The young boy that works there is ignorant and not very polite to customers He can't be bothered to to answer he looks as if he hates his job to be honest never seen him smile plus the prices are high compared with other fishshops in the area. avoid and go somewhere different bad experience every time I go there so won't be going there no more. Food is rank.

Brilliant service great food will definitely use again

Huge portions of chips but very soggy. Everything is so overpriced now. I’d try others before ever going back

Not the best fish and chips one cm thick the fish chips were scrappy and the lady serving was coughing every where sorry I said we didn't want them but had already paid two fish one chips one curry just over £18 so expensive only went here as our regular chip shop was closed Never again

My mother ordered fish and chips from here last night, worste fish she's ever had.. it was hard with no taste. She said there was lovely pieces of fish in the display but because she phoned with her order, hers was already wrapped before she'd got there. Won't be coming back here again.

Had garlic sauce on one kebab and it was like water and inedible.

Had a donner meat and chips. Food was hot when arrived. Chips were great but the donner meat was BAD. Not sure if it’s the way it’s been cooked or if it’s just cheap meat, but couldn’t recommend the donner meat

9/4/22 The large fish and chips was fresh out of the fryer it was full of flavour and a big portion and well priced. The spicy curry is the best curry we have tasted from a chippy. Only thing I don’t like about this shop is the older lady is very rude and abrupt.

Oh dear I have been hear on 2 occasions and met by the most miserable woman who serves Behind the counter. You just hope that 🙏 she is not serving Fish & chips big portions so pretty good, but heartburn 😫 soon set in 1 star 🌟 because of that woman serving.

I was recommended that I try the fish and hot curry sauce. On my way home from work I called in for a family takeaway. I was welcomed by a very friendly young lady who had outstanding customer service not just with myself but other customers. She asked me if I minded waiting for the fish to be cooked I didn’t mind that. We had a little chat while I waited for my order, and I felt very welcomed. I got home and I was shocked. The food was absolutely outstanding full of taste and great value. The fryer needs recommending as the food was cooked to perfection. It’s not often my husband comments on his tea but he even made a comment how tasteful our tea was this evening. I found our new takeaway. Thank you

Wonderful service, and beautifully cooked fresh fish. Just ask if you want your fish cooked fresh. Well worth the extra wait. Every time mum comes down to visit from Swansea, she always says shall we have fish n chips. Thank you so much. Really dissapointed last time. Wanted fish cooked fresh, they insisted it had only been done a few minutes. Very dissapointed but very impressed with the Busy Bee today. Banging. Guess I shall be going there from now on

Good portions chips cooked to perfection my go to place for fish and chips

Stopped here last night. Lady behind the counter was to concerned about going home. The chips were not good and the pie had been face planted into the chips. Absolutely no effort what so ever

My sister used to like using this chippy, but our last time the chips were covered with a something like grit, and we ended up throwing them away it was so bad, that's why it was our last meal there. Perhaps the oil needs changing more often.

Having read a few negative reviews on Google - not least about a scary / rude lady serving - we gave this a go on passing through to the Brecons. Nice food, we both had cod and chips and curry sauce. Good taste, cooked well, hot and very nice. We will return next time in Wales. Not sure about the scary lady - but staff were both helpful and talkative - shop also had very good Covid setup.

Passing via Merthyr Tydfil to Cardiff we called in for Cod&chips. We was greeted by the correct COVID layout and felt very comfortable just ordering and a clean environment. Very friendly and two very polite girls who served us. Thank you we shall call again soon.

Great food... no issue with the food at all... But the old woman behind the counter needs to go. Face like thunder and she has no customer service skills whatsoever! So bad it almost makes me go elsewhere.

As a large family we like to get value for our monies, visited the fountain fish bar on many occasions, very good size portions for your money and it’s tastes good too. BUT Some of the staff needs to go onto a customer service course, old lady is always shouting/bad mouthing and needs to learn life manners, there is a girl that’s different race and never happy and has no manners the young lad there is very hard worked but always keen to help and please. Reason for my one star is the two staff, management please place there’s two on a cs course.

Purchase 3, fish n chips 2, Jumbo's in batter 7:35 6th August just gone... Batter on all was like plastic.. hard and could snap it.. fish was not very nice. Like been on heat all day. Jumbo sausages was like f××king rubber.. put most of it in the trash.. and today we all have bad stomachs and running to toilet.... And don't get me started on the ignorant staff. AVOID. UNLESS YOU REALLY LIKE THE TOILET. 👹

1 of the best eats in Merthyr. Can be too popular sometimes and a bit slow but no biggy. I just found out they take contactless for £5+ which is nice. Don't eat the kate & sidney pies...best leave them for me.

Just bought fish ( large cod ) and chips x 2 and 1 potion of chips. Worst fish and chips I have ever tasted - food was barely warm - the batter was soggy and fish greasy. Really disappointing. Would not recommend and will never go back there. The fish and chip shop in Dowlais is far better. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Dismal customer respect. I queued for 10 minutes and finally got to the front, only to be loose my place to a friend of the Fryer's who was in a rush. He walked straight in placed his order and got served with no shame or apology. Won't be visiting again, chips left a bad taste.

Quality Cod and Chips, batter can sometimes be a little under-cooked which is my reason for only 4 stars. Staff seem very hard worked but are always have keen attention to customers.

they cook while you wait so really fresh, good portions, good prices - and open on Mondays, whereas most in Merthyr stay shut on Mondays.

Second time our order not complete chips dry as was the freshly fried fish and pastry on the pie!! !! Guys answer last time they forgot our pie I give it free next time! How are they gonna know!

Came here last night with my daughter who wanted chesse and chips the cheese was green with mould i told the young girl who looked at me as if i had 2 heads she then called the owner i think he looked at it and said ohh yea it is no sorry nothing wont be going here again

Too many bad experiences to visit again. Latest is: Had the chicken curry half and half, no rice, chicken was borderline rubber. Wasn't given whole order, missing 1 bag of chips. Chips were... mushy... Not good and won't be returning

Great value for money.Fed three of us for about £7.Nearly went to Maccy D`s but was full and we wouldn`t have had much change out of £20 and still be hungry!The Irish curry sauce is a winner for me.Food is what you expect from a standard fish and chip shop.Theres also burgers,chicken bites etc.

Great food at a reasonable price. Always a lot quieter than other surrounding takeaways on a Friday and Saturday, which means you're in and out in 5 minutes, great stuff. Only problem with the place is that one of the ladies who works there is hard work. Makes it difficult to order, gives the impression that she doesn't like you, just straight up rude. Which is a bit weird for someone who works with customers

We visited this chippie in August 2016 and we were really impressed. We were on holiday and had been out for the day and came back feeling hungry so we ordered large chips and fish... we shouldn't have, even though we had not eaten all day we could NOT eat the whole, expertly cooked real chips (not the frozen rubbish you get in restaurants) portion. Staff were chatty and friendly and explained the different curry sauces to a rather dim (hunger!!) English tourist a couple of times. We could not fault the meal and as we usually spend a week in and around Merthyr during the summer we WILL return and order a normal portion!! Thank you Excellent value for money deliciously cooked
