Lunch was very disappointing. Vegetarian options are very very limited. Used to have a lovely burger on the menu when we were in the area last. Chose asparagus salad which was just a few piece of diced asparagus with a huge mountain of salad leaves. Felt like a rabbit’s meal and only ate a few mouthfuls. Chips were £5 per portion and were just frozen ones, not handmade. Waited ages for our dishes to be cleared away. Would have liked a dessert with tea and a coffee, but although there were plenty of staff standing around, nobody ever came back to take an order so we paid and left. Someone from here should visit the Penny Farthing in Cowbridge. Their vegetarian options are superb - Glamorgan sausages, Brie, soup etc all served as starters or a main dish amongst other choices. As a family with 3 vegetarians, it would put us off coming with the rest of the family.

Visited today for the Easter extravaganza! I saw this experience advertised on Facebook and thought it would be a lovely couple of hours out of the house with the kids this Easter weekend. Paid £12.50 per ticket. So for a family of 4-£50 We arrived in time for our booked time slot to find the car park was very full and limited available parking. Not helped by the fact some individuals had parked over 2 spaces. The recommended time to spend here was approx 2 hours- we stayed just over 1 hour. The Easter Extravaganza offered a number of activities from Storytelling to Animals and lots in-between. I would totally recommend that wellies or good walking boots are worn as the field was very muddy! Easter Bunny- lovely opportunity to have your picture taken with the Easter bunny and friends. Story Teller was great. The children were captivated. Street Performer- unfortunately when we were there we didn’t see a street performer. Tractor Ride- terrible!! Rightly or wrongly we were expecting to see animals in fields or even a view of a working farm yard. Sadly what we were “shown” was much worse! The ride took us down to an area of the farm that I can only describe as a landfill site- the primary view was a load of bins (I can only assume that were no longer wanted by the local council) and a pile of steaming horse/cow manure. The stench was horrific and made my child feel ill. Photos attached. Very disappointed. I would recommend changing the route (if possible) to avoid a view of disused council bins! Farm Machinery- one tractor and trailer for people to look at. Forage Animals- great. A good variety and prompted alot of questions from my child. Easter Colouring- great but in a small area of the tent. When we arrived there were a number of colouring pages strewn over the floor and unfortunately not usable. Pony’s and Rabbits- lovely experience, the lady very knowledgable and clearly has a passion for her animals. Glitter Tattoo- free and kept the kids happy. Owls- the best part. My child was given the opportunity to hold an owl on his arm. Something which he thoroughly enjoyed and didn’t stop talking about. Food- we didn’t sample the food so would be unfair to comment except to say that there appeared to be a lot of variety. Toilets- 3 ports loos in the field. Appeared clean. Overall an Average experience.

This is situated just off the A40 outside Cowbridge so could be a break for your journey to West Wales. It is a rather isolated and windy setting but the cafe is pleasant with table service. There is also a very well stocked farm shop of Welsh produce - indeed the most comprehensive I have seen although all at expected prices. A great place for stocking your larder.

My husband and two small children (7 and 5) have been coming here for the past 2 years. We LOVE the shop, it began as a treat which has now become a regular shop for us for the best produce in the area. My children love the play park and the animals in the fields beyond as well as a hot chocolate - my husband and I enjoy a sit down outside with a coal town coffee whilst they have fun. We love forage!

A fab location for a coffee with children. We really enjoy frequenting to the forage when the weather allows and always feel relaxed when leaving. The views are simply stunning and the atmosphere is ambient . The only frustrating reason why I can’t award 5 stars on this occasion is the prices of food and drink . It is borderline ridiculous. Great for a coffee , and possibly a cake once a month but certainly not worth purchasing food for the cost.

Went there yesterday for a light lunch with a friend. Having looked at the menu on line beforehand I was looking forward to the Penllyn Estate Hog Roast sandwich. I was so disappointed, the sandwich was cut in half but consisted of two doorstep hunks of bread on each half and a small slice of pork with a small amount of apple and cinnamon sauce and sage and onion stuffing. Please Forage, fill the sandwich with pork, not two small slices. Regularly visit the takeaway section of Forage when walking with the dog and thoroughly enjoy the coffee, but noticed last week how grubby the place looked and how filthy the front door window was. Tap in the ladies loo is also very insecure which I’ve told them about in the past. Doesn’t fill you with confidence if these simple things are not addressed.

Forage hosted a Post-Christmas supper for the local WI group. What a lovely evening they gave us. Room beautifully set out, absolutely fanatic food, charming staff and a very reasonable price with a large glass of wine each provided at no extra cost. Can’t recommend enough. Thank you so much Christiano and all the chefs and serving staff

Wow! What a wonderful evening! Attended our Annual WI post Christmas dinner at Forage. This year we decided on a change of our usual venue, and it was a great success. 45 WI ladies of a certain age thoroughly enjoyed an absolutely delicious 3 course meal accompanied by lots of good wine. It was the best WI post Christmas meal I have attended in all the years, in my opinion. Each course was quality (and quantity!) I started with a lovely smoked salmon on a bed of spinach and capers, and toasted muffin. topped with a perfectly cooked poached egg. I am fussy with my poached eggs and this was perfect and runny. Other starters included a terrine. Soup, ham croquettes. All excellent. For main course I had a huge portion of beef. Think it was half a cow! It was superb, tender and melt in the mouth, on a bed of mash, with shallot. Kale, red cabbage and delicious gravy. I managed around 3/4. Other mains included turkey and belly pork. All much praised. For pudding I had cheesecake with a fabulous, (suspect Fablas,) clementine sorbet. Ate the sorbet and brought most of the gorgeous cheesecake home for hubby. There was a much praised sticky toffee pudding and Christmas pudding. We had our usual Secret Santa gifts between main and deserts. The staff were excellent, efficient and friendly and huge compliments to the chef. We will return.

Always such an enjoyable experience going to Forage Farm. Whether it’s a coffee and cake, or a look in the shop, we love it! We usually go and get meat from the butchers and they are even really helpful when I ask for meat for my dog! We will be going back for more amazing, local produce.

"My partner and I had the most amazing time at Forage! We'd heard great things about this place, and it totally lived up to the hype. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by a super friendly waitress who showed us to our table and explained the menu. The sommelier was a total pro and helped us pick the perfect wine to pair with our meal. We had the most delicious scallops and a perfectly cooked steak. And don't even get me started on the homemade bread and olive oil! The atmosphere was so cozy and romantic, with soft music and candlelight. And the dessert? To die for! The tarte tatin was out of this world. The chef even surprised us with a little plate of stuffed dates – such a nice touch. The staff were all so friendly and attentive. We had such a great night, we'll definitely be back!

We have been regular customers at Forage for breakfast and lunch and always book well in advance. Today was our last visit (26/8/24). We arrived at the correct time of our booking to be shown a completely unsuitable table next to the ordering point and till we asked to be moved but were told no other tables were available even though there were clearly empty tables of two available. We made a second request to be moved this was refused so we left, we will not return. Had all other tables been occupied we would not be complaining but as there were other tables available we felt let down.

We dropped in in passing and thought we'd try Forage out. Great decision, we encountered friendly, professional service, a limited lunch menu but wow, such good quality steaks, accompaniments and desserts. You do pay a little more than in your average pub but there is a marked difference. Well worth it and we'd like to think next time for a treat will be spent in Forage.

We arrived for a quick drink before returning to the airport and the experience couldn't have been better. They were very friendly when we arrived, we talked a little about our trip and football, they gave us a portion of potatoes and gave us a small discount on the final price. We ordered a ham and mushroom pizza and it was very delicious. The bread style dough and very tasty ingredients. I am convinced that we could not have chosen a better place to dine.
