Forest Spice in New Forest

On a pitstop from Cornwall back in 2017, decided to stop by at this restaurant for a pre booked table. The food quality and service was an absolute pleasure. Prawn Puree and Chicken Jalfrazi were among the best I have had. Muhammad Ali has been a pleasure meeting along with all the staff. Will definately come again… And here I am again and again, whenever I pass by Southampton, I look for an excuse to dine in at Forest Spice. They have continued to supply fresh tasty food regularly and never disappointed me. Had I beena local resident, I would have been here regularly. Buffet night, a chance to try lots of different dishes. Great food! Good value. Menu is from southern India. Friendly staff, good view of the marina.

An absolutely lovely evening. Had to wait as v busy - always a good sign. The staff were polite, engaging and actually got us to reduce the number of rice and naans as we had ordered too many. The food was exceptional. The chef specials must be tried. A great experience. Highly recommended.

Discovered this place just over 1 year ago, I have always had takeaway, is always flavoursome and cooked to perfection. Staff are welcoming and friendly if you have any problems you can get in touch and they will try and fix it. Brilliant service and are looking forward to dining in with my family next time we want a authentic Indian food.

We’ve eaten here numerous times and have taken family members, we all love the food and the service is very good. It’s reasonably priced and the restaurant is clean and tidy.

Cold runny curry. Very rude customer service, one to definitely avoid. There’s a fantastic Indian opened on the marina. Knocks spots of this one

Wonderful little restaurant. Great atmosphere and service. Very convenient as car park nearby. Modern contemporary interior. Great food at affordable prices. Highlights were the fish special and goan king prawn.

Back at one of our favourite restaurants. Always welcomed with open arms. Mamun and Jibon were great as always. Well spiced and delicate dishes. Keep up the excellent work.

We took our autistic daughter in to this place for a midweek treat and the young waiter twigged right away and asked us if we wanted a cold plate for her food (first time we have been asked in many restaurants we have been in 36 years) food was superb and very plentiful The poppadoms were hot and fresh the pickle tray was very generous and the red onion relish was flipping gorgeous we had never had that before … the place was lovely and warm so kudos to the owner for that considering the heating charges nowadays. Amazing time had during my most recent visit, the chef special garlic chilli chicken was divine and full of flavor and staff so friendly and warm, lovely accommodating atmosphere.

Absolutely amazing food and I always enjoy it. The Chicken Buna Balti (don't really know how to spell it) is amazing and the garlic naan is nice, can be a bit of miss if it is a bit burnt or not, but overall 5 stars and will always be coming back.

I went to ask for a table for one. I was told that it was not possible as there was avlarge booking. I had been told this on a previous occasion when I asked for a table for one. I went to a restaurant opposite and had a meal. When I came out, there was no sign of the large booking that I had been told about, so they could have served me. I went in and challenged the man there. He told me they were coming soon. I told him that I am a champion of thevrigh5s of the single person and that he was discriminating. He dismissed my claim. I went back a while later, still mo sign of this jarge party.

Awful experience, terrible service cold food. Such a shame been going there for years but now under new management and customer service is zero

Average food and not very hot. Owner was quite abrupt and rude at closing time just before 11 on a Saturday night. Approximately 16 people in restaurant all commented on how rude he was...... sadly won't be going back after that

Needed to get out and spend some time out with my wife. One small gripe. A large noisy group disturbed us and others. Would be great if they were positioned further back. To allow the other patrons to hear each other. Therefore not marring the evening. Having said that. Five stars have been registered because the welcome and the attentive service of the team was excellent. The manager is always on top form. The meal was wonderful. Hot fresh and moorish, great Chefs. Very well flavoured and very affordable. The restaurant is comfortable and clean. We have visited with friends and as a couple. Even though it is a 40 minute journey. It's our ' go to' with plenty of parking within 2 mins.Well done

Lovely dinner with my family yesterday at Forest Spice. Service was great and food was amazing, everything was absolutely delicious. We will definitely be back!

Dined here last night with my boyfriend for a date. The atmosphere was incredibly cosy, with lovely decoration. The food was absolutely incredible, possibly the best curry I've ever had served piping hot, all in separate bowls so you can control how much you put on your plate and how much you'd like to take home if you'd like to. The owner and waiter were very accommodating, making sure you are happy with your meal. We will absolutely dine here again.

Had a takeaway from here, easy to order online and pay on collection, ordered for 4 people and time for collection was spot on, outstanding food and reasonable prices.

I'll be honest wasn't that good. For starters I had the kebab and the meat was dry . Onion bargie was nice. Then the pathia wasn't amazing didn't taste good at all . Service wasn't good .

Ordered 2 lamb Bhunas which were a bit watery along with Nan bread which were ok but my peshwari Nan bread was burnt . 2 sets of onion bhajis with pappadoms and dips . My own personal experience and a fair comment considering it was £48

Goog range of curries, all can be cooked to your liking. Attentive service but not oppressive. Special catering for vegans if required.

After reading the reviews we decided to call in as our preferred restaurant was closed. The restaurant is nice, modern and had a good feel to it. It seemed popular due to the amount of people looking for a table and picking up takeaways. To us this seemed strange as the food really wasn’t that good, it lacked flavour and was pretty tasteless. It might have been a one off but as I was only in the area for one night I won’t have chance to see if this is not the norm.

We had a fantastic meal in the restaurant a few weeks ago and then a takeaway recently. The food is delicious and the service is perfect!

Had a takeaway here last night. We had three chicken kormas and all of them were bland, tasteless, and watery. Sadly we won’t be using this one again.

Had a takeaway last night very poor quality prawn curry was tasteless very little flavour no better than a supermarket ready meal prawns were chewy rice not good naan bread ok for £20 very disappointed will not return

The Pathia is the single greatest thing I've ever eaten in my life. Had it 6 months ago, and again today thinking I might have exaggerated... I did not. FANTASTIC. The staff are also very personable and enjoyable to be around. Couldn't recommend it any more, best curry house I've ever been to.

Ordered take out well in advance... Not even been cooked when we arrived to collet..rather disappointing. Ended up eating in and was average...

4* as I just had a takeaway. Also I wouldn't easily give any restaurant 5*. I ordered on line and that worked like clockwork. Food (Chicken Madras) delicious. Front staff very friendly. I've been reg customer for many years.

What a great takeaway we had last week. Food was excellent and staff super. Service quick and friendly.

First time visit. Our usual curry house was unfortunately closed (Bengal Brassarie). We saw the reviews and thought Great!! We were very dissappointed!!" After a 40 minute wait.... Lamb Pathia - Overpriced at £8.40... we usually pay £7.95 - Lamb was lovely and tender :) However, lots of floating oil on top!! Yuk!! It was Full of sugar and No sour flavour at all!! Garlic Chilli Chicken - For the Overpriced £9.25 . Usually pay £7.95 we expected excellence, However, what we got was Bright PINK-RED DYED Chicken, so obviously artificial colouring pretending to be a tandoori marinade which we definately didn't order, plus pickled garlic and not a fresh piece of chilli or garlic to be seen in the whole of the dish. So for the overpriced dish was cooked on a very tight buget!! The peshwari nan was £2.95, only £2.50 at the Bengal Brasserie. Garlic rice - £3.50 usually pay £2.50. Looked like a mishmash of all the left-overs...no fresh garlic to speak of!! Onion Bahjji's £3.20 usually £2.50. Not too bad but no need to add the extra sugar!! In all not really enjoyed the meal, felt that they cut corners and the flavour was not fresh but sub-standard. We have had worse but we are used to better tasting curries for less money. Also had a 40 minute wait, then another 10 minutes stood outside in the rain!!!

This is definitely the best indian restaurant in the waterside area. Mostly use as a takeaway. Shame they dont do a home delivery but it's so good I dont mind collecting. The food is very tasty and not dripping in oil like most takeaways.

Went back to Forest Spice after a long while. I am so pleased I did. We had the best curry we have had in a very long time, and I have a new favourite Indian. 🥘

Regular takeaway user and have eaten in as well! Very reasonably priced, tasty, and enjoyable food. I would highly recommend forest spice. Staff are great and offer a friendly and personal service (including remembering your names everytime you go in). Small restaurant so make sure you book in advance... well worth it!

Situated in the quiet village of Hythe, this is a fabulous curry restaurant. This well-esablished place has a good range of dishes, all tasty, fresh and generous. Generous portions, delicious food and friendly service. Of particular note, oven-fresh popadums and naan, chutneys. Fantastic veggie selection including versions of old favourites (vegetable Dansak to die for), brinjal and channa. Would gladly return.

Takeaway food awful, threw away the curry, tasteless the chicken must have been boiled first then later added to curry. If I had a car would have taken it back

Another brilliant evening on Saturday at Forest Spice in Hythe with visiting family. Place was busy and buzzing and service was excellent and always with a smile. I love the food here, and my uncle visiting for the first time, who loves his curries, thought it was the best he'd ever had. Cant wait to visit again!

Another fab meal here with friends. Managed to seat us at our preferred table (number 8). All food was tasty but the Chicken Jalfrezi was particularly flavourful. Helpful when asked about nut allergens and showed us the list of ingredients to put our friend’s mind at rest.

Great food with friendly staff... First time I had seen Rezila on a menu, thought I'd be adventurous and try something different... Wow... My New Favourite Dish!!! My other half's Bhuna was also a winner... Excellent evening...

The food was very good but the service left a lot to be desired as the waiter was to busy with what was going on around him rather than concentrate on taking your order and was not very pleasant when questioned about it

Food excellent service was not! Requested that the waiter concentrated on our table for the five minutes he was taking our order instead of looking around at everything else. To receive a very aggressive response as to why it was necessary for him to behave in such a way. So if you want polite attentive service this is not the place to go suggest that you get a takeaway

Excellent service Placed a large order for a group meet being held - the service received was excellent and the food was even separated into bags all numbered up to make it easier. Food was delicious and went down a treat. All food was ready dead on the time booked for. Would definitely use again.

Good service but very unpleasant food

We were in Hythe for the Southampton boat show, and were looking for somewhere to eat. Came upon this place by chance and couldn't have found better. Good food, very pleasant staff and very reasonable price. What else do you need, full marks.

Superb service and food, lovely setting and best Jalfrezzi in the area. Was very accomodating to our friend who was wheelchair bound. Use this restaurant for take aways as well!

Finding ourselves having to change our eating plans at short notice Sunday evening, we looked in at Forest Spice with a view to having a takeaway. On studying the menu we found we were spoilt for choice and decided to eat in.Fantastic ample & tastey food, friendly & attentive service plus very reasonable prices

This establishment is quite simply a little gem... unfailingly delicious dishes are served in clean and contemporary surroundings by friendly and courteous staff. However the unsung star of the show is surely Hashim the chef... a master of his craft. Dhansak mains are sublime, whilst this chef truly knows how to produce a mouthwatering chotpoti starter... try it; you’ll be converted in an instant. Bangladeshi cuisine is very possibly the finest and most delicious of all global flavours; Forest Spice is an outstanding ambassador to prove the case.

A small restaurant down a side street but worth finding. We had a very good meal with wine, well served and presented and both tastted superb, In fact the best Indian meal we have had for decades. Meals and wine came to about £60 which was great value. Highly recommended, but book at the weekend as they have few tables.

Food was delicious and staff were so friendly. The atmosphere was great and i would defiantly recommend the paneer tikka masala.

New to the area and ordered from here tonight, great food and reasonably priced for the quality. Will be our local place to order curry from now on. Polite staff when picking up the order also.
