There hasn't been anywhere to have a tea or coffee in Loxton for some years, possibly due to the fact that it's off the beaten track and now we have a gem of a cafe! The building is a converted agricultural building and has many photos of Frankie Howerd in his prime. There's seating inside and when the weather is nice, you can sit outside, look at Crookes Peak and listen to the birdsong. Traffic on the adjoining road is minimal. I've only been there for coffee and cake and really nice the cake was too - a light and fluffy Victoria Sponge. The service is good and the staff are friendly; the menu has a good range of cooked and cold foods on offer. There is a small car park just up the road. The premises is being extended at the present so when finished, it should be much bigger.

This is a very very special place. A great community hub, with its unique heritage and brilliant honest cafe food, I'd recommend it in a shot

For fans of the great Frankie Howerd (or even if you can't remember him too well), this cafe/hub is a pure delight! It must be in an old barn judging by the thickness of the whitewashed walls and window nooks. Run by Keiran, the cafe is into its third year. The atmosphere is wonderful, the walls enriched with photographs of Frankie with some of his co-stars, back in the day! There is also a huge portrait of him (a copy of the original, as we were advised). The cafe offers a range of food, including lunch menus, cakes galore, and coffee/tea. There is an outside toilet and outside seating for warmer days plus plenty of seating inside. You must go there - highly recommended.

We use this very friendly café/hub for coffee, which is very good. Visited for lunch and had the Chicken Tikka from the chef's Specials. Really good, with plenty of tender sliced chicken, not the usual cubes. The Tikka sauce was delicious with a gentle heat from the spices, served with fluffy rice. Will be lunching here again and trying other items from the menu. The Thai Chilli Mussels in a lime, coconut, and chilli sauce sounded good. PS also serves breakfasts.

I was out on my bike and was in need of some refreshment and this appeared at just the right moment. Clearly popular with walkers and a few cyclists too, so I stopped and was glad I did. Tables outside as well as inside, the cakes looked nice but thick cut bacon sarnie was just too tempting. It lived up to it's billing, it was the nicest bacon I can remember eating in many a year. Coffee even came with a mint! They were also happy to fill up my water bottle which is always welcome. If you're passing it's well worth a visit.

Me and my partner stumbled across this cafe on the way home to w-s-m today! What a fabulous find and we will definitely be returning again. The staff were very welcoming and the food was outstanding, at a very reasonable cost :) thank you for a lovely visit ☺️

When I arrived there was a group of women chatting and smiling around the doorway. I thought to myself, this looks like a friendly place. Then I was served by the chairman and found my assumption was totally correct. I tire of places that are full of single people with headphones in drinking coffee and tapping away on computers. This place was a return to the cafes of the early 2000's - back when people talked to each other. It might be a one off, but you get a sense of the vibe of place and I liked this one.

Loooking for somewhere for lunch on the way home from WSM we decided to try the Frankie Howard Hub as we’d heard good things about it. In a quirky barn like setting we ordered two breakfasts and two coffees . The food was very tasty and one of the best breakfasts we’d tasted. The service was good from the chef and he couldn’t have been more helpful. It will be definitely on the list of breakfasts to try again.

We have been meaning to visit this lovely cafe for a while and we are so glad we finally made it. From a wide range of food and drinks, we chose the smaller of the breakfast options which was still plentiful and well cooked, including everything you would expect from a full English. Bacon, sausage, egg, beans, hash brown and toast. All for less than £8.00. The atmosphere is really nice. We got to chat to some of the locals and we were really made to feel welcome. Plenty of car parking just a few metres up the road and oh yes, they are dog friendly which matters a lot to us. Our first visit will most undoubtedly not be our last. Thank you all. We loved it.

Lovely spot for coffee/tea and cake or light lunch - breakfast looks good too! Super little venue run with it's local, rural community at heart. Well worth a stop when enjoying walking in the lovely surrounding countryside or like us, a couple of friends making a special trip to enjoy morning 'goodies'

The Frankie Howerd Hub and Cafe is a little gem tucked under the Mendip hills. There is a free car park adjacent to it or it would be a great stop on a cycle ride. It is easy to find from the A38 or A370 (or the quiet back roads from Banwell particularly if you are on your bike). The cafe is really quaint and situated in a beautiful old building which has been tastfully restored. The staff are really friendly (as were the locals we met) and we really enjoyed our lunch which was tasty and well presented. The chocolate brownie was fantastic.

Been here twice, friendly service, food is great! Cooking time isn't too long, great place to stop by for a snacky lunch. First time here I bought a chip butty and the server did not skimp out on the chips! Today I opted for a bacon and egg roll, fairly priced at £4.20 and listening to the bacon crackle and the egg cooking just made me hungrier (lol!). I purchase food and take it home, but there is outdoor seating available if you'd like to stick around and eat there (for example today it was very sunny and dry out, so there were people sitting out and eating).

I booked this place for a two day training event in one of their small meeting rooms (The Beatles Room). A stunning and different location, overlooking the lake…best of all was the food…breakfast, lunch and afternoon cake, all except t ing with really good service. I will definitely use again when I’m working in this part of the country.
