Flying Fish in Kettering

Arrived 15 minutes before closing today to be told kebab wouldn’t be available for 15 minutes and that it would be too late as they were closing, guy then asked me to step to the side just for a minute so he could serve a different customer. After he’d served that customer he just said “now I have to make this customers burger so won’t have time to make your food”. Shocking service.

Very unhappy with my food! The lady with glasses wrapped all of my food order into one so when I got home everything was all squashed together and not eatable!

Outstanding fish and chips, best in the area.

I ordered from flying fish today and to be told that for 2 sausage had to wait 10 to 15 minutes I shouldn’t of had to wait food should of been ready there and then it was only 5pm

Average chip shop, used to be the best around, not sure what happened? Batter is tough, mushy peas are neon! Chips are ok though. There's far better chippy's around now unfortunately 😕

Great food loads of food good value for money

Went to get supper close to closing time for 8 people. Chips were passable so was piece of fish but the battered sausages ended up as just plain sausages although we paid for battered and the chicken fillets were totally inedible they were dry overcooked and basically not fit for a dog. Would not recommend going there.

Really great chips. All shapes and sizes perfectly cooked. Lovely sausage and batter, cod and curry sauce. Lovely staff, make you feel very welcome.

The food we got was amazing. Fish tasted lovely and fresh and chips were perfect and piping hot! Definitely will be coming back.

sorry been going to this fish shop for many years and I must say tonight 19th Dec 2023 was the worst fish and chips I have had its a shame but will be looking else where

My wife is the fussiest person in the world, bar none, when it comes to chips. First visit tonight, we live miles away in ketterin'! 😄 The chips were perfect.

Unlike most in BL I have given the new owners the benefit of time to adjust and sort out some teething issues, always bound to happen when taking over a well run business, however I’m SADDENED to say that they have not learnt from their mistakes. The food received tonight was cold, as it had been prepared at different times and not kept warm, portion sizes have diminished, and the service is poor. It used to be such a friendly well oiled machine but it’s, in my opinion, a shadow of its former self. Poor show.

Having been a customer for some time now, (& usually have this as a treat for my Son on access visits) we have noted a slow but sure deterioration in the enjoyment of the food and now the awful way in which it is run by new owners. I am not suprised at this as Burton Latimer has really poor attitude towards customers and public alike in general. Tonight we asked for the usual food among a crowd who had already ordered everything that was not cooked (Typical locals) So having ordered and paid, we thought it simple that we got our food and could go - No ! We waited and waited as more and more orders were expidited from the huge list they had taken ahead of our arrival. Our food was there staring at us but wait and wait we had to. The staff seemed very disinterested and manifested itself in all areas of the machine they were destroying - a once great place. This was the very last visit here for us and we seek alternatives for future takeaways. Also way too busy to even apologise for such a wait for the food we could see in the hot area that we had paid for - SHAMEFUL PEOPLE !

Piped in late last night we had 2 piri chicken kebabs they were the best iv had there for ages. Very friendly staff and service

This chippy used to be good but now have new owners and the quality is very poor. Won't be using the place again.

Every time I went in there, the owner was very rude ignorant, overpriced for small pieces of fish. I will not be going again.

Great variety, great service, great prices and breaded fish needs 24 hours notice. Cannot be beaten and worth going out of your way to fetch their food.

My 11 year old daughter was hungry and asked if we could grab her favourite of Sausage Chips and Curry sauce. Not knowing the area we were in google took us here. Very friendly clean and reasonably priced. My daughter stated that this was the best sausage and chips she had ever eaten and the curry sauce was to die for! I had to have a taste and she was 100% right. Next time we are in the area we will without doubt be going back for more. What a great find.

I go there quite often and all of the staff are kind and it is an overall good chippy. Me and my family love it there.

We are regular customers & enjoy their food. However extremely disappointed in the staffs reaction the other day. A gentleman came in with his very well behaved toddler. He ordered a big order & asked if he could possibly just have 3 chips for his young daughter. The staff would not even look at him apart from the girl at the till who totally refused & tried to charge him for a full portion!!!! Where has the generosity gone in this world.... just 3 chips!!

Cod in batter was awful! The batter was that thick it was inedible and the fish crumbled as you put a fork into it. Suspect it was not fresh and was frozen fish.

Katsu curry box, was delicious. Takes a bit longer, but worth the wait.

Service good , chips good , haddock tasty , the batter was terrible, stodgy and pudding like.

Has its up and downs with service. Too many locals wading in and ordering ahead of those queued patiently waiting so the rude folks get preferential treatment ahead of folks with manners. Food is ok.

I have recently moved to the village and have found it a charming experience. I have found there are some great outlets in such a small place, however this is not one of them. Placed a medium sized order and took it home to find two of the pieces of fish that I had ordered and paid for were not included. Went back to complain that the order was not correct and was basically called a liar by two of the members of staff. Will not be frequenting this establishment again. Will be posting similar reviews of this business elsewhere. Not happy.

Absolute dreadful portion sizes. Chippys are famous for giving generous portions, not this place. A large chips would normally feed about 4-6 people. We recieved a portion that wasnt enough for 2. Also the size of the sausages are about the size of a thumb. Wont be back

No large fish but the medium was superb. Hot, fresh and really good. Staff were great and really good Suze portion for the money. Highly recomnended

Had the fish and chips previously, this time went for the Peri chicken box and it was excellent. By far the best chippie in the area.

Can always recommend The Flying Fish. Great service, lovely food and generous portions. The staff are always friendly and go out of the way to ask how I am, never had an order that was wrong and have always enjoyed the food... So have my husband and son and they are picky when it comes to a good chippy!! I know that anytime I suggest going here for dinner (if I don't fancy cooking)... The answer will always be yes!!

Never been to Burton Latimer before just working down there however probably the best battered sausages I ve had from any chippy

Ripped me off charged me £7 for a drink and 2 regular chips, ruined my day. Staff are rude and didn’t even put my salt or vinegar on it, proper annoyed won’t go there again😘

proper stuck me chops round a donner wrap then a tikka one and enjoyed smashing a pot of garlic mayo like a proper savage well done flying fish outstanding... i even cryed a little bit once it was all gone 😢

Friendly, quick service with a smile and no request is too much trouble. Always a little queue....but that to me speaks volumes!!

The food is amazing, not just your average chippy. The chips are very good quality but the fish is sensational I cant explain how nice the battered fish is. If you're reading this you have to try it. I also had a grilled chicken and halloumi wrap which was very nice as well. If I lived local I'd go there regularly.

Very happy with our fish and chips tonight, the gluten free fish was lovely and all tasty fresh and not greasy.

One portion of tasteless chips for £2.90.(not large) Social distancing works however not behind the counter 5/6 people working virtually on top of each other for 3 customers generally..

😡😡😡 Stood in chippy for almost 10 minutes waiting to order to be told that they didn't have what I wanted :( 6 staff and only 1 serving, the rest to busy talking to everyone else,,, maybe its because I'm not a regular customer,, won't be going there again....

If it wasn't so expensive I would go more often. Needs some local competition to bring the prices down from orbit!

Usually everything is fresh and delicious. Tonight the food had obviously been reheated or at least been sat there for a few hours. The batter was tough! Very disappointed.

First time here. The boneless chicken pieces were delicious! Chips were plentiful and cooked to perfection!

My go to for fish and chips! Such a variety on the menu and I love that they have a good range of burgers too. There is something for everyone here! The staff are always so welcoming and remember you. Good old fashioned local family run business. Fantastic.

Excellent fish and chips and value for money

Ordered Haddock (has to be pre ordered) and they would not take card payment, that's fair enough. Asked to get the order ready whilst I went to cashmachine. When I got back (a few minutes later) they said I will have to wait whilst they prepare the order. A little trust goes a long way. Cancelled order, won't be using again. Respect is a 2 way street.

Racist staff never been friendly seems like I'm the wrong colour for them I've lived around the area for almost 5 years you can feel the bad vibe from you enter the shop. My partner said the same thing he's gone to the shop a few times and recently had enough and asked why it was that every time he got his food it was never in a bag (again he's clearly the wrong colour for them!) when everyone else did they gave him a funny look put a bag down on the table and said here! He walked out and looked back only to see the three members of staff giving him funny looks and whispering amongst themselves. It's the same three girls that work in there so rude and ignorant. I will never go back and will definitely not recommend it to any of my family or friends!

This is a great local Fish and Chip Restaurant in Burton Latimer that has one regional awards for the quality of its food and service. I cannot recommend this place highly enough - great food every time, always served with a smile!

Great local fish & chip shop, does a bit more than just fish & chips and the normal stuff. Staff always very friendly and efficient. Can be a bit of s long queue on Friday teatimes in particular but worth the wait. Very generous portions!
