Fox Ilkley in Bradford

I was due to meet friends at 1.30pm for lunch, I was told they hadn't arrived yet & was shown to a table. As it got closer to 1.30pm & my friends hadn't arrived, I was asked if I had booked a table for 3, I then found my friends had been seated around the corner all this time. When the food arrived it was cold & had to be returned. My friend only got one small piece of Pork belly compared to our lunch portion. We had to ask for sauces & more gravy. It was a disappointing visit and I'm unlikely to return. There is so much to improve on before I would consider a return visit. Overall very disappointed...could do much better.

We visit fairly regularly, a good pub but the menu can be hit and miss. The service is always outstanding there, they really cannot do enough. Needs a bit of a facelift as it's looking tired but we still like visiting.

An excellent bar and restaurant that is decorated to a level giving it the atmosphere of an upgrade market venue without the pricing of such venues. The service is first class and a big mention to "Lisa" who went above and beyond to ensure we had a great experience. We have visited many times before and will do so in the future.

James and the team are doing a great Job excellent staff. Take note Butler and Mitchell and back your staff

Had Christmas dinner there and it was super. The service was excellent, especially from Lisa. The food was excellent too. Would definitely recommend.

I used to enjoy coming to this pub for a pint with friends and family, but I think I’m done with trying now. Every single time I have been there recently the one “middle of the road” decent ale (Landlord) is off. You ask the staff why and there is always a tale to be told. Here’s a few examples: - “The delivery didn’t come in this week” so blaming the supplier. - “Sorry, it’s just run out and we don’t have any more” which has been used a few times. If it was so flaming popular why on earth aren’t you ordering twice or three times as much? You’d be raking it in 💷💷💷 - “It’s off as we are line cleaning and it won’t be back on for a few hours” which was used this Friday afternoon. Why on earth would a pub be cleaning its lines on one of the busiest afternoon/evenings of the week?! That’s just dumb and by the time we left there was still no sign of it coming back on or any line cleaning activity so they are just taking customers for fools. I suggest the group management of this place have a closer look at the practices being implemented and sort it out as you are getting a reputation with locals and lying to us about corner cutting isn’t a great look. Even the staff on the bar commented to each other about me taking a photo of the beer taps on the way out so they clearly know there could be fallout from this being flagged.

Me and my partner went for some Sunday lunch and was totally blown away by the quality and standard of the food also the service was brilliant such a welcoming atmosphere provided by the team at the fox, James the general manager and his team was very attentive to a high standard and also provided a wonderful dining experience, the teams engagement with us and other guests was something very rare to come by these days such wonderful people I highly recommend this place for a great dining experience .

Had a lovely Sunday roast. Staff were very welcoming. Our waitress Lisa was very pleasant and helpful. Great atmosphere Would definitely recommend. We will be coming back again

We visited the Fox on Christmas Eve as a 3 generation party of 11. When we arrived the bar area was very very busy however we were quickly greeted by James who ensured our table was cleared and quickly ready. Throughout the evening we were served by Lisa, with a smile, and she couldn’t have been more helpful or hardworking, she is certainly and asset to the restaurant. The food and general ambience were superb even on such a very busy evening. Thank you to all the team.

Fabulous visit, took 3 small children, well catered for, nothing to much trouble Max our server, just thank-you so much, you were so kind and nothing was too much trouble. I can't recommend the fox enough, I've been on several occasions with kids , company and alone, always a warm welcome and lovely experience

The staff at the Fox are so warm and friendly. They are also super professional, they always take the time to make sure you are well looked after and will go out of their way to ensure you have the best experience whilst you're there. They have become our friends and we feel so welcomed and safe in their company.

It was Christmas Day, we paid a lot of me for 8 people . We felt from the beginning we were completely rushed, food was cleared before people had finished, we feel like something like Christmas Day when we have booked in for 11.30 we should be rushed and back out the door with in an hour and half. Have of our party didn’t even get to finish their cocktails. We were extremely disappointed for a Christmas Day experience

Having been regular patrons on each visit to the area, a Xmas lunch was to be a treat. Instead of which it was a nightmare, the food was cold, uncooked and definitely not up to the standard one normally received. The price of the meal £,85 per person was extortionate. We would have got better value at a carvery in Huddersfield for a third of the price. Despite apologies for the food and the promised free future meal, our much anticipated Xmas dinner turned out to be an unmitigated disaster.

Just returned from an absolutely fabulous Christmas Eve at The Fox, Menston, Ilkley. Gorgeous food, lovely atmosphere but above all, an outstanding member of staff, Lisa, whose customer service was 2nd to none. Nothing was too much trouble, even adding an extra starter at the very last minute! Everything was delivered with a smile and a lovely warm attitude. Thank you so much for such brilliant service to our table of 9. We’ll definitely be seeing you again soon and booking for Christmas Eve 2025!

Have been many times in the past always happy with service and food. Lisa served us last night very helpful and friendly and good service throughout our meal.

Very disappointing. I should have been more put off by having to enter my car registration on entry. Over £7 for a pint, and I couldn't even get mobile reception in there while I drank it. I don't mind paying more for a pub with a nice view, but its sat right on a road junction.

Came for dinner and Lisa was the perfect host, recommended the wine & dine, which was perfect the steak was delish the wine was of good quality and as a couple who only one loves a dessert to have there option of a cocktail instead was very impressive. Great place. Just stopped off here after a long dog walk. The staff were very welcoming and happy to allow dogs in. We had a rare day away from the children so spoilt ourselves with the 3 course deal and some drinks from the large array of choices. The food was superb, all delicious in their own right, none letting the side down, all served very quickly also. Towards the end of the meal (15:30ish) more groups with children just out of school were turning up, but the place is large and friendly enough that it wasn’t too crowded or noisy when this happened. Had a great time and will be coming back in the near future.

The fox has a wheelchair/pram friendly entrance, carpark can get very tight when busy. I had the pan fried sea bass, very tasty. My wife had the pork belly roast dinner, which she enjoyed.

We booked the upstairs room at the Fox for an afternoon funeral buffet. From our first contact with James we knew it was the right choice. Everyone was so friendly and approachable. The room was perfect, cosy and comfortable on a dreary day. We were advised to under order and I’m glad we did. The servings were generous and the chicken and fish goujons in particular were delicious, as was the lemon tart. Many guests commented on the quality of the food. Thank you to everyone concerned on the day for your kind attention.

I ate here last week and was served by a waitress with a buzz cut (sorry I can’t remember her name). The food was great and the service was excellent, she was super attentive! Will definitely visit again.

Loving this new New Menu. Absolutely divine flavours from all 3 courses. Starter didn't disappoint, I had Goats cheese tart which wasn't too strong. Mushroom starter in a lovely creamy cheese sauce. Mushroom Risotto (yes I love mushrooms) for main which was the nicest I have ever tasted regarding a Risotto. I wouldn't normally go for vegetarian dishes but the flavours were beautiful. Finished off sharing a Crème Brûlée which was light but tasty. All in all a lovely experience.

Had a family event here for 31 people, really great food. Staff were unbelievably helpful with everything from splitting the tab into smaller groups to catering for food allergies. Big thank you from all of us

Extremely overpriced, bang average food! We were waiting for over 50 minutes for our meals, they came out randomly and the quality was not there, especially for the price. Service wasn't great as well. The actual pub and setting is quite nice.

The service here is great & Izzie our server was brilliant, nothing was too much trouble. The food & drinks were lovely.

Food was ok, very expensive for what we had. Service was fantastic. We were a large party of 10, felt we were shoved around the corner out of the way, would have been nice to have been in the vicinity of restaurant hub.

First n foremost our host Izzie we could not fault her she was amazing explain everything and she even played with little Noah who was obsessed with her. The food wow I got the pork belly roast it was beautiful soft and tender the only downfall was the carrot n parsnip were cold n hard and would drop them for stem broccoli instead. My partner got the dirty burger and fries with a side of halloumi fries and they were perfect along with the burger. My friend ordered the cellaic steak and she enjoyed hers thr only thing we agreed on is they could use less salt. The trio of desserts were actual desserts so that was a surprise but a good. We shall be back for sure and Izzie if you see this keep up the amazing work your a fab host 😊

Visited here last minute upon staying at the Chevin End Guest House for the weeke d with a business trip (which may I add is great for accommodation). The atmosphere was ideal for a cosy dinner for 2, and the selection of drinks and food was plentiful. We were greeted by Hannah and Chloe, who were absolutely lovely all evening. Above and beyond service, and you could tell they actually cared about the quality of our experience. Food was reasonable given the slightly more sophisticated setting. We had the steak pie, which was rich and delicious and the dirty burger! Followed by the trio of deserts, which is a must-have! It's really hard to find a good creme brulee, but this one is perfect! Ate here tonight with my husband. The customer service wow! So so attentive, the chef was on his own, they told they might be a slight wait. I hard pork belly, my husband and the rare lamb. It was absolute perfection. Highly recommend

It's ok. But the atmosphere is a bit frenetic. Worn. And they often run out of dishes so eating there is a bit of an ad hoc thing. Nice staff though. Ok pub.

We only called in for a meeting but atmosphere and beer was really good.

We visit this restaurant regularly for a nice evening meal and the food has always been of a good standard. However on this occasion for some stupid reason there was a DJ on inside the pub. Right in the middle next to the restaurant and the noise level was horrendous ! We booked on-line at your website and there was no mention of this, had there been we would have booked another day. It went on for the whole duration of our meal. The staff were as helpful as they could be in seating us as far away as possible but it was still uncomfortable.

We came a couple of weeks ago for a Sunday lunch after a tiresome weekend. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. Lisa who smelled amazing served us and made us go home with a smile and are looking forward to the same food and service when we return X

Loved every minute. We arrived early so we could have a drink outside in the sun before having an amazing Sunday lunch. Finished our meal off with a delicious cocktail and mini pud, staff were so helpful and attentive. We will definitely be back to try more!

We really enjoyed having lunch at the Fox today, the service from Lisa, Adam and Chloe was excellent. Always super friendly and they'll put special requests through to the kitchen no issue. The Hake special was delicious and would highly recommend. Will be going again next week.

A Touch of Class in Menston We came to the Fox on a recommendation and were not disappointed . We were met with a warm welcome and prompt service . My wife chose Fish Cakes from the 2 course menu and I opted for a succulent Roast Lamb from the Ala Carte menu . We strongly recommend you consider the Elderflower Fizz if you have a driver in your party , strongly laced with Fresh Mint . Both meals were well presented and flavoured and we received charming attentive service from our waitress Lisa . We both opted for deserts , which fully met our expectations . ( Chocolate Brownie and A Lemon Tarte) We came to celebrate a key event in my retirement and would certainly expect to return .

Lisa and co are always on hand to make me and my family welcome. There’s always different themed days going on too. Great service and if you don’t fancy eating, it’s nice for a drink too.

Can't help resonate with other reviewers in stating that the food is bang average/average pub grub for above average prices I'm afraid. Nearly £20 for a "dirty burger" which is just a single patty with some bacon and cheese. Much better can be had elsewhere for a lot less. Quite underwhelming actually as I'd heard such raving reviews about this place, not for me.

Really nice food, great prices and nice atmosphere. Izzie our host was great, really attentive, constantly checking we had what we needed and if we wanted more drinks. Lovely way to celebrate the wife’s birthday. Nice little dessert as a surprise too. 👍

Don't bother. Bland food & really *really* slow to be served. Visited last week for lunch, didn't seem busy; in fact it wasn't busy. Staff were OK, but they were let down by the quality of what they were bringing out of a kitchen that had left the hand break on. And couldn't find first gear.

Service was very good, food delivered quickly (unlike the last time we visited a few years ago). More vegetarian options would have been appreciated. Overall a present visit.

Staff are delightful and helpful. Their choice of starters are amazing expecially scallops.

My wife and I had arranged to have lunch with friends, who suggested that we meet up at The Fox. We expected that being a pub, it would be the usual "pub grub" that would be served. When we arrived, we were amazed at the scope of the menu. There was a very wide selection of dishes available from the usual pub favourites to more sophisticated fare. The service was absolutely first class from both the bar staff and from Lisa who looked after us. Not only that but the food was beautifully presented. So, it was a nice lunch time meeting up with old friends whilst at the same time enjoying some first rate cuisine. This is a good all round pub. It has a good selection of ales in the bar, it serves food to cater for all tastes, including those who want something a bit different, all backed up by excellent service. This was our first visit to The Fox, but we shall definitely return.

This place employs some insolent and arrogant staff. The teenage bar staff are reckless and disrespectful and management are no better. Food is usually ok but they won't be seeing me again unless I'm forced back into the pub. If you dare politely complain about disdainful service, they refuse you. Absolutely horrible people who don't care about anyone; it's all about taking your money in return for an insulting experience.

Lovely food in a very welcoming restaurant. We all chose different dishes and all were very happy with them. One had the beef and Malbec pie and raved about it. I had the sea bass fillets. They were outstanding.

My mum and I spent a lovely few hours at the Fox and would highly recommend it. The menu was compact but had something for everyone, we both tried something new to us and these dishes were also ones we've not seen anywhere else were pleasantly surprised...only disappointment was that we didn't have room for a full size desert 🤣 but both the mini puds we had with a coffee were very tasty so at least we both had the option to satisfy our sweet tooth without feeling too full 😁 The staff were lovely, helpful and friendly and the place itself is very tastefully decorated, with subtle background music making for a nice ambience. We haven't been for a few years but were not disappointed and will definitely be making a return visit ⭐

Havnt been to the fox for years due to a bad experience. we decided to go for sunday and it was on point. We had abit of a wait due to a large group came in before us so our waitress chloe organised free complimentary coffees for our table. Chloe was very tentative and knowledgeable and nothing was too much trouble. Would highly recommend and we will definitely be going back. Many thanks.

It pays to look out for offers these days. I had a wonderful fillet steak with all the trimmings and my wife was full of praise for lemon sole with brown shrimps which came free thanks to a “Treat a friend” deal !!!!

We had a lovely birthday meal with friends here on Thursday evening (18 April). Great food, wine and atmosphere. Emily looked after us really well, she was patient and understanding of our needs.

We had a lovely experience here at the Fox for my dads birthday! The food was lovey and our waiter, Lisa, was not only amazing at her job but super informative when it came to allergies and immediately put me at ease. Olivia, our other waiter, is a credit to the team and a lovely, smiley young person! Thank you for a wonderful experience!

Lunch was lovely. The pate coulis was very tasty. Chicken and mozz sandwich was well presented. Server (Lisa) was very good and professional. Decor was wonderful. My only tiny negative was that the sink tap in the ladies was very loose.
