Caprice in South Ayrshire

I have visited Caprice here in Prestwick quite a lot. One of the local Bar/Restaurants in the area that Mrs M and I would go back to time and time again. Dog Friendly too.Andy and his friendly staff are amazing they look after you as soon as you arrive there are some Bar/Restaurants that don't even do that? The food is great as well as the drink

Just went in for a scone and a coffee and the staff are very friendly and helpful we had a dog with us and the staff got a water bowl and the scones where excellent .

Had our first afternoon out since lockdown lifted. Booked a table on Caprice. Staff were amazing. Food was excellent. Can’t wait to return.

Sat in the sunny beer garden. Staff were friendly and attentive. Place is spotless and clean so no Covid worries. Nice food menu which we will sample on next visit.

Always love the menu here, so we do enjoy going. The service had been a hit or miss recently but after last night I felt I had to comment. We were in as a group of friends and the service could not have been any better! Both girls serving were attentive and cheery and the food great. Sophie in particular was just great. Friendly and knowledgeable! I also didn’t think it was very expensive for a wee night out. Well done, Caprice - keep this up!

We arrived at just stood as nobody greeted to us, we then went to the bar and were told ‘Ill be seeing all of your ID’S’ The guy behind the bar did not have any manners what so ever. We ordered drinks and were told ‘the heineken’s taps no working’ not a sorry for the inconvenience or anything. Then every time we ordered a drink he told us the price held his hand out for the money and didn’t once say please or thank you. The only reason i’ve left 2 stars is because the blonde girl waiter was lovely and so was the food and it made up for the guy behind the bar. It just really let the good place down, he really didn’t want to be there or didn’t want us there.

No one ever need to be afraid to come in here, everything I have been served is of the highest standard, especially the servers. Young switched on capable staff fearless when it comes to making recommendations and deadly when delivering coffees, and drinks to the terrace for us cigar smokers, I would have liked a wee bit more shelter, it's also beautiful out there in the cold and rain. Wrap-up, its cold and wet here in Ayrshire Scotland sometimes. Three cheers to all in Caprice, the only reason that I came in at all was on the recommendation of a valued friend, who I'm very pleased to assess in full cerebral working order, just as I found Caprice, and their keen friendly staff. Hi Jody, and the Queen of merheeba,both of whom had no idea how helpful and kind they were to a weary traveller from Scandinavia. I'm sure I thanked them at the time, but I look forward to the next opportunity which will enable me to thank them again.

Went for brunch recently, the food was fine nothing outstanding but good price and we got a booth to sit and have a chat. The service was hit and miss, one member of staff was not interested in the slightest, the barista was more cheerful and friendly. Would probably come back but not as first choice

This bar has been in Prestwick for years and I really enjoyed going there but over the past couple of years I have been left disappointed. Poor service, over priced for food and drink and confusion over meal deals. Such a shame as the interior is modern and there is use of an outdoor area to enjoy in the summer which was used on my last visit with friends. I managed to get a table outside which had not been cleared and I asked the only server 4 times to clear it, eventually I did this myself. As only one server working it took around 30 mins for order to be taken. Not a good advert to would be visitors to our lovely town. Could do better!!

Have been coming here weekly for years, either to eat or have drinks. But now the prices are very well over the Prestwick average for drink. This is obviously why it's quieter than in the past.

Visited here after calling in advance to check they could cater for food allergies. Another local restaurant chain couldn’t be bothered answering my emails! Excellent customer service both over the phone and face to face, nothing too much trouble. There’s a varied menu with early dining discount before 7pm most days. They also have a good cocktail menu and wine list, not so much choice beer wise. The food was brilliant, nobody in the group had any complaints. Price wise it was a bargain. Definitely return!

Sat in the sunshine in the sheltered beer garden having dinner. Had the nachos to start, good size portion.Then bbq chicken pizza, the crust was thin and crispy, delicious. The service was good and friendly. We had the pizza and wine deal which is great value. Will visit again.

On first glance a huge positive that dogs are allowed here......but let's have some consistency. At times your dog is allowed in the bar area while at other times you are directed through the entire restaurant to the conservatory, with doors wide ooen or outside, regardless iof the weather. This is a lovely bar so its a real shame about this poor treatment.

My wife and i have been a few times now, and after yet another excellent meal tonight i felt it was the right time to properly review.First off the little things:They allow dogs, not everyone's cup of tea, but they have rules around it, and it's nice to see the dogs relaxing and being with their owners while out for a mealOutside area: A place for smokers and people to relax when it's nice weather, it's nice not to have to go out the front door to have a cigaretteAttentive service: From seated to bill a server is there trying to preempt your needs (and are really patient, as my wife is incredibly indecisive)So.. arrived, promptly handed menus and asked if we wanted drinks. Coke and a water to startApt amount of time waited before they returned and asked if we're ready to order (we're not, see above re: indecisiveness) returned soon after, wash, rinse, repeat. Our female server was so nice and patient.Eventually we order. Tortilla Chips with Guacamole and Chilli Oil, Chicken Tempura to start. Burger with Haggis and Cheese, Burger with Chiili for mainsStarters come in a lovely amount of time to chat and relax (and go for a cigarette outside)Tempura: Perfect amount for a starter, lovely crisp batter, very tender chicken, great 2 dips, garlic Mayo and Sweet Chilli, both tasted lovelyTortilla Chips: could see they are just hand cut crisp bread, was very very nice, not just Doritos on a plate. The Guacamole got a huge thumbs up from my wife, although the chilli oil tasted like oil, there were flakes there, but either they hadn't been given time to infuse, or the chilli was far too subtle. But it's a small, innocuous mark on an otherwise great starter Haggis Burger: Absolutely stunning piece of meat used for the steak burger, it had taste, it was juicy, and it was cooked to perfection. The haggis was not overpowering, but added a great twist in taste, the fries were standard fare, not bad, not amazing, but they aren't the focal point, for a side they were perfectly acceptable and got polished off along with the burgerChilli Burger: Same amazing steak burger, with a lovely, thick layer of chilli. Both burger came with the most stunning home made onion rings, fresh lettuce and tomato (my wife took mine as i'm not a fan of either, but she thought they were delicious, certainly as juicy and fresh as they looked)My wife added Mushroom to her burger (not on the menu as an option) we were offered, and accepted, extra sauces for the mains at no extra charge.My wife ordered a drink from the menu which she didn't enjoy (absolutely not Caprice's fault, she was trying something new and didn't enjoy it, the drink was made lovely and it was exactly as described, it was simply a combination that wasn't best for her palette) The gentleman on shift behind the bar asked after our drink choice and when he heard she hadn't drunk it he promptly removed it from the bill. Which we didn't expect, ask for, and we really appreciated. This was a lovely meal out after a stressful day for my wife. We both enjoyed our time there and will be returning. We have ordered something different each visit, the Haggis bon bons are also a must, and have enjoyed it every time. Great decor, atmosphere, servers and food. What more could you ask.Prestwick is full of great eating places, but for us, this is the best place around

Enjoyed a simple lunch here with family. Nachos, flatbread, sandwiches. All lovely. Order three cokes. Came in 330ml glass bottles. £2.95 each. Wow a third of the lunch bill, about £10 for 1 litre of Coca Cola! Watch out.

We dined here on a Friday early evening 2 adults and one child. We found there to be a good choice on the menu and weren't disappointed when are food arrived. Staff were friendly and efficient, overall we thought it was value for money. Will be back.

I was slightly disappointed with the food. It was not bad in any way but nor was it anything exciting. Good fare, decent portions cheerful and attentive staff made up for the good but rather uninspiring food. Nothing wrong her, just need to up their game a little.

I have been coming to Caprice for a while now for drinks and it is the best it has ever been!!

We have been going to Caprice for the last 12 years or so. And we have seen it at it’s high points and low points but for the last couple of years we have seen it really low with the last General Manager (keiren I think his name was) with is dure and unapproachable attatude drove customers away. Well between that and there horrific menu change.

Wee trip down to prestwick and gave this place a try !!!!!!!

My husband and I visited 23/12/18 for lunch . My husband had all day breakfast which consisted of 1 sausage 1 bacon rasher I fried egg 1 slice of toast and a small dish of beans . I had turkey dinner which consisted of 1 turkey slice 2 Brussels 2 mini roast potatoes and carrot and parsnip so hard I could not eat it . It took 45 minutes to come . My husband ( who never complains) said that he didn’t get enough on his plate was told rudely by manager we weren’t the kind of clientele he wanted if we were going to complain about prices !!

Having been a huge fan of Caprice over the years, the menu change a while back, not for the good as far as we were concerned, we lost many of our favourites & decided not to continue going there, favouring the Buzzworks chain of local restaurants. I noticed the FB about the new change of menu last week... When we saw the menu posted, it looked great, a lot of the old style of food was back & looked very appealing. I have to say, from start to finish our experience was excellent! The staff were great, especially the young man serving us, very accommodating & attentive, but not over the top.... Well done Caprice for making these much needed changes!

I went in with my friend for lunch on a recent Sunday. The food was good, but we found the waiting staff inefficient, and one was also a little rude when we pointed out that part of our order was wrong... there were actually 2 errors, but couldn't be bothered saying about the second one after that! They should write down orders, rather than thinking they will remember them!! As I said, the food was good, and as you'll see by previous reviews I do like Caprice so gave them another chance about a week later. This time the service was friendly .... but hardly any food was available.... and this wasn't pointed out to us until we'd ordered, and received, expensive drinks. We tried to order food, and we were told the items we wanted had run out so they'd give us another few minutes... they then returned and we tried to order again and we were told those dishes were also unavailable... we paid for our drinks and left (not before they tried to take a food order for the 3rd time... what were we supposed to order?!). I've had many good times in here over the years, but as it has now clearly gone downhill, I'm going to give it a miss

In for Sunday lunch with group of friends. A lot of dishes were no longer available. Burgers came in a breakfast roll - not what was advertised. Main portion of gnocchi wouldn’t feed a toddler. Some dishes came out 15 minutes after the first ones. Had to go to bar for drinks even though the place was empty. Poor service and food and staff couldn’t care less. On leaving, we saw one member of staff eating a pot noodle at a table in the front. Enough said! Won’t be back.

The bacon rolls are the worse I have tasted. I have been going there for years and all of a sudden the bacon must be the cheapest why not get better quality and charge accordingly. Also the coffee has got worse depending on the server noht a gooddeal.

We used to go at least once a week for breakfast and had recommended it to loads of people but within the last few months the standards have slipped big time! A couple of months ago my wife ordered "homemade" pancakes with syrup, they brought her out 2 COLD shop bought pancakes straight out of the packet! She sent them back and asked for proper homemade pancakes. They sent out the same 2 pancakes heated up in the microwave! That was just the start of it.

We were a party of 5 that dropped by on a very busy Saturday afternoon they staff were very helpful and very accommodating considering we had 1 disabled person with us! Food was delicious and if I was travelling through would definitely drop by 5 stars

We always visit caprice when we stay prestwick. Lovely place always busy. We go for few afternoon drinks it is always very busy and they also sell food. On nice dsy we sit out back in beer garden alwsys look forward going caprice

Came in for breakfast, the 8 of us. Waited over an hour for a cold brekfast to come, with 3 orders being wrong. There was half cooked black pudding and pancakes that looked like they were from a packet. Only after we’re we informed there was only one chef, as she asked if we wanted it re-heated ahah. Then had the cheek to charge us when not one person ate there food. Customer service was disgraceful, will never be back!

A stylish and sympathetic conversion from an old bank has resulted in a spacious bar and dining space, with a light and airy conservatory-style section at the rear, and a small outdoor seating area. The staff are friendly and the menu is varied. There is a good chef here, and the portions are decently sized. The food is tasty and fresh, making lunches a delight. At lunchtimes, the restaurant is seldom overcrowded, and can often be relatively quiet, mid-week, so service is prompt and a leisurely chat with friends over lunch can stretch over a pleasant couple of hours.

Had dinner with some friends, ate from the Saturday lunch menu. Price for 2 course is about average. The pizza I had was really good. Its very large and very thin and very tasty. Staff were friendly enough. We stayed a few hours in the back. I would say that drinks are quite dear though.

Excellent service and food. Loos were up quite a few stairs. There did not appear to be a disabled loo 😩

Menu has been updated since our last visit, much more to choose from and good dessert choice. Had a couple of cocktails and specialist larger bimonthly a very high standard. Nice friendly staff

I visited here for a drink with my boyfriend after dinner one evening. The cocktails we chose were delicious and priced very reasonably. Only thing I would say is when I went to the bar to order them the man asked for I.D. I didn’t have a problem with this whatsoever, nor did my boyfriend although the man made us feel like were 18 when in fact we are 24, looking down at us and in a suspicious manner, nevertheless I would return but would hope for a better attitude from staff.

Came in for a coffee which was great and ended staying for a pizza as the chef made his own gluten free dough. Fabulous pizza, nice thin and crispy base and 2for1! 👌 Will def visit again!

First time eating in Caprice been in having drinks before. Food was a fresh , cleanly presented and well a delight to eat , staff were well mannered and gave overall good service. Only down side is the price of drink, it looks like the prices have went up if I can remember rightly from the last time I was in. Other than that it was present and would be back

Great bar and restaurant with knowledgeable staff and a fantastic range of drinks - the cocktails are delicious! The beer garden is a great place to soak up the sun with a chilled drink in hand!

My husband and I were pleasantly surprised by the quality & choice of dishes.... a very extensive & affordable menu... the staff was very attentive & there was a good atmosphere... we'll definitely be back soon.

Caprice is a good choice for a fair variety of entrees. We had a pizza, very good, and smoked sea bass, which was excellent. I was told the nutella doughnut sundae was very good also, but I was not offered a taste!

We popped in for the Wine & Tapa deal on Sunday, there wasn’t a seat to be had out on the sunny terrace which was (due to the sunny weather) very busy with, well mostly children actually, accompanied by parents.

I live locally having recently moved to the area. Caprice should be great - it’s central, nice inside and spacious which is a big plus given I have a pram. This would be the ideal go to place for food or coffee with friends when I have the baby with me. However I have now had a bad experience on more than one occasion. The waiting staff are pleasant enough and the food is average. However, despite them having a kids menu, sadly the manager does little to hide his disdain for children of any age. I have been in with friends and our group of well behaved kids and was saddened by the way he spoke to us about them after they went to the loo themselves (they were not misbehaving). I have since been in with my newborn in the pram - he asked me pretty rudely to move it from next to our table as it was causing an obstruction.....one other table was occupied at the other side of the restaurant and it was not blocking access to anything in a large restaurant. His manner of speaking to a paying customer was appalling. I had to move it behind a partition meaning if my baby was to remain in the pram I wouldn’t be able to see her! I now don’t feel comfortable going there and wouldn’t recommend it to those wanting a family friendly meal or cuppa. Not a warm welcome which is a real pity and they’ll lose out on custom as a result.

Started off good, as drinks appeared pretty quick, that’s when it all went down hill, waited 20 mins after that to finally get someone’s attention to order breakfast, we then 3 times had to ask when the food would be out to be told 3 different things, almost an hour had past for them to finally tell us they had run out of what we had ordered & it would be out in a shrug 15/20mins, we cancelled & walked out. Not a patch on meridian...

Popped in on Easter Bank Holiday Saturday afternoon for lunch. There were 8 of us in total and were seated upstairs as it was busy. Service and food were great.

I had an amazing gin cocktail and my partner had a set of 3 third pints to allow him to sample a couple of different beers. The bar staff are very friendly and the surroundings are extremely private and comfortable. A great understated place to visit in Prestwick.

Primera visita. Pasado este lugar en muchas ocasiones pero en ver que hay una terraza que pensamos venir y probarlo. Kieran nos dio una cálida bienvenida y nos cuidaron. Holly fue la camarera, servicio de primera clase de ambas y muy profesional. Bien con una visita. Buena comida.

I really like this place, food is great, location is good and they have a superb outdoor area. The one thing that lets it down is the staff. They are sullen and all most make you feel they are doing you a favour. We had to open our own wine bottle and no offer of pepper on pizzas. Generally not a good vibe. Tables are sticky and marked.

Caprice is 10 mins walk from my house and i am lucky to have such a good place so close to home. Their pizzas are up there with the best i have had and there are plenty of other tasty items on the menu - the fish risitto springs to mind. The service is very good and they have a decent beer selection to wash down the food. There is also a beer garden at the rear which is a great wee sun trap on a nice day.

Well situated and nicely appointed this restaurant is a must for food lovers. A family friendly place with an extensive menu of world foods. All the favourites like pasta and pizza plus steaks, fish and chips and oriental delights. We shared a bumper bowl of baked nachos served with a chunky salsa, lashings of guacamole and a mountain of nelted cheese. Enjoyed by everyone. My wife then had Lasagne served with salad and chips, Our friends had traditional fish and chips, that were anything like traditional, just terrific. My son had a stonebaked pepperoni and spicey sausage pizza that was really nice whilst I had a nice portion of king prawn Thai green curry with fluffy rice. A true taste sensation. The drinks menu didn't disappoint either with a good selection of wines and a great range of European and world beers and ciders. My Hitario beer from Japan was perfect with the Thai green curry. Whilst my son experienced a couple of Erdinger beers. All this and pampered throughout by the very pleasant and attentive staff. Our friends in Prestwick are lucky to have this restaurant on their doorstep.

Choose here after not being able to get a table in another restaurant. Service was good and quick, food was ok but a bit pricy for what it was. Burger and Chips was £13 and Ribeye £18. Steak was meant to be rare, but was more medium, still tasty though. Overall is was Ok.

Popped in here for lunch and was well rewarded. The atmosphere is cool and relaxed. The staff manage to have just the right balance between being attentive without being pushy. The food was really good especially the award winning lemon meringue pie! The prices are very good and i came away very pleased. I'll be back

I go in here a lot for coffees and occasionally for food. I went in on Saturday with a friend and her daughter - great food and service. I went in with my husband on Sunday for a cooked breakfast - it was probably the best cooked breakfast I've ever had! Again, service was great. And then we went in again later for a few coffees. I will definitely be back again, of course!

We had a tasty meal, friendly service in a beautiful building, unfussy but really good quality, really enjoyed it.

Had a sit down meal here lunch time. Really good pizza with the thinnest crust ever! The staff were friendly and accommodating. All in all would recommend.

I love going here with friends, we order the tapas, and have a good evening where you can share good food and chat with no distraction of loud music, we can hear each other talk, the background music is set just right. A lovely wee place.

I think Caprice is mainly known as a bar but we went to Caprice quite early for breakfast. The service was excellent, very attentive. We chose the French Toast and Bacon and it was absolutely delicious.A great place to go for breakfast, will definitely be back.

First time at Caprice and we were not disappointed, my husband really enjoyed the wild mushroom and tarragon soup with a large slice of bread and butter followed with smoked haddock risotto which he said was delicious, I had the Chicken Enchillatas served with fries and side salad , which I thoroughly enjoyed . There was plenty on the plates for both of us and it was not overpriced. It is a bright, airy and clean restaurant , the staff were friendly, attentive and efficient. Yes we will definitely be back soon.

Meal with friends inc Kids. We found the menu to be very comprehensive, with lots of choice for all of us (inc one Coeliac). Food was plentiful and tasty.The staff were friendly and welcoming without being over attentive during dinner and they have a wide selection of wine and beer to compliment the meal.Food was reasonably priced.Beer and wine standard restaurant prices..Looking forward to a return visit to choose something different on the menu

Had 2 courses from the £8:95 menu and quite frankly the food was very mediocre and not very appetising. Pate was solid , onion chutney dark and heavy. Tiny piece of toasted crusty bread served on the side. Small portion of lasagne for main with dry chips and a wee bowl of limp salad leaves. All in all not tasty.

Popped in for a quick drink early on Saturday when it was quiet. Really nice bar area with booths and a galleried landing, Staff were very helpful. Drank some lovely Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. Not cheap but a lively wine.Popped in later on when things were a little more "lively". Atmosphere was a little more alcohol fuelled and quite frankly was expecting it to kick off at any time.

Night out for four, everyone enjoyed their food, A good menu with a reasonable amount of choice. Service was very good with minimal wait for food. Excellent choice of drinks including craft ales.

I visited this restaurant with another couple for lunch. There is a 2 course Sunday lunch menu for £12 which was an attraction. Whilst the mushroom soup was more than acceptable the char grilled chicken with smoked cheese was extremely charred in fact it was burnt in places. As if that wasn't bad enough my friends haddock was also burnt. Both ladies had Calum spiced chicken which was not on the specials menu but my wife found hers over spiced. The interior is clean and inviting, drinks were an average price. In truth it's more pub than restaurant, drink but don't eat!

Me & 2 others booked Caprice for dinner, bar & restaurant quite busy - good atmosphere. Food presentation amazing wish I had pictured it and tasted amazing. We had risotto, sea bass special and the most amazing Thai green curry outside of a Thai restaurant! If your eating out in prestwick give it a go you will not be disappointed!!

Found this lovely restaurant on a visit to Prestwick. The Tapas dishes we had were delicious and plentiful.The decor is very stylish and there is a nice relaxing feeling about the place.Holly and Kieran were both friendly and professional. We had a lovely time. Thank you. See you soon. X

Caprice has a nice atmosphere and pleasant surroundings, unfortunately these are spoilt by the mediocre quality of the food. Service pleasant and helpful. Prices reasonable but not value for money. In particular, steak pie lacked flavour and gravy, pasta overcoated with chilli cream and lasagne lacking meat.

Ventured here after the place we were going to go was full. It was a busy night so service was slow. They did tell us before we sat down though so was good they were honest. My friend and I both got macho nacho burgers,my friend had the chicken and I had the beef. We both enjoyed. So even though we never got to the place we wanted to go we still still had a good feed.

The food was lovely and fresh the dish was a tad spicy for me but I might just be a big Jessie The menu had a reasonable selection I have had the pizza from here on a previous occasion which were superbI would recommend this place to try if your in prestwick as it's a lovely place to catch up with friends and is not too pricey

Went on a busy Saturday night with friends. We had a table booked and we're seated early. The savoury crepe ordered was small in comparison as was the surf and turf kebabs. The meals looked like lunchtime portions at evening meal prices. The surf and turf kebabs were dry. I ordered a fruit platter for dessert and could have done better at home. Sliced orange and apples. My friend got a completely different dessert from the original order. A complete disaster and definitely won't be back

A great selection of fresh home made authentic pizza, I had the Antipasto which was very tasty and filling, I will definitely try their takeaway menu which offers great value, no more rip off at Dominos!Grand menu with varied choices and good selection of beers too. The service was quick and served with a smile. We just missed the sun setting but it looks nice in the beer garden too.

We've visted twice this week - had pizzas both times. The pizzas are absolutely delicious. Staff - friendly +efficient. We've been in loads of times for drinks but just recently sampled the food - no complaints at all!

First time in Prestwick with my wife and had a drink in this really smart bar. We had eaten at another local bar but wished we had eaten in Caprice as the food looked great. Will definitely visit this place again.£4 Cocktails on a Sunday. Really good choice of beers.

After visiting Prestwick for a few years now, walked past this place so many times & never been in, until today Went in for a drink nice seated area with outside area, ended up have some thing to eat & was pleasantly surprisedWould recommend & will visit again

Not much to say about Caprice, Prestwick, went for lunch, average, nothing exciting, service was ok,, pleasant enough but won't be rushing back anytime soon. Would I recommend it? probably not, I've had better food at much better prices elsewhere!

Popped in tonight and dined on the Sunday 2 courses for £12 menu. Food is the best it has been in years. We had the calamari to start and then the cajun chicken crepes - both outstanding! We will definitely be back soon! :)Thanks guys!

Came here for dinner with the workmates to watch the Euro. We were not impressed by the staff who were slightly awkward and took ages to serve our meals. They didnt allow us to join the tables and sit together even though their was enough space so we ended up sitting separately. Ordered some lamb cutlets but was told 15 mins later that they had none available

ordered a steak and I think my shoes are probably a lot softer! Service was slow, granted it was a Saturday night. Wouldn't recommend it.

not as busy as other local bars but still good place for a few drinks or meals, preferred their old menu but new one still has plenty to offer, one of our kids didn't like anything on the menu but the chef made her a one off meal so the staff are helpful and aim to please, very clean, ml my wife and I always go in here if we are out for a few drinks

Dropped in for a drink and lunch.The service was uninspiring as the food.We were not impressed by the staff who took an age to take our order for food. It is a lot larger than it appears from the street, but when we got a table the place was not exactly jumping.Prefer a happy smiling staff member that can guide you through the menu. There are plenty of foodie places in Prestwick we will try others
