Fantastic FFF, a group of us rode out to Hunstanton for fish and chips, this place looked busy and now we understand why. the tastiest chips and the best crispy batter on the cod. We all said that this was the best fish and chips we had eaten all year. We will definitely be back

Overpriced and greasy fish. For the price one would expect it to be much better, or much bigger than it was.

Chips and fish were lovely,but need to work on the batter it was thick and hard and tasteless, more batter than fish ,there were lots of people eating there but noticed people throwing the batter in the bin.it was cheapest chippie around.wont visit again.sorry

We very much enjoyed the fish and chips here; the fish was good quality with a seriously good batter, the chips properly cooked. It was certainly as good as anything we tried elsewhere in this corner of Norfolk. Staff were friendly and the service was good. As others have said, not cheap but worth the money.

Visited yesterday, very quiet with not many people in the cafe/restaurant area and no one seated outside - made me worry it would be awful but the rest of the family had decided it would be fine. Food was lovely, cooked nicely and tasted nice. The price was disappointing however for a family of 4, £42.75! However, not massively uncommon based on its seaside location. I found the male member of staff a bit off, rushed and completely uninterested despite there being no other customers waiting to be served. Outdoor area could have used litter picking and some tables wiping down. Probably wouldn’t return but tolerable visit.

We tried the fish and chips here for the first time today and they were the best. The fish and batter was cooked to perfection. The chips tasted excellent, we had never tasted such delicious chips and we eat out quite often. Also the staff were friendly and fast service too.

Visited on a Saturday very busy so had to wait a short while. It was worth it. This chippy is probably the best in Hunstanton. There is another one that a lot of people rave about but this is just Hype. The Five is the best

Had lunch today and the fish and chips were cooked to perfection. We sat outside and whilst the tables were weather worn they were clean. Inside it was spotless and the cost was reasonable. Wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant

We saw the queue but decided to get our fish and chips from here anyway. Glad we did! Very tasty, freshly cooked, not too greasy and well managed and organised. Typical prices. Not huge portions, so it meant there was no waste. We enjoyed these on the beach, watching the sea. Perfect end to our day in sunny hunny!

We’ve eaten here three times over the last two years and each and every time the fish had been cooked to perfection, the chips are decent and then the kids likes the fish cake and the chicken nuggets.

The chippy seems ot have it covered, in one door,one at a time, wiping the counter between customers ,friendly staff and very tasty food and also reasonably priced. Will return!

Very well set up for social distancing, for seaside fish and chips this wasn’t as great as we’d anticipated.... slightly too greasy leading to overly soggy batter. Maybe it was not their best day as others have reviewed it more highly .

I cannot fault the quality of these fish and chips - the fish was huge and tasted fresh and despite my concerns, social distancing was well managed.

We chose this chippy randomly and were certainly not disappointed in the result. From the first bite it was clearly better than a previous meal from a nearby restaurant. Well done. Totally happy.

We came to Hunstanton for the evening, usually would go to Castaways but we’d got there too late so thought we’d try somewhere else, unfortunately these chips weren’t nice at all.

Usually get fish and chips when in Hunstanton and this shop is the best in the whole town now great value good portions and always hot.

We sat outside on a chilly but sunny early March lunchtime with the dog and enjoyed some of the nicest fish, perfectly cooked, that we’ve eaten in a long time. They even bought out a bowl of water for the dog, which was very much appreciated. The chips were pretty good too. We will make a beeline for this restaurant the next time we’re in Hunstanton.

Me and my wife visited here many times before without a problem until today 1st January 2020, shop was busy, we was served at the till promptly, given order number 108, cod and chips twice, during the hour we waited for food I asked 3 times where our food was as people that had same food served after us had received their food.We was told first time we had eaten our order, my reply was why would I still be waiting then, second time of asking I was ignored and 1 server ran out to move his car, 3 time of asking was sorry I forgot you, you are next, Surely at first time of asking and you have said you hadn't had your order, you make sure that person's food is served straight away not leave them waiting at least 20 minutes after that point. Other than that the food was great.

Over the whole ‘restaurant week’ event that was on during our stay in Norfolk, I’m disappointed to say, that we thought these fish and chips were the best food (although hoping for better experience at the Hoste tonight). The fish was not greasy and it was all piping hot. We have wasted a lot more money on fancy restaurants this week. I guess everyone does fish and chips differently throughout the uk, so bound to upset a few reviewers but we enjoyed them. Nice suntrap outside in the afternoon too.

Visited on a Monday lunchtime. Had cod roe, mushy peas and the best chips I've tasted in ages. Delicious and great service.

Ordered chips from here then asked if I could read the ingredients on the ketchup to check for allergens for my daughter. I was immediately barked at by the guy serving that his chips have dairy in them?? and its all cross contaminated anyway?? Totally ridiculous reaction in todays society.

There is seating both inside and outside. The chips were very good (and hot) and we enjoyed sitting outside and looking at the sea. Good location.

Today we went into this fish and chip shop and ordered 2 saveloys and chips TWICE. The man serving repeated the order, we told him AGAIN what we wanted. He said “I know. You told me.” In the rudest manner. When we were waiting for our chips, it was the last of the chips, they scraped about a handful (if that) into ONE SIDE of a small tray and then shrugged their shoulders to another colleague and then filled the space with a saveloy. Upon looking at others chips, they were filled to the top and a saveloy on top. For £2 worth of chips, we had roughly 10 chips. I was absolutely fuming. And to top it off ... the rude comment from the man serving about our order, it was wrong.

Greasy tough chips, tasted as though the oil needed changing expensive seaside meal. Customer service non existent. Don't bother walk a little further and go to Fishers for a proper fish and chip meal

Called into this cafe/restaurant on a flying visit to Hunstanton....the restaurant wasnt busy but looked clean...ordered my food which was hot and freshly cooked...very tasty and filled a gap

It was our last night and I just couldn't visit Hunstanton without going to have fish and chips there. The smells that come from there when you walk by are just delicious. We all had fish and chips and my youngest had chicken nuggets. Mmmm we all ate everything. We ate outside, it is very basic, but delicious

Reheated chips, fish overdone and when I looked at the Gherkins in the jar there were mouldy. Expensive too.

Driving along the coast we decided to stop in Hunstanton for fish n chips before heading back to our hotel in Kings Lynn. There was no particular reason for selecting this chippy other than it did have an area of pavement seating with views out over The Wash. Had a 5min or so wait for our orders to be cooked and so at least it was all freshly prepared. However, I wasn’t impressed with the chips which appeared to be the the “scrag end” of production, batter was unappetising and to be frank there wasn’t a great deal of fish underneath - not forgetting the useless plastic cutlery. To be honest I expected better.

Prompt, freshly cooked, friendly and great value. Big order for school children was no problem for FFF. The team worked hard to accommodate all our requests at the same time as dealing with a very busy lunchtime rush. Great value. Thank you.

Popped in for lunch. Allergen information is not displayed so I had to ask the staff. Staff were quite abrupt and didn’t seem to want to help me find something I could eat. Chips were ok but sausage was gristly and not great. Overall I was really disappointed.. Wouldn’t return..

We visited this chippy while we were in Hunstanton, It was your average chip shop, there was nothing special about it.

Went to Hunstanton today to celebrate my wedding anniversary and as Sally’s shack was closed we had to go here instead. We can see why we haven’t before, the fish tasted like it was out of an Iceland freezer (the shop not the country), The chips were harder than the Brexit negotiations, at least we got to be served by Ed Sheeran...stick to the singing mate!!

The chips were nice but the fish was only ok, the batter was flabby. You can easily get better elsewhere.

It was busy when I went. Staff were all working very hard and were polite.

Lunched here today, sitting outside as we had the dog with us. Ordered fish & chips and scampi & chips with mushy peas. Got out my card to pay and the young lad behind the counter just pointed at the card machine on the side. No "thank you" passed his lips. Food was dumped on the counter in open trays. I said yes to having the food wrapped as I couldn't possibly carry 2 trays, 2 cartons of peas and a drink bottle. At least wrapped, I could pile them one on top of the other. Unwrapped though - no fork included. Went back in to ask. 1 fork was produced. I explained I had 2 meals and was aggressively told "fork for fish only". So basically the more expensive scampi I had ordered doesn't count. How you are supposed to eat mushy peas without a fork I do not know. I could have had a second fork if I had paid for it, which having just spent £16 I was not inclined to do. Settled for a tiny, flimsy fork available on the counter appalled at the really poor attitude. Interestingly I overheard some ladies at a nearby table complaining about the same thing. To add insult to injury the food was barely average, despite being in the middle of a seaside town no better and possibly worse than some I've had from high street chip shops. Little care shown in the food, zero customer service. If you're ok with that, great, if not I suggest eat somewhere else.

Clean, bright place with friendly staff. Chips are freshly cooked and some of the best I’ve ever had! You can eat outside on clean benches overlooking the sea or inside. 5 star chips!

I know this is a seaside chippy and not silver service, however I would expect a fish & chip shop to be able to produce a decent fish supper.

Had spent a couple of hours looking round the sea area and fancied lunch. Popped into here and ordered food from a nicely turned out young gentleman. All food was cooked to order so it was pipping hot and tasted absolutely fantastic.

Fantastic food and having an allergen list on the wall was great to see as our daughter has a dairy allergy and was able to have a wonderful lunch

Our first visit and we were not disappointed. We had cod and chips and a bottle of pop each. As the weather was fine, we sat outside to eat our meal.

Had to wait a few minutes, which was okay,but the fish was poor quality and very greasy. Quite surprised to see that they were offering PLASTIC forks instead of normal wooden ones.

We ate our fish and chips outside near the hill with our dog it was lovely. We have not got a decent chip shop near where we live so it was a real treat.

We ordered cod and chips and two cold drinks and one pie came to £20 !! I thought this was over priced ,so I paid and expected something nice ,chips were craggy bits ! And greasy ,fish soggy so I guess it was just frozen stuff ! Batter not bad but definitely not worth the price ,the kiosks on the front are better for much less ! Wouldn't bother again, I don't mind paying if food worth it ,in this instant it wasn't!

Normally go to fishers but took advantage of no queue here. But disappointing. Sausage very small and chips not great. Service friendly though.

Just popped in for lunch. Jumbo battered sausage pretty terrible, tasteless greasy white sausage and better was just poor and lifeless. Chips ok, curry sauce ok but mushy peas undercooked. Fish looked average and again, poor batter. Shame. Won't be back.

Stopped for a quick lunch...expensive and having to eat with cheap plastic forks. Hard to eat mushy peas with these forks. I asked for a larger fork and was told these were only supplied with fish & chips. If you want to keep your customers, then treat them better. Food ok, not the best.

2 fish and chips, 1 saveloy and chips and 1 nuggets and chips, everyone happy. Sat on the covered seats in the gardens across green ( rain threats) Some of the Other reviewers must have been unlucky or had higher standards than us! We went back a few days later for evening takeaway, again meals ok. Service was quick and friendly enough.

It is a hobby to review fish and chip restaurants. This one is typical of the greasy batter, inedible chips type only with unfriendly, unhelpful service as well.

If only I had managed to get my wi fi to work I could have found better fish and chips in Hunstanton. This was a 2 out of 10. Three of us had fish and chips and I had mushy peas. The Fish was cooked in a batter akin to that served up in frozen meals and the chips albeit okay were a tad greasy. The mushy peas were severely undercooked and had the consistency of bullets. The fish had absolutely no taste whatsoever. One establishment to scratch for the list. Will definitely research before I go next time. dd to this the 25 pence for a sachet of sauce.

Visited whilst on a day visit to Sunny Hunny ..... with the family, so feeding 4 of us ..... Tidy looking establishment ..... on entering welcome by 2 youngsters behind the counter ... Pleasant to deal with and prompt to take the order .. Food was served piping hot and fresh out the fryer ..... nice food and a very pleasant experience .... only a few niggles .... the forks supplied are very small and plastic .... not great and not suitable for the job ... Another thing was condiments .... When I’m paying £8 per meal I expect this to be supplied ... 25p per sachet ..... only small gripes ... will gladly visit again .... might even bring my own fork ....

Called in for lunch after a walk. We have been before and it was good but this time although the staff were pleasant enough the meal was not piping hot as you would expect. The fish was nice but the chips were cold by the time we finished. Next time we will by from one of the many takeaways along the front who are also cheaper.

Yrs, we had a little wait for the fish to cook but it was totally worth it. Sat outside in the sun having a conversation with another family. Great end to a great holiday. Batter crispy and fish was delicious. Would recommend!

Visited as a family on a Sunday in July and this has to be the worst fish & chip shop i have every been in, not only was the food awful the staff were so rude oh and its not cheap!

Stopped for lunch, it was lovely and hot and we sat outside. Table was very dirty which we had to clean ourselves. We ordered two fish and chips, sausage and chips and 4 drinks. It was around £23 which I thought was a lot, it was a small portion of everything too. It all fit on a small tray each. Despite the cost, the produce was tasty and the view was good.

Whenever I go to Hunstanton, whether for the day or for a week I always have to go to Five Frying Fish. Tasty, local food with no frills. I have been outside in the cold with my coat on and in my shorts in the sunshine. Well worth the stop off. Tasty fish and chips and my son loves the chicken nuggets, a good size and very tasty.

Good quality seaside fish and chips at a fair price with indoor and outdoor seating options. Food order taken quickly by some very pleasant and polite counter assistants, and piping hot tasty food served very quickly. I opted for simple cod and chips but there were plenty of options for meals to suit adults and children, including plaice, hake and rock fish. The chips were soft in the middle and crisp on the outside, with white flaky fish cooked just right in a really nice crunchy batter. Clean place, with tables cleared quickly when vacated so that you weren't having to clear away stuff before you could sit down. Overlooking the Green and the seafront

As locals who live just round the cost, we often spend our summer evenings with a bike ride to Hunstanton. Tonight we arrived to find our usual chip shop closed so we gave the Five Frying Fish another chance.

Chips were rubbish bitty and scrappy black and portion tiny. Curry sauce watered down so much I thought it was dish water. Service was rubbish grumpy and disinterested.

after a day out on a beach in a near by village we decided to head into Hanstanton for a fish and chip supper. We called in at this fish bar as it seemed really popular. Good points: food was cooked fresh and there were a lot of people there, there was quite a lot of seat/tables inside and out. Down sides: Not the best food we've ever had. Chips were over cooked and greasy, fish (haddock) was nice but too much greasy batter. drinks are a bit over priced. A bit of a disappointment when you think that a sea side town would be better then the one in your home town but sadly no.

We had fish chips and peas for 2 and it cost over £15 for a poor a quality product.

We were looking forward to having fish and chips on the sea front on the last day of our holiday but ended up eating here inside due to the cold weather.

Visited here with my step daughter & her 2 young children who both have egg allergies. The staff were very helpful & there is a detailed chart on the wall which lists the ingredients of the food served. This meant she was able to quickly chose something suitable for her children. The fish & chips were really good & we will visit again next time we are in the area.

We had one rock and one cod both with chips. Two bottles fizzy drink. Bill was just under £20.the food was nicely cooked. We ate inside.it was clean. Was surprised that no toilets on site

The restaurant itself looks quite no-frills, but the welcome you get as you walk in the door is second to none - the guy on the till when I visited on Tuesday was welcoming every customer as they came in and thanking them heartily as they left.

Not cheap, nor cheerful. This seafront chippy is quite basic, with a stark interior and plastic chairs and tables outside, and blank-gazing staff who seem to be expert at shovelling more than serving. It is such a good position to capture a vast audience of hungry visitors to the seafront, but it doesn't try hard enough. And the food? Unmemorable I'm afraid.

Some of the best fish and chips around, always visit here when in Hunstanton. Fast service, and great food...

Very nice fish and chips which we sat in and ate, service was quick even though it was quite busy. Quality of food was spot on and the service was really friendly and helpful, not overbearing but far better than I expected from a fish and chip shop. Took small children and they were comfortable (high chairs available) and enjoyed it too. Although I didn’t share my fish and chips with them...!

Good service, reasonable prices, nice battered haddock and good coffee. Clean surroundings and nicely laid out. What really let the place down was the awful chips - many hard small chips plus a few long soggy chips. This place could easily achieve the top rating if their chips matched the quality of everything else.

Popped in for some chips, got 2 large portions and by god they were large! Couldn't finish them no wonder they were £2.95. Nice tho
