Frankies Fish & Chips, Pizzeria in Dundee City

Frankness is my go to chippy. A car ride away but is worth it. The fritters are always crisp and golden. A munch box for two more than enough. Not disappointed once. Give it a try.

£11.50 for a really poor fish supper. Fish fell apart when picked up. Soggy batter. Chips tasteless. Handed to me a minute after ordering - never a good sign. You can get a bigger and much better fish supper in Anstruther for less than this one in Lochee.

Fish was not fresh the smell was awful, white pudding tasteless & dry mock chop rubbish

Arrived 15 mins before closing, to a busy waiting area but staff were polite, helpfull and quick to take our order. Food was cooked to order so waited about 15mins but that meant it was fresh and hot. Large portions, so good value for money. Pizza was amazing with fresh ingredients, chips were perfect for us, oh and there tomato ketchup is better than heinz! Sat in their own private car park outside to eat before driving home. Will defo be back to try the fish next time.

Definitely will be back for more. We just had chicken calzone and mixed calzone, chicken meat absolutely delicious, lots of cheese inside, lovely dough, massive portions. Worth every penny. Best pizzeria in Dundee.

Food was terrible, batter was non existent on my battered sausage, chips were hard. Pizza crunch was bland,greasy and inedible. Nearly £30, for tasteless grease Never again

Fish really nice but chips under cooked in my opinion

Food arrived 45 mins late , the batter on the fish of which there was little was hard and shriveled, I was going to have a chip buttie with it but found it hard to find any chips with potato in them, it was like yesterday's supper that had been left and reheated .

Highly recommended. The food is excellent and a great offer on Monday and Tuesday with a free pizza. Best chip shop in Dundee and friendly staff. Yummy 😀

Proper nice chippy had small cod supper good price fish was fresh and tasty chips were nice. All cooked to order and super busy so had to wait but worth it.

Worse fish ever not properly fried could taste rawness of fish the batter was the worst ever seen. Fish should be crispy and you should be able to hold in your hand without it falling apart, my wife threw hers in bin been buying fish suppers since late 50s won't be back here

Food is consistently good here, getting a bit expensive but still generally worth it.

could of went down the tay and caught of fish and battered it myself by the time it got delivered and when it decided to arrive it was stone cold steve austin never bit into a fish and felt like i was biting into a ice cube will never be ordering from here again! SHOCKING

Absolutely bogging fish supper. Batter very soggy, chips not much better and tasted horrible. Delivery time very good but food really poor. Money wasted.

Me and my son were staying at the Travelodge up the road and this was the nearest chippy. So glad because it's a good un some of the best I've had. We shared one of their munch boxes (a mix of pizza, chicken, sausage, chips and a curry sauce) and everything was delicious. The staff were friendly and very patient of my son's incurable indecisiveness!

Food cooked to order. Polite staff even when it's busy and hectic.

Love the banter with the staff, they go the extra mile. Always tasty, but the chips are easily the best around!

Its the best take away food that I have ever eaten. Although the food is fried it is not swimming in oil and the chips are crisp and fluffy , no oil on the packaging.

What can I say? It's a chippy. But it's a good one. I've always liked this place ever since the refurbishment. It's clean and the staff are professional. The food is really nice, although the deep fried pizza is definitely an acquired taste and not for me!

Overpriced. Tasteless food. Soggy chips . No warm welcome when you enter staff just too busy chatting to each other . Won't be back for sure. Very very disappointing.

My mum mrs mac got a chipper tonight everything was cold and the woman she spoke to on the phone was very abrupt with my mum & dad who are in their 70s …. For sure they won’t be back for cold food

Wow love the changes to the whole shop. New menu boards as well as new pizza menu. As always great service and lovely staff. Had a pizza tonight and it was excellent.

Brilliant shop great choice of goodies fish and chips to die for crispy batter fluff chips everything you could want including pizza ice creams etc so wide a choice you would be hard pushed not to find something to your taste good value for money clean store friendly staff and owners go today you won't regret it

Asked for large portion of chips and it didnt fill the box..they were also not very hot.

I'm sorry it was to greasy for me and the chips didn't have texture i like but the staff are brilliant shop is clean and has waiting seats 💺 it's very busy and we can't all like the same they also offer foods I've no seen in other chip shops I might try something else they do pizza's aswell

Excellent food delicious kebabs and pizzas we chose a 16 “ pizza with double pepperoni double cheese great pizza better than luigis also staff are very friendly make you feel welcome which is always a plus when youve got cash to spend ,overall experience was very good definitely be back . Ordered a small fish and large fish. The server wrote on the bag which was small and large as she stated there was no observable difference but the large was thicker so gave the benefit of the doubt. On getting home the large fish was the same as the small and was not thicker. I have been sold a small fish being charged for a large. With the price of fish this is disgraceful. I won't be back to Frankies again.

To ensure a good service you need to find good staff. A fish supper is a good source of nourishment but it is very expensive. Waiting for my order. Absolutely freezing inside the chipper. They need to put some heating on inside the shop while the customers are waiting for their food order.

Food is always great when ordering from frankies. One of the best chippies I have been to. The app they have aswell makes things much easier to order from when you are at home or when out and about and order it on the way back up the road.

Food was great, fish was cooked fresh.

Everyone had fish and chips and they all really enjoyed them. I had macaroni and cheese wow.

Have to admit normally food is decent but i decided to try fish and chips...fish was tasteless and more than acceptable amount of bones were in it also. Always find the chips are great but when you are paying that price for fish then I would like to finish it and enjoy it. Hopefully just a blip

Horrible, chips were hard and overcooked. Very greasy as well. They seem to have went down hill. I prefer to wait on my order. They have it all cooked and ready. So you dont know how long the food has been sitting. We will stick to the victor on the blackie.

Ordered fish and chips, wich was fresh and delicious, good portion size too. Fritter roll, wich was fresh and good in size. Smoked sausage, wich was also delicious. I did a walk in and was the 1st time eatting from here. 10/10. Ill be back. Price was not to bad ethier. I DO recommend. I enjoyed.

Used to be good, don’t know what’s happened but this order was abysmal for the price. Portion size has shrunk dramatically. Large portion of chips smaller than regular from elsewhere, pizza has also shrunk and very little topping, pathetic amount of chips with fish supper. Please don’t sacrifice my tea for your new extension. Won’t be back

I'm a regular and honestly they have the best chips in Dundee. Iv tried plenty and even tho the shop is far away food is always hot and freshly cooked, No re-heated chips in sight.

Very nice indeed! I’m from north Wales working up in Dundee and it’s probably the best chippy I’ve been to in my 39 years! So nice in fact I’ve been 3 nights in a row! The chips are cooked to perfection & the fish is cooked beautiful…. The peas are a bit hard? Not mushy type so I opted for the curry sauce & that was very nice!

And the chip shop tour of Scotland continues!!! First time coming here with the boyf and we were not disappointed!!! I decided to go for a breaded single fish. They boyf got a single steak pie along with 6 x fritters, tub of peas and a roll. Came to about 15bucks in total. WTAF?! The breaded fish was amazing. Its nice to see breaded fish on a menu. Reminds me of the fish my gran used to cook. The breadcrumbs were lovely and crisp. And the fish underneath just fell apart. Probably one of the best single fish I've had in a while. The boyfs steak pie was cooked to perfection. Nice and moist...wasn't too much gravy in the pie. The boyf says it's the best steak pie he has had in ages!!! The fritters were lovely and crispy too, but the peas were a bit watery. More watery than mushy, but hey ho...they tasted amazing. All in all its gotta be 10s all round for this meal. Will definately be coming to Frankies again
