Flamingo in Basildon

Five friends wanted to meet in a central area, and we decided on Billericay. We wanted an easy lunch and decided on Flamingo, which had been recommended. We didn't opt for the afternoon tea - do remember that you have to book for afternoon tea. And, the delights being served up looked fabulous, as did the hot chocolate! But, our crowd opted for sandwiches, ploughmans, a crispy lentil bake, a jacket potato (with Coronation Chicken) and a chicken/bacon/avocado salad. Everything was absolutely delicious - no complaints whatsoever. We all had two teas/coffees per person and the bill came to around £17 per person. We were there for well over 2 hours. We had two lovely servers, who were delightful. The venue was packed and people were being turned away ....... so, again, please book. The menu is quite extensive, which was pleasing. We loved it and will definitely return. Thank you.

We visited Flamingo for an afternoon tea, a gift card tea from the family, and were very impressed with the quality and freshness of the sandwiches, warm sausage rolls, scones, and dainty cakes. Clotted cream and jam completed the picture. Everything was home made, and the presentation with vegetable trims and exotic fruits, set the whole scene for a pleasant afternoon. Earl grey tea and a flat white coffee were also included, although we had to pay for a refill coffee. Service was great and personable.

Me and my husband went here for a cream tea using one of those vouchers. We thought it was delicious! Lovely service and just the right amount of food. Don’t understand the negative reviews regarding the voucher cream tea, we thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you!!

Visited Flamingos today for afternoon tea with my daughter in law and it was lovely. Food was excellent, service was brilliant very bright and clean. Definitely recommend a visit we will return.

Sadly, this was a disappointing experience for afternoon tea and does not offer value for money in my opinion. The sandwich selection was limited and not to the standard I expected and the sausage roll was served cold. The main disappointment was that you order an individual (1.5 cup) teapot at the beginning but only when you need more tea to be able to swallow the scones and cakes are you told that this will be an extra charge. The young front of house staff were polite and pleasant and offered to check with their manager whilst apologising. The manager did come out at the end when it was time to pay. We queried the small portions and she explained that if using the buy-a-gift voucher, you will get a smaller version of the afternoon tea than on the menu. This is something to be aware of if planning to utilise your voucher here.

very average and disappointing we used a buy a gift voucher which we had been saving , we got couple of finger sandwiches each just two different coranation chicken and egg mayo , peace of sausage roll ( was best thing on whole afternoon tea ) very small small sponge cake and a chocolate brownie each that was it for cakes , and they had some lovely cakes on display in shop but we didn't get any of those , and a scone each which was large but very dry , we had to ask for cream for scones as it didn't arrive mistakes happen i get that , but all in all have had far far better and not cost as much so all in all very disappointing as we were really looking forward to it as it says homemade cakes but what we got was just average and not much of itfor the money will not be returning

Beautiful looking and tasting afternoon tea, lovely staff and delicious food. The extra bits from a standard afternoon tea were a nice touch.

Myself and my partner attended for brunch and was severely disappointed with our experience.. after a bit of a wait I ordered eggs Benedict with poached eggs and some sausages on the side … my food was served cold, the eggs were overcooked and hard and no sausages were served … my partner ordered porridge and toast and to be fair everything was fine with her meal … when the bill came I was charged for the side yet it wasn’t served …. I wouldn’t recommend at all

We visited the cafe using a Buy a Gift Voucher and booked on the day. On arrival at the cafe we stood for a while at the counter without acknowledgment from the member of staff and were then shown to our table. We were not asked if we had any dietary requirements or food allergies. Tea was served in individual pots which gave 1 1/2 cups each . Afternoon tea consisted of 2 coronation chicken finger sandwiches each, 2 egg quarter sandwiches each, a barely warm sausage roll each and a bite size quiche each. Cakes were 1/2 serving of Victoria sponge each, a small cupcake which we shared and a chocolate brownie each . We each had a fruit scone with cream but no butter option and a small jar of jam each. I asked for another pot of tea which we were charged for - the first time EVER I haven’t been offered a top up free of charge. Totally underwhelming experience and I wouldn’t return.

We used this lovely tea rooms for a private hire on a Friday evening for a surprise birthday party. Emma the owner could not have been any more helpful. We had cakes made for our guests and the brownies and Eton mess tray baked were a hit Fantastic location in the high street and venue perfect for a smaller party size ( we had 35 guests but could have comfortably fitted a few more) tables for sitting and plenty of space for a dance Highly recommend to anyone looking for a party venue.

Very friendly Staff offering good service. Very pleasant Coffee and a nice unique feel to the place. Will visit again when next in Billericay.

We went to a party at the weekend and the food was provided by Flamingo. It was excellent and this was from someone who usually hates buffet food. The sausage rolls were to die for and the birthday carrot cake was excellent too and I make a good one!! The sandwiches were nicely presented with high quality fillings.

Popped in for coffee and cake with my elderly mum. Staff were very accommodating and the homemade cake was absolutely delicious! Loved the decor and relaxed atmosphere. Varied menu and quick service considering how busy it was. Will definitely visit again - lunch nd prosecco next time!

Great selection of seasonal sandwiches, cakes, scones. Plenty of choice, no skimping on the clotted cream. Excellent coffee, all presented beautifully and take away boxes provided. Best cream tea I’ve ever had.
