Wonderful. I put a review on Google, but for those here - you must pay Dawn and her staff a visit. The food, service, ambience is excellent and very good value for money. Plus, even if you haven't a sweet tooth, the cakes & scones are heavenly - writing this my mouth is watering 💖👍👍👍👍👍

Lovely breakfast and super staff in a great setting. The full English and the eggs on toast were really tasty and perfectly cooked. The bread was a real fresh treat. Recommended place to stop off in East Bergholt.

We have visited The Fountain Restaurant twice in a month. First visit as a party of 6 adults, and the second visit, as a party of 4 with my 2 grand children. On both occasions we had excellent, fresh, home made food with wonderful, friendly and helpful service. The owner even went out of her way to ensure my granddaughter, who suffers from coeliac disease, was given a choice of tasty gluten free meals and cakes. We will definitely make any excuse to visit East Bergholt so we can sample the food here again.

We visited the Tea Room on a sunny winter afternoon. The seating was a bit tight, but the window seats were pleasant. The cakes were excellently home-baked. Both tea and coffee were good. We paid £20 for four, which was good value for money. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience. We'll definitely return.

Happened to come across this place as we were driving around the area and, boy, are we glad we stopped for some lunch. Clean and Covid friendly. Homemade quiche with salad and coleslaw was absolutely delicious, very well presented. Lovely coffees and cakes followed. Nothing was too much trouble for the friendly lady serving. Will definitely return and thoroughly recommend.

Free parking close by & a short walk to Flatford. Definitely best stop off area to eat or have a drink/cake before or after touring the village of East Bergholt & Flatford.

Nothing pretentious about this cafe. Service a bit slow but there was an apology. A bit bare but very good value. Soups, sandwiches ,cakes. Did lattes but only basic filter coffee available. Not over strong.

We visited this tearoom mainly based on the reviews on this site. We really weren’t that impressed. Had a cheese scone which was warmed up in the microwave. I am always a bit suspicious when this is done as a freshly made scone shouldn’t really need warming - I suspect it was from the day before. It certainly didn’t taste that fresh. The coffee want that great either. I don’t think we will return

Went in at 2 pm for a coffee and cake. The place was nearly empty. We ordered our food and drink and felt the whole time we were there that the people wanted us to go as they constantly cleaned around us and started putting food away half an hour before closing. Even though lunch menus were out we were told when we went in that lunch was finished and they almost turned an old gentleman away at 3.30 because they were shutting at 4 only letting him have a drink and cake if he sat at one of the tables that hadn't been cleaned. Will take my custom to oranges and lemons in future.

I’ve visited this lovely tearoom twice recently after completing a circular walk via Flatford. Both times we had the delicious home made soup and was tempted by the lovely selection of cakes on my first visit in January. I can definitely recommend this place if you’re visiting the area. It seems to be very popular with local people and there’s artwork by local artists on display at very reasonable prices. I bought one of the paintings last week after our visit!

This is a family run business. The proprietor is a much loved local girl who personally prepares all the food with assistance from her very capable daughter, who also owns and runs the bakers shop, two doors away. The food is always fresh and served with a smile, and chat if there's time. Perfect for morning coffee, lunch or afternoon tea but closes soon after 4.00 pm in the winter, so, not suitable for dinner. This is an asset for the village, a pleasure for the visitor and a reminder of what village tea rooms were years ago!

A delightful establishment, very clean a tidy. Friendly, accommodating staff who made us feel welcome. Scrubbed pine tables and chairs but a gem of a courtyard, dappled in shade which was the ideal place for us to sit and lunch. A pot of tea, served in dainty china and a lush ham baguette with salad garnish and an egg and cress sandwich bursting with filling. All very reasonably priced, will definitely go back.

This tea-room/restaurant is quite small but is centrally placed in the popular tourist area of the Stour Valley just a mile from Flatford Mill with all its artistic associations. Indeed, a plaque only a few yards along the street indicates the birthplace of the great John Constable himself. It was quiet in the cafe this afternoon as might be expected on a Monday out of season, but I enjoyed a refreshing pot of tea and a large slice of my favourite cake, battenburg. My table was well placed for a good view of the village street. I enjoyed a peaceful half-an-hour in the calm of this relaxing place; indeed, it was like sitting in a friend's front room, even though the counter was only a few feet away with its tempting display of cakes and scones. Had I come a little earlier, I could have chosen my lunch from a range of sandwiches (cold or toasted) or quiche or a jacket potato with a selection of fillings. The service was prompt and polite without being familiar, i.e. with a professional reserve, although I'm sure regulars receive a friendly welcome. And the prices are very reasonable. Certainly, this is a place to return to....and often!

We had visited Flatford Mill and as usual the National Trust tearoom was heaving so we decided to chance our luck in the village and I'm so glad we did. Fountain House Tea Room is so lovely, despite not booking they found us a table in the pretty courtyard. We ordered lunch which was delicious and so reasonably priced, two of our party couldn't resist cake and scones which were also scrumptious. I would thoroughly recommend a visit, very family friendly and such welcoming staff.

El salón de té se siente muy hogareño y acogedor. Pero incluso si tienes prisa, no te preocupes, puedes tener la comida para llevar. La comida está muy bien de precio. Es mucho mejor que la habitación de caro té flatford cualquier día.

This is obviously a very popular place and not only that a very sociable one. Within minutes of sitting down the locals were talking to us suggesting what to have for lunch, sadly this was not to be the case as we'd partaken of a large breakfast at our hotel.Despite that the service for what we had and they had was very good and the coffee with cream was first class.

We stopped here halfway through a circular walk taking in Flatford Mill. There were a few tables with reserved signs on them so presumably were booked for lunch. Three of us managed to squeeze onto a table for two. We were there for around 30 mins and during that time several people were turned away as all tables were occupied. However we didn't see anyone turn up for the reserved tables. The prices are very reasonable and cakes and food were good.

A very pleasent Tea Room in the heart of East Bergholt. We turned up just short of closing time last Saturday to be greeted as if we were there first customers of the day. Within 10 minutes 4 more couples wondered in for an afternoon tea. The premises were well cared for and hygiene clearly a priority.I had an apricot and coconut slice with a hot chocolate while my better half had what she described as the nicest cup of Latte for a long time. ( She drinks a lot of Latte's). The apricot was certainly fresh as I could actually taste the moisture of it within the cake.Thank you Fountain House for your hospitality, we will return next time we are in Constable Country.
