Foundation Coffee House in Manchester

Ordered vegan 🌱 Foundation fry up. Scrambled tofu has much too much turmeric in it, so it make taste very bitter. Homemade beans as they marked in menu not edible. Cans of beans throw in tomato passata and onion. No spices or anything. Sweet potato hash isn’t hash, just cubed and fried pieces of it. Mushrooms not bad, but nothing special. Must admit vegan sausages were ok. Vegan latte was delicious. Food came not hot, just warm. Tables and seats looking dirty. 13£ for something not very nice make this place not worth it to visit again. What a shame : (

Upon ordering the food we were told it would be a 30 minute wait. We were ok with this as we were recommended to the cafe as being fantastic. After we sat at our table with the last persons plates and cups still on it we asked the waitress to clean it and take the dirty plates away, she took a further 10 minutes to do this and then only half cleared it, we then asked another waitress to clear it. Food came after 40 minutes with us again having to ask where it was for it to arrive cold! They took it back and served it again 15 minutes later! 2 eggs and 2 rashers of bacon on sourdough! Not difficult. The waitress attitude was disgusting! Rude and fake!!! It wasn't busy and the cafe looked dreadful! Dirty tables! Expensive to! Looks like it could be a fabulous place. But I won't be recommending it!

Popped in for a quick breakfast after an overnight stay in the city. Couldn’t be faulted. Poached eggs are perfect, sourdough toast is nice and crisp, smashed avo - full of flavour, lots of little trendy touches to the food. Would highly recommend.

Good coffee and different breakfast alternatives. We went here twice for breakfast/brunch. All tasted well and was served immediately.

Stopped by for breakfast on a Monday morning. Menu items (listed under both Breakfast and Brunch headings) and cabinet treats. The breakfast menu looks to be better value - we saw the granola and wished we had ordered that! However we chose from the brunch menu which didn’t come cheap - £13 for eggs royale which came on a single piece of toast, but featured quality ingredients and eggs with proper yellow yolks. The coffee tasting notes are a nice touch, however the coffee was average. To be fair, this rates it more highly than many other coffee establishments in this area! This branch of Foundation is located in a pleasant space with the big glass shopfront window letting in plenty of light as well as an outlook to the city and across to the buses coming and going through Piccadilly Gardens. On the day we visited, it was a great place for working …. the wifi is good, the music not too loud; there’s a buzz but not too much noise. They are also to be applauded for having a dog-free area as well as an area where people can bring their dogs. Not that there were any dogs in the cafe this morning, but many cafes in this part of the world seem to put dogs and dog owners before other customers. We will be happy to return - to try the granola and to become better acquainted with the breakfast menu!
