Had Halibut Fish and Chips - the food was perfectly cooked. Great atmosphere - wished we could have stayed longer! Great place to pop into before or after a show or if you’re in the area as we were!

Really lovely food in a non-stuffy, comfy setting with superb service and great wine list. That's it!

We came her for my birthday lunch. We wanted a nice meal. The mussels were very good. We also ordered grilled lobster, lobster thermidor, grilled seafood platter (no photo). The lobsters over cooked slightly, don't think it was worth £55 each. Overall experience were good but I don't think it was value for money.. I expect much better quality cooking.

Great fishworks branch. Have eaten at all of them but this was my first time here. Food tasted a lot better and the service was excellent.

We were turned down from two other restaurants as we were four adults with children and did not book a table thinking it's not necessary on Tuesday evening. Came to fishworks and the manager asked us to wait 15 min, but had a table ready in 5. The food was excellent, and the service was prompt, considering how busy it was. It’s rare to see such commitment and poise under pressure, and I want to commend the lady manager and our waiter for their exceptional service. They turned what could have been a stressful evening into a memorable one. I will definitely be returning, knowing that the restaurant is in such capable hands.

So much amazing fish food! Definitely one of the best seafood experiences in London. However, it's unfortunate that the staff didn't do anything special for our birthday celebration - not even a complimentary dessert / candles. Also, the lemon tart smelled a lot like fish... Definitely would not recommend to order it.

Found my fish and chips restaurant. Very good. Not greasy and very good chips.

Came here after the lion king show. We were 20 min early before our reservation time but were seated quickly. In brief, the food was not impressive for its price except for the appetizer (whitebait). Our waitress seemed very busy and we had to wait very long for additional plates. There was never a refill of water and our empty glasses sat on the table for a good 40 min.

Really wonderful surroundings and ambience, only 4 stars for the food as the sides we had were not very hot when they came to the table. Super fish and great service otherwise. Perfect for a bite before a show

Chic restaurant with delicious fish & chips

My wife booked a surprise birthday meal for my 60th followed by a show, our meal (starters) was delayed by 25 min due to a printer issue and we were given some very basic bread and pesto oil as a complimentary dish, When the starters. (Scallops) arrived they were a mishmash of raw and seriously overcooked with a heavy metallic taste. Given my concerns I would generally have sent them back but I did not want to embarrass my wife who dad given a lot of thought to choosing the restaurant. Hoping that things might improve we moved to the main course. My wife chose Salmon which looked and tasted brilliant. I chose blackened Mackerel only to be presented with a dish that had evidently spent too much time under a heat lamp. The mackerel, 3 dried and tasteless fillets on a sauce that resembled burnt asphalt was accompanied by a straw like slither of artichoke and potatoes, which as an Irishman, would have my ancestors turning in their grave. Little did I realise that we were to be reacquainted with the scallops some time later which brought a disappointing end to what should have a joyous birthday celebration, On this occasion the Fish did not work.

With full confidence I can say that this is one of the better meals I’ve ever had. The fish, oysters, drinks and service were phenomenal. The staff know exactly what they’re talking about and offered some really helpful tips about the different kinds of fish. Cannot wait to dine the next time I’m in London. Highly recommend this place.

Monkfish, French fries, and chocolate gelato were all great

I booked through The Fork booking site, and got 20%off the bill (a la carte food only). For a weekend at lunchtime, it was quiet, especially in Covent garden, so you can relax and enjoy the food. On the other hand, it lacks atmosphere because of it. It has some "catch of the day"menu on the black board, which is a good touch. The service is attentive for a chain restaurant. Friendly, but not too much. Even without the discount, I found the price very reasonable for the quality and for its location. Recommended.

Great restaurant, close to the theaters, so perfect for pre-show dinner. The seafood was fresh with great flavors. Service was fast and allowed us to visit without feeling rushed, amazing for a Friday night.

Food is overpriced. Staff were incredibly slow even though it wasn’t super busy. The food was under seasoned and overcooked. I had the blackened mackerel and it was just ok.

Omds I could not recommend this place enough! The seafood was absolutely delicious and worth the price! We enjoyed the grilled lobster, Fruits de mer, scallops and wine mussels! It was absolutely spectacular! The oysters were so fresh!

I liked it so much that people were staring at me on the street, probably the pair of gloves I put on were not English enough. You gotta do what you gotta do to enjoy your seafood. I ate so fast that I forgot to take a picture, I am sorry not sorry! 🤣

Came here midweek and had the seafood platter with 2 glasses of champagne, and a couple of sides. Good atmosphere with plenty of people, with couples, families and larger groups. The platter was great, with a decent quantity and mix of seafood, including a healthy amount of crab meat If you were willing to put in the hard work to scrape it all out. Our server (Alex) was friendly and attentive. Would recommend.

We are like royalty and have fishy seafood babies, which is about as high a compliment as I can give. For the amount of feed we received, it was pretty good value for London in the middle of theatre land, and the service was great. We were an impulse walk-in having spotted the restaurant as we passed. Most people already eating were dressed from the office and we were hesitant to go in as we were dressed for a rock gig on the other side of the city so we definitely stood out and were a bit self-conscious, but the staff were great and encouraged us in anyway and made us most welcome so that quickly faded. We had a great time. I would definitely go back!

Great food and reasonable prices for London. We had their share platter for 2, loved it. If you'd order this one, don't order anything else, maybe just fries. It's more than enough :) Wine and cocktail prices are a little bit high though, be careful when choosing. thx guys, we had a wonderful night.

Excellent food and service. Expensive but worth it

It is very convenient near Covent Garden. The ingredients are fresh and the fish soup is very thick. Thermidor lobster is very chewy and delicious. The sesame leaves are also very fresh and soothing. We chose halibut for the fish and chips. They are very thick and we want to eat them next time. See what the difference is with cod.

I had a nice meal at this restaurant today, scallops and cod , the only think that stopped a full mark is the chips were generally overcooked and quite bitty and there were not any condiments on the table,

Incredibly busy restaurant near Covent Garden. Don’t bother going unless you have a reservation. They won’t seat you otherwise. Obnoxious hostess. Staff are always in a hurry.

I’m sorry to have to report that I felt very let down with the meal. I ordered Lobster Thermidor, which was extremely disappointing, the lobster was very small, the cheese was hardly grilled and everything was only lukewarm. Very, very disappointing. Certainly I could not recommend the restaurant and I will not go there again.

Luckily for my husband and I, I chose this restaurant for dinner prior to seeing 'Tina, The Musical,' at the Aldwych Theatre. Predominantly a fish restaurant but non-fish fans can still get an equally delicious meal. With its own fishmonger as you walk in the door, the entire staff do their utmost to ensure you have the best dining experience. Our waitress, Gigia, was attentive, interested, knowledgeable about the menu and switched on. It was something itself to watch how she handled many tables with ease, friendliness, care and professionalism. Our wine was recommended by our waitress after careful consideration of our orders and was perfect. The starter, main and dessert reached every tastebud and satisfied every sense. The desserts we had - expresso tiramisu (doesn't look great but it is out of this world) and lemon tart - were, without exaggeration, the very best for a very long time. Thank you to all the staff and the management for creating a dining experience which will live long in our memories and has caused us to recommend you many times already.

This was our second time there, and we loved it the same. Their grilled prawns are to die for. Fantastic service, lovely atmosphere, Mamma Mia... watch the play and have dinner here (the theatre is next door), that's what we did the last time we went to this place.

We were in London a couple of days staying at the Waldorf and happened to walk past this restaurant a couple times. It looked great so we decided to try it out for dinner. We were warmly greeted by Cat who sat us at a lovely table and needless to say the seafood was AMAZING!!!! The wine Cat suggested was wonderful and the food was so good we decided to come back the following night (our last night) to try more menu items that we were dying to try. We forgot we had booked a show at 7pm and quickly realized we probably would not have time for dinner at FishWorks:( We decided to leave at intermission and we’re so happy that we did as we walked right into the restaurant where we were warmly greeted again by Cat and ordered the couple dishes that we were dying to try the night before. . Our experience at FishWorks : the staff was friendly, the food was amazing, the ambience was fantastic and we will definitely come back the next time we are in London, and for sure, will recommend to any friends who are looking for a great seafood restaurant.!!!

I was quite disappointed with the service. They only refilled my water once, and nobody asked if I was satisfied with the food. I noticed the server asking other tables but ignoring me, which led me to reasonably doubt whether they were being discriminatory. Additionally, I was not happy with the wild prawns; all three were not fresh, with black heads and a weird taste. The worst part is that they charged a 12% service fee. I expected much better service considering this fee. Overall, the food was mediocre—good king scallops, ordinary fish soup, and bad wild prawns—and the service was lacking.

How they managed so many starts i have no idea, expectations of a fish / seafood restaurant is to have fresh seafood, had a lobster, scallops and prawns, such a disappointment on all. Scallops had a funny smell, prawns and lobster were soggy. Most disgusting thing i ever had, will never visit again, can't compare to anything worse, shame i can't give them 0 stars

Beautiful food, excellent service

Tucked away by the strand on the way up to Holborn is this quality fish restaurant servicing fresh fish, locally sourced at a decent price. The standards are very high, the taste is spectacular. The sides and garnishes are equally as good and the chefs have been thoughtful about how they combine flavours so it all works together Service is fast, helpful and with a smile / the atmosphere is classy - there’s a lot of couples, and older friends dining - it’s not ideal for kids but then this is a high end experience possibly something they wouldn’t like anyway.

This is our second time here and it is still one of the best 👌 10out of10

Waiter was great and friendly. We ordered the seafood platter (explained we didn’t like oysters or clams but asked to swap for prawns). For £50 we got 12 mussels, 7 prawns and a bit of crab with no meat on it. Clearly previously frozen fish so what we had wasn’t great. Chips were good but we came away hungry and significantly poorer! Our table was wedged in by an iron pole and my seat was literally 5cm from the top of some stairs. Very uncomfortable. Won’t be going back.

Was tempted in by the reasonably-priced set lunch menu, but ended up having some Monkfish from the counter (ask to see their daily catch specials). Kat, the waitress, was incredibly knowledgeable about all the fish on offer, suggesting flavour pairings for how I’d like my fish cooked. I was really well looked after - the atmosphere was relaxed, and the fish (most importantly) delicious.

The food is nothing special, fish and chips made from frozen fish, crust is too thick. Waiter dropped all the chips from my plate and the chips were brought after again but charged. Wine is the cheapest wine and still charged too much. All in all, I don't recommend at all.

£5 an oyster is very expensive, but the quality is not worth it at all. The oysters come in different sizes, some are very small. And one of them tastes a bit fishy, probably not the freshest. And service is slow. It’s clearly understaffed. I waited a few minutes when I arrived, before there was a staff attending. And the restaurant in general is quite noisy. Just not worth the price.

Excellent lunch at fishworks today. White bait tasted great and the portion size was good. Bouillabaisse was delicious, again, a great portion and delightful flavour. Cod, mussels and prawns all excellent but I did not care much for the tuna, it was too overpowering in the delicate dish. We enjoyed a bottle of white wine and ended the meal with a coffee which was again, very good. Couldn’t really fault the meal or the service. All this for £55 a head, which is brilliant. Keep up the good work !

Food was really good and delicious!! We ordered the oven cooked bass, the mussels, cod, brownie and cheese board and everything was fantastic. Also the vibe was inmaculate and Banel, the waitress was really helpful and professional. Really recommend it!!

I would never go back. Ordered muscles that were not cleaned properly and still full of sand and prawns that had not been devained. Very unacceptable as the very basics for a fish/seafood place were missing. The service was friendly and attentive. The only thing that was great in the things we tasted was the warm bread with taramosalata, however when we asked for extra bread we were given cold and stale bread.

Great fish restaurant in Central London and not being silly with the prices! There could be a bit more ambience by turning down the lights slightly, it currently feels quite industrial.

The restaurant is well-maintained and neatly presented, offering a selection of seafood. To secure a seat in this bustling Covent Garden establishment, arriving between 5 pm and 6 pm is advisable. The waiting staff were pleasant, though it would have been appreciated if someone had offered to take our winter coats. The prawn starters were visually appealing, but unfortunately, the prawns themselves were disappointingly mushy. The main course, a seafood platter, didn't stand out, featuring a very small scallop, more of the mushy prawns, and some seabass. The double-fried chips were soft and seemed to be a frozen product. On a positive note, the desserts were exquisite, and my partner indulged in two. The espresso panna cotta and the lemon tart were particularly outstanding. The service was prompt and courteous. However, the cold drinks were served a bit warm, detracting from the overall experience. Despite these shortcomings, the overall dining experience was pretty good, and addressing the temperature of the drinks and improving the prawn quality would enhance the experience. In terms of value for money, with four of us dining, the bill came to approximately £350.

Amazing seafood restaurant classy atmosphere and fresh seafood daily.

The food was very delicious. We ordered prawns starters, and sea bass mains. Everything was excellent. My only issue was that they don't serve draft beers, only overpriced bottled beer. For dessert we tried ice-cream and it was a very tiny portion. There was limited parking around the restaurant, so I suggest taking the tube. It's very close to Hyde park and all the theatres. The area felt pretty safe to walk around at night.

Had lunch here for the second time and it was just as wonderful as I remembered. Fish Works has some of the best scallops I’ve ever tasted. These scallops are just so tender and the way they’re baked into their shells in a delightful white wine sauce with a light and crunchy breadcrumb topping— exceptional! Their sole meunière, also excellent! Filleted at the table and cooked to perfection. Highly recommend Fish Works right outside Covent Garden.

Visited this restaurant while in London. Wonderful food, if you like seafood it is a must stop. Great Oysters, great fish bait starter. I recommend the seafood platter because it is delicious and you get to try a few different things. They had great cocktails and wine as well. The service was good and had a nice atmosphere. The staff was friendly and attentive. I would definitely go back again. Good location as well for walking or exploring downtown.

Lovely staff and venue, lots of attention and care. The same can be said for the food, which is really well prepared, cooked and presented. However, although everything was delivered hot and fresh we ended up adding salt and Tabasco to everything and doing so turned the food from 3 star to 4+! The food rating will have to stay 3 star until the chef adds the vavavoom! Also, the prices seemed a bit too high and given that it was near empty but well staffed I think there's room to be more efficient and pass some of the gains to the customers. This should also bring in more business and so a win-win is in the offing 🙂

I visited the Catherine St restaurant with members of my family on December 20th. My son and I both shared the Fruit de Mer. Within 24 hours we were both struck down with a Norovirus which took several days to recover from. Whilst the experience of the rest of the party was good, for the two of us, it was clouded by the food poisoning which could have only come from our meal at this place. The service was also not very attentive.

Keeping this short for everyone who’s thinking of going: DON’T. We had dinner there and we had the fish soup + fritto misto. 1. We got sick in the night and vomited three times (imagine running to the toilet from your bed) 2. We were seated by the LG staircase which honestly is not suitable for dining at all (busy staircase + bang sound from the faulty toilet door) 3. Service crew failed to provide us with soup spoon. After they did following our request, the spoons the came were dirty. When we requested for a change. We never see the spoons again. ================= This is a follow up after we wrote to FishWorks as their corporate PR team had requested below. In summary, they outsourced the responses to a "third party consultant" who then flooded us with numbers, figures, precautions, and best-practices that they have in the restaurant, and essentially concluding that since we were the only one reported the issues and no one else, we are the ones with the issues and not them. Many a times, all we want is a sympathetic & humane service recovery response from the service provider. FishWorks provided none of that; in fact, they just wanted to quickly shout accusation.

For a seafood restaurant it was shocking that all of our seafood was not only heavily under seasoned but unbelievably overcooked. Both apps (scallops and prawns) and both mains (halibut and the stone bass). The only thing not overcooked were the raw oysters LOL, and even then we had a fair share of shells in our shucked oysters. The highlight of the entire meal was dessert. Service was efficient but far from hospitable. We mentioned it was our honeymoon in our reservation with the hopes of some additional hospitality but no such luck. Our waiter wanted us in an out at as quickly as possible with minimal interaction. If you’re looking for a fast meal with a cute aesthetic and don’t care about the quality of food, come here. Nothing was inedible but everything was lackluster.

Went to FishWorks on Friday night the staff was excellent the head chef absolutely amazing the food you could not fault. The service was brilliant. I could not recommend this restaurant any higher absolutely amazing probably one of the best dining experience this year. So Pleased I went.

I’ve eaten hear before and really enjoy it as a venue. The restaurant is small but the tables are nicely spaced apart. The menu is varied (although seafood based as you’d expect) and the specials change regularly. Staff are friendly and service is quick but not rushed. I had the fish and chips this time and it was really enjoyable, flaky cod with crunchy chips. Definitely worth a try.
