We had last night 1 cod and 2 haddock all with chips, 1 large chicken kebab , 3 mushy peas. Fish was excellent, light crispy butter and tasted great. Best haddock ever had. The kebab was very delicious. Very tasty and big portions , Excellent and fast service. Been customers for 8 years now but the new people are the best!!!

Really disappointed with the fish and chips that we had today. It was a surprise as this was our favourite chip shop in and around the area.Under new management such a shame as John the previous owner had it spot on.My haddock was greasy as hell and had a awful taste. The pickled onion obviously had been in the jar for years. My misses had cod which was tough and chewy.Top it all we both had belly ache all night.£15 quid well spent there. My main problem is why has the new owner changed things when it clearly was never broken. The search for another fish shop now goes on.

Ordered our fish & chips through telephone on Good Friday. There was a very long queue when I arrived. Waited for more than 30 minutes to pick up my order. Didn't see John and his wife that night, so I thought they might have been on holiday. Turned out it was a new ownership.Food: fish size was reduced roughly 15-20% by eye, and they were all overcooked, batter was extremely dark and very hard; despite the fact the queue times were already overrunning, they found the need to overcook everything! As a result, fish was chewy. They compensated the reduction of fish sizes by giving us more chips, despite there being a generous chip portion beforehand. We were utterly disappointed as we were Flinders' customers ever since we moved into the area in 2013. We really rated Flinders as the best fish & chip shop around, but now we are buying our fish & chips elsewhere as other people have done lately as evidenced by the greatly reduced queue on Saturday nights. We would hope Flinders to go back to its previous owner's standards because as it stands, we're not coming back.

Under new ownership. Ordered kids kebab meal & a standard kebab. Initially told there might not be enough then was told yes we have enough so I paid my £10.50 & waited for 5 or so minutes. Another man came in and ordered kebab and scraps which he was served by a different girl immediately and then I was told they didn’t have enough for me. But if I come back tomorrow I can have it on the house. Really disappointed as had driven over 6 miles and to top it off I didn’t get the curry sauce for my lads meal and his coke bottle was out of date. Really used to be the best around but now it doesn’t even have the manners to serve people properly never mind being in date. Sorry to say this John as I know your legacy would not have been this! The irony is I’m hungry and have wasted an hour for nothing. It’s a real shame as used to love Flinders.

Had Saturday tea in their restaurant for 2 weeks now - excellent! Generously sized medium cod - extremely fresh. Piping hot tea and Patsy’s chicken breast cooked just right. Very reasonable pricing as well.

We have had fish & chips from here a few times and although it’s definitely not the worst, it’s not as good as Jaks, the other chip shop in the village. The staff at flinders are friendly and welcoming but the queuing system at busy periods can become very confusing with people having placed orders with the friar stood around waiting and the staff can get muddled. The chips are really good but the batter on the fish lets it down.

Decided to try Flinders again, this time to eat in.Place was busy both takeaway and seated area, service was on par with the demand.Food was cooked really well and 3 clean plates from us.Must say that the haddock was excellent. Will go there again after this 2nd chance visit, my first review was not very complimentary, but always worth a second look.

Whenever we are in Donington we visit this fish & chip restaurant. We didn't realise it closed at 2pm so we actually hung around until it re-opened so that we could eat there. It's not a big place but the food is superb and the portions are huge! My medium piece of fish nearly hung off the plate and was very thick in size. The staff are friendly and the food is piping hot. You can park in the car park opposite and walk across. My husband and I highly recommend this fish and chip restaurant. The takeaway part is always full of customers too, which is a good sign.

We had heard good reviews of this fish and chip shop. Had to book a table in the small attached eat in restaurant. Served by a really lovely young lady called Robyn who was very friendly polite and attentive. All four of us ordered different meals from Yorkshire fish cakes to cod and also haddock. All served at same time with tea and bread and butter . All red hot freshly cooked and the best we have ever eaten, and we’ve eaten plenty !!!! Good size portions to say the least, very competitive price and most importantly absolutely delicious. The staff and owner are totally committed to ensuring you are pleased and happy with your meal. Yes this is basically a fish n chip shop and restaurant with a varied menu however many an upmarket establishment could learn a lot from all at Mathew Flinders. Both in preparation and service. 10/10 EXCELLENT.

We nipped in here at 9:20pm the other night as they were clearing up ready for closure. We assumed that we would order whatever was left at that time. The staff were more than happy to do us fresh fish though so that was really good. I had fish, chips and mushy peas and my girlfriend had fish chips and curry sauce.

Popped in 7th January evening. It was a Saturday night so it was expectedly busy. They had run out of fish apart from what they call mini fish. It certainly isn't mini. Mini fish, chips and curry sauce and it was lovely. Exactly the right amount of food for me.

The local "Flinders" fish and chip shop/restaurant is opposite the village square, with its few local shops, pub and car park. Named after the famous explorer Captain Flinders and his cat "Trim" who originated from this village. Statue of "Captain Flinders and Trim" opposite shop in the corner of the car park.

We started to use Flinders when our regular Fish and Chip restaurant in Sleaford burnt down. The restaurant offers a about 6 tables and is quite small. Staff from behind the takeaway counter serve in the restaurant however, service is quick and efficient. The food is good, hot and well proportioned. The fish batter is excellent.

Fish and chips for under a fiver, so cheaper than our own local, but the size of the portion is something else - the fish is huge - and unlike most other chippies they helpfully keep the fish separate, as opposed to just chucking it in with the chips. Very good chips as well, highly recommended.

This is one of our local fish and chips shops and the chips are better than anywhere else we've been. There's always a longer wait time here than other chip shops but they do tend to cook things fresh to order so it's worth the wait. Sausages are not on par with the other village chip shop though.

I was introduced to Pacey's when I moved here by a friend who's a Spalding native. Since then, it's become a regular meeting place for us and we always look forward to the announcement of each week's cheesecake flavour! Can't speak highly enough of the quality of the baking and friendliness of the staff - you really get the sense here that it's not just a café, but a real cornerstone of the community.

Stayed here for 3 nights whilst working in the area.. what a beautiful place. The Mash Tun room was quirky with everything you could possibly need including a tranquil garden to the rear. The bluebell inn has a proper country pub vibe, amazing food and the lovely family that run it really make you feel welcome. Can only wish my stay was longer!
