Framlingham Fish Bar in Suffolk Coastal

Tried this place again. Last time I'll bother. Chips like bullets, fish horrible. And it was dead on a Friday night. About time someone who knows what they're doing took this place on, it could be a gold mine.

Took my money and waited 45 mins for a greasy portion on chips. Terrible service best before you take money to tell someone how long the wait will be. I wasn’t the only person in the shop complaining. Avoid

I have been using this fish shop for the last two years, unfortunately the last couple of visits have been disappointing. Batter no longer fluffy and crunchy but thin and stodgy (new recipe perhaps? Not to my liking) UPDATE: the fish has definitely improved, very generous portions. UPDATE: very small portion of chips for £4.00 used to feed two now not enough for one.

The cod and chips were delicious! The portion sizes were good and great value for the money. Would visit again if in the area.

Just passing through on our way home to the Midlands. Only needed a box of regular chips. Delicious. Crispy, tasty, well cooked and helpful: I wanted salt my husband didn't & instead of half & half salting, they shared the portion between 2 boxes!

Did not have chips ready, chips tasted like cabbage and as if the the oil had be around since napoleon, or filtered with a sieve that has no mesh. If you rate this more than one star you've only been here for fish and chips. Would rather eat a raw potato.

Absolutely stellar fish and chips experience at Framlingham! Hands down the best in town. The batter was perfectly crispy, and the fish was incredibly fresh. And let's talk about the calamari – hands down, the best I've ever had in this town! 5 stars all the way.

Went once and never again my son has got food poisoning from this place ordered scampi I have literally paid some one to make my son ill I always order scampi from everywhere else and never have had this problem save your money and your health and by the looks of the reviews on here his not the only one who has gotten ill from there food so that says alot

Great food, great customer service and the atmosphere is nice and relaxing! I go all the time and will be coming back again! People were friendly and very helpful! They have a new menu with many options and they have a lunch offer which is great!

Service was fast and impeccable and all the workers were lovely! Especially the girl, the food exceeded any expectations I had by miles and miles I’ll not only come back but visit frequently, they even gave my younger brother a free lollipop! Such a friendly atmosphere! Definitely worth my money, especially with the new lunch deals!

DREADFUL!!!!! A real shame, this had been our favourite local chippy for many years under the previous owners. The current team really have gone from bad to worse. We had a really poor experience several weeks ago, disgusting huge soggy chips and not very pleasant haddock, but decoded to give it one last try after footy. No large haddock available so ordered extra regular haddock & advised 15 mins. Arrived 20 mins later & paid. The lady in front of me advised me she’d been told the same & had already been there 15 minutes. I eventually got my food after a 45 minute wait, 1 hr & 5 mins after I ordered. Got home & huge soggy disgusting Chips, half of which weren’t cooked & had to be thrown out and the haddock was really not well cooked or pleasant in colour or taste. Portions also terrible, huge surface area but with approx 5mm of mish on skin. Honestly this is the worst fish & chips I’ve ever experienced. I don’t normally leave reviews unless exceptoionally good or as in this case exceptionally bad.

I went last week with my sister and it was absolutely a good idea. The fish was really tasty and fresh, chips is a must and it was on point. We’ve taken it out to home and it was packaged very well, it was still as warm as it can be.

Last Thursday, I decided to have fish and chips for lunch from Framlingham Fishe Bar. It was a tragedy, after having eating I was sick and needed a doctor help. I think the staff member knew what he was selling to me. So be carefull, this place can be dangerous.

Hands down, the best fish and chips experience I’ve ever had! The fish was impeccably crispy, perfectly complemented by its generous portion size. Those chips! Chunky and delicious 😍 needless to say, I’ll definitely will be returning for more!

Lovely chips on the 2 visits we've had, but the staff serving was rude as he was on the phone, speaking in his language, he wasn't concentrating and only put salt on chips when we asked for vinegar also, he had to tape the box back up to adjust the order.

I must say best in Framlingham fish shop the boys that work in there and very clean and Cheerful good customer service I had cod and chips 4x for the family kids loved it and eat it all keep it up boys good work will be back soon

Young people in there are rude and clueless! Extremely greasy food which isn't pleasant. Prices are very high (more so than elsewhere). Only best thing is the curry sauce! Save your money & go elsewhere(just giving you a heads up). Much better with the old owners.

Very expensive there are cheaper chippies about Saxmundham/Martlesham/woodbridge. food at framlingham chippy is very good though not alot for your money

We were starving at lunchtime and thought... we need chips! After fast service, in a lovely box, we received the best chips ive had in a long time! Lovely chunky, freshly cooked chips too! Only £3.50 for a large portion too! 😀

We had heard such good reviews about this chip shop, but what a let down!! The person serving spent all his time talking on the phone, he was obviously very occupied with his phone call, so much so that the fish was very overcooked, bordering on being burnt, it was virtually inedible. The chips were passable but we will not be going back.

Large fish was excellent .easily enough for 2 people . Very good.

OK nothing special good portions bit slow

Amazing, enormous piece of haddock with a large portion of very nice chips. A little pricey but would feed 2. Give it a go.

Our daughter brought us a takeaway yesterday as I am poorly and didn’t feel like cooking, my Haddock and my husbands Cod were so over cooked almost burnt the fish had dried out. Have just tried to report this as did not want to write this but I don’t think they understood what I was saying. I don’t want freebies just a decent fish and chips especially when I’m poorly

Ordered rock eel by phone. Cooked to order...£9.50. Got home couldn't even chew thru the batter. Fish inside had shrunk to nothing. This fish has been left since lunchtime. Hoping that someone like me will eventually order it. Called them to complain but got shouted at down phone. Do not buy if you want to enjoy your fish supper or not want to throw money down drain. I would give no stars but wouldn't let me review otherwise. BTW...this is the first time I've been angry enough to be bothered to review

I phoned in a takeaway order, and it was cooked well and really tasty, with no soggy chips at all. I could pay contactlessly with my debit card, but could have paid with cash if I had enough. Only 4 customers at a time in the shop at present with face coverings on. And there is hand sanitizer available to use from a foot operated dispenser. I will use them again and highly recommend them. 😀

1st time we have had fish and chips from Framlingham fish bar and Omg they were the best I have had in a long long time. Beautiful fish, got 3 large pieces and enough chips to feed an army! Couldn't eat them all. Cooked to perfection. Will definately be using again.

If you don't mind your chips not fried in the traditional beef dripping etc. Then you will like what they offer

Excellent Fish and Chips, we are extremely fussy people and recently have been disappointed in the quality or portion sizeof Fish and Chips in Suffolk .However, we decided to give our local Fish and Chip shop ago as I heard it had a new owner. Wow! It was excellent, phoned them asked if they could 'double cook' the chips as we like them well cooked, yes they could 😀. Result large fresh cod / Haddock and perfectly cooked chips..we will be back. Thank you

Amazing fish & chips ,lovely & hot with crispy batter and perfectly cooked fish . Great service too (not parked car in best place) so the very kind staff actually brought our order out to our car for us which was really appreciated under the circumstances of today. Will definitely be returning 👍

Food is very tasty and the portions, esp the chips are a good size. Disappointing that they advertise a leg of chicken which turns out to simply be a chicken drumstick not the whole leg as in most fish and chip shops. The only reason I’ve scored it 3 stars is the price of their food. It is expensive. The most expensive I’ve seen travelling around surrounding towns and across the country through work. Perhaps they are taking advantage of being the only fish and chip shop in town. Good to see they have finally started to take card payments

Great little fish and chip shop - Ed Sheeran’s favourite, apparently! Traditional portions (big) and traditionally cooked chips (chunky and a mix of crispy and soggy ones). Really nice staff - definitely recommend.

EDIT: posted this two months ago, my partner went back to this fish bar lastnight to get battered sausages and chips. The chips were alright but not of a high standard. The sausages were soggy and hardly cooked. They were mushy like they had been served straight out of a nursing home for elderly people without teeth. I will not be buying here anymore. Go to zorbas. Just moved to framlingham and found this little gem of a fish bar, dosent only sell fish, it also sells chicken, burgers and wraps. Everything is cooked very quickly, my order was ready within 10 minutes. Was still hot when it got home and tastes delicious! The chips are lovely and no where near as greasy as every other place. The nuggets are proper chicken and tasted amazing. Last but not least, the burgers are huge and very nicely done, tastes amazing theres no other words for it! 5 stars!!!
