Fox Ilkley in Bradford

This is our local pub which we go to quite frequently. Service is always 10/10 including going above and beyond for a recent birthday meal! We can’t wait to return, Lisa, Harvey and Alex were absolutely incredible on Monday 2nd June!

🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 The Fox in Menston is our local pub, and we feel so lucky to have it on our doorstep. On our most recent visit, we had an amazing experience! From the warm, welcoming atmosphere to the fantastic food and drinks, everything was spot on. A special shoutout to the incredible staff Lisa, Alex, and Harvey who went above and beyond to make our visit truly memorable. Their friendly service, attention to detail, and genuine smiles made us feel right at home. Can’t recommend this place enough! Whether you’re popping in for a quiet drink or enjoying a meal with friends and family, The Fox never disappoints. The Fox is also dog friendly in the bar area – our miniature dachshund was absolutely spoiled with fuss and attention, which made our visit even more enjoyable! 🐶

All first class for Sunday lunch. Great menu, we will have to return to sample a different choice!! Good service, thanks Lisa!

Disappointing starter 4 prawns and a piece of bread. Prawns not de veined. Very bland. Order the chicken breast sandwich with a side salad. Portion size was very small and the side salad came drenched in oil.

We had a great time yesterday at thr Fox. The food was good and our waitress Lisa was super helpful and friendly. She made it feel that little bit more special for my Mother in Law who was celebrating her 102nd birthday.

This is a large and busy "gastro" pub. The Sunday menu is pretty simple and not that "gastro". But the food was enjoyed by all and the service was very pleasant. I would return.

Mother’s day lunch was fabulous. Great menu, reasonable price, food did not disappoint. The service was excellent. We were served by Emily who was friendly and attentive. Really good experience, especially being such a busy day.

The food was really nicely cooked and presented and the service from Olivia was great!

The burger I had here was so good, that life will never be the same.

Held my mother-in-laws 70th birthday party at the upstairs on which was lovely. The food was very good. Selection of Sunday diner, burgers, pastas etc. service was exceptional. I had a great conversation with the staff and everything we asked for was dealt with. Massive thanks to Olivia, Hannah, Annabel, Adam and Jake. Thank you for making our afternoon very special. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED 5*

Chloe and Olivia were incredible servers even with difficult customers complaining about stuff out of their control. They were incredibly attentive. The food and the atmosphere were incredible. 10/10

Another great night in the Fox. Adam was the bar man and a lovely lady from Liverpool called Lisa. First class service normally we get Chloe, James or Yazmin who are excellent too. Keep up the great work.

AVOID. Generally I eat somewhere 3 times before leaving a negative review. Have eaten here something 5 times in the last year due to family or friends asking me and all 5 visits have been DIRE , and for the same reasons, quality of food, slow service and ridiculous prices. It's on the main road towards Burley in Wharfedale from Guiseley. Car park at the back. An old pub so accessibility is not great. I guess they think they are a gastro pub which in this case means they inflate the price, over garnish the food and underdeliver in most areas. I ordered some artisanal bread and dips as a mini starter. When it came out my wife and I were hysterically laughing for 10+ minutes. It was toast! 4 slices of toast, with 2 dips and 2 pieces of butter that were frozen solid. As it happens neither of us had eaten so we wolfed down the toast. Artisanal bread = toast? £6? Nope nope nope. Then I had a salad bowl. Not sure how you can mess up a salad howl.... It had zero taste from overripe avocado to underripe tomato, no dressing, etc, etc. I gave up. It was something around 14£ by the way. Service was painful. Slow beyond slow. The young lad, and 2 young girls on duty spent most of their time behind the corner of the bar drinking coffee and chatting. I don't begrudge them, it was mostly empty and they were probably bored. Best part of the experience? Warm toast with a dip, which was filling... Never going here again. Waste of money. Wetherspoons is a much better experience at a third of the cost. PS just hit 11 million views so quite hapoy with that.

food was great but staff needs sorting out. I went out with my family for dinner, not the first time i’ve visited the fox, as i’ve been there previously multiple times with friends. Our waitress was a woman, whose name i unfortunately don’t know. she had mid/long length black hair and i think she might have been in her late 30s maybe early 40s. She sat us down and asked about allergies, to which we responded that my 9 year old brother is allergic to all types of nuts as well as sesame seeds. My mum was the one that talked to the waitress explaining his allergies. My mum is not from here, so her English is not the best. she mispronounced the word „sesame”, to which the waitress responded by laughing and said „don’t worry, my polish is just as bad as your english”. This behaviour is unacceptable. We visited your venue to have a nice family dinner but instead we were welcomed by stupid, unnecessary, rude comments. We were then greeted by another waitress due to the allergy, who was amazing and treated us with care . I was not aware of the comment that had been made until after we left, as my mum was too embarrassed to tell me about it, otherwise i would’ve made a complaint whilst we were still there. Unfortunately, we will not be visiting again.

Good eating pub, couldn't get a full impression because it was a quick stop with little time, but it was still a cut above on quality. Good friendly staffa as well

I was due to meet friends at 1.30pm for lunch, I was told they hadn't arrived yet & was shown to a table. As it got closer to 1.30pm & my friends hadn't arrived, I was asked if I had booked a table for 3, I then found my friends had been seated around the corner all this time. When the food arrived it was cold & had to be returned. My friend only got one small piece of Pork belly compared to our lunch portion. We had to ask for sauces & more gravy. It was a disappointing visit and I'm unlikely to return. There is so much to improve on before I would consider a return visit. Overall very disappointed...could do much better.

An excellent bar and restaurant that is decorated to a level giving it the atmosphere of an upgrade market venue without the pricing of such venues. The service is first class and a big mention to "Lisa" who went above and beyond to ensure we had a great experience. We have visited many times before and will do so in the future.

Had Christmas dinner there and it was super. The service was excellent, especially from Lisa. The food was excellent too. Would definitely recommend.

I used to enjoy coming to this pub for a pint with friends and family, but I think I’m done with trying now. Every single time I have been there recently the one “middle of the road” decent ale (Landlord) is off. You ask the staff why and there is always a tale to be told. Here’s a few examples: - “The delivery didn’t come in this week” so blaming the supplier. - “Sorry, it’s just run out and we don’t have any more” which has been used a few times. If it was so flaming popular why on earth aren’t you ordering twice or three times as much? You’d be raking it in 💷💷💷 - “It’s off as we are line cleaning and it won’t be back on for a few hours” which was used this Friday afternoon. Why on earth would a pub be cleaning its lines on one of the busiest afternoon/evenings of the week?! That’s just dumb and by the time we left there was still no sign of it coming back on or any line cleaning activity so they are just taking customers for fools. I suggest the group management of this place have a closer look at the practices being implemented and sort it out as you are getting a reputation with locals and lying to us about corner cutting isn’t a great look. Even the staff on the bar commented to each other about me taking a photo of the beer taps on the way out so they clearly know there could be fallout from this being flagged.

Me and my partner went for some Sunday lunch and was totally blown away by the quality and standard of the food also the service was brilliant such a welcoming atmosphere provided by the team at the fox, James the general manager and his team was very attentive to a high standard and also provided a wonderful dining experience, the teams engagement with us and other guests was something very rare to come by these days such wonderful people I highly recommend this place for a great dining experience .

We visited the Fox on Christmas Eve as a 3 generation party of 11. When we arrived the bar area was very very busy however we were quickly greeted by James who ensured our table was cleared and quickly ready. Throughout the evening we were served by Lisa, with a smile, and she couldn’t have been more helpful or hardworking, she is certainly and asset to the restaurant. The food and general ambience were superb even on such a very busy evening. Thank you to all the team.

Fabulous visit, took 3 small children, well catered for, nothing to much trouble Max our server, just thank-you so much, you were so kind and nothing was too much trouble. I can't recommend the fox enough, I've been on several occasions with kids , company and alone, always a warm welcome and lovely experience

The staff at the Fox are so warm and friendly. They are also super professional, they always take the time to make sure you are well looked after and will go out of their way to ensure you have the best experience whilst you're there. They have become our friends and we feel so welcomed and safe in their company.

It was Christmas Day, we paid a lot of me for 8 people . We felt from the beginning we were completely rushed, food was cleared before people had finished, we feel like something like Christmas Day when we have booked in for 11.30 we should be rushed and back out the door with in an hour and half. Have of our party didn’t even get to finish their cocktails. We were extremely disappointed for a Christmas Day experience

Having been regular patrons on each visit to the area, a Xmas lunch was to be a treat. Instead of which it was a nightmare, the food was cold, uncooked and definitely not up to the standard one normally received. The price of the meal £,85 per person was extortionate. We would have got better value at a carvery in Huddersfield for a third of the price. Despite apologies for the food and the promised free future meal, our much anticipated Xmas dinner turned out to be an unmitigated disaster.

Just returned from an absolutely fabulous Christmas Eve at The Fox, Menston, Ilkley. Gorgeous food, lovely atmosphere but above all, an outstanding member of staff, Lisa, whose customer service was 2nd to none. Nothing was too much trouble, even adding an extra starter at the very last minute! Everything was delivered with a smile and a lovely warm attitude. Thank you so much for such brilliant service to our table of 9. We’ll definitely be seeing you again soon and booking for Christmas Eve 2025!

Have been many times in the past always happy with service and food. Lisa served us last night very helpful and friendly and good service throughout our meal.

Very disappointing. I should have been more put off by having to enter my car registration on entry. Over £7 for a pint, and I couldn't even get mobile reception in there while I drank it. I don't mind paying more for a pub with a nice view, but its sat right on a road junction.

Came for dinner and Lisa was the perfect host, recommended the wine & dine, which was perfect the steak was delish the wine was of good quality and as a couple who only one loves a dessert to have there option of a cocktail instead was very impressive. Excellent food, we had the seabass and the steak and malbec pie, followed by the lemon tart, all well worth a try. Great attentive service from Lucy and all the other staff. Just to say thank you to the kitchen staff for a great meal

Great place. Just stopped off here after a long dog walk. The staff were very welcoming and happy to allow dogs in. We had a rare day away from the children so spoilt ourselves with the 3 course deal and some drinks from the large array of choices. The food was superb, all delicious in their own right, none letting the side down, all served very quickly also. Towards the end of the meal (15:30ish) more groups with children just out of school were turning up, but the place is large and friendly enough that it wasn’t too crowded or noisy when this happened. Had a great time and will be coming back in the near future.

Top quality food would recommend

The fox has a wheelchair/pram friendly entrance, carpark can get very tight when busy. I had the pan fried sea bass, very tasty. My wife had the pork belly roast dinner, which she enjoyed.

We booked the upstairs room at the Fox for an afternoon funeral buffet. From our first contact with James we knew it was the right choice. Everyone was so friendly and approachable. The room was perfect, cosy and comfortable on a dreary day. We were advised to under order and I’m glad we did. The servings were generous and the chicken and fish goujons in particular were delicious, as was the lemon tart. Many guests commented on the quality of the food. Thank you to everyone concerned on the day for your kind attention.

I ate here last week and was served by a waitress with a buzz cut (sorry I can’t remember her name). The food was great and the service was excellent, she was super attentive! Will definitely visit again.

Loving this new New Menu. Absolutely divine flavours from all 3 courses. Starter didn't disappoint, I had Goats cheese tart which wasn't too strong. Mushroom starter in a lovely creamy cheese sauce. Mushroom Risotto (yes I love mushrooms) for main which was the nicest I have ever tasted regarding a Risotto. I wouldn't normally go for vegetarian dishes but the flavours were beautiful. Finished off sharing a Crème Brûlée which was light but tasty. All in all a lovely experience.

Had a family event here for 31 people, really great food. Staff were unbelievably helpful with everything from splitting the tab into smaller groups to catering for food allergies. Big thank you from all of us

Extremely overpriced, bang average food! We were waiting for over 50 minutes for our meals, they came out randomly and the quality was not there, especially for the price. Service wasn't great as well. The actual pub and setting is quite nice.

First n foremost our host Izzie we could not fault her she was amazing explain everything and she even played with little Noah who was obsessed with her. The food wow I got the pork belly roast it was beautiful soft and tender the only downfall was the carrot n parsnip were cold n hard and would drop them for stem broccoli instead. My partner got the dirty burger and fries with a side of halloumi fries and they were perfect along with the burger. My friend ordered the cellaic steak and she enjoyed hers thr only thing we agreed on is they could use less salt. The trio of desserts were actual desserts so that was a surprise but a good. We shall be back for sure and Izzie if you see this keep up the amazing work your a fab host 😊

Visited here last minute upon staying at the Chevin End Guest House for the weeke d with a business trip (which may I add is great for accommodation). The atmosphere was ideal for a cosy dinner for 2, and the selection of drinks and food was plentiful. We were greeted by Hannah and Chloe, who were absolutely lovely all evening. Above and beyond service, and you could tell they actually cared about the quality of our experience. Food was reasonable given the slightly more sophisticated setting. We had the steak pie, which was rich and delicious and the dirty burger! Followed by the trio of deserts, which is a must-have! It's really hard to find a good creme brulee, but this one is perfect! Ate here tonight with my husband. The customer service wow! So so attentive, the chef was on his own, they told they might be a slight wait. I hard pork belly, my husband and the rare lamb. It was absolute perfection. Highly recommend

It's ok. But the atmosphere is a bit frenetic. Worn. And they often run out of dishes so eating there is a bit of an ad hoc thing. Nice staff though. Ok pub.

We only called in for a meeting but atmosphere and beer was really good.

We visit this restaurant regularly for a nice evening meal and the food has always been of a good standard. However on this occasion for some stupid reason there was a DJ on inside the pub. Right in the middle next to the restaurant and the noise level was horrendous ! We booked on-line at your website and there was no mention of this, had there been we would have booked another day. It went on for the whole duration of our meal. The staff were as helpful as they could be in seating us as far away as possible but it was still uncomfortable.

We came a couple of weeks ago for a Sunday lunch after a tiresome weekend. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. Lisa who smelled amazing served us and made us go home with a smile and are looking forward to the same food and service when we return X

Loved every minute. We arrived early so we could have a drink outside in the sun before having an amazing Sunday lunch. Finished our meal off with a delicious cocktail and mini pud, staff were so helpful and attentive. We will definitely be back to try more!

We really enjoyed having lunch at the Fox today, the service from Lisa, Adam and Chloe was excellent. Always super friendly and they'll put special requests through to the kitchen no issue. The Hake special was delicious and would highly recommend. Will be going again next week.

Lisa and co are always on hand to make me and my family welcome. There’s always different themed days going on too. Great service and if you don’t fancy eating, it’s nice for a drink too.

A Touch of Class in Menston We came to the Fox on a recommendation and were not disappointed . We were met with a warm welcome and prompt service . My wife chose Fish Cakes from the 2 course menu and I opted for a succulent Roast Lamb from the Ala Carte menu . We strongly recommend you consider the Elderflower Fizz if you have a driver in your party , strongly laced with Fresh Mint . Both meals were well presented and flavoured and we received charming attentive service from our waitress Lisa . We both opted for deserts , which fully met our expectations . ( Chocolate Brownie and A Lemon Tarte) We came to celebrate a key event in my retirement and would certainly expect to return .

Friendly staff, good food at reasonable prices, real ale, nice ambiance. Highly recommend.
