The food and service are consistently good. Sadly the dog situation is getting worse. This time an exasperated customer was 'dog shouting' (his term) in protest. This added to the maelstrom of barking, yapping, whineing, sprawling, lungeing and lethally long leads. It was difficult to enjoy our very good lunch and have a conversation. We have owned and enjoy the company of well behaved dogs. I don't like asking for the 'discretionary' service charge to be removed but it was asking too much, after our experience, when it was already on the bill. I doubt that many of us will return again or recommend until we hear on the grapevine that this problem has been addressed in some way.

We were out for lunch for a birthday treat. Wow, this place fitted the bill. We both had scallops to start and I didn't want to take my last bite as it would mean the starter was over. My partner had the pork tomahawk chop which he told me was delicious. I am not a vegetarian, but the tart tartin of the day was tomato and goats cheese so I was sold!! Fantastic meal, and attentive staff. Totally great experience. I highly recommend this place fir a meal and can guarantee that we will be returning.

We’ve known the F&B as a really fab pub with a great atmosphere. Chose to go there for the rare meal out we can afford and were shocked at the bill. Food was ok and tasty but very ordinary with mass produced chips that were somewhat overcooked. It was £18.50 for a burger with cheese and bacon, which as I said, was tasty but absolutely nothing unusual or extraordinary about it. BUT the worst thing was that 10% compulsory service charge was added to the bill! When you look at a village pub menu you are not looking for information about compulsory service charges… or is this the way we public ate now being taken - for mugs? That ordinary burger ended up costing over £20. Since when have we Brits acquiesced to this ‘compulsory’ service charge in one of our little country pubs? We didn’t find out it was compulsory until we got home and checked the ridiculously costly bill. One assumes that bringing one’s food to the table after it has been ordered is what would be normal and expected service? Sadly we won’t be eating there again and I fear we will be not able to afford this already almost prohibitive pastime if this is the way that the country’s eating places are now going to behave… hence the inevitable slow continued demise of village pubs. Sad.

We were given a jug of iced water with lemon whilst waiting for our friends to arrive. They shared baked Camembert with pickle and lovely looking bread. We had crab on sourdough toast. Very good. Then two had the fish finger sandwiches which were very reasonably priced and looked delicious but were hard to eat without getting very messy. I had steak sandwich with chips at £14.50. Unfortunately the steak was fatty, grisly and in some parts very rare, almost raw. I couldn’t bite through it and so took it out and cut it up as best I could but even the knife wouldn’t cut through parts of it. So, unfortunately not a good experience. The bits I could eat were nice with a good flavour from the grill. Nice pub with interesting menu.

My family and I visited after walking several miles from a neighbouring village. We were hoping to get a spot of lunch but were told that as we hadn’t booked there were no tables left and the kitchen were taking no further orders. That would have been understandable if not for the fact that there was a further 25 minutes of serving time and reserved tables remained unoccupied. We stayed to have a drink outside but upon leaving which was long after serving had supposedly finished, we noticed a family who I can only assume were known to the staff that had managed to order food with no reservation. Very disappointing and we won’t be returning. There are plenty of good alternatives nearby.

Today I took my folks for lunch, I’d warned the, about the potentially steep drinks so we all opted for a large lime and soda. Now the food was really food, the set menu. But when the bill came and we were charged £2.20 for each lime and soda we felt a bit cheated! I’ve paid as little as 40 p for the same drink before now! That’s one hell of a mark-up. Pity, as the rest of the experience was very appealing.

We visited yesterday and were a party of 9, the table had been booked so we weren’t what you’d call walk-ins. We were greeted by a lady who seemed a little stressed but pointed to our table and said she’d be with us shortly. After a few seconds of looking at the menu she came over and took some off of us as she didn’t have enough to cover the remaining tables so we had to share (which wasn’t a problem but that lead to us taking longer as we had to pass the reaming menus around the table) she then reappeared to inform us that some dishes from the menu were limited, so again, it took a little longer whilst a few of the party changed their minds. After taking our drinks order (which we received promoptly) she took our food order that went swiftly and easily. The food itself was good - we had a variety of dishes between us and there was not one complaint about anything food related. After finishing our meals and having coffee a member of the party asked for the tab and (as each member were paying for themselves) another member went up to pay for their share but was quite rudley asked why we hadn’t told her we were all paying separately and when told we weren’t aware that it would be a problem and why she hadn’t asked us (as apparently it would have been easier to pay in whole) she went to another customer and took their drinks order leaving the party stood there trying to work out what the issue was. Eventually the bill was settled with everyone paying their own share..

My family and I recently had dinner here as it is local to us and we have always loved the food on offer. This particular evening again we had excellent food and I should point out that the food offering has always been of a consistently high quality as it was again so my credit is to the chef for well thought out and a good menu. However the front of house service let the whole experience down so badly we almost left. Arriving for our booked table well on time we then had to wait at the bar being totally overlooked by the staff who for whatever reason were in and out with no apparent reason, a simple ‘Hight there il be with you shortly’ is usually what you expect and is the professional sentiment. Shown to our table then literally left to our own devices as nobody bothered to ask if we would like to see a wine list, drink or anything whatsoever. We had to go up to the bar for this and even after the food arrived we were left without checking if we needed anything else even though our drinks were nearing the end and a simple question of would we like refreshing again is what I would expect. Empty plates on the table for an age and with no sign of a dessert offering we decided to pay and leave. Oh and this prompted the most rude and arrogant sentence from a lady on the bar which my wife and I found utterly disgusting. Being used to eating out many times a week and in various eateries I can honestly say this is by far the most atrocious service I’ve ever encountered and you should be ashamed of yourselves as the food was excellent.

LOCATION: Littleton Ln, Bath BA2 8NR. Both the Pub and the Barrow are well worth the visit with the Pub offering a friendly and local atmosphere with god food and good local beers..

Super reception from front of house (owner/manager?) lunch time, good menu and all the meals presented looked well cooked, well presented and well received. We only had a light lunch (omelettes, very well cooked, and I am fussy about them). Had been there once before but did notice a change in attitude (pleasing). Lovely country pub and well worth going out of your way for a visit, super olde inn. Well done.

Dropped in to meet a friend for lunch midweek and the place was busy with walkers and dogs - great! Antonia was really friendly, looking after everything front of house and the homemade burgers were excellent. Didnt notice any change of ownership impact from previous visits - all exactly the same.

Now under new management, and it shows! Beer good, food excellent. The new owners are trying hard. I had the special for lunch, which was pan-fried hake - lovely. My colleague had the lamb - excellent quality meat nicely cooked. Had puds too - the sticky toffee pudding was one of the best I have ever had. Highly recommended.

This was a convenient stop for lunch. We were cycling through on the way to Devizes from Wells. We got there just before 2 pm on a Tuesday when they stopped taking orders. I had a half of the Otter, Mrs P had an orange juice and lemonade. I ordered the burger and chips (what could go wrong) and Mrs P had a lovely lime chicken salad. It came promptly. The bar staff couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful. They brought us a jug of chilled water to help us 'rehydrate' on a very warm summer's day. The food was tasty. And did the job. We weren't after high-end cuisine. We wanted value for money, cycling fuel which tasted flavoursome! We got our money's worth.

We booked The Fox & Badger for my parents Golden Wedding anniversary, there were 10 of us in the party. We pre-ordered our choices before arriving, The pub is easy to find and really welcoming when you first walk in. We were shown to our table the surroundings were comfortable, the service was friendly and efficient throughout our visit. The food was exceptional, we had a variety of starters, the grilled sardines and smoked chicken were highlights. The main courses were equally as good, pork tenderloin, rump steak and the free range chicken were all enjoyed greatly. As for the size of the yolks on the duck eggs, they have to be seen to be believed. A great evening was had by all, the price was fair for the quality of the food and great service. The Fox & Badger was so good we asked the barman for a table for Sunday lunch and went back the very next day. Treat yourself, you won't be disappointed, if i didn't live 100 miles away i would make it a regular treat. Fox & Badger thank you for a great night and a very enjoyable celebration.

This little pub offers an upscale menu and the food is surprisingly good. The chef blended the ingredients together in my chicken dish that made it unbelievably good. The atmosphere was very nice, but a bit too cramped and the service was first rate. Prices were fair, food arrived promptly. Overall two thumbs way up! TIP: On the weekends you may want to consider reservations and the place appears to fill up pretty quickly at dinnertime. There is also a small outdoor eating area, although when we were there, it was occupied by some boisterous locals, so we chose to eat inside.

Was on a walk that took me through Wellow, passing the Fox & Badger. Out of curiosity I looked at their menu displayed in the window. So many interesting dishes and after a quick check on TripAdvisor decided I couldn't miss this opportunity to try their food. The friendliness and cosy atmosphere was a good omen and as it turned out well founded. Decided on the twice baked red pepper and feta souffle. Apart from the accompanying grilled courgette it also came with some large asparagus & slow cooked tomatoes - not mentioned on the menu. It was well presented, tasty and light in texture - just right for a sunny day. Will certainly feature in my places to revisit when I'm walking in the area again - with this pub as an incentive that likely to be sooner rather than later.

The Fox and Badger is a friendly pub in a beautiful village, perfect decor and delicious food. We were there for lunch, so can't vouch for the dinner menu but I'm sure it was as good. Shall certainly visit again.

We have visited regularly for years and this place is going from strength to strength. The menu is a winner with local fresh produce and ideal country pub fayre along with a good range of cloudy ciders and real ales. There is always a good range of specials and always a fresh fish dish. Hats off to the chef who cooks everything perfectly, the steaks are getting better and better. The place itself a cosy, rustic country pub style and can get busy at times and booking a table is advised if you want to eat in the main pub area, although there is a smart and cosy dining room to the rear to cope with over flow. However, the busy evenings just add to the ambiance and atmoshere. Theres a fantastic buzz especially Friday evenings and Sunday afternoons. We just love it here, whether its a warm summers evening or a cosy winter night in front of the log burner. Children and well behaved dogs loll around amongst the hunter wellies in the earlier hours making it a truly family affair and again adds to the ambience. If you want to travel out and around from Bath then this is definitely recommended.

My wife and I called in for Sunday lunch and both had the chicken which was really lovely. The meal came hot and was very tasty. It's cooked fresh so you may have to wait a little while. I thought it was a little pricey at £13.50 but not disappointed with the meal.

We arrived at the end of a walk, very wet, to a nice fire blazing. It was a Tuesday lunchtime and the place was quite busy.We had a simple lunch of a pate, soup, plus 2 very large glasses of wine, which came to £25. So mid price. The pub itself is very traditional and comfortable. The Barman is very friendly and jolly, but seems to be the Barman, the waiter and anything else needed, I presume because it was a Tuesday lunchtime.Menu is limited.Lovely traditional English village pub.

We were looking for somewhere to have lunch. Myself, wife, daughter, and 20 month granddaughter, plus two dogs. First off we were all made very welcome, and then enjoyed a lovely lunch. My daughter had a great Sea Bass, my wife an excellent "pie of the day" and myself a lamb plus suet pudding with kidneys. The beer was good too but I forget the name. Butterworth? Very very tasty. Definitely to be recommended.

This pub is situated in a beautiful village just outside bath but unfortunately, did not meet expectations. I feel the menu was a little limited but it was certainly unique. I ordered the blade of beef but feel the flavours were balanced the wrong way around - the beef lacked flavour and the mash was over powering. It was very busy and the barman could've done with an extra pair of hands. On the plus side, the atmosphere was great and everyone was so friendly, I think with some tweaking this place could be a real gem.

Okay, our fault - we decided to chance this place because we fancied an old country pub although website still under construction so no idea what expect from menu. Bit too hunting, shooting, fishing and foie gras for our liking but hey, that's just us. Managed to squeeze us in for lunch but despite wood burner, very cold in the building. Lone barman trying to cope with drink and food orders, cleaning/waiting tables and more. Ordered an omelette but still no chips after ten minutes - gracious apologies but eventually yukky frozen ones arrived. Lovely, reasonably priced wine and beer. Wish you all the very best for the future and I'm sure this will be a great pub for locals and tourists alike once teething problems have been sorted.

This place is famous for its views across the Solent, but only in the summer. In the winter the windows are always steamed up giving you near to no visibility outside. We didn’t eat but the menu looks good and average prices for the area. Drinks were more expensive than the Seaview Hotel just around the corner. +£1 per drink on gin & tonic. It was November on a Friday evening and all tables were reserved. We did sit at one of their best tables for our drink ‘Captain Ted’s Table’ and it was wobbly as hell. Felt like it was going to give way at any time. Come on this is an easy fix.

Nice busy cafe, lots going on with a lot of choice to make your own baguette. Popular with the locals for lunch who fancy an upgrade from a morrisons meal deal.

We have been here many times over the years and looked forward to our visit again this year. What a disappointment. We had a cream tea which consisted of a pot of tea, 2 scones, butter, cream and jam. The jam and cream pots were half the size they used to be and the butter was barely there, adequate enough for one scone but certainly not two. The jug of milk supplied did not have enough milk for one cup of tea and we had to ask for extra. I do not drink tea and asked for my tea to be substituted with coffee, big mistake, it was undrinkable. Went we went to pay we were told 'cash only' and I was lucky to find some cash in the bottom of my bag. This should be made clear when you enter and before you order as a lot of people do not carry cash. Our experience was so different to every other visit we wondered if there were 'new owners' but overheard the owner telling other visitors that she had been there 17 years. Sadly will not be returning.

Remember coming to this pub with my family when I was ten so had to come back 40 odd years later. Disappointed the coffin by the door was gone 😂 but it was a real highlight of our trip. Our dogs were welcomed and fussed over and the food at lunch was amazing, so tasty. Really friendly staff and all the facilities were spotless. Fantastic views over the garden too. A lovely trip down memory lane
