Five Guys in Gateshead

Probably my favourite for fast food, good service always freshly cooked and very nice. Can't fault it apart from being a little on the pricey side, but I guess you get what you pay for.

Awful experience waited 20 minutes for my burger, for them to say they have lost my order. Weren’t apologetic about things and quite frankly rude. Manger didn’t care, and didn’t want to be there. Won’t be going again.

Always decent, those complaining about the price don’t get this place, you pay for the freshness and quality. Always loads of chips so you can share, staff are normally proper generous and if you’re lucky they’ll give you an extra cup if there’s two of you and you just order one soda. Never had a bad meal in any Five Guys and the staff at the Metrocentre are great. It might be an expensive burger but it’s 100% worth it. And the milkshakes…. 🙂‍↔️

Have just been metro centre ordered 3 burgers 2 chips 3 drinks £60 had 2 send 2 burgers back as not cooked service was terrible food was horrible will not be back ever again

Hot. Tasty. Fresh. Quick meal as was busy so nipped in for a Bacon Cheeseburger and Fries and refillable drink. £20 and worth every penny.

This is bacon blasphemy at its finest! I don’t know who’s idea it was to cobble together a milkshake containing bacon, because it certainly does not work and my night has been ruined. Furthermore, i was appalled by the blatant false advertising as there were only 4 staff in the kitchen (only 3 of which were guys). My disappointment is immeasurable and to top it all off I had to use 3 straws to finish this amalgamation of vile slop. I will certainly not be back here any time soon and I warn anyone else who plans on visiting. The only positive that can be drawn from this disgraceful visit was that the service was hasty. >:(

Hello readers, I visited this unique establishment today. Despite the name ‘Five Guys’ there was in fact not five guys here. I ordered the NEW pistachio milkshake. They had no pistachio. I don’t understand why FIVE GUYS do not stock their new popular menu item, I was severely disappointed. However, I ordered anyway and decided on the Peanut butter and chocolate. It was excellent but the disappointment from not being able to try the pistachio overshadowed this. Overall, I have rated the milkshake 4/5. Thank you Five Guys

They serve the best burgers in the universe. I’ve been here many, many times and it’s still the same taste and quality. Rebecca F. is the best staff member I’ve ever dealt with in all Five Guys branches in the world!

Ordered 14/2/24. Walked past this place a few times so I thought I'd pop in and order a single cheeseburger by itself just to try the place out for a quick snack. Waited 25 minutes for my number to be called out. 25 minutes!!!! There was about three people already eating and one other person waiting for 2 burgers. The place was almost empty let's say. I'D HATE TO BE THERE WHEN IT WOULD BE BUSY. While I was waiting one of the staff 'out of about 6 behind the counter' was being timed to get a order put together and placed at the collection point 'by management I assume'. Just over 10 minutes was her time. Which leads me to wonder why I had to wait as long as I did, after seeing that timed order come and go and still having to wait longer. Plenty of other staff looked busy but I don't know what for as they only had to produce 3 burgers between me and someone else. Unfortunately this is not good enough and I shall not be returning, the burger wasn't too bad albeit over priced but not worth the wait. First impressions are important enough for any returning customers and with the vast amount of other places within the metro centre food court five guys need to up their game.

Five Guys seems popular so we decided to give it a go. The ordering process is chaotic and unorganised, just numbers being screamed by unhappy staff. The environment is okay, but very cheesy and cleanliness is questionable. I’m not a fan of having to get your own drinks, makes it difficult while balancing a burger! The food itself was a massive letdown. The burgers are messy and despite the quality ingredients claim, we’re tasteless. I couldn’t eat it and was disturbed to have a pink burger. Fries were just thrown in the bag, overflowing and very messy. They were so mediocre and basic, little taste. Customer service is appalling. Sure, our burgers were refunded, but didn’t enjoy meal so didn’t eat the chips so should have got it back. Manager very informal and laughing at us complaining. Customer service department is just as bad - arrogant attitude believing they know best. I’ll never return, massively overpriced, disgusting food, attitude and a mediocre environment. Definitely just a trend, probably wouldn’t survive without.

Nice burger, well cooked plenty of toppings choice. Proper chips Only downside very expensive, nearly £30 for 2 burgers 2 drinks and 1 fries. Will be a rare treat.

10.00 for raw burger not leaving them cook long enough as busy not an excuse absolutely disgusting could feel the texture of rawness

It's expensive but it's good. A tip if would he to share a drink as its free re fills, and share chips. Me and my daughter got 2 small burgers, 1 regular chips, and 1 regular drink. It was £25 and still had chips left over. They throw loads of chips in the bag.

Well worth the price, for a chain Resteraunt, their burgers are amazing. Add to this that you can fully customise your burger and the portion size of the fries is insane.

Meal for 4 at a fast food chain for £50 4 burgers 1 portion of fries even though we asked for 4 I'm glad we only got one as they were far to salty soft drink was flat and watery table was a messy on arrival I had to wipe it down before the food was served however the burger was fresh and enjoyable Sorry but I won't be a returning customer as you can get better quality and lower price from a local independent chain

Waiting to pick up my daughter from work and the noise from here is just ridiculous. It's like being inside a night club at full pelt.

Decent burgers. You get loads of chips.

Obviously it's very expensive but this time it wasn't quite as good as usual, not very warm and bacon is pretty bad

I love a Five Guys, and normally I can't fault them, but this one wasn't the best, the food was great, service was lacking, order was wrong, small thing asked for cajun fries got normal, but, and it's my fault, I didn't go back and ask them to change, I was too hungry, so the service scores low, but the food the usual high score, even if they weren't the cajun fries I'd asked for.

Good food as expected, was a treat and didnt fail to deliver, cost wasn't to bad but for a treat you have to have some luxury every now n then

Called in for snack food OK sound bit expensive for 2 hot dogs n milkshake but was nice

Didn't fancy a burger really and had initially gone to Slim Chicken next door, but somehow they had managed to run out of chips! While my daughter had her tea at Slim Chicken (she doesn't like chips), I ordered from Five Guys online to collect. When I went to collect, the person serving said they would be a few more minutes (didn't even realise they were being slow to be fair) and offered me a cup for a complimentary drink. Great service and a very enjoyable burger (and chips).

First time at Five Guys. Heard lots of hype about it so gave it a try. Bought 2 burgers, 1 chips and 2 drinks.... £35. I wouldn't have minded if it was worth it. Bland, greasy burgers in cheap buns. Loads of fries in the bag but VERY salty, so they weren't eaten. Absolute waste of money. Go to the Chinese buffet opposite for better food and value.

Food was over priced. Cost 35 pounds for 2 burgers, one portion of chips snd 2 drinks. Chips had way too much salt on and the burger was just awful and really cheap tasting. Will never go back. Rather go to McDonald's.

Food was nice for what it was but it wasn't amazing. I think it's a bit overpriced especially since it was £30+ for two burgers, one portion of chips and two regular drinks. My son enjoyed it which is what matters but don't think we'll be making regular visits

This was my first time trying 5 guys burgers, heard lots about them and needed to see if it was true. It was very true, this is quite possibly the best burger I have ever had,

Very over rated burger place that could do with a makeover as it’s getting very dated now. It’s also very expensive for a meal that’s no better than a McDonald’s. In fact a McDonald’s burger doesn’t drip out lots of burger fat like my Hamburger did. The price is also extremely expensive! for £43 we received 1 x Hamburger, 1 x Cheese Burger, Hotdog and 3 cokes. Save your money and go to BK or McDonalds. On a good note the staff were really helpful and professional and our table was clean. Safe to say will not be returning

Food was good and fast, even when the place was super busy

The burgers are lovely but massively overpriced! Especially since you have to wait a while and listen for your number, then collect it yourself. I felt a bit hustled at the till when ordering, too. If you don't like over-salted chips, make sure you ask for no salt at the till or be prepared to have a mouth like Ghandi's flipflop! My daughter likes the burgers, but I'd rather not have to remortgage the house to feed 3.

Tell uber eats to do one, they are toxic to your demographic

This place is a regular fast food joint who do really nice comfort foods. However, I particularly like one of the servers because he goes above and beyond whenever I visit. I don't know his name but he has to be one of the best I've ever come across when it comes to customer service. Once, my son had left his toy in the restaurant and he came running over to me to another restaurant to drop it off to me.(We told him we were taking the chips to Wagamama). He's a credit to Five Guys and a credit to himself. Give him a pay rise.

Average food, way overpriced, music's a bit loud, so because they don't have a digital order collection display, you may not hear them shouting your order number.

The best fast food you can get prices are on the high side (paid £55 for 3 burgers, 3xchips, 3drinks and a hotdog) and accessibility to tables with a buggy was hard but overall 4 stars.

Brilliant experience, staff are all so helpful and friendly. Lady who served us was very pleasant, even said if you run out of fries just let us know! Young man working there automatically ran over to move chairs around for my Mam’s wheelchair. When we asked if it was ok to get a few more fires, he insisted on getting them and came back with a bag full! Food was lovely, fries too die for and the milkshakes are very well prepared. We especially loved the drink options, Dr Pepper Cherry Vanilla mmm. We will be back soon,. The burgers are a bit pricey but now we understand don’t need to buy fries for everyone it makes it much more reasonable. We will be back soon as the atmosphere was lovely, nice to see people enjoying helping customers with smiles on their faces. Five Guys should be very proud of your staff here!

Beautiful food and prepared quickly. Not cheap but you know what you're getting.

W visited as we had out Niece and nephew and they chose this place . My wife is vegetarian so opted for the grilled cheese with everything except obviously the bacon , so you can imagine what she felt like when she bit into it to find Bacon not once but even in the replacement. This meant that because i helped her out my over expensive burger was cold by the time i came to eat it !! . The staff were ok although the whole set up seemed to be a bit of a mess. The restaurant was very busy but the organisation was poor and there was a clear lack of leadership When i contacted the customer service in regard to these issues the person replying seemed to be somewhat indifferent , not until the second reply did i get offered a burger voucher worth squat diddly in regard to the £25 we spent for a ruined meal so we certainly wont be hurrying back to the brand and if we do visit it is unlikely it will be the Gateshead branch

The food here is just the best, the burgers, hot dogs n shakes are the best in the area.

Strawberry milkshake to absolutely die for, and regular hamburger with lettuce pickles and onions two beef patties was a fantastic treat.. can't wait to go back and do it all again!

Over priced for what it is over 18pound for a sondon burger and rotten chips. Ya have to que to get ya food and wait for ya number to come out like a bloody cheap take away .for 18pound I would like better and I will never go back. First and last time in a five guys . Over priced rubbish.

Minus one star only for the high presence of salt in chips. Please Five Guys. Think about people with High BP. I know people themselves should be careful but high salt intake should be a choice not compulsion. Apart from this all good especially milk shakes which had bits of real strawberry.

Called in with my grandson. We are both veggie but enjoyed the veg sandwich and find it a plus that you can choose toppings rather than them be included automatically. I do find it a little expensive. Staff pleasant and helpful.

Got to five guys put our order in. There was no one else in the que it wasn’t busy. Half the drinks were out on the machine. No where to sit as every table was scruffy. Slim chickens wrappers the lot. Burger was dry- not the usual five guys standard. Chips are usually a mega portion this was literally just the tub no extra scoop. Had to clean our own table. Was plenty staff it wasn’t busy absolutely no excuse. Definitely would not recommend for kids or a family. Customer service is the worst I’ve ever received.

Friendly service and fine burger and chips. Takes a while for yoir order but worth the wait. The young woman who served us at the till could not be more helpful.

The normal default rating for a chain restaurant is 3 stars however, Five Guys gets two stars Burger and fries were good, however it took 11 minutes from order to service which felt pedestrian. The cost was also similar to what I paid at Honest Burgers in central London the previous month. It certainly didn't feel like it offered value for money for the meal.

Yes its a little bit expensive but is it worth it? Absolutely. Damn near drooling thinking of those canjun fries and spicy jalapenos on my burger here on my sofa.

1st time in Five Guys. Wanted a quick lunch so chose this place. Guy on till was very helpful and full of advice. Food was delicious. A little more pricey than your other burger places but definitely worth it. Even the cajun chips😋. Don't order too much as quantity is generous. Definitely be visiting again.

Everywhere has vegan options these days so when my mate wanted five guys I didn’t even check as I never usually have a problem anymore getting something. Not a single vegan thing on the menu!

We are still in Five Guys as I type this but the customer service we just received from Marc was amazing, he seemed so passionate and happy about his job, giving us great service and even taking the time to explain why your mayo is so amazing as well as talking us through the ordering process. It was a genuinely lovely experience and you should be proud to have him on your team.

Can sometimes be super busy but always fast service. Nice staff and helpful with any questions. As always they overloaded our bag with fries so only need one medium portion for two people. A bit pricier than maccies but much more worth it.

Food was lovely however I ended up ill from an allergic reaction because it wasn't clearly advertised that they use peanut oil for cooking.

Popped in for a burger and fries at lunchtime and it is by far one of the nicest burgers we have had.

I love the burgers and hot dogs here, not to mention the salty fries! Yum. Can be a bit frantic when busy and you have lots of options to customise your food but worth it.

Service in this Five Guys is always exemplary. Staff always patient and happy to explain how the menu works and are happy to give advice and recommendations. On top of that the food is always delicious too. Superb

It was OK, not sure what I was expecting but it was OK, a little pricey for what we got.

Fabulous experience and burgers. Staff were so lovely and helpful - guided us through our first time ordering and explained to us how the free toppings worked. We loved the way the drinks machine worked! You can filter by sugar-free and caffeine-free easily and the top ups are unlimited. The burgers themselves were fabulous quality and really delicious. Unfortunately we did not have the chance to try the fries but they looked delicious too. We will certainly be back to try the other menu items.

It was nice having a taste of home (US). Everything offered at the US Five Guys is available at the Gateshead Five Guys.

So having been the first time at 5 guys on recomendation from friends . I have too say I was disappointed with it . The meal it's self for 10 pound was not worth it felt like paying only for a name of a company and not a decent burger . To say how much was spent and they used cheap cheese slices was the biggest let down the fries were very tasty the milk shake was decent but also had better for cheaper . Not somewhere i will go again .

Lovely food and fantastic staff. So friendly and helpful. Good delicious and place spotless. My son left his wallet there and when we ran back around 20 mins later they were waiting with it behind the counter. They even tried to find us. Great place and people.

This has never been a cheap meal but it is a real treat. Believe it or not, I had a hot dog! Anyway, my 11 year old boy loves the food and I have to help the wife eat all the chips. Happy faces all round, despite my wallet feeling much lighter! Oh, the milkshakes make it for me. 🏆

This was our first visit to Five Guys and I'm afraid to say, I just don't see what all the fuss is about. On the plus side, the staff were great but that is as good as it got. The burgers themselves were pretty tasteless, in a soggy bun, and the fries, although there were plenty of them, just weren't crispy at all. To be charged almost £30 for two burgers, two fries and two drinks for the quality on offer is scandalous too.

The burger was close to perfect and the chips from here are always the best. For a fast food place, they are slightly expensive but you get what you pay for and the food here puts other burger places to shame
