Frank and Luna's in Southend-on-Sea

Not impressed A very bored guy serving the food. Place is in need of a good deep clean dirty grill sticky floor and uninteresting food served in silence . No atmosphere Only good thing Coffee was nice though. But not cheap and served lukewarm

Frank & Luna's you really need to up your milkshake game. I ordered a coffee milkshake and it was basically like room temperature watery latte and very bitter. It hadn't been blended with ice and as far as I could tell, had no ice cream in it either. Complete waste of money. On the plus side the bagels are nice.

A very friendly coffee shop with great options for vegans and veggies as well. I had the club sandwich and it’s honestly one of the best sandwiches I have ever eaten! Good value too!

I've been meaning to visit this place ever since it opened and I'm so glad that I eventually got around to it! Me and my partner popped in, early afternoon on a Sunday. You seat yourself and order at the bar. The music playing was great, a playlist and not just the radio which I appreciate. Great selection of food on the menu, depending on your diet or how hungry you are. Also a good selection of alcohol which is nice for brunch and early evenings. We both went for the Breakfast Smoothie and I had the Avo, Chorizo, Spring Onion and Coriander on Garlicky Sourdough whilst my partner just had the Toasted Banana Bread with Cinnamon Butter. There was a little wait for our food and we did notice that a couple that ordered after us were served quite a bit before us even though our meals weren't too different. Fortunately, for me, this was made up by how absolutely delicious the food was. Everything was perfect and beautifully presented. Only negative point I have was that the paper lining on the plate eventually started coming apart and merged with the food. My partner wasn't too keen on the Banana bread as it was quite dry and the cinnamon butter was too sickly which was a shame. Prices were great for the quality of the food, very affordable compared to what other places are charging. We'll definitely be back! Great little find.

Fancied a vegan brunch so went for a little stroll on my own and came to frank and lunas. It’s just off of hamlet court road. I use to come here a lot before I went plant based and have the halloumi sandwich which is delicious 10/10. Today I decided to have the portobello mushrooms on garlicky sour dough for £5. Was very yummy and filling. The atmosphere in here is very relaxing, nice place to come with a friend or on your own. The staff are always polite. Lots of options for plant based milks such as almond, oat, soya and coconut. I know they have to keep the menu relatively small as it’s not a massive kitchen they have to cook but I would love to see a vegan sausage added to the menu so then I could have it with the vegan breakfast or in a sandwich. Overall a nice place to pop into for breakfast/brunch

Come here often, best place in town for a full English and the salt beef beigel is unreal! Also, so nice to have the option of a local craft beer.

I haven’t been here for a while, but it’s still a fantastic place. Staff are friendly, the full breakfast is superb and the coffee continues to be the best in Westcliff. 5/5

Having visited F & L 2 years ago, see my review from March 2019 where I gave it 5 stars, I fancied a return visit as I remember having a great breakfast. Sadly this was not repeated on this occasion. When we arrived we were the second table to be seated the rest of the tables were empty. There was plenty of staff working behind the counter so the place was not busy or short staffed. Therefore I really couldn't fathom why the service was so slow. Firstly, the service was extremely slow it took an age to bring my husband his drink and then a while later for my drink to arrive. Why they couldn't have been brought to the table at the same time I don't know. The same happened with our breakfasts. We waited a very long time for them to arrive and when they did one arrived and then the other a short while later. Just bring them out at the same time. Secondly, the full breakfast was incredibly disappointing and was certainly not of the same standard that I experienced on my previous visit. For £9 I would expect more than one sausage and baked beans to be present. What I thoroughly disliked most was a third of my plate taken up with rocket ie garnish. I eat rocket when it's presented in a salad however it doesn't belong on the plate of a full English breakfast. Was it to make up for the fact that you had no beans I wonder? Thirdly, whilst the breakfast was tasty it was warm and not hot. So why didn't I say something at the time? My husband and I were so hungry at this point that we didn't want to wait for it to be re-cooked/re-heated/replaced so we just ate it. Overall a disappointing experience especially when compared to my previous visit. We waited far too long for our drinks and food. The food was warm instead of hot, rocket instead of baked beans on a breakfast and for £9 it was poor value as my husband and I left still feel hungry. It was certainly not hearty. I also felt there was a lot of scrimping going on. The milk provided for the tea was inadequate, the sauces portions provided were also too small and the breakfast was small with a load of rocket taking up a third of the plate to bulk it out. For a £9 breakfast I recommend you get rid of the rocket, replace it with beans and add and extra sausage. Other cafés in Leigh seem to be able to manage this. Additionally they also offer table service too. Why do we have to order at the counter? You're not Wetherspoons and you're not charging cheap and cheerful Wetherspoons prices either.

Went here again for cheese on toast and there must have been a different person cooking it. I had two slices of hard toast with so much melted cheese slapped on it it was welded together could not even cut into it as it was too thick and hard! So sad this time it was a horrible meal. So won't be going back

Great friendly service. Lovely vegetarian and vegan lunch followed by delicious cake. Clean and cool decor. Breakfast, brunch and lunch options.

So glad as last to go back to this cafe and have the cheese on toast with the onion chutney. It's the best I have had in the local cafes including the ones in Leigh Broadway. Also the staff here are all so nice. Will be calling in again for more! Xx

This was my first visit to this restaurant. I was very impressed. It is fresh and clean. We found the service was very good and friendly. I had a bagel and have to say it was the 1st bagel I have had in a long time that had that lovely slightly doughy texture a bagel should have (as apposed to most which taste like a bread roll with a hole in it) I also had a really nice hot spiced apple juice. I also got to taste the club sandwich which was also really nice. Being that I am local this will be going on our list of places we visit and would highly recommend it

With a name like this, it should be personal, and it is. Since one of the family moved nearby, this has become a frequent haunt for them and a favourite lunch spot for us on visits. The atmosphere is friendly, clean and informal. Food is fresh, tasty and well-presented whether you eat meat or are vegetarian. Highly Recommended.

Good coffee, food tastes amazing but can’t help wonder why they charge 6.50 for a salt beef bagel- that’s 4£ more than bagel bar in the Broadway and £2 more than brick lane bagels, please rethink guys! X

We visited over the weekend, food is lovely and reasonably priced for what you get. Superb selection of local beers, staff are very friendly and attentive. All in all my favourite cafe by far in the area.

A modern cafe with great coffee and a nice ambience. A great place for a coffee and a quick bite to eat. The staff were nice and the layout was spot on. Something different to add to the Southend/Westcliff coffee scene.

Came for brunch as a mother daughter outing, only to be ignored my all the staff when arriving. We sat at a table and waited 15 mins for menus as the waitresses were clearly avoiding eye contact not wanting to serve us. Once we got food menus our order was taken 10 mins later, at this point we still didn’t have a drinks menu so we were given these while ordering food. The food itself was excellent! Super delicious sandwiches with amazing flavor. Saying this we waited a long time for food, even longer for our juices. The juices were warm but still tasty! The cafe was full but not massively busy, it seemed like a few of the waitresses didn’t want to be there leaving others swept of their feet! The women next to us waited over an hour for effectively avocado and eggs on toast. We weren’t in a rush so we weren’t overly bothered by the wait. It’s a beautiful cafe with fabulous food but the service isn’t up to par, which is super disappointing to say as we were so excited to visit!

We visited Frank and Luna's on a Sunday morning. We ordered a full English, avocado and chorizo on sourdough and two breakfast smoothies. The food was tasty but portions were very small for the prices. Smoothies were good too but weren't cold enough. Overall it was nice but portions need to be bigger to make it worth coming back.

Super disappointing and utterly EXPENSIVE. The food is good and so it the coffee, but was surprised to learn - after paying the bill - that the promotion advertised on the black board didn't apply to what had I ordered, despite stating it'd apply to ANY sandwich/toast... The waitress apologised saying they should have corrected the black board! Well, they should have had the decency of making me aware of it in the first place. Not going back there at all.

Surprising depth of understanding of what it takes to make an awesome sandwich flavours and juicy gorgeousness and they serve peroni reserva it’s about time we had a nice place to get lunch in Southend!

We both had brick Lane bagels which were really good. They do lots of good quality dishes and sometimes do a Friday night opening which is great to have somewhere to go that isn't a bar or vape bar.Will definitely be going back and would recommend

So this is not my first time to visit, and it certainly won’t be my last! The area is full of what I would call a greasy spoon café, which is not a problem when you’re hung over. However, there needs to be somewhere where you can have a healthy, organic, well presented, and naturally delicious breakfast and this is the place to go locally...Salmon. Avocado. Salt beef bagel. Sausages and bacon. Eggs. Sour dough bread hand crafted coffee. Freshly squeezed juices. This family and pet friendly cafe is just the tonic for the clean living...

Delicious food and drink, good portions and friendly service. I had the veggie breakfast with a coconut latte and a cacao powder smoothie. All tasted great and lots of options for vegetarians. Recommended!

Had driven past this inviting looking café many times and finally made the time and effort to dine here with my son recently on a Sunday and I’m so glad I did. We both had the full English breakfast which was absolutely delicious and generously proportioned. The quality of the ingredients was good. My son’s milkshake was divine and my latte was just right too. Highly recommended.

What a lovely little cafe this is. My daughter took me for a birthday lunch to this new to me eatery, which is just off Hamlet Court Road.The food was lovely...I had an avocado sun dried tomato salad and a fabulous healthy fruit smoothy...delicious!The staff were so very and I loved the background music..Must go again to try something else!

I visited with a friend on one of their Christmas festive food and wine tasting evenings. The food was truly scrumptious with tempting surprises of delight complimented with the most delicious wines from Vino Vero! I have high expectations when it comes to food but wether you pop in for a slice of healthy toasted banana loaf or one of their special pop up food evenings you will not be disappointed.

Superb coffee, and the sandwiches and toast are exceptionally good. Excellent in every way. Nicely decorated cafe, very clean and well presented. Very clean WC. Highly recommended.

Contacted Frank & Lunas on Facebook to get a cake for my wife's birthday. I received great service and a excellent cake at a good price. They truly cared about making sure everything was good and checked in with me the next day.

I love Frank & Luna's and go here regularly with my husband, to meet friends or business contacts, or just to do some work on my laptop in a nice environment. It's great to have somewhere I can get good food that's healthy (if I can resist the cake) and a good coconut latte!

Stopped here for a coffee on our New Year wall. Was really tempted by the food that was being delivered all around me with healthy options and a vegan menu as well. Will definitely return for breakfast/brunch. They offered skimmed milk which was great and the coffee was the best I’ve had in a long time.

My family and I love Frank and Lunas. I go every week with my mum , dad and baby nephew (22 months old).

I visited recently after this place was recommended by a friend. I didn’t know it was here before. There was a good choice of food and it was reasonably priced. The cakes are amazing and the coffee was really good. The decor is very cool and they have really put the effort into all the finishing touches. Loved it and will definitely be back!

Absolutely lovely. We had the Camembert platter for 2, followed by a couple of pieces of cake......We will be back.

Had the pleasure of visiting Frank & Luan's several times, it serves easily the best coffee in town, amazing sandwiches, salads, cakes etc, beautiful décor and very welcoming staff.

Have been to Frank and Luna's a few times and it is now my favourite place. Such great homemade food, best coffee in town, and such friendly staff! Definitley the best of it's kind in the area.

It’s always special when one finds a Family run business. We’ve all experienced poor or also run large chains that take us for granted and don’t care if we ever return.

I think this is my 10th visit and every time I leave wanting to return soonest!

I am in here pretty regularly and treated very well. The coffee is superb and the food is to die for especially the homemade cakes and breads. Highly recommend a visit!

This was my 4th visit to Frank and Luna's as it is my new local, we came for lunch this time on Friday. Just love the atmosphere here. We both had the chicken sandwich (breadcrumb chicken, pesto, rocket, sundried tomatoes), yummy! Just love the coffee here too, I could sit here all day drinking coffee! Love the fact they sell local produce too - my friend bought some local brewed beers as a birthday present - they had great quirky names like SS9 and references to the local area.

Frank & Luna's is a great place to have breakfast or lunch, in a clean and cool environment. The service is excellent and the cakes are amazing!!! Highly recommend

Everything about this little place is amazing! The decor is wonderful, the staff (I believe is the owner) is so friendly, the food is delicious and so affordable!!! Breakfast costs around £3.50. I have been twice and can't wait to visit again to the rhe sausage plait and chutney and some of the delicious cakes that are in the counter!

This place is amazing. Coffee is great, and the smoked salmon, cream cheese, dill and capers on charcoal beigel is honestly the best ever! I’ve found myself a new regular brunch venue.

Been waiting for a decent coffee shop/local hangout to open in Westcliff in the whole 8 years I have been living there - Frank and Lunas does not disappoint! Lovely cute coffee shop, the girls are so friendly and welcoming. You could easily go in and spend a few hours there just drinking coffee and eating! Both times I have been for breakfast we were lucky enough to sit in the sun outside. Recommend either the avocado on sourdough (lots of avocado which is nice!) or the boiled eggs with dippy soldiers - lovely buttery toast!
