After paying over £21 for a meal from five fortunes I will never be going back. Prawn crackers tasted like they’d been cooked last wk and chips seemed to be warmed up after cooking earlier. Not good. The chicken and sweetcorn soup was gloupy and was curry sauce. The chicken wings were edible and was chicken fried rice, but not to a good standard. What has happened to this place. It was always lovely. Gone right down the pan.

£4.80 for curry and chips would rate 0 stars if I could NEVER BUYING from here again not the first bad experience. Curry EXPLODED all over bag, floor, leggings and phone. Curry disgusting chip were burnt and stale . Worst financial decision I have EVER made. Never had an experience like this. Wouldn’t recommend this to my worst enemy!!!!!!

it was a cold and gloomy monday evening when i found myself quite peckish, i stumbled across five fortunes and thought it might make for a tasty treat. i entered the building with my 3 accomplices to be greeted by an atmosphere that can only be described as claustrophobic and uncomfortable. my fellow peer has suffered an ankle injury due to a fall over a chair ignorantly placed in the doorway. i approached the counter and asked for 2 portions of curry and chips, to which i was horrified to find out it was a total of £9.60, making each portion £4.80 each. i simply cannot justify this and think that this pricing is downright appalling and disgusting. to add onto this, as i left the establishment i was mortified to notice the curry dripping down my jacket, my bag, my phone, my hands, and my expensive leggings. i then revealed the chips to be BURNT, stale, and downright disgusting, i could not bring myself to eat them. all in all, this experience has been nothing but upsetting, disgraceful and honestly i have never been so upset. ruined my birthday evening, leaving me in tears as my birthday dinner now remains in the bin. thank you for nothing five fortunes, do not waste your time or your money on this horrendous business.

Just paid 3.80 for a portion of chips which wouldn’t feed a mouse! They are brown and look like they’ve been warmed up even though it’s 6pm on a Sunday night. Would rather have some frozen chips than waste my money going to Five Fourtunes.

Disgusting service ordered at 6:30pm and it’s just turned up at 8:10pm food was freezing and delivery driver told me she had been on loads of other deliveries first while my food was sitting in her car I rang the shop at 7:30pm to be told my food had already left……..what should of been a 3 minute journey from the shop took 40 mins!! *******AVOID ORDERING FROM HERE******

I always visited this place as it is close. Since the takeover of management, the quality of food has declined but the prices have increased somewhat. I rarely visit now.

Had a terrible dinner from here Saturday night. Chips burnt and cold, peas awful, the sausages looked like came straight out the packet they were that pale, the gravy worst thing I've tasted and left horrible aftertaste. The fish and curry were OK but curry bland. Wouldn't normally bother reviewing but it was that bad 👎

Completely gone down hill this place. Raised their prices but lowered the food quality, what was ment to be salt & pepper chicken was burnt and covered in back bits nuggets thrown in a box with a few onions....for the 2nd time. Another local & loyal customer lost for them this evening. Wont take long to shut down the way things are going.

I would say the food coming in 10 minutes or less is a good thing, but from five fortune it meant undercooked sausages and chips, along with rice that was overcooked and seasoned with too much soy sauce that it became a stuck together mess that tasted only of salt. Would not recommend to anyone

I really wish that I could give this restaurant 0 stars, because I've been left absolutely gobsmacked by the disgusting service we've received. On Monday evening, my partner and I ordered a £23 takeaway through the Just Eat website and it never got delivered. We tried calling the restaurant, but, by that point, they had closed. They are also closed on Tuesdays, so we weren't able to contact them until Wednesday afternoon, when they reopened. I spoke to a man on the phone who told me that the order had been cancelled (although we didn't receive any messages from the restaurant or Just Eat to say that it had been cancelled) and to contact Just Eat directly, to request a refund. It is now Wednesday evening and there has just been a knock at the door. Our takeaway from Monday night has just been delivered, but it isn't fresh food. It's the food from Monday. 48 hour old, stone cold, congealed food. My partner was absolutely furious and called the restaurant and the staff just laughed at him, down the phone. Our order hadn't been cancelled at all. They'd just forgotten about it or simply hadn't bothered to send it, knowing that we wouldn't be able to contact them until two days after we'd placed the order, to complain. The fact that it's just arrived now and fresh food wasn't sent, as a good will gesture, is absolutely disgusting. What's more, to be ridiculed and laughed at by the staff just shows the complete and utter lack of customer service this restaurant has to offer. During a cost of living crisis, £23 is a lot of money to some people and this takeaway was supposed to be a nice little treat for us. AVOID, AVOID, AVOID this place at all costs. I hope they're ashamed of themselves!

Went there last night, (l promised myself I wouldn’t go again) what a mistake. Food- particularly the chips had been warmed up from a batch made in the last century. I could go on but needless to say you get my drift, if you ever see me going in there again, please shoot me!

Extremely friendly staff, great portions

Visited here many times but I think its under new management and they do not accept card payments anymore so cash only. I just ordered a ¼ crispy duck. They didn't shred it for me so I struggled trying to make pancakes in the car. Plenty of pancakes and cucumber and shredded leeks and sauce but only enough duck to make three pancakes and a fourth with a bit of fatty duck skin with cucumber and leeks so a bit disappointing

£3.30 for a small chips or £3.50 for a large chips. What kind of pricing is that? I have never come across portion pricing that is that close together. But there's a reason for it... If you order a large chips you do get a lot of chips - double the small portion, for just 20p more. They are already ripping you off with the £3.50 cost of that large portion, but if they sell two separate orders of small chips, then they have sold the equivalent of one large portion for £6.60. Chips should be a cheap staple, but they are using that fact to rip customers off (often without them even realising). This is designed to make more money out of you, one way or another. I used to get fish and chips from here often, but the price now is ridiculous. Instead I go to The Good Catch in Crosby every Friday, which is a proper fish & chips shop with good quality fish and ingredients - and it's actually cheaper than a chippy!!! Aside from that, the food has got worse year on year, and more expensive. A few years ago this was a very good Chinese takeaway - now you can't tell the difference between here and anywhere.

Our fave chippy , moved out of area 12mths ago,but still come back weekly 15 miles away for our take away, can't find 1 better

Asked for prawn fried rice and got a mix of everything on the list bar prawns, with the addition of curry powder thrown in to likely mask the stale taste of reheated leftovers. Would not recommend. Crosby fish bar is far better.

Food low quality. Never had spring rolls or Sui mais encased in batter before. Big let down

Beef Green Pepper absolutely vile only 2 pieces of green pepper in whole dish and tasted like they had drop a whole tub of black pepper in it.Wont be going here again was always so good

We’ve been coming here for a few years but lately the atmosphere and reception from a few staff members is so bad and unwelcoming. We enjoy the food but dread walking in to collect as the reception is so frosty. Please be more courteous towards your customers.

Disgraceful food, greasy, tasteless, overpriced mess would not waste my money again

We order at least once a week. Fish had so much salt on it was uneatable. Chips days old and re heated! Pies were raw! Telephoned shop to complain and they weren't Interested!! Won't order again!!

Awful -chips warmed up and tasted like yesterday’s. Fish was just batter hardly any fish inside swimming in grease and curry was just like glue with oil floating on top - disgusting Won’t be going back here again

Don't bother , chips that looked and tasted like they'd been warmed up numerous times , straight in bin with the chicken fried rice which had hairs in it . £12.60 for a load of rubbish

Ordered food horrible experience while wating staff looked miserable delivery guy came in started talking to staff behind counter using the f word a lot not loudly only ment for staff then another delivery guy came in he stunk off alcohol! Never going back . The food was very nice pity.

Nice food however when you buy salt and pepper chicken i do expect this to come with chips or rice. Unfortunately not only was this an additional cost they only give a small portion of chips. This was my first time at Five Fortune and because the food was nice i will give one more try in the hope the price vs portion size will be better on a different choice

Ordered beef chow mein recieved sloppy overcooked noodles withy chewy overcooked beef and a few strigy bits of onion inedible !!! Also beef in OK sauce most definitely NOT OK again chewy overcooked beef disgusting sauce no flavour, fried rice fell out of carton in thick lump !!! Child's chicken burger squashed in a soggy bun with chips that were also disgusting!!! All binned !!! This used to be a fantastic takeaway sadly no longer. Would never order from Five Fortune again, worst takeaway I have ever ordered from

Ordered food it came early ( normally a bonus) chips tasted like last nights warm ups! The kids drinks had just come out the oven instead of the fridge. I was actually enjoying my meal until i put a fork full in my mouth to pull out a massive black hair 🤢 my tea then when straight in the bin with the rest of it....overpriced hairfilled warm ups

Beef chowmein ordered last night was disgusting! Worst I’ve ever had.... could actually smell and taste the over cooked stodgy noodles..... never order from here again, was so dissapointed

Just had the worst fish (if you can call it that) and chips I've ever tasted. The fish was practically non existent and was just badly burnt batter with fish shavings in and the chips had no flavour to them at all.

Food squashed in tub through in yuk not appetizing at all slapped in an basically never again

Waited an hour and a half no apology or explanation as to why, the meal was cold and as for the chips not fit for animal consumption there was that much grease I could barely open the paper as it just all fell to bits and mixed in with the pile of much that that was inside, never again discussing food and service

Had great meal from here before but disappointed with latest one. Recieved a text to say it was on the way at 730pm. Phoned the shop at 815pm as it hadn't arrived and was told it was only just leaving then. Didnt get all our order and when partner phoned up to ask the call taker hung up on him. Will think twice about using them again which is a shame as the food is usually lovely. Maybe they were just too busy

Rice in lumps. Chips poor, chilli beef no sauce and dry, ribs terrible and fatty. Not going back.

Brilliant Chinese takeaway. I am Ceoliac and the owner was really helpful. I asked which dishes I could have and he pointed me in the right direction. Had a great meal here and always do. Thank you for a great Chinese meal sans gluten 😉

It was NYD so couldn't expect the delivery to be too quick, but the estimated time didn't reflect this. The food was disappointing, and we won't order from here again.

Best Chinese around. I cant remember why we stopped going there. Very happy customers, it was just fantastic.

Food was good but could have been hotter

One Sui mai was missing and the ones that arrived tasted bad and had lots of gristle in, the chop suey smelled like when you lift the lid off a bin and had hardly any meat in it, the salt and pepper chips were all mushy and goey.

Still waiting for my delivery, no update, rude staff when rang and no idea if I am ever gonna get it, dont say it will be 1hr if its gonna be 3

After placing the order, the waiting time was 2 hours which is fine, I get it’s Saturday night pay weekend. But the food was 20 minutes late after the delivery time and when we called the chippy, there was no apology or sympathy from them or the driver. The food was drowned with black pepper and msg! Chicken wings were dry, wonton noodle soup were so peppery, it was spicy, chips had no salt and pepper on them. Take some advice from the other places and when you get too busy, take yourself off Just Eat!! Having to wait 2.5 hours for some soup, wings and chips is pathetic!

Fab service as always.Food is hot and well prepared. Don't have to worry whether it'll be good or not.

Food was ordered at 18.30 with the estimated delivery being 40-50 minutes when I got the confirmation it said 19.55 then at the time it was due I got a message saying it was going to be late it eventually arrived at 20.30 with no apology the driver just handed the food and walked away! The food wasn’t great the salt and pepper chips and chicken were swimming in grease and both that chicken and the sweet and sour chicken reminded me of something from a supermarket. Very disappointed

The Chinese dishes were nice but the fish and chips were Luke warm the cod was over done and the and very small. I rang up twice to find out we’re food was. First time when it was 10 mins late and second when it was 25 mins late. We had already accepted the fact it was going to take 60-75 mins from when I placed order.at 7.09pm it arrived 9.27pm not very happy.

Always takes a while from here but dont usually mind but today they didnt read the comments regarding the order and so unable to eat 1 meal and another incorrect.

Food was nice as always however, this is the third maybe even fourth time in a row our prawn crackers have been missing. Pointless ringing up and getting them sent out again because the time they get here I would’ve already eaten the food. Need to ensure that they have all the food before leaving the restaurant.

Called for a delivery as I have done before and had no problem, but was this time told my order would have to be over a certain amount for delivery, I said that was ok it probably was anyway. Was rudely told to go away and work it out and call back when I knew how much it was. Needless to say I went somewhere else. Awful service.

Food was always lovely but let down by the wait time and attitude of a staff member. Waited nearly an hour in the shop for a couple of starters, and when my husband asked, the older woman shouted through to the back 'he's saying it's an hour, it's only been 20 minutes.' Bad attitude and blatant lie, and to top it when he got home one of the things paid for wasn't even in the bag. It's a shame as we were regulars as well.

Excellent food as always we asked for chicken fried rice to be without onion or soy sauce, my so loved it ate the lot food hot and speedy delivery 👌

Best salt n pepper around but the recent price increase is rediculous. Well over £1 increase on each meal and this ontop of the extra charge for rice or chips. I did come here every week but now sadly we will be looking elsewhere.

Nice but too expensive. Instead of the crispy chilli beef I wanted I had to get foo yung. £8 for what is essentially a chippy meal is crazy expensive. This would be £5 or £6 elsewhere

Items missing on the order, phoned up to tell them, we were told they would send the items straight out to us. They never arrived.

This is a painful review a this has been my favouite chinese for years now but after a a fair few poor meals from there that past few times I can't see myself returning. Food was 20 minutes late which is fine but food arrived cold, missing items and a burnt pie. Rang up the establishment to tell them about the chips and got horrible service on return.

We ordered at roughly 5.30pm on a saturday night, (expected delivery time 7pm which I can accept, saturday busy etc) Unfortunately 7pm came and went rang the restaurant at 7.15 and said it was out with driver, eventually arrived at 7.25- It Wasnt as if We had ordered a banquet, a small selection of chips and sausage and a salt and pepper chicken- what did arrive was flavourless wet "salt and pepper chicken" that had obviously been sat steaming in the box for a long while and some limp and lifeless chips with no seasoning. Kids had chicken burger and sausages, again just cold and a bit damp. Just a bit of a poor effort, Dont mind the long wait as long as there is hot fresh food at the end.
