Folie in City of London, Westminster

Please please dont close! one of my favourites in London. Quality produce , refined cooking, great varied menu, beautiful ambience, professional staff doesn't get better than this in London ;)

It feels like Folie has put too much focus on the decor and not on the service or food. The restaurant is very pretty but the service was inattentive and the food was very disappointing and overpriced. One of our meals came with the parchment paper hidden in it (which they were apologetic about and it was removed from the bill). The linguine vongole was very small and didn’t taste of much.

The food was very average. The service very poor. The wait very long. Pricey. Definitely not worth it.

Me and 4 friends visited this bar last night, we felt the staff immediately judged us. We was made to feel small and unwanted - not to mention rest of the bar was pretty much empty, loads of space. We was told to “crowd round 2 chairs at the side of the bar. So as we stood there they continued to make us feel unwelcome… my partner was standing where they told us to and they told him to move an inch to the left otherwise he would interrupt their service… very strange and petty behaviour. We felt so unwelcome that we finished our drinks quickly and left - the lady who took the payment also tried to accuse us of not paying correctly which in fact we did. I will never return and neither will any of my friends.

Folie is sadly a restaurant we won’t return to again. Our first visit 6 months ago was pretty good so we returned earlier this month. The food was pleasant but the staff were just so poor and lacking attentive service. They were busy but we fail to use this as an acceptable excuse. Other recent reviews seem to share our sentiments

The service in this restaurant was horrendous! We had our evening completely wasted by incompetent staff. No one even came to take our drinks order and after an hour of waiting and asking a couple of times for service we left really hungry and annoyed! there were 3 or 4 staff around the entrance that were bickering. The manager clearly was not coping or managing the staff. Would absolutely never go back

Unfortunately this is a restaurant lost in its own belief that it’s right. A good welcome ,followed by wrong food delivery ,and a reluctance to say they were wrong or sorry. Of course it will continue to do well regardless of my opinion, but I’m going to tell anyone who asks not to bother. Go to Andrew Edmunds instead.

Great style. Great desserts. Main: served the lamb shoulder for 2 to share when we ordered for 3. When you spend £42 per head on a piece of meat, you expect more rather than less (and usually get more in other restaurants). My wife was still hungry and resolved to eat bread with a glass of champagne that was definitely not 125ml… No one asked if we had had enough or were happy. As if “we had to” and it “was a rare privilege” to allow people like us to eat in an upper class restaurant like this… The problem is: we are used to pay for good restaurants in London. What they don’t realise is that I have lived in London for many years and have seen bucket loads of places behaving like this, closing down within a few years or less. Would be a shame. The place has style and a good chef. Not too late to do something about it.

Completely disinterested and inconsistent service from start to finish. Only had one drink because it took 20 mins to be asked (was seated at table) and then never asked again until after my 2 course meal. My food was average and lukewarm. Someone needs to supervise this mess. Still paid £166 for a very ordinary 2 courses for 2 and 1 drink each. Serious rip off.

The decor is beautiful, ambiance was lovely, service was perfect. Unfortunately the steaks were extremely underwhelming. We liked our servers and were in full flow of conversation and didn’t want to upset a nice evening so let it slide. The steaks were thin, dry, and chewy. Stingy portions of sauce were provided. For over £35 per steak you are better off getting a steak at a pub. Would maybe consider going again but would avoid the steak.

At the terrace in the sun facing the garden or in the desig and trendy interior, you can enjoy original and healthy cuisine at Folie. Great wine list. If all restaurants could be like this... To do again... quickly...

What a shame. Place looks great. Evening starts well and then you realise you’re being entertained by a kindergarten project. Entitled staff. Overpriced food that tries hard but certainly wasn’t worth it. Fishy smelling cod… ‘well it’s fish!’ Said the cocky Italian waitress. Mmm… the place then turns into a teenage disco. Visit at your peril!

We went on a Saturday evening and it was a very good ambiance. Although it was busy, the service was excellent. The food was good. However, there is one thing that undermined the whole experience which leaves a sour taste. We ordered a Dover sole for two and then only one fish arrived - the same size as a Dover sole for one elsewhere, what turned out to be three times the price (£ 112 - normal sized fish to share!) of other similar London restaurants. I was expecting a second fish, not that bill. Therefore, this was my first and last visit here. Shame.

I was out with family and friends celebrating my birthday. After lunch we didn't know what bar to go to and all were either booked out or not to our taste. My Dad spotted Folie and in we went. The staff were so accommodating to our large party. They took all our coats and squeezed us in to a bar table. Once the people next to us had left, the staff were straight over to connect the tables so we could all sit down. The drinks are expensive but the serves are generous so you sit on them for a long time. The decor is gorgeous and once it hit about 11pm the curtains were closed from the street to create a more intimate atmosphere. Then a DJ started playing! I love the atmosphere in this restaurant and if I'm looking for drinks in Soho again, I'll know where to go!

Very unfriendly, especially the man at the front desk. No customer service at all. Very disappointed. We wanted to sit outside on a table for 2 people but we were 3 and not allowed to put another chair, which was available.

I went to folie for dinner tonight. My reservation was at 9:30 and they made me wait 30 mins at the bar because my table was not ready. At 10:00 i went to the host and told him that our reservation was at 9:30 and that they were half an hour late giving us our table. He responded “the people before you just finished, I can’t pull them by the hair”…. Beyond rude and horrible customer service. The staff really needs to be better trained especially when they are in the wrong. We booked for 9:30 and we should have been seated at 9:30 sharp as we booked. When we finally sat—we had a rough start but we wanted to have a good dinner, we ordered our food and one hour later it still had not arrived although all the tables around us had arrived after us and received their food. We asked many times where our food is and we kept getting the answer “it is coming” but it wouldn’t come. We came at 9:30 and at 11 we still had not gotten one bite of food. A woman who i think was not a waitress, maybe a manager came to us and was very sweet and apologetic and offered us free glasses of prosecco and told us that they would give us a discount on the bill which was kind and fair so she is a great asset and the only good service I saw at the place so far—however she admitted that our orders had not been placed and that she just placed it. I canceled my order as I had ordered a steak which obviously is very heavy to eat at 11:30 PM.

We were really excited to celebrate Valentine’s Day at Folie but the service was terrible and the food was average. A lot of money spent on a below average night. Will not be returning.
