You have to keep an eye out for this venue, as it would be easy to miss as you drive past. However, on entering, you are given a very warm welcome and the inside is spotless (including the disabled toilet). I had an eggs benedict and my friend had a breakfast bap - we had not booked in advance but at 11.15am on a Friday there were tables available, although a number of tables were already reserved. The food came quickly and was hot and tasty. The menu was not extensive but certainly adequate for most people. There is a garden at the rear which, once the plants have grown up a bit, looks like it would be very appealing. Overall much better than anticipated and we will definitely be returning.

A friend and I visited 4 Candles today. Iwasn't really sure what to expect. Some little cafes, the food isn't that good and the cakes are just prepacked. Well this place is totally not that, far from it. I walked in and we were greeted and seated. The ladies were very accommodating, they were really attentive and lovely. We had a hot chocolate to start which was great, I had a green tea as well which was very nice. The food was beautiful. I had a burger off the 2 for £15.95 menu. My friend had the same. It was worth every penny! Thank you for a lovely time having a catch up with my friend and some great food.

As I was brought up watching the Two Ronnie how could I not, just once, visit a cafe called Four Candles -it didn’t disappoint! Good variety to chose from, menu & specials; sausage ciabatta withe onion chutney was excellent as was the Eggs Benedict. Toilet facilities catered for every need & worth a visit, if only to appreciate the artwork! We were well looked after by staff, warm welcome & they knew all about what was on offer. Reasonably priced and Well worth a visit.

We were driving past here today and were lucky enough to get a table for two at 12.30, there was a good varied menu and fro it my husband chose the beef burger with bacon and chips along with a coffee. I had the dirty fries with pulled pork and cheese also had a late coffee. My husband said it was the best beef burger he’d ever had (high praise indeed) my dirty fries were scrumptious. Maybe my expectations were too high but we were quite disappointed overall with our afternoon tea. If I see afternoon tea advertised at £15 then I expect to pay £15 and have a good afternoon tea without having to pay any extra. However, the afternoon tea did not include bottomless tea. We felt that we had to buy an extra cold drink so that we could enjoy a drink right through the meal. This added approx £3 each to the total. I'm not a big fan of fruit scones and I think a plain scone should also have been an option. The fruit scones were quite nice though and very big. The problem with the large scones was the tiny portions of jam and and cream which accompanied it.The sandwiches were fresh but basic with not a great deal of filling. The sausage rolls were ok but the quiche was rather floppy. The rest of the cakes were ok apart but the lemon one didn't taste too fresh. The Bakewell tarts would have been better as small individual ones rather than a larger one cut in half. The fruit garnish (4 blueberries and 1 strawberry dotted about the top place) would have been lovely had the strawberry been red rather than under-ripe and white. To be fair, the place had a nice feel about it and the service was ok. I think the hand gel should be in a much more obvious place. We didn't even see it until we sat down so it was a good job we had our own. I don't mind paying more for a good afternoon tea but this be was just mediocre.

We arranged and attended Four Candles for a family lunch on Saturday 26th September 2020, when we arrived everything was extremely organised and safe - you scan the code for the NHS track and trace and wait outside until seated - the rest of the party was there so we joined the table, menus were given to us.We ordered 5 teas and 1 coke, when the teas came we was given 2 dishes with sugars on which we had a grand total of 4 brown, 4 white and 4 sweeteners - now we could all appreciate these are probably made ready to reduce touching and convenience HOWEVER 4 brown sugars no one even had a coffee and 4 white sugars that wasn’t even enough for 1 each for our drinks, I did ask for some more sugar for our teas (I got up with my mask on and asked) which we was given another 4 white ... how generous!!! Heaven forbid we actually wanted another cup of tea out our pot we would have been in the same situation with not enough to go around. We was given 1 jug of milk that was half filled again I asked if we could have some more because it got round 3 of the 5 people, we was apologised to and told they was waiting for the milk delivery ... now I’m no expert but your practically next door to a shop that I would guess sells milk? Perhaps send someone out to buy a couple cartons to get you through until the delivery? Anyway we got on with it hardly a huge issue some milk and a couple sugars... Our food was lovely in all fairness and well presented, when plates were cleaned away we was asked if we would like any cakes to which one of our party said yes please could you tell me what you have, with that she huffed a bit and routed round for a piece a paper obviously with the cakes of the day on, my brother in law did offer if easier to get up to go have a look which he was told very sharply we aren’t allowed to get up ... wow okay!! We all arrived with masks, when I got up to ask for more sugar and milk I had my mask on, we had our own hand sanitiser on the table out also - I appreciate you wouldn’t know but my brother in law is a paramedic and his wife (my sister) is a nurse, my mum works in a school so we are all fully fully aware of what is occurring in the world and not trying to break any rules and all been key workers throughout, and also myself who worked all through the lockdown and then had a baby and on maternity leave at present ... we are a pretty safe table - I’m not going to put my 3 month old baby at any type of risk!!! I think a polite ‘I’m really sorry but unfortunately your now allowed to go and take a look’ ...After finishing our cake, we was all chatting then the waitress came across and asked if we wanted the bill which completely cut off our table conversation ... not sure if you wanted the table back? We’d been an hour and 5 minutes when we checked our phones and was told the table was for 2 hours... I don’t think we looked ready for the bill? Felt a little pushed out after that so we paid and left as presumed you must of needed the table back as we certainly wasn’t giving the luck of wanting the bill and we was quite happy chatting - the waitress did express she wasn’t trying to rush us but have to admit by that point we was just ready to go...The New owners did say goodbye to us as we left which was a nice finish. Overall would say food was lovely and drinks just customer service really - the blonde waitress was lovely and a pleasure and we have been served by her previously when it was the old owners, it was unfortunately the brunette one that we’ve never come across before that wasn’t our favourite just felt very rushed and I don’t think we was asking for a lot by wanting at least 1 sugar each (more would have been nice as the pot does make 2 good cups of tea) and a full milk jug. Maybe We will return in the future as may be the new staff just still getting the hang of everything and with COVID just adding the extra pressure? We go the Four Candles a lot or did before the lockdown and never ever had an issue before and never complained so would be a shame for it to start now with the new owners. Hopefully with a bit more training on customer service it can be great!!

Having just returned home from our lunch date, I can report that we were exceptionally pleased with every aspect of our visit. All of the staff were lovely & friendly....and I can give no higher praise than to say we left not so much as a crumb on our plates ! It was brilliant value for £15 each (including a couple of coffees each) & we were determined not to be wimps & ask for a doggie bag, despite the portions being very generous (just call us greedy !) Pleasant staff and good service. They do get busy in here so maybe you might have to ask them for a refill before they get chance to ask you but that’s pretty much an everyday occurrence in places where you eat. Not sure why people say it’s expensive either- you get what you pay for and it’s worth every penny. You can get freshly cooked breakfast here cheaper than a fast food outlet such as Macdonalds! Maybe it’s me, but I can’t find a fault with this place. Staff are always pleased to help, good coffee at good prices. Food is fresh and well prepared (and same price as a lot of places surrounding here) it’s great to have something of this standard close to home with the option of being healthy too (they don’t force you to take the cheesecake with you.. it just kind of happens)

Lovelyfriendly greeting and given our table. It is best to book as it gets very busy and we were lucky to go at the time we did. I had a toasted sarnie and hubby had a panini. Both were lovely and hot, salad was good too, not too much. Coffee was great and the cake ...... well I had chocolate, out of this world. Hubby had the crunchie bar cheesecake and that was sublime. This place is a gem. The staff are fab. See you again soon.

This was our 2nd visit for breakfast and as before it did not disappoint. We grade our breakfast on how good the sausages are. And these were yummy. Will be back again in a few months time. Well worth a visit, friendly staff.

Visited for cake and a cuppa with a friend and as ever the place was excellent. Lovely welcoming staff and a great choice of top quality food makes Four Candles very popular so if you want to be sure of a table you can reserve. An absolute pleasure.

Visited today with a friend for lunch, we didn’t book but we managed to get a table. It got very busy around 1pm which is a good sign... I had the sausage cheese and caramelised onion panini and it was delicious!! Service was very friendly and quick even though the girls were rushed off their feet, would definitely recommend!!!

Visited with a group of family and friends, we had all been before. On this occasion we were very disappointed, the service was terrible, with staff to busy laughing and chatting in the kitchen to worry about serving us. On several occasions we had to go to the kitchen door to ask for more coffee etc. Some of the sandwiches were very dry and the quiche was mostly pastry. Not at all what we’d come to expect of the four candles. Won’t be going back in a hurry.

My wife and I are regular attenders at the Four Candles. The cakes, home made are excellent, but not good fr those on diets!! They will put on weight, but they are delicious. There is a good choice of coffees as well as fruit teas. The staff are excellent, friendly, caring and make sure the customer is cared for and receives the attention they need. Thee café is spotlessly clean and tables are cleaned after every customer leaves. when one enters the premises have a warm and friendly atmosphere which spreads through all wh enter. Well done.

We visited here for breakfast after a very busy morning packing up our tent to go home after a stay at a nearby campsite (extra points for being dog friendly!). All very hungry there were plenty of options to choose from and even the option to build your own breakfast which was great for my daughter who wouldn’t eat a full breakfast but would still like certain items! The staff were lovely, the service was quick and the food was delicious! Extra shoutout to the iced latte and the big buts breakfast. It was amazing! We will definitely be returning when we are back in Anderby. Thank you!

Spotted from the car park and decided to stop for a coffee. There was some seating outside so perfect for anyone with dogs. It was a beautiful spring day so we also decided to have some cakes and a cheese scone. I have to say the cakes were fab and the cheese scone was the best I have ever had. Can’t wait to visit again. Highly recommended.

After having had a fantastic experience here midweek during the summer, we promised ourselves we would be back for Sunday dinner. We booked by email, which was confirmed within minutes, Howe when we arrived there was no record of the booking. I was able to find the confirmation email. We were told that we could be accommodated but it would have to be in the bar area as there were 3 other bookings which already had restaurant tables reserved. We were advised to pick a table and they would set it up for us. We showed them where we would like to sit and waited for someone to bring some seating to the table. After 10 minutes we were still standing so found a different table which had seats in place. (We had already informed them that my husband was recovering from a broken ankle) Eventually the waitress came and gave us cutlery and placemats but no salt and pepper. She took our meat orders and I asked whether the veg would include cauliflower cheese, as I would like to not have it, as I have an allergy/intolerance. We waited a further half an hour for our meals, which came with the vegetables served on a tray, including the cauliflower cheese. There was only one spoon which was resting in the cheese sauce so I had to request another one. I then dished myself up a spoonful of swede/carrot mash and one broccoli floret. I did try to dish up some cabbage but found that when lifted from the plate, the cabbage came out from under the cauliflower cheese and covered in the sauce, so I had to not have cabbage. After the meal, the waitress came to clear the table. She dropped some vegetables on the tablecloth and asked if we wanted puddings to which I responded yes. After waiting for 38 minutes with no sign of the waitress to clean the table or take our pudding order, we decided to leave. On taking our payment the bar staff asked if everything had been ok, so I mentioned the above. He simply said, ‘sorry about that ‘but the mains were ok?’ I chose not to continue with the conversation, as my husband had overheard the barman say that he was going to rip someone’s head off. We are really disappointed as we had been telling everyone about how good our experience in the summer was. To top it all, there was a very large dog in the area which smelled strongly and a group of young children also came and used the pool table right next to us, despite there being a notice advising that nobody under 16 was allowed to use it. Another customer did point it out but was ignored. One or two little things we could have overlooked/forgiven but unfortunately there were too many today and we won’t be back

An unassuming little place that offers a friendly welcome and excellent, attentive service. It's got a cosy, slightly bio/eco feeling with very interesting plants and an insect hotel outside the door. Menu is limited but more than adequate for a light lunch or afternoon tea. Nice music playing unobtrusively in the background too. A really great touch is their bottomless cup for tea or coffee. Blink and you'll miss this place as you drive along the busy and fast A52 between Boston and Skegness. It's on a cross-roads just after the main Friskney village turn-off travelling NE. But DON'T miss it because it really is a worthwhile pit-stop. Opposite, down the lane towards the Wash, there is some brilliant wild walking.
