I had the worst dish I have ever had from a Chinese restaurant. Chicken with ginger & spring onion. The chicken was white consistent with being boiled. The spring onions were large white slices resembling an onion The green of the ‘spring onion’ was inedible and chewy. Huge slices of ginger all in a grey coloured great broth. The dish was anaemic in colour and resembled a school dinner when we still had dinner ladies. Truly horrible. Never again. Waste of time and money.Not surprised it was almost empty on a Saturday night

Delicious food, excellent service, most enjoyable. The vegetable noodles are by far the best in town. The chilli beef is delicious too.

We have been there many times and always enjoyed the restaurant - food and service. However not sure what has happened, the service was just poor in the last trip . Staff were not trained on how to serve and just milling around looking lost. What happened??! Very disappointing, luckily the food was fine .

The good bits, cocktails good but sadly food was not. Soup was watery, duck with pancakes not only cold but pre cooked and sliced, bone dry, absolutely awful. Paid extra for sizzling steak dish, it came up flat and swimming in gravy, sent it back. Chicken in black bean sauce was just full of chilli, on ordering we asked how spicy it was, told very mild, not one of us at the table could eat this dish. Waited 15 minutes after all the mains were delivered for chicken chow mein, it was dry, hardly any chicken pieces, just a few scattered pieces that had been cooked and reheated. So disappointed, we used to eat here often but sadly wouldn’t return. Over a £110 a couple, had to have toast when we got home.

Very loud parties and you can’t hear yourself think, the food was average and overpriced for what it was. When complained they said there was nothing they could do. 2 tables were moved due to noise levels! Will not be returning

This spot is terrible staff are slow . Food had a fly and hair in the mains . The prawn crackers had ants all over them. Way over priced better off going Wagamama

Good Chinese. we had the chilli chicken, gung bao chicken, prawn, ginger and spring onion, two fried rice, spicy beans, prawn crackers. All for £65. Delivered at home: very very tasty.

Used to go here a lot pre-covid. After last night’s experience, never again. While I can forgive the usual non-welcome welcome (a brusque “Can I help you?”) at a resto like this, what followed was a real letdown. Firstly, what the heck is with the ‘tick your order’ on the paper menu thing? For 12.5% service charge they might just try to pretend it’s still a full-service restaurant, not some naff takeaway. Before you think it’s a covid thing, I suspect the biro has been in a hundred hands! While we were looking at the menu it felt like we were being circled by lions. Five wait staff padding the circuit. Hard to tell if any seniority amongst them. Asked on four occasions if we were ready to order. Food actually OK, maybe 7/10, but small portions (as they always were). But £3 for SEVEN prawn crackers a complete rip-off. Plates removed within seconds of laying our chopsticks down. Asked if we wanted dessert by three different waiters. Asked for bill, paid and left without so much as a ‘thanks’ or ‘bye’. Wish I’d removed the service charge. Rude and unwelcoming. Choose somewhere else if you care are service.

It has gone downhill since our last visit, food was ok but lacked the sophistication of the past. Strong smell of damp at the back, tables at the front didn’t have any issue. Service rushed and disjointed.

Singapore noodles and lamb dishes were too salty. Didn’t feel the restaurant really cared. Prefer fresh better quality food.

The Four Regions used to be the BEST Chinese restaurant. However since their refurb they have ruined any reputation they had. Absolutely shocking, like going into a poor fast food place. So sad what has happened and will never return.

The Four Regions Chinese restaurant has lots of vegan options on its menu. We had Crispy Mock Duck and Dry Chili Mock Chicken, salt and pepper tofu, and vegan dumplings. Everything was delicious.

It's such a shame. Second time my friend and I went as it was so good the first time. We sat in a couple days ago and we ordered the vegastable dumplings. Our whole order was vegan, so it was clear we did not eat meat or dairy. When the arrived, my friend took a bite and realised she was chewing pork. Thankfully she spat it out but wow, Highly offensive as we are both vegan and for ethical reasons! Wasn't much empathy or understanding to a long term vegan (6 years) whos just unwillingly eaten an animal. Just a couple 'customer service sorry's' and an awkward smile.Very disappointing, disgusting. Had the audacity to keep the service charge on the bill after that! Lovely restaurant, great vegan options too- vegan tempura veg and mock duck pancakes beautiful. Only negative comment I would say is more plum sauce needed on the duck and plum sauce dish as my partner stated it was quite dry.

We love a chinese and this is up there with the best! We usually go to the one in teddington but fancied trying something new. We loved the vibe of this restaurant, the interior is fabulous and the music playing was good. It had more of a date feel than our usual. Staff were attentive and polite. The starters were incredible, highly recommend the smoked shredded chicken! Then we had a quarter duck which was delicious too. We were quite full by this time so had chicken chow mein and crispy chilli beef for mains, both of which were fantastic. Our new fave... we will be back!

Best dim sum and Chinese food I’ve ever tasted.I have been eating Dim Sum for over 40 years and this is the best. We have been to the Four Regions as a family on a number of occasions now. One of our children is particularly keen on Chinese food and the other likes a good curry and so this is one fo the few restaurants around Richmond that covers both options, although the choice of curries is limited. Overall the food is good, as is the service. It is always busy, which shows that a wide range of people enjoy the restaurant too!

Food is hot and spicy enough. Portions could be a bit bigger. Its a good location as near enough Richmond, and one of the entrances to Kew Gardens.

We live a short walk from 4 Regions and have been eating there since we moved here 26 years ago. Our children were classmates of the children of the proprietors, and I had my 60th birthday party there. But shortly after that delightful meal, the restaurant closed for redecoration, and the new look didn't suit us. Worse yet, there was now a cocktail bar and karaoke -- we were no longer the target audience. Worst of all, the kitchen staff had moved on during the closure, and the food was no longer the same, and nowhere near as good. We gave our old favourite a couple of chances, and then began dining elsewhere.

I have been going to this gem for over 20 years and have never been disappointed. This is not fine dining but it is perfect for family dining and meeting my regular need for a good Chinese meal. Crispy fried vegetable noodles and chilli prawns are delicious and the chicken with black beans or cashews are family favourites. The recent edition of a comprehensive dim sum menu is most welcome. Excellent value for money. Highly recommend.

Since 1994 for me this has been the best Chinese restaurant in Richmond. Sadly I can say that standards have gone down terribly. Often enjoying an evening meal here, and takeaways, the last one of which was pretty tasteless, decided to give it another go again tonight. Nothing has changed, chicken satay dish tasted exactly the same as the the chicken with black bean sauce. Dumplings were inedible and accompanying sauce was actually revolting. I don’t know what has happened, but definitely this restaurant has lost my custom.

We have been going to this restaurant since 1992. Has had few change of names and moved few doors. Over last few years we find it a big hit and miss. On my son’s birthday celebrations in April, party of 8 of us went, the food was a huge let down. More recently I took my brother 3 weeks ago and the staff were all under 30/35. We were kept waiting ages between courses, 45 minutes, the food arrived stone cold. This is pricy place. To receive such unsatisfying food more frequently then not, we have decided to give this Chinese restaurant a miss in future.

Fabulous - old style delish chinese chow - charmingly served and masses of it - we love it there - highly recommend it.

Having had a bad experience in Aug'18 where the staff clearly didn't understand the seriousness of adjustments for a customer with a nut allergy we went back for a birthday meal on 4 June. This time I approached the manager before we ordered and explained that we had been very concerned on our last visit and requested that his staff took every precaution around nuts so that we could relax and enjoy the food and the occasion. He couldn't be more charming and accommodating and on his own initiative changed items on the set menu to accommodate our requirements. The Peking duck was especially good, tender and moist but with crispy skin, just right! Thank you for demonstrating that you do care about your customers' welfare and meal experience. Much appreciated!

In my experience, there are few more ghastly culinary experiences than horrid Chinese food. So it’s a real treat to find a restaurant that serves really lovely food - as it should be cooked.

Sunday Lunch... Chinese it is... very delicious food and nice atmosphere... Good service as well. Quite accommodating with kids... Can definitely recommend and wouldn’t mind going back again. Nice drinks options.

Living in close proximity, we often go to the Four regions restaurant and have always found it to be a lovely, tasty and enjoyable experience. Friendly and courteous staff; clean and relaxing surroundings; a varied selection of tasty, well-cooked food; great with children (our boys 9&11 years love the crispy duck). Would highly recommend to anyone who enjoys Chinese food.

I'm not a lover of Chinese food, however my friend fancied it so we picked this place. The restaurant in the inside is lovely. The manager (I'm guessing he was) was really friendly and welcoming. We were seated and within seconds asked to order, we hadn't even looked at the menu. This happened a few times so as we felt rushed we just went for the set menu. The starters were very average nothing special. The duck was good slightly dry but enjoyable. Mains were just ok. Service on the whole was rushed. Friendly enough. Food was average. Not sure I'll rush back.

Not too impressed the portions were very small and prices very expensive but service was very nice. I won’t be returning sorry

We had been looking for a good Asian restaurant in Richmond/Kew area for a while and finally found one.

The service was inattentive, disinterested and slow (they were slow taking orders, they brought us the wrong dish, they kept clearing plates as we were eating, including plates that still had plenty of food on them etc...). We also overheard the table next to us complaining about service. The food was average. Won’t be coming back!

If you enjoy Chinese food, then this is the place. It has, as the name suggests, food from different regions of China so pleasing various palates.

Ignore the few carping criticisms below which absolutely do not reflect our experience here, which is why we have gone back.

Eight of us went for a casual dinner and had a wonderful time with delicious food and prompt service. Would happily come back for great quality Chinese cuisine.

We visited for my birthday last week. The restaurant décor is very nice. We were the only diners at 7.00 but there were more shortly afterwards. The food was very good. My only criticism is that the staff are not over friendly. On leaving we were totally ignored a thank you or even just coming to the door would have been nice and left a more memorable touch after all this is not a cheap restaurant.

Bad Service, cheap wine glass broke and they wanted us to eat the dessert with glass in it! Lobster had no meat in it. Dirty plates.

Visited here for lunch with a friend. One of the best Chinese Restaurants I've been to. The Dim sum were delicious as was everything else.

As a local resident we have been using the Four Regions sporadically for many years. I am sorry to say that over time the service, food and cleanliness has declined steeply, to the point that we begrudgingly go there when we want Chinese owing to limited quality options in the area. On the flip side the price of the dining experience does not reflect this. The last time we went will be the final.

The Four Regions provides everything one might reasonably wish for of a Chinese restaurant situated outside of China Town or the Central London.

Its a nicely laid out restaurant, with an extensive menu. Everything we ate was delicious. It is a a little pricey, but the food is good. However the staff let it down a little, disappeared quite a bit and were a bit grumpy when serving us.

Popped in on spec on a cheeky day off and tempted by the set price lunch menu, £7 odd for a starter and main course. We both had soup which was a good choice and the main courses were the standard offerings but very well served with the steamed vegetables being a real treat. Both came with a correct sized serving of steamed rice. All in all a very good option for lunch. We both had a cocktail each which were really quite nice, but with Rock and Rose next door not a reason to visit the restaurant.

I've been coming here on and off for many years, and went there last Friday - the food was actually better than I remembered; decor is much improved since recent refurb (now more intimately lit); and staff are ever-friendly!

When we arrived there was only one other table occupied and the thought run through my mind that it was boycotted, oh wow the food was delicious and my only niggle the hot and sour soup could have been a bit hotter, the staff were good as well as the surroundings

I was keen to try a different Chinese restaurant as have always been going to Imperial China inTeddington, which is great by the way. So on my birthday we went to Four Regions instead. I cannot describe my disappoint about the dimsum. First lack of choice e.g because only could have veggie spring rolls and the quality of the dimsum we did have was poor. We're convinced they were cooked from frozen out of a packet they were such bad quality. The main dishes were better but still not great. The noodles were dry and bland. My husband and I have been having bad food memories for the past week now. And the meal definitely wasn't cheap. We're just going to stick to Imperial China from now on!

The food was pretty good, especially the starters - salt and pepper ribs, dim-sum, crispy duck and prawn tempura. I'm not sure why the latter is in a Chinese restaurant, but it was good, so i forgive them! Very mean portions of prawn crackers - 3 or 4 per little bowl.

We had been looking forward to a good Chinese meal. We were so disappointed. The service was absolutely terrible - we couldn't get anyones attention just to ask for water, and asked three times for to get prawn crackers. We waited about half an hour for the starters, but the pits was waiting for an hour for our second course. Everyone who came in after us had been served before us. We were ravenous and apparently according to the manager someone else had been served our food! Would not go again and despite the fact they discounted all our food, it ruined our evening and would not recommend.

Great ambience! Great food both Veg and Non Veg. Great selection and choice for both. It's quite a large space ample tables, staff are friendly and helpful. We found parking out side. Definitley would recommend this restaurant for Chinese

Haven’t been here for a few years but I remembered as it as serving excellent Chinese food. Alas this is no longer guaranteed. Some dishes tasted freshly cooked & delicious eg sesame prawns & Singapore noodles while others were dried out & reheated. The crispy duck pancakes were particularly dry & disappointing. We also requested a glass of prosecco which was flat. They were happy to replace it with a fresh one, but I felt their standards had definitely slipped.

Went here for a date which thankfully meant the company was excellent. On the plus side for the restaurant, the food is excellent t. Very high quality. On a par with the Good Earth in Esher I’d say. The decor is pleasant and a little bit different.

I visited Four Regions at 7.30 tonight with a friend I hadn't seen for a while. We were seated quickly and were given our drinks promptly but after this the service was terrible. It took 30mins for them to take our starter order after we repeatedly asked for someone to serve us. Once the order was taken we had to wait another 40mins for them to arrive at the table after having to chase them 3 times as to how long it would be. The mains then arrived around 9.25 and I had 30 mins before I had to leave. Then to top it off they added service to the bill of 12.5%. This experience took all the pleasure out of the meal and I couldn't enjoy the food as I had to leave quickly after the mains arrived. I have eaten here many times before but this was the worst service I have received at a restaurant in a long time and won't be going back anytime soon.

We have visited this restaurant many times over the years, but recently were very disappointed. The food is good as it should be at this price range, but the service was seriously lacking. There were only 4-5 tables and 3 waiting staff, but we waited a considerable time to order and be served each course. We were there over 2 hrs. The serious issue was that despite explaining carefully that my daughter has a serious nut allergy the waitress was only willing to swop out one dish in the preset menu, and so I asked for the chicken satay to be served on a separate plate to avoid cross contamination, and for the chef to be advised about the allergy. The starters arrived together on one platter and peanuts had been scattered over the seaweed which meant I had to approach another waitress and reinforce my requests. This restaurant has excellent potential with its location, decor and food. The 2 restaurants next door were very busy. This one wasn't. Give your staff some training!

Four Regions is located on Kew Road and is around a 5-10 minute walk from Richmond station.

We have been to this restaurant before and have always found it served a very good Chinese menu. We were a large group and the staff still managed to serve us all in good time. The food was really enjoyable, in particular the tempura prawns and vegetables, all very fresh. The salt and pepper prawns were excellent, as was the crispy beef. They had the doors open so it felt very cool and comfortable. We will definitely go back.

We decided to visit this restaurant after spending a wonderful day in Kew Gardens and decided Chinese would be a good choice. However we were disappointed as the food was like warm and arrived in stages.
