Came here whilst on holiday in Jesmond. Fantastic service, nothing was too much trouble even though we changed their menu slightly! Food was delicious

Fantastic food at a surprising good value for money. When you walk in this place looks very high end. Don't be put off. The food is certainly high end too. What isn't high end is the very reasonable prices. Most dishes fall into the £15-£25 mark. Very tasty indeed. Recommended are the pate, the tomato garlic bread, any pizza of your choice and of course the pasta (this one is with chorizo and king prawn). Easily missed so don't walk past, do pop in. Authentic tasty Italian food.

I’ve resorted to writing this review from the perspective of someone who briefly worked here. Despite the staff and the owner agreeing to compensate me for the hours I’ve worked, I still haven’t been paid. They may try to deny it here. I’m not sure if cash in hand is legal, but the motive is probably to under pay staff. I was required to work the job of two people and overworked. If anyone is planning on working in the kitchen please avoid doing so. There is no one to talk and set up payments and work hours professionally regardless of the role. They just need bodies to do the labor. Even if people resort to working this way it is not ethical and there is a minimum wage per hour and NI number for that reason. Despite me providing these details, I was still not paid and my messages and inquiries ignored.

Nice Italian food and just the right portion sizes. Prices are reasonable. The seecing staff were good. I'd be happy to come here again.

Lovely restaurant with great pizzas and pasta. Service was a bit slow but we enjoyed the food. The prices are reasonable and we had a nice bottle of wine for under £25.

Me and my boyfriend discovered Florence by accident and OMG I am so glad we did. The food was absolutely out of this world - mussels were so fresh, the beef carpaccio was unbelievable ❤️ the lobster pasta was the star of the show - totally blown away. Whilst the initial server seemed nervous and got pur order wrong - this was made up by the other server who was dead canny and couldn't do enough for us. Loved it so much I booked a table for my birthday before we left. Really couldn't reccomend enough total LUSHNESS ❤️

As a group of friends we stayed in the Osborne Hotel and booked the Florence restaurant for evening meals twice. The service, food, and atmosphere first class, thank you to Steph and Alex and all the staff.

Visited for the first time yesterday, and I was very impressed. Beautiful food and very relaxing atmosphere. Steph, our server, was very friendly, attentive and went above and beyond to ensure we had a pleasant visit. Will definitely be going back.

Visited as part of a large party, so service could have been better. Food good......seafood risotto was excellent, but garlic bread starter was no better than average. Would visit again however.

Steph is the funniest best server!! Great retirement party great food as well couldn’t ask for better

Food was ok but overpriced. After paying used the toilets and saw a mouse - will not be back!

Very overpriced, my friend saw a mouse! Would not recommend. Also I was severely unimpressed by the management team, my server was clearly stressed and upset, which affected our experience. No fault to them, the business should take care of their staff better to ensure this doesn’t happen anymore. Please take better care of your staff and customers will see this reflected in their service!

Best carbonara outside of Italy

Went last week, the food was pretty pricey but tasted very poor quality. The owner seemed to be pretty frustrated at her own staff, the 2 that were there anyway. seemed to be pretty understaffed, but that’s understandable considering the way they seem to be treated. the actual waiter was very hospitable, which is why this isn’t a one star review.

The kids pizza looked really good. The chicken was a bit 1990. I suspect there was parmesan in the tiramisu, my daughter also thought so. Dosa, an Indian restaurant, is just round the corner.

I've been to many restaurants and meals maybe over 2k over my time including TV chefs. This restaurant has got to be the best I've been to, while on a Tuesday night. Ice bucket for lemon and water without requesting. Service from the right side. Cheesy garlic bread to share and both had fish main course. The wrapping of sea bass was amazing, often I don't see it on a menu. Best meal I've ever had. Well done to chefs and FOH staff.

Amazing place, very tidy. Great service and very attentive. Food is lovely, the waiter we had was libby, very keen to make the visit more pleasant and does the best to her ability in serving customers. Will be coming back.

We booked a tae on December 31st here at Florence and we specifically wanted to order from their New Year’s set menu they had on the website however when we showed up, we were informed that that particular menu was not even available which was quite disappointing so we ended having to order from the usual menu. We ordered a “Biscetta 8oz rib eye steak” and a “Filetti di Spigola sea bass fillet grilled in foil with shellfish” and some starters however the steak was absolutely awful as it looked like frozen steak from a supermarket and tasted more like a fillet than a rib eye and the sea bass dish was served in a very watery sauce with no taste and the boiled vegetables that came with it were so crunchy and looked like they’d just been boiled for 10 seconds with no seasoning or taste either. When we brought this to the waiters’ attention, they offered us some complimentary drinks however we waited a good 20 minutes for the drinks before we had to walk over to the bar to find out why it was taking so long and found that the drinks were just sitting on a tray on the bar! It seemed that they were understaffed as the service was rather slow throughout the night however the staff were nice and atmosphere was nice but unfortunately the whole experience was very unpleasant as it was a special occasion and our first (probably the last) visit to this restaurant.

Table booked for 8 people, with contact details left. Travelled two and a half hours for a birthday celebration and when we arrived the restaurant was in darkness, completely closed. No call, no warning, no sign or explanation - just closed. They had my number, they had every opportunity to warn us, but made no attempts and we were travelling over 100 miles. Thankfully Saray Turkish Grill House up the road could accommodate and the food there was fantastic.

Terrible experience, meal didn't turn up, blamed chiefs for getting confused and forgetting a meal (£30 fillet steak) was offered a free beer?? left the restaurant without a meal, the front staff were very disrespectful towards our family when confronting staff regarding our discrepancies regarding the bill (additional items added) was told "its only a glass of wine" (which cost £9) blamed us for splitting bill which caused confusion. Staff (female) confronted my 75 year old father as we were leaving as he apologised for opening the door and it banging, the "female employee" said "not sorry for the way your daughter spoke to me?". Honestly one of the worst experiences we have had and not surprised they have changed their name several times. Avoid. Edit in their response: Even thought my meal never showed I was extremely pleasant to the staff serving. I had nothing to say to the staff so this once again is a lie, the staff claimed we had to ask to split the bill before we ordered and now claiming we argued? and asked to split the bill later? Both false and lies. Unbelievable they're arguing on their reviews now and shows the kind of service you will be expecting if you go.

The food was delicious and the service excellent! The pizza is a must! Best restaurant in the area.

We ended up in this restaurant by accident, and it was such a nice experience. A true Italian cousin, amazing atmosphere and very good service. Totally recommend and I will definitely go back!

For the prices they were charging, I expected more generous servings. Unfortunately, the taste of the dishes didn't make up for it either. I don't recommend!

What a super place to stop , the Caledonian Hotel that is ! The bars and restaurants down the street were superb , definitely a place to go to ...

A fairly pretty but minimalist and dull decor inside. The pasta and starter lacked much flavour, but the pizza was very nice. Avoid the wine list - they charge £24 for Rosé that is just £6 Echo Falls Wouldn't come again, but worth a visit for some pizza.

Good food great service and good environment

We had a beautiful meal here last night. This is a lovely restaurant. The food was delicious and the staff were exceptionally friendly. Our waiter very kindly left my niece (also called Florence) a voice note in Italian complimenting her name 😊 I couldn't decide between two starters so they upgraded the special starter to a main course for me. I would highly recommended if you are in the area.

Lovely Sunday lunch, pizzas and pastas. Excellent lemon tart for dessert. Good service and reasonably priced.

This place served us supermarket white bread as a starter for £5. Both the carbonara and lasagna where microwaved and pipping hot. The bits of lasagna where soggy and the pancetta was chewy rather than golden and crispy. Would not recommend for the price you pay.

We booked for lunch at 1pm arrived a little early and they were still getting the restaurant ready so we had a drink outside. Not much atmosphere but that's because we were the only ones in most of the time. Food was delicious though and would definitely return.

Third time visiting and we’re not disappointed! Service is always so timely, despite being very busy. Food is so tasty and generous with portion sizes and the pricing is adequate. The garlic bread is a must. I tried the seafood pasta this time and couldn’t believe how much seafood it actually contained! Staff are also lovely and the atmosphere is so nice. The tables are nicely spread out and the seating is cosy with a nice dim light. Highly recommend

Recently celebrated my birthday here, the food was amazing and the staff were all very attentive. Great value for money as the portions were perfect and we all had a wonderful time. Will definitely be back soon!

Outstanding food, service and atmosphere, doing the simple things well, quality thats it in a nutshell, quality. We have just been back tonight 18.02.23 and i cannot believe the change, the food was mediocre at best, a certain item was taken off the bill, the main course which i have had three times previously was well below par, i doubt very much we will return. Not impressed better restaurants out there for the same or less value.

The tastes. . Fabulous food. Terrific service and a lovely ambiance. Not cheap but affordable. I rarely have three courses nowadays but couldn't resist here, and never regretted a single mouthful.

Booked a table for 6, very much last minute. The restaurant is part of the Osborne Hotel with limited parking spaces. Slight negative. Even though we arrived an hour early our table was ready for us. The cocktails, beer and barolo were spot on. We ordered starters and mains. And all 6 of us had no complaints at all. The food was served promptly, good portion sizes and reasonably priced. If we are in the area again, we'll definitely be paying Antico another visit. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for great Italian food.

What has happened to this place? After about 10 years we have sadly had to finally give up on our one-time Jesmond favourite after one too many below par visits. Slow amateurish service, below average food for the price, lack of any management direction or control and failure to honour booking promises, I could go on and on. Sorry guys, but we’re going back to Francesca’s to stand in the queue and save our money!

Service at Antico was absolutely perfect. Staff were on top form requesting if the table needed any additions or drinks. Food was delicious and well presented.

Staff attentive and friendly. Found the tomato sauce bases very tangy which spoilt my meal somewhat but overall it was a pleasant experience

Fabulous food, lovely surroundings & good value.

We discovered this restaurant by accident yesterday but we are really happy we did. Very delicious pastas and desserts. You can dine inside and on the terrace. The waiting staff was also very friendly and helpful. They were checking on us regularly with smile and they were not persuading us to eat more. This was not only a culinary but also a real Italian dining experience. Their pasta portions are the right size for hungry people. If you need some good food after walking in Jesmond you have to visit them.

We went around 2.30 the restaurant looked really nicely decorated the staff were superb and the meals we had were delicious, it was our first time there and not the last😋also very good value for money. We chose from the "Early bird menu 😋

Restaurant that immediately attracts your attention, the cuisine although influenced by English culture, remains quite tied to the Italian tradition. Delicate and well balanced dishes. In particular the cooking of the pasta was very good. Excellent customer attention, a little less variety of wines. By the way it's a great place to dine.

Dreadful service, they couldn’t get you off the table quick enough. AVOID there are plenty of other great restaurants in Jesmond without having to use this one.

Absolutely stunning experience. The food was so fresh and the seafood was amazing. The Sea bass special was out of this world. The manager managed to get us a table a short notice and the service was brilliant. The staff were very warming and welcoming. I will be coming back. I would 100% recommend this place to anyone looking for a classy evening
