Food In The Fells in South Lakeland

Great value, fresh and delicious - we’ll definitely be coming back! If you’re looking for something around Ambleside/Grasmere/Windermere affordable and without any fuss look no further!

We were staying in a remote area and Food in the Fells was the only business who were willing to deliver to us. We had Pizza's that were absolutely delicious! Delivery time was fast and the service & communication we received was second to none. Thank you again! :D

Great food, quick delivery, very hot, decent portion sizes, impressed with quality. Ordered the dippy box and was an excellent choice to share as lots in it! Chicken kebabs with salad were good size portion too.

We went here for a carry-out. I know how things have changed in this Covid world we're in, so I get the feeling that Food in the Fells wasn't as well hidden before. We couldn't find it easily, but after walking up towards the car park, it was in to the left, behind other buildings. And it was worth finding as the food was delicious and the portions large. Our only regret was that we found it on our last night there or we would have used it more often. The girl in charge was absolutely lovely - very friendly and warm, and the food was made while we waited outside. Would highly recommend.

We used the delivery service from Ambleside to Stepping Stones towards Rothay. Food arrived promptly and hot. Tasty Pizzas.

Absolutely incredible, we live in Ambleside and it’s the best take away! So fresh! Worth every penny

To begin with, the packaging is not plastic so a tick for green straight away. Also veggie and vegan options. The portions are humongous - all 5 of us struggled to finish our plates. All dishes were of great quality and all very tasty. Chicken burger and Cajun chicken kebabs were particularly great. Only problem was the long wait for food - however this only shows how popular the place is.

This place is a rip off !! Food was cold and it’s only a 2 mins drive. Do not waste your money. Meat was grey and nothing there. How can I takeaway that cost 40 pounds be so disgusting and cold not impressed

Awesome food delivered on time. Can’t ask for anything more (they deliver cold beer 🍻too 😀). Amazing pulled pork burger 🍔 and pizza 🍕. We were recommended this place last time we were in the area and looked them up as soon as we got here this time 🤩

We had a pizza and fries from here last night and they were very tasty, best pizza we’ve had in the lakes. The portion of fries was huge and they were so tasty. Garlic & chilli dips were fab too. Will definitely order from here again! Yummy.

Best pizza in a long while, cooked and served by the ever lovely Katie! Vegetarian for me and cajun chicken for my better half! Lovely crispy base and tomato sauce that wasn't over powering. Perfect!

And also they do huge portions and top quality ingredients and service with a great friendly smile. They will personally cook it to how you want it, and they are just brill!!!!

Lovely food. Brilliant Cajun chicken kebab. Loads of chicken, big portions too. Sometimes there may be a bit of a wait for home delivery, but it is definitely worth it. I highly recommend them and they can even deliver the wine and beer too, big bonus!

My husband and 4 children had pizza takeaway tonight. They all said how amazingly delicious they were, my husband even went as far as to say it was ‘the best he’d ever had!’ (He had the sticky chicken, yum!!)

Whilst we waited for the Lakeland runners to pass the park. We ordered pizza at this place. Great takeaway. Nice pizza. Would recommend.

Steak burger was one of the best I've had in some time, large portions, quick delivery, very reasonably priced too, pizza was delicious with big slices of real steak. Delicious. Thank you

We had coffee and cakes here. Portions are generous and cakes clearly home made and all the better for it. The staff were welcoming without being overbearing, in all a lovely atmosphere

This is the most welcoming, family run cafe we've been fortunate to find on our weeks holiday in the lakes. We noticed the sign on the wall saying, one of the friendliest cafes in Ambleside, and they weren't wrong. Coffee with added marshmallows in a happy mug, wonderful cake and local family for company. sometimes, sorry, most of the time, you arrive at a shop, cafe, or restaurant and you are greeted with basic questions regarding what would you like, sometimes with a smile, not here. You are treated as a friend, with a smile and a chat about your day.

Had coffee with a cheese & onion sandwich bulging with cheese which to my delight came with a side salad.

Visited this cafe on Saturday 01/07/2017 to find a lovely interior and fantastic home made cakes and food, a friendly family run business, who go out of their way to ensure that your visit is as satisfactory as possible.

We had lunch and ordered yummy toasties, very well prepared, very tasty with a small side salad. A new owner has taken over and is now called Fresher's Café. They were extremely nice and offered excellent service. Nice décor, clean, comfortable and sitting outside too. Excellent value!!

Lovely people made us feel so welcome including our dog George hot soup on a cold day .... gorgeous ... they even give the dog a home made sausage !

These people are obviously very happy in their work - we received a cheery welcome. We called here for a hot drink before setting off on our day's walk around Loughrigg Fell. The cafe is a new addition since our last visit to the Lakes. They have a good snack menu and will even prepare packed lunches for you. We will be back!

Came for a beautiful breakfast in the courtyard accompanied by 3 springers whom were very well cared for whilst we were there. Brought home 3 pies which barely lasted a day in the fridge before they were all gone. Amazing couple / staff and amazing pies. Well worth the little walk down from the centre to this gaff!

Passing this place at lunch time and feeling peckish, we called in, so pleased we did. Pleasant staff, nice food and very reasonably priced. Highly recommended.

After a long day walking around this lovely village, we were making our way back to the car park, when yo stumbled upon a little gem. Ooh, that's like a nice place, I thought, a little slated courtyard leading up to the shop. We were greeted by a smiling face with a welcoming manner,(which is missing in so many shops today). Serving drinks and homemade food, cakes, pies and pasties. Well worth making a visit. Highly Recommended.

We stopped in here for a lunch and sat outside in the sun. The BLT is excellent and the Katy and Mark and very welcoming. Will be back and can recommend to all comers!

Came into Ambleside after a previous days walking in Grasmere. Needless to say we were 6 hungry young ladies!!! The food was beautiful and the service was fantastic. I'm fussy with breakfast I don't like mushrooms and tomatoes and hate my beans touching dry food and prefer them in a separate pot..I politely asked if I could swap the mushrooms and tomato for 1 extra hash brown and if I could have my beans in a separate pot. This was not one bit of a problem which I was really grateful for! Had the most delicious meal! Thanks again for being so friendly and accommodating for a mega fuss pot!!!!

Called in for lunch today a random visit as we were just passing and liked the look of the menu & outdoor seating area. First impression was that the staff were very friendly and welcoming and genuinely loving what they do. We ordered toasted sandwiches, what can I say, really delicious and fresh, non greasy or oily, wonderful tasty side salad and excellent coffee. One of the best lunches we have had in the 20+ years we have been coming to the lakes. Will definitely be visiting again during our two week holiday.

We stumbled across this little piece of perfection as we sheltered from the showers in Ambleside. Tasty foods for lunch, friendly fast service, welcoming atmosphere - the white hot chocolate was fabulous! Thank you for making our day.

Found this place will driving round looking for breakfast, did me a fantastic bacon, hash brown and black pudding role. All of the food was cooked to perfection and had a really clean taste (as if all the cooking utensils / oil etc were new or mega clean). Very pleasant staff and wifi as well. Highly recommended.

Just had a home made pasty with mushy peas and a little jar of gravy washed down with a pot of tea. Cracking!! Fast and friendly service and a bill that didn't break the bank

Really pleased to stumble across this place which was only a short walk from the centre of Ambleside towards to lake. The owners were welcoming and family friendly, serving delicious, great value food! Lovely outside area to enjoy the sunshine too, what more could you ask for!

Really good home cooked food and such a warm welcome. Amazing price and so affordable with clean and comfy surroundings. Our second visit and breakfast was every bit as good as the pasties we had last time. Water for the dog too. This is a gem of a find and will come here again when on holiday X

What a lovely couple that run this place! Simple menu. I had quiche which wasn't on the menu and it was delicious, served with salad and homemade coleslaw. Great outdoor seating area which will be lovely in the sun. Reasonably priced. A great little cafe and they do takeaways for walkers. Only been open 6 months, we wish them well.

We were on our way home and needed lunch when we passed here, so glad we did. The egg and bacon batch was delicious and the hubby enjoyed his cumberland sausage, bacon and egg batch. The cakes had taken my eye and I ordered the coffee and walnut and was not disappointed, the piece was huge and very tasty... Well worth a visit if you're in the lakes

On a day trip by coach to Ambleside. Needed a cup of tea (and the loo) so called into this charming café. Small but beautifully formed décor and facilities. Met the owners, Mark and Katy. Very friendly and helpful. Mark was busy making flan cases for a forthcoming event but looked after us very well. Lovely tea and cake. Enjoyed it so much that we called in again on our way back to the coach.

This is a little gem. Very friendly welcome, even though we only wanted a take away sandwich and coffee. Lovely food and very clean.

Good cuppa, good food and friendly owners. Home-made pasties baked on site and filled to the brim (no gap between filling and pastry) very tasty and certainly good value for money.

A really lovely cafe. The guys who work here and I suspect own it were incredibly friendly. Had a lovely Mocha and sandwich. The ambience of the place is lovely, free wifi and very clean. The food was very nice. The service excellent. Highly recommend

stopped on the way into Ambleside - the poster for homemade pasties was the lure, and a parched and exhausted dog. So glad we did, the food was absolutely delicious, the service friendly, and welcoming from 2 really hard working people. (and treats for the pooch)

I can't recommend food in the fells highly enough, the food is fantastic and Mark and Katie couldn't make you feel more welcome.

Breakfast baps to die for! And always a cheerful welcome... a real favourite. Handmade Cumberland patties, pasties and much more. Can't recommend it enough

Make sure you don't miss this lovely cafe on your next visit to Ambleside. We were made very welcome by the owners. We ate our takeaway pasties on the top of the Langdales and they were really tasty. We also visited for coffee and cakes. The cakes were being baked while we were there so there's no question about them being homemade! There's also a very pretty courtyard at the front with tables so you can sit outside (a rarity in Ambleside). Great people, lovely food, what more can you ask for.

While walking into Ambleside we walked passed this little Gem. Very friendly and home made pasties and other healthy food. You are made to feel very welcome and I can personally recommend the Cajun Chicken toasty. Well worth the short walk out of town.

Great little find. We were looking for somewhere different to eat when this place was recommended to us by some locals. We were greeted by both Katie and mark who were both really friendly and chatty all of the food was great and reasonably priced too :-)

The Cumbrian pastie is the best savoury pastry I've ever tasted, this includes a traditional Cornish pastie. It was amasing, filled full of meat and flavour with perfectly cooked pastry. Also had a slice of the chocolate cake, would not be my normal choice but it too was fantastic. This little place is an asset to Ambleside, not only is the food fab but so is the service, nothing was too much trouble. I will definitely be recommending you and you will definitely be seeing me on a regular basis.

A wee café that also does takeouts for those going walking/picknicking. They specialise in pies, pastys (Cumbrian not Cornish) scotch eggs and a wonderfull chocolate cake plus more. My daughter rated their bacon rolls as the best ever.
