Folk Cafe in South Lakeland

I go there in my first time trip in last week. I spend 2 hours and take some beer with my partner. We really enjoy the time. I'll come here again.

Fab place , amazing food . I think anything you would choose from the menu would be great . So dog friendly our 12 year old staffie Eric was spoilt rotten with bacon and cuddles x

Despite being a ageing grumpy and fussy old fart I have become accustomed to using TripAdvisor to search for places to eat around the location I am in. The review status and the mention of Craft beer was enough to hook me! Well believe the hype and more, in short if you find yourself in Bowness on Windermere this is an absolute must. The Beer choice is excellent and the small menu carefully considered wonderfully fresh and beautifully presented was a delight. Prawn and Chorizo Tacos Spicy chicken Tacos and my daughter ( a gastropub Chef) had a bacon and halloumi roll. All where delicious. Then to round everything off the Staff are absolutely wonderful really welcoming and cheerful genuinely lovely people. We enjoyed it so much we headed straight back two days later when another guest had joined our party only to find the manager, had decided to do a stock take and clean up and give the staff a well deserved day off after a very hectic summer season (nice boss) Amazingly we were greeted with a sincere apology and the offer to sample a couple more beers and then we were allowed to purchase a good selection of cans to take back to our accommodation. That was truly above and beyond real old fashioned customer service of the highest order. So yes the reviews are true and well deserved just GO! THANKS AGAIN EVERYONE AT THE FANTASTIC FOLK TAP

Lovely place for a bacon and egg sandwich and tea while visiting Bowness on Windermere. Would like to return to try lunch. Nice menu!

Went for a spot of lunch - 4 adults and 3 under 6’s - drawn initially by the promise of a nice craft beer but it far surpassed that! The beer was great and the food was simply out of this world, real unique experience to have such lovely Korean inspired food just off the main run through Bowness. But the main reason to visit here was the owners and staff - they couldn’t have been more accommodating, pleasant and helpful. Immediately identifying the challenges of dining out with young kids though their own experience - offered activities for them to do whilst the adults ate and drank. The kids menu was spot on too. They even gave advice of other establishments to visit with he kids in mind. The highest praise possible from us all This isn’t a 5/5 - this is a 10/5 place. Real gem of the Lake District and passionate owners and staff make the difference!

Great find in the middle of Bowness for a lunch stop! Menu was a welcome difference to other places on offer, and party of 5 were all pleased with service and friendly staff. Found this by chance and stopped because we fancied something different for lunch.We had the Korean Chicken buns,the jerk chicken and the prawn and chorizo tacos.We also got a portion of fries.Whilst the portion size wasn t the biggest,the food was really tasty and fresh and the selection of drinks is excellent.We even called back later for drinks.A lovely place.

Absolutely fantastic! I came here today (21/7/22) as I wanted something a little different. I wasn’t disappointed! Spot on food, spot on beer and spot on staff. Had to wait for it to be open is the most frustrating thing! Tried twice and it was closed. Well worth it though. We popped in for drinks and were really pleasantly surprised. A fantastic selection of drinks on offer and the beers were great. They were busy, but the owners were so friendly and managed customers expectations brilliantly and ensured everyone was served in order. We didn't expect it to be open because the opening hours on Facebook said it was closed, so if you're in the area, pop by because it may be open. They don't open on Wednesdays because the owners have a 4 year old and Wednesday is family day. How brilliant is that? A fantastic little place and from what we saw, the food looked great too.

Lovely friendly service in a small cafe/bar that serves food a little bit different. We had the jerk chicken over french fries and the prawn and chorizo tacos, Both were extremely tasty and served very quickly. We had lunch with our puppy, Dexter, while visiting Bowness on Windermere. It is such a relief to find so many places to eat in the Lake District that are dog-friendly, as back home in Scotland there aren’t too many….. Anyway, we were greeted warmly and told that we could sit inside or outside with our puppy. Great to have the choice s back home if you can find a dog-friendly establishment, you often have to sit outside. So, for food we had Folk Fries and Angel Fries, both of which were very nice. My partner had a cup of tea and I had an alcohol-free beer (Beavertown Lazer Crush). Lovely fruity beer. Would recommend. All in all, a great place for a bite to eat. The staff were really friendly too.

I had booked a table for family to get some food the night before my wedding after me and my fiancé had been previously and enjoyed everything. Right from the off Paul was very accommodating for our large group and really helped get everything sorted even with a few last minute changes. Everyone had nothing but good things to say about the food, and between us we got through most of the menu, I can say the prawn and chorizo tacos were incredible though! There was a great selection of beers and cocktails which went down well! Paul and the rest of the staff made us feel so welcome and looked after and it was nice to be able to relax, enjoy good food and drink (and great tunes!) before our wedding the next day. My husband and I visited this cafe yesterday 8/4/2023 We were hungry and thirsty but found nothing on the menu to even tempt us to eat. We were looking for a brunch type meal or just a scone as we were in the lakes. Nothing of that type was on offer so we had a coffee. Mine was a latte. This was just warm and the taste was so bitter I found myself unable to drink it. My husband who is a coffee drinker had a black coffee fr wich he had 2 sips and left it. His was so bitter too and worse than mine as he had no milk to even take the edge off it. I forced a bit more of mine down as the extortionate price of £3.20 each made me feel I had to try but the bittoof it coated my mouth for hours and was not eased until we found a meal later. I would reccomend everyone with any discernible taste avoid this place like the plague as the menu is not varied and the prices are out of this world for what you receive. My husband did complain but this fell on deaf ears and customer service was practically none existent

Amongst all the tourist traps in Bowness, this place is a welcome change. Prices feel slightly heavy but we were happy to pay for decent food and drinks, plus the staff are great & very welcoming.

Stopped here for a small bite to eat, we had the garlic bread and maple bacon as well as, the Korean chicken strips which were fairly spicy. We enjoyed our meal however felt the prices where were on the higher end. Staff were friendly.

One of the best meals I've had in the Lake District, from a snacky/burger/lunch point of view. Not many places of the "foodie" ilk in The Lakes so it was great to find this hidden gem in Bowness. Well worth a visit.

Fab cafe/bar with lovely food and brill staff. We had a mix of lunch items, the Katsu Cauliflower and Korean Chicken were delicious! Really quirky, delicious food, attentive staff - what more do you need!! This was a great spot for lunch! Everyone was very friendly and accommodating and my family had a wonderful meal. My brother had the folk cheeseburger and said it was the best burger he's ever had (which is a very high compliment indeed!).
