I honestly would not bother the service was awful. The waitress pointed to our table which we then when and sat, she came over then 5 min acter said you ready to order i said no thank you can we have drinks first please the waitress was so rude. Our food came it was lovely mind, however we wasnt asked if we would like another drink if our food was ok. When the waitress cleared away the plates we were not offered the desert menu at all. Very very rude staff will not be going again and we felt very rushed like eat ypur food and go awful experience

Lovely takeaway as usual. Just they forgot the pancakes for the crispy duck which was a bit annoying but we’re all human so we’re allowed mistakes! Food was great and ready on time so no complaints really. We will definitely use again, just check the contents of the bag before driving home next time!

Having visited this restaurant many times over the years, we decided that it would be a safe bet for a birthday dinner, the food having always been great and the service swift and friendly. Unfortunately, something very bad has happened to this place, I can only presume new ownership, but there is certainly now a different, and very poor chef. In the past, when you arrived, you were seated and always received prawn crackers, the service would be prompt and the food very good indeed. This time, when we were seated, we were left for some time, no prawn crackers, and it seemed difficult to order a jug of water for the table. One of the guest's starters arrived, but none of the others, until she had almost finished. She ordered satay chicken skewers, a favourite of hers, but along with another guest having also tried it, can state this was not satay sauce, but something akin to a sachet of stir fry sauce from a supermarket. The chicken was simple strips of fried chicken. After this, it took quite some time for the plates to be cleared, we had to ask for new cutlery and napkins, and then the main courses began to arrive. We were missing one main dish and when the lady asked, 'Is that it?' we said that there was a main dish missing, and she went away. We were forced to start out food while our poor friend sat with his bowl of boiled rice and nothing else. When it eventually arrived, we commented that this was not fair, that we had expected the food to come together, to eat together, the lady said that it was this way as the takeaway was so busy. When this lady took our order at the start of the evening, she read it back to us, so there was no excuse. We can only assume that this main dish had gone out in one of the takeaway orders. We had seen many, many people come and go with their takeaway orders, while the tables of people were left waiting. Following this lady leaving our table to locate the missing main meal, we did not see her again; we were waited on by a young lady, it was clear that the other lady did not want to face us. The dishes we ordered were our usual favourites. I do not know what has happened, whether they are cutting corners, but the dishes were very poor indeed. The mixed platter starter chicken was tiny little dry bits, when it has always been substantial moist strips. The noodles were dry and covered in some sort of residue. The crispy beef, which I have eaten in many restaurants, had an underlying taste of plastic, and left me feeling a bit sick. The person whose birthday it was had been looking forward to this meal very much, but did not even stay for a dessert. We just wanted to leave. The whole experience had made us all feel disappointed and low. When we did leave, they staff stood with their backs to us. I must point out that we did not cause a fuss or make any comments other than those at the table about the missing meals. So the attitude was rather strange, and very off-putting. I would suggest that if the restaurant wishes to prioritise the takeaway, they should do that instead - not neglect people who have actually made the effort to book tables and turn up to eat in-house. I would also strongly suggest if you wish to go to a Chinese restaurant, you try elsewhere, such as the Lotus in Pendine (wonderful). To be honest, if you had to choose a venue in Carmarthen, go anywhere else. The service and food were awful, and the birthday was ruined. After years of being patrons, unless the ownership changes, we will not be returning. Very sad indeed.

A very disappointing meal at Fortune house. We came as two couples for a meal. The food was below the previous standards. The service was very rude by the waitress, which was serving us all evening. One of our parties had his main course forgotten and had a bowl of rice. We complained, and it arrived along with a poor attitude from the waitress. All the food arrived at different times, so we didn't actually all eat together. We were told that the takeaway collection was very busy last night, and that's why our food came at different times....Really! We were very, very upset with the experience at Fortune House. After we had said how dissatisfied we were, they sent a young lady approximately 16-18years old to collect our dishes as they didn't want to speak to us. The restaurant was very quiet, including us, there were only 5 other tables throughout the evening..........does this show that they are prioritising takeaways over the restaurant?!

I have eaten in here a couple of times, and have had many takeaways, as I've found the food fantastic quality, tasty and reasonably priced, I would buy a takeaway every week but my wife would not let me, as I would put on too much weight.

So I was driving past and saw this Chinese restaurant though it didn’t have many people I went in , they had a great variety of food , drinks came immediately food then after ,a shame more people didn’t come here 10/10 lovely place

A few months ago the food here was beautiful. Had a meal Friday night and chicken curry was bland. Salt and chilli chips was under cooked with absolutely no flavour to them. Very disappointing as you have been closed for a while, I was excited at you reopening. Don't think I will be back any time soon. 😢

Order a Chinese Tues the 30 th January the the food was amazing good size portions and a lot of favourite will be going back there again

First visit. Very good food and plenty of it. Set meal for 3 gave us more than we could eat so we boxed the rest up and brought it home. Good value for money. Lovely staff. Will go again.

The food is utterly disappointing, I am extremely upset by the customer service and how incredibly lackluster this food is. I have looked at other reviews and am frankly even more insulted as it seems this poor service applied exclusively to me. I wanted to eat after a long day at work and service was poor, unwelcoming and unsatisfying. Sorry for the truth.

These guys read the customer and vary the quality of food. I ordered 3 dishes today for takeway . They made all in same salty sause. When I brought it in home and tasted, all of them taste salty with the same flavours. Number 1 cheating

New to the area and had beef curry for many years and from lots of chinese places. Rice was fine but sauce was a bit bland, not much onion or peas and the beef bit chewy. Can't comment on other dishes. Trying somewhere else for my curry next time

Working locally and really enjoy a Chinese meal, we found this place and have had a few meals over the past 2 weeks. Staff very accommodating and helpful, food choice is fantastic, freshly cooked and ample portions. Well worth a visit and I will be back again when working locally next time

Disappointing experience. I ordered beef with ginger and spring onions but they replaced the spring onions with large chunks of white onions and did not have the curtesy to say so before serving the order. Insulting that they assume the customer doesn’t know the difference between a spring onion and a white onion.

I ordered a takeaway as the previous food I've had from this restaurant was delicious and we travel from Tenby as the quality is so good and my daughter loves the fact that they do tasty dumplings and chicken satay . My daughter suffers from anxiety but tries her best to leave the house for the drive to Camarthen so I pre order my Takeaway for collection so she doesn't have to wait long when I run in and collect it . The last time I visited they gave my takeaway to the wrong person 😕. So I had to sit and wait which was a long time for my takeaway to be recooked while this was being done they phoned my mobile saying I had the wrong meal I said no I'm sat right infront of you . Waiting for my food as it was my meal you gave to the wrong client so once again contacted the wrong person as they were trying to get hold of the person who had my meal . My daughters anxiety levels went through the roof as she was concerned to what was taking so long . There was no real apology to me . It would have been good customer service to atleast have offered me a drink while I waited for my inconvenience

Had a takeaway today, not good at all. Two dishes were basically the same although should have been different. Both running in a red vinegary sauce. Egg goo young just a solid lump. Have used them for years but not in the last 9 months. Gone downhill a lot. No more from there for us.

We come here alot. Either for sit down meals or takeaway. Excellent Chinese food, great staff and well priced. I have nothing to complain about. I must say that this is one of the few Chinese restaurants where their ingredients seem fresh and of good quality. Can't recommend more. Of our dozens of visits I have never had a negative experience.

Just visited 30 minutes ago , shocking service, we are a family of 5 , 2 adults & 3 kids , we called in at 5 minutes past 5 , not one customer in there and asked for a table. Their reply was have you booked, I said no but you’re empty, the lady said we’ve got a party of 22 coming in at 6.30 so I said we’ll be done by 6 and they said no sorry, then I said you’ve got room here for a 100 people and still she said no . We went to weatherspoons and had a lovely meal, please give this place a miss , they don’t deserve your custom

Seriously don’t bother - we walked in 2 adults one child and a toddler at 5 pm just as they opened - not one customer ( it was empty ) asked for a table “ have you booked ? “ - er no you’re empty - “we have a party of 22 coming in at 6.30 “ - well it’s 5 and we’ll be out by then massive fuss checking the book etc “ we have 22 coming in ( was said again ) I replied in and hour and a half trust me we’ll be gone by then - all we got was blank faces - so we left 🤷‍♀️

Had a meal in the restaurant. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Restaurant was clean. The service was fast. The food was tasty and well presented. There was a good choice for vegetarians (such as myself). Price was also reasonable too. We would definitely go there again.

Awful! Awful! Awful! Poor quality, food had no flavour. Fried rice that was literally just boiled rice with some plain chicken & pineapple added. Not fried at all. Again no flavour. Smoked Shredded chicken that was just a pot full of tiny blobs of batter. No chicken at all. Truly shocking and an absolute waste of money. If we had sat in I would have refused to pay. If I lived closer I would have taken it back and demanded a refund. Won't be returning.

Truly Awful. Rice is just boiled , not egg fried with no seasoning and plain chicken. The black pepper beef looks ok but has no flavour other than a hint of the plastic container it came in. Avoid.

I do not like this Chinese takeaway, it was quite expensive the food was overly greasy and the sauces just tasted wierd ?? I would personally go else where

Had our first take away from here tonight. Absolutely beautiful!! The lady serving us was lovely and the food was amazing. Will be our new favourite Chinese I think!

Visited for the first time with high hopes but left very disappointed. Decor etc all promising but after pleasant initial greeting it went downhill. Restaurant was cold with many diners keeping their coats on as they ate and it just lacked any atmosphere. Crispy duck was beautifully presented but meat was very dry and there was not enough plum sauce or veg for the pancakes. We then waited 40 minutes for the main course dishes we’d ordered and they came out one by one not together. Chicken noodles and prawns with ginger were fine but we sent the chicken & cashew nuts back as, guess what, no cashew nuts! Replacement was just sauce poured over the chicken & cashews and was not good. Deep fried, shredded crispy beef was so dry and over cooked we weren’t even sure there was any beef in the batter. Closer inspection showed there had once been beef inside but it was cooked to dust. £60 was not a cheap way to find out that this was not a good restaurant. Would I recommend this restaurant or visit again? Strong NO on both counts sadly.

I placed a order to this restaurant via telephone. I had to then wait over a hour in the restaurant due to my order not being ready. While I waited for my order, I witnessed 5 telephone calls regarding customers receiving missing items from their orders. I then asked to check my order before taking it , this meant checking there were the correct plastic containers in the bag..When I got home my partner started dishing food into bowls and I realised my daughters Special Chop Suey was infact sweet and sour chicken. I telephoned the restaurant straight away and they requested pictures of the container, which I did so . I then opened my container to find a special curry infact had 60% raw onions and a few pieces of chicken and 2 prawns. Our chips were pale and not cooked aswell. The reply after we sent the pictures was a laughing emoji ! The next day I was extremely unwell with food poisoning which 3 days later I am still extremely unwell. I had only eaten the Chinese meal that Saturday so the cause is obviously food from that restaurant. I am disgusted with the reply from this business as customer service and quality of food is not priority to them.. I will be taking this issue further to get this restaurant checked out regarding their Hygiene .

Went out for a meal on my own for the first time. The staff couldn't be any nicer. I would definitely go back to try something else on the menu. The fruit at the end was a lovely surprise and greatly appreciated. Thank you xx

Food was fresh and delicious, big portions. Our eyes were bigger than our stomachs and they even packed up the remainder for us to take home. Service was excellent and the staff member who served us was lovely. Only piece of advice I'd give is come with a big appetite!

Awful chips, so dry, never tasted anything like it! Weirdest king prawns with cashew nuts I've ever had, strange sickly sweet bbq (I think) sauce with every veg you could think of thrown in with about 6 prawns. Very disappointed, won't be back.

I can see why your restuarant is always dead since your customer service skills clearly leave a lot to the imagination! I called at 17:32 go and have a look at your cameras and see who answered the phone! They took my full order I have the call in my call list since you are suggesting i am lying... like i would waste my evening! It wasn't the American girl who answered the phone so obviously one of your other staff members! Good luck running a business like this i imagine you will be shut down again soon enough! Called and placed an order for collection and told to pop by in 20 mins. Headed over to be told there was no record of our order, told them it was definitely placed. All we got was an "unfortunately there's nothing on the computer" had to prompt the girl on the phone to check with the kitchen and other staff still to no avail. Told could place again and wait another 20 mins... no apology no offer to make it up quicker or offer a goodwill discount. Had my 7 month old in the car and had already been in the car long enough so not willing to wait. Poor service tonight, looks like we will be going elsewhere next time.

I came to this restraunt with my family. I have never been to a Chinese or an oriental restraunt before so this was a new experience. The food was lovely and it was perfectly the taste of China. We all loved it and the service was extremely quick and dinner was served in a matter of minutes. It only had one disadvantage. The waiter was kind and helpful, but maybe a little much. It always felt a little as if she was looking over my shoulders as if she wanted us to hurry up. This was only one disadvantage because we felt uncomfortable, but other than that. It was a lovely place and I recommend it to an oriental lover 😊

Just had a take away from here. Absolutely terrible. Couldn't eat the ribs, lemon chicken or the crispy beef as it was an unnatural colour. Like completely neon, skin staining, uv reacting neon orange/red!!!! Special fried rice, well I'd love to know what's special about it. Handful of prawns thrown into egg fried rice. Don't waste your money. Tesco do a better 7.50 Chinese meal for 2! *reply to your comment - I dont like supermarket food but it would be far superior to the rubbish I just picked up. Litrally waste of hard earned money, that's were I'm coming from with that comment. Im not from carmarthen, and first time iv had food here. I'm well travelled and a chef! So i know what I'm talking about in regards to food and its quality. If you cant take constructive criticism then maybe you should reconsider your profession in the hospitality industry.

The food and the service levels were just fantastic, we are so glad we found this place on our 2 night break. It was there 1st night open after the covid lockdown. The staff could not be more polite. A hidden gem in carmarthen.

Best Chinese I have had in al long time. Had the set meal B change 2 of the main to suit my 2 grandsons having a sleep over and they tried everything and loved it. Would have loved to have a sit down but not allowed. Would definitely recommend 5stars

Only place we eat at during our visit in Carmarthen. We had their food for takeaway three days in a row. Lots of options to choose from. Quick service and great food at awesome prices. Couldn’t ask for more. Very popular with the locals too. Telephone orders welcome.

Ordered for collection. All covid19 measures in place which made us feel very safe. Food was delightful,the food was very tasty and not at all greasy. Great value for money.

Tonight was the first time we considered the scary thought of venturing out for a take away in the middle of this Covid. The service was impeccable. Their attention to all health and safety guidelines made me feel very happy to go home and enjoy a really delicious take away. Definitely recommend here

Got a take out from here and must say it's the best chinese me and my partner have come across, exceptional! The food is full of taste, lots of flavour. It is definitely worth the money. New to the area and will be ordering more! Very happy with the service, lovely staff... 5* 🙂 highly recommended.

My parents and I went to the Fortune House this evening for a meal. The food was amazing and the service was brilliant. The food came really quickly too. Can’t fault it. Price was reasonable. Couldn’t have asked for more ! Will definitely be back!

I am a vegan and I have enjoyed all of the takeaways I have had so far from this place. It is very clean and the food always tastes good. Would definitely recommend.

Lovely food,we had prawn crackers free of charge a had starter main meal and drinks. £39.00 for the two of us, after we finished we were given fresh fruit, which was nice and refreshing again free of charge. Definitely be going back, they were very busy with take sways as well. Good service, the only draw back it was quite cold there, luckily I took a scarf which I kept on. Otherwise excellent, looking forward to our next visit.

Similar to many Chinese restaurants throughout UK. Food always good, service excellent and pleasant surroundings.

Not great, food tasted very processed and definitely not as fresh as I would expect compared to the Chinese just across the road, which although is a bit more expensive is far superior.

We arrived without booking and the restaurant was very busy but the waitress quickly managed to find us a table for two. I was pleasantly surprised by the interior of the restaurant as I’ve passed it for years but never actually ventured in! It’s much nicer inside.The menu was good and the food arrived surprisingly quickly seeing as they were so busy and were obviously also busy with takeaway meals. The best thing by far are the polite and hardworking reception and waiting staff.The price was more than fair at £20 a head but we weren’t drinking.The restaurant could do with a little bit of music as it lacked a bit of atmosphere. Some of the serving dishes have seen better days, as have the garnishes, but overall a really good experience.

Lived in Carmarthen for 2 years now and have slowly got around to using all the Chinese Takeaways and whilst there is not a huge amount of difference in quality (they are all 3-4 star, then where Fortune House excels is in customer service - there is a pride here which is absent in other places especially in the takeaway across the road where they are nothing else but rude. It is lovely to visit here and they don,t ignore you (even when busy take note others!!!). Nice meal and nice experience and I only had a takeaway.

My partner and I have travelled extensively throughout the world and have been fortunate to sample Chinese and Asian cuisine at source. we also know some fantastic Chinese Restaurants throughout Britain, the Fortune House is NOT one of them, it is without doubt the worst attempt at Chinese food that we have had the misfortune to sample. The sauces in our dishes were definitely straight out of a bottle lacking any culinary finesse, we should have known when the waitress bringing our drinks to the table dropped a whole basket of crackers on the floor, okay so accidents happen, but a vodka served with flat tonic water and no ice and slice was sent back, the whole experience was abysmal and what we would say to the people who gave a five star rating, you really do need to widen your culinary horizons.

Food is always good! Best Chinese in Carmarthen by far and they also do takeaway! Attend once a month! Always good but we never come during peak times!** Good Points **+ Good Mains+ Good Starters+ Clean Toilets + Quick to serve you food.** To improve on **- Slightly expensive- Could do with some flavoured Cider (Raspberry / Pear)- No fortune cookies??? - No Chop Sticks ??

Since opened many years ago been about 4 or 5 times...First couple years food very bland and uncolouful so didn’t go again for long time ...Year or so ago had a pleasant meal...This end May BH Sunday had an awful meal ...Every thing was WAY TOO SALTY ...out of 5 of us two starters couldn’t finish and 2 meals ( never ever not finished a shared crispy seaweed before !! ) Waiter was great and waitress pleasant and quick service ...Even though 2 of us have been cooks for 30 years we are not fussy but was inedible ...We didn’t complain even though I wanted to as they had let us in really late ...whoever was cooking that night was very heavy handed with salt ....put me off for few more years

The food is ok but the service is slow. The outside looks very rundown but the inside is nicely decorated.

Stopped here on our way back from a day out going off pervious reviews. We weren't disappointed. Good value for money and very tasty.

Went here for a Chinese with some of my family after returning from a Trip to Thailand. The welcoming was great and the smartly dressed staff were attentive from the off and we all commented on how nice the decor was inside, which is a sharp contrast to the outside which is low key. Everything is super clean and impeccably presented and the food was tasty and in generous amounts and the menu items themselves are varied with a smattering of Thai options in there also. All in all I can't recommend highly enough.

Having been here a couple years ago and had an awful meal, I visited Fortune House because roads to other places were flooded. The place has been completely transformed, the staff were extremely smartly presented and very friendly. We ordered a takeaway meal, and a cold drink whilst waiting. As we sat in the waiting area, which was spacious and welcoming, we were given some complimentary prawn crackers.
