This Bar/Restaurant when originally The Roxy was of particularly high standard in foodservice and management. When the ownership changed and it was changed to Flynn’s boatyard standards reduced and following a succession of management changes is now very average indeed!

We stopped in for dinner on our way to catch the ferry at Cairnryan. The waitress was clueless when she took our order. It took them 45 minutes to make a starter (breaded and fried brie that the cook had managed to melt all of the cheese out of). After waiting over an hour from when we ordered we ended up having to leave without dinner or we would have missed the boat. The staff was NOT friendly, NOT helpful, and wanted to act like it was our fault that they were running so late. They tried to make up pay for food we never received. The restaurant was filthy, the tables were sticky, the "beer garden with a view" is a rotting deck overlooking a stinking backwater, and there was at least 1" of water (lets hope clean) all over the womens' bathroom floor. This is supposed to be a steak and fish type place, the problem was that they were out of steak, out of fish, and out of burgers. I overheard the manager (owner?) tell the waitress that they had steak pie, "leftover from yesterday".Just gross.

Booked a table tonight (Valentines). Was seated quickly and ordered drinks straight away. Staff returned shortly and the food was ordered and brought out in very good time. Special menu for Valentines was well chosen and very good value for money with 2 courses for £10. We both ordered chicken tempura to start which was brought out in good time and tasted great. My partner had lamb steak for main and I had a cajun chicken burger, both of which were very big portions (I couldn't finish the burger). Staff were friendly and returned to the table shortly after delivering the food to check we were satisfied with it. The only disappointment was being too full for dessert!Would definitely return again. The cheap price does not reflect in the great quality of the food provided.

Dropped into this place, on the way to the ferry. 40+ hungry adults and children, all in a hurry. Staff reacted really well. Took a little while to get first plates out, then moved quickly and all served in good time. Everyone pleased with their choices. The freshest of fish, in a light, crispy batter, was excellent. The prawns and chicken, in a light tempura batter, were hot and tasty.Lovely whole breast chicken burgers, all with hot, crispy chips and very nice side salads. The pasta carbonara was also delicious. No complaints from anyone.A good sign, when a restaurant can deal so well with an unexpected crowd, in a hurry, and have everyone leave happy. Would recommend it to anyone passing through Girvan.

But frankly over an hour later and still no lunch is just taking the piss. When we asked when our food would be ready, we were told 10 mins, only to be told 10 mins later that it would be much longer and would we like to cancel!!! I could not believe my ears! Two very hungry children, my mother, father and sister had to leave with no lunch and find somewhere else after sitting in vain for well over an hour! Needless to say we will never return! The waitress also mentioned there was only one chef on, which I feel she should have been more up front about when we arrived and we might not have wasted so much time! Worst experienceI've had in a restaurant!

I hate to say it but I can't believe this is a restaurant/pub. It has, what should be a delightful outdoor area overlooking the harbour and Ailsa Craig, instead you are sitting alongside bins and fag ends, dirty ashtray and tables. I suggest a few pots containing flowers and regular clearing of tables and sweeping the area. The last twice I was there they had no red wine and no Tennant's lager. It is supposed to be a pub. Flynn's you should be making the most of your close proximity to Turnberry and the harbour and attracting custom.

We were in a hurry when we stopped in to the Boatyard. We were heading for a train and just wanted some soup and sandwiches. For two soups with sandwiches, some standard chips and drinks was well over £20. The soup was edible, but nothing to get excited about. The service was excellent. The atmosphere a bit provincial... if that makes sense? I know they have a lovely beer garden. We didn't use it this time. Popped in here for lunch this afternoon with my friend and our children. Things started well with good service from a nice waitress. The two five year old's with us chose lasagne from the kids menu which was the most disgusting "meal" I have ever seen or tasted! It looked like left over slops that had been scraped onto a clean plate and it tasted like a poor quality frozen lasagne that had been blended!!! The kids didn't eat it and we explained why to the waitress who passed our comments to the chef. When the bill arrived we had been charged full price even though the kids hadn't been able to eat their food. The waitress said she was unable to take money off the bill and said we could speak to her manager. The manager/owner had a terrible attitude, was extremely argumentitive and refused to deduct the kids lunches from the menu. When my friend said she wasn't prepared to pay for their lunches the manager told us she would call the police!!! All over £6!!! It's quite clear that the customer is only right if they are prepared to eat and pay for revolting food! Never again!

After a previous bad review when it first opened, I will admit I have been back a few times and the food has improved a lot. Also the drink promotions are great at the weekend.

After a long 4.5 hours of travelling we stopped in Girvan as we were taking the ferry to Ireland the following day, our lovely host at the Southfield hotel recommended we try here for a meal, and we were not disappointed the staff were so friendly and accomodating, we had the special which was steak and the sauces were amazing we both had homemade desserts my husband had the ice cream and highly recommended it I had the sticky toffee pudding and oh my lord it was out of this world, after coming from Paris and eating a very delicious meal at the Eiffle tower I can honestly say this rivals the desserts, an absolute gem and a credit to the chef.

Went back to this establishment after quite a disappointing visit 6 months back. I was only passing thru for a few drinks. My experience was that there was 2 barmaids on duty. 1 was very good and appeared to enjoy working there. The other was less helpful and gave the impression it was a chore to serve you.All in all slightly better than my last visit but it emphasise s the importance of having and keeping good staff.I used to frequent this pub when it was the roxy and the staff employed back then were excellent with their customer services skills.

Took my daughter here to try for a 3rd time but stupid me should have known better. We have already complained previously and spoken to the management about misrepresentation of menu and also running out of basic stuff ie bottled water send beer. But decided again to try e and just my daughter to give it a last chance. We went on Saturday 23rd of may and my daughter who is 11 ordered the fish and chips and beans option on kids menu. My dinner arrived but my daughters didn't till a member of staff went to another table and took that child's meal off them came to me and said sorry we served the wrong child but it's ok they only took a chip from it or do you want a new one made !!!! Seriously I said no as I was fed up !! My daughter didn't really eat it as it was cold and in her words disgusting !!! My freind who was at another table ordered his bill and paid for it but felt it was dear he looked at his bill and instead of the 2 coarse deal they had charged him the 2 coarse deal for starter and main but had also charged him for separate starters. He spoke to staff member and was refunded for this. But really not impressed would steer away from flynns boatyard.

We booked for 20 people but only 19 were set. Choice of 3 for each course. My starter was chicken tempura. Chicken was over cooked and chewy. Main I had steak pie. Meat part was good. Pastry was nice but I believe had been lying around for a while prior to service. Vegetables were cold and we had to ask for potatoes as there were none on the plate. They came but were a bit under cooked. The service was so slow that we had no time for dessert and we were going to a wedding reception. Not keen to return.

They managed to fit in a table of eight at short notice. The service was excellent, the menu was extensive and with a variety of diets in the group mangled to accommodate all of us. The only criticism is that the servings are too big!!!

Had a lovely family lunch in here today, not overly busy and service was a bit slow but nothing to complain about. This is our 2nd time here but after this experience it certainly won't be our last. Both times have been very good meals and is probably the best place for a meal in the town. I think it is improving all the time. Certainly better than when it was the Roxy!!

Decided to stop by here for a meal the other day. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by a very friendly waitress called Nicole. We're were shown to our table and even though it was busy our drinks were brought to us swiftly. We ordered chicken tempura and the lentil soup. Tempura was nice and crispy and the soup was delicious. For our main course we had the steak pie and the chicken fajitas. Both brilliantly presented and tasty. The steak itself was melt in your mouth. Amazing. We even managed to squeeze in desserts. The cheesecake was the best we've had. Service, food and overall experience was second to none. We will be back very soon. Thank you.

went for dinner this week with my family there was only us and one other family of 4 in.The food itself was not bad at all the service however was disgraceful the girl serving could not be bothered at all and looked like she would rather be doing anything other than serving customers she was actually quite rude.the service was painfully slow and unacceptable.don't think we will be back!

Nice surroundings and the food was good and not over-priced. Staff were attentive and we would try this place again. Only fault I would comment on was the service was slow and the restaurant was not extremely busy otherwise everything else was fine in my opinion.

First time visiting today and had high hopes as I had heard it was a great place to eat. Food was ok, but the service wasnt great. Food fell off the plates and landed over the tables and one of the kids when being served, then we were asked if we wanted it replaced!? Well obviously we do! Prices are decent, dont know if i'll hurry back..service lets the place down
