza. Not overly generous with the toppings... In fact, not generous at all. Base is great though, as is the sauce. Next time, I'll ask for double whatever toppings and happily pay the extra couple of pounds. Garlic mayo is GARLIC mayo. 10/10.

Total random find during a southside stoat. Pizza was huge and quick to serve The chicken tenders tasted like heaven and the pizza rallied me for a night of dancing. Highly recommend

My son and his friends where there tonight ,wait 1 hour to get there food .They then said have this half pizza to share while your waiting ???? Then charged them for it . The boys told the waitress this was terrible the wait ,to which they said Deliveroo went down ,what’s that to do with sit in folk ??? My son also said the pizza was big standard ,to which they said no one has ever said that before ,don’t think so !!!!Thw other waitress obviously took offence as she walked away and NO . The boys go to a different restaurant every week and this has not been the best . I think the public have to know this was how they treat 3 young men tonight ,not good ,poor service and tasteless food .such a shame as the reviews they read was why they went ……

Food was really good, but the service was abysmal, no please or thank yous, was told we would have to wait 20 minutes and we waited more than an hour, almost made us late for a concert. If you’re prepared to wait and get spoken to rudely, the food is good. Also, no toilets in the place which I thought was odd for a place where you can sit down and eat.

Had saw great things about Franks on socials so decided to treat myself and my Husband to a Franks takeaway through Deliveroo. Order placed at 20:03 and got to mines at 22:00. The pepperoni pizza was freezing, burnt, salty and really thin. The Franks Fries were cold and soggy but the seasoning was good. The garlic dip was about the highlight of this order. I really wanted to love this but tbh after reading other reviews about long wait times I feel like it'd be the same situation if we ended up going into the restaurant to eat instead. I feel like if you're going to use Deliveroo or do any takeaway orders you need to be able to fulfil these orders in a timely manner. Especially when the app stated my order would be ready by 20:50-21:15. It is a joke when you've paid money to be waiting 2 hours for food. Don't waste your money.

So many moaners in these reviews - Franks is hands down THE #1 undisputed pizza in Glasgow. Perfect base, 0 flop, cheese to sauce ratio is perfect... awa and get yer dominos if you prefer a gross sugary undercooked cow pat.

Avoid the new Southside establishment….knew I’d prob wait a while for a pizza as it’s just opened. Was told an hour which I expected….2 hours later still no pizza. Asked for my money back which didn’t go down well but 2 hours for a pizza is quite frankly ridiculous.

Ordered a margarita and a pepperoni,.was told it would be 30mins ..went back after 30 mins, told it would be another 15 minutes....after an hour we got two burnt pizzas. Sullen staff in need of customer service training.

Tiny and so authentic. A lovely atmosphere, great music and lovely server. Food was amazing too! Ordered way too much but glad as it was so delicious.

showed up and was told a 20 minute wait and were told to go for a walk and they would phone. we were waiting 35 minutes before heading back without a phone call and got seated straight away? ( they didn’t phone to say it would be a longer wait or any update) ordered our food and waited 50 minutes for it to come out. ate our pizza in 15 minutes and by the time our last side dish came out we were given the bill 5 minutes later. the ginger girl was very rude when we asked for salt and simply said “we don’t have salt” in a very annoyed rude tone( obviously if she didn’t use this tone it wouldn’t have been a problem having no salt). everytime you spoke to either one of the servers( ginger women or black haired women) it was like they didn’t want to hear from you and had an uninterested look on their face. as we were given our bill the ginger girl just tossed the card machine down and continued her conversation with a male colleague. i have never felt so unwelcome in an environment before in my life it’s a shame the food was actually decent. also no bathrooms??? and door was hanging off entrance to kitchen which was very odd too? place just seemed unclean.

Unfortunately the wait for a pizza took longer than 40 minutes inside. Priority was given to deliveries, a full restaurant and no one was eating, just boxes going for takeaway. Had to get up and leave, won’t be back, chef was half bothered. No communication at all

By far the best take away pizza and sides I’ve had in the U.K. Dude in the hat, you are my ‘hot honey hero’, added the Sausage and peppers pie it was devine. I don’t know how you get your Mozzarella sticks to be that good, please folks just order them by the bucket load

I’m maybe just too old now to value the hype enough. The wait time is outrageous with no ability to preorder. After three failed attempts we finally got a pizza (30 min wait). It was good, but when is pizza not good? It wasn’t mind blowing. We got takeaway but I wouldn’t be rushing to sit in. So many people waiting for orders that they’re hovering around the 4/5 tables inside. Can’t have been conducive for a nice chat over your meal.

We’ve been getting pizza from here fairly regularly for the last year or so and we’ve noticed a massive decline in the quality and service over the last few months. The estimated waiting times are always off by over 20 minutes - so we’re left waiting for long periods of time (sometimes 90 mins +). Additionally, the quality of the pizzas are really hit or miss - they’re often burnt. We used to be big fans but wouldn’t bother returning after the last few visits :(

Went for the first time lastnight, we were hangry and the place was busy but the tunes kept us moving. Had to wait a while - no issues with that but fxck me they delivered!! We weren’t disappointed. Pizza was decadent and crispy as ordered. Tenders were fat & juicy. We’ll be back. No toilets can be problematic but also gives it a little edge if you ask me, can’t have it all can ya. I’d maybe just mention it to people on entry to prevent any disappointments. Very NYC 🗽

I really wanted to like this place, but as per it was too good to be true. No customer toilets, which surely has to be some kind of HSE violation. The tenders did not look like their normal tenders. The exterior was more akin to chip shop batter and smooth. The sauce is nothing more than vinegar. Why are people praising the sauce? I was so disappointed. Tenders 2/10 Mozzarella sticks 2/10 Pepperoni pizza 4/10 Something that says a lot about an establishment is when they prioritise delivery orders despite being first served. Oh well.

Our go to pizza place, definitely my favorite in Glasgow. Eat in if you can, they never failed me when we dined in. Small wee restaurant but really cozy and cute if u manage to get a seat! When we get get it to go sometimes the curst and bottom can get a little too burnt for our liking.

Very bland pizza sauce and too much of it. Not enough cheese. The dough was decent and cooked well with a crisp underside but did not redeem it. Also would not recommended trying to sit inside as its extremely cramped and has no customer toilets. Not even in the conversation for best pizza in Glasgow

We ordered 3 pizzas to takeaway and were advised this would take 25 mins. No problem, the server took out mobile and said they’d contact us when the pizzas were ready. 50mins later after no contact I popped back in to the shop to be told the pizzas would be 20 mins and I’d get text when ready. No explanation or apologies for the delay. I cancelled the order and we went to Paesano and got 3 perfect pizzas (also cheaper) within 10’mins of stepping in to the place.

We got a takeaway of 2x Margheritas & Pepperoni pizza along with chips & mozzarella sticks. The Margheritas were burnt and the pepperoni was so salty it was inedible. Pretty disappointed as there was good hype over this place. Also not cheap at £54 so would have expected better.

16 stone, pizza mad guy here. Had many a pizza and this place by far is the best. 1 hour journey and a 50min wait for takeaway and I will do it again. Pizza, buffalo chicken and mozzarella sticks were all absolutely next level goodness, that pizza sauce is crazy good. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

If judging a pizza on looks, then it’s 9/10. But there’s more to pizza than how it looks. Unfortunately, the taste just isn’t there for me, bordering on a not very nice taste. I’ve tried Franks 3 or 4 times now, and I always want to like it because it looks so good, but every time I try it, I think the same, it just isn’t very tasty and I don’t like the taste I’m getting, so I’m not going back. But eventually after about 6 months I’ll think, it can’t be as bad as I remember, so I give it another try, and I think the same again, tasteless and bordering on not tasting nice. I like to compare things, to see how I rank them and M&S go a 7 or 8 inch pizza, it’s £3.50, and it blows Franks away on taste. Unfortunately, Glasgow isn’t blessed with good pizza places, so the search for a decent pizza in Glasgow continues. The best place I’ve found is The Westside Tavern in Patrick, but even it doesn’t compare to M&S’s £3.50 pizza. So that’s me done with Franks. The Mozzarella sticks are very good though.

Went over today for opening and was superb, not waiting to long for your food to come out. Well fired pizza and mozzarella sticks were amazing. A little to much sauce on the chicken for me but everyone is different. I will be back.

Hands down the best pizza I’ve had in years! The mozzarella sticks are more like massive, its brilliant value for money and i have been back since and will continue to!

Got recommended by a friend and stopped by to try their chicken tenders and they are top class. Perfectly cooked and smothered in hot buffalo sauce. Stuff of dreams - I'll come back here just for this over and over 10/10 👌

Pizza was amazing, garlic knots great and the buffalo tenders were excellent. Didn't like the sound of the lemon mayo dip for the tenders and thought it'd be much better with a blue cheese dip but I might be converted! Best pizza I've had in Glasgow by a distance.

Amazing pizza and very friendly staff.

What a great find was struggling to get in anywhere and found Frank's. The pizza was delicious and the parmesan chips 🍟 were lovely. It is understated but the prices reflect that and will certainly be back.

I’ve been getting Franks a couple of times a month since it opened and it’s tremendous. Best NY style pizza I’ve had outside New York. Class soft drink selection and even better it’s BYOB so it can still be a big one without paying £8 craft lager nonsense. Don’t miss the sides either - chicken tenders are unreal n the mozzarella sticks are like logs for the fire. 12/10, thoroughly recommend.

Pizza is good and the tenders are class but the service was comically bad.

This was one of our favourite places but seems to have gone downhill. We waited an hour for a pizza and two sides. Staff didn’t seem to care or even apologise for the wait. The mozzarella sticks were good but the pizza was burnt and very very salty! The chicken tenders were cold, soggy and again very salty! Overall, it was just really disappointing and not worth the wait.

Extremely disappointed - pizza was burnt all under the base and around the edges, extremely greasy cheese and no tomato base, and pepperoni was rubbery. Chicken tender sauce was not what expected, very sour. Have seen quite a few photos of the pizza turning out this way.

I'm from New Jersey and have been looking for a good slice since I left the US 7 years ago. Franks easily has the best New York style pizza I've tried in Europe. Please don't confuse this with the neopolitan pizza you find everywhere. This is not that.
