Fishtail Lounge and Bar in Vale of White Horse

We were staying at the nearby Premier inn. Never had Nepalese food so wanted to try it. I asked for their recommendation and went with the Gurkha lamb which was superb, very tasty and medium spicy as requested. Husband had Chicken timur and loved it, it was spicer than mine! With 2 poppadoms and chutney, one rice and 2 pints it was £50 Although I thought the chutney was expensive for the amount you got and also the small pot of rice was £4.95 All in all very nice food.

Actually we didn’t visit. We ordered a takeaway. All from the curry and Indian end of their varied menu. But I really was so impressed I wanted to “spread the word”. Food was delicious totally. None of us had anything but top praise for nearly all our dishes (goan king prawn curry perhaps the least good - needed a bit more spicing imho) But. Will definitely use again. Everything was also piping hot (we picked up ourselves, but that isn’t always the case even then) And the prices were absolutely fair. Recommended for sure.

We live in Ipswich and are well travelled. I must say that the food we were served on our visit to the restaurant was outstanding. The restaurant was so clean and the staff really cared about their business and customers. I highly recommend the Fishtail restaurant ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐👍

Visited Fish Tails twice this month with friends then returned with partner. I food is excellent best nepalise / Indian I have had, I can't handle too spicy but they were happy to adjust any meal to my taste. Staff helpful and accomadating. Taking different friend next week.

The food was amazing We eat Asian food all the time we have never had better. We went on one night and thought it could not get better untill we went the second night ! The Himalayan garlic chilli chicken wow what a dish !

This place has only been open for 4 months apparently. It's a large restaurant opposite Westgate Square, strangely the area is dominated by Asian-themed restaurants with little else in terms of alternatives! Anyway we had read good things so decided to give it a try during a stay in Botley. The decor is nice and the place is spacious. We were greeted by a guy who apparently was on his first day there! We had the mixed starter and samosa (veg). The latter was very good if a little on the small side. The mixed starter was literally that - a mixed bunch. Bhaji and kebab were lovely. The chicken tikka has a weird taste to it, it was okay but not the best. The other chicken was tasty but looked like boiled chicken. Samosas arrived hot but the mixed starter was lukewarm. Our mains were better, cooked nicely and not swimming in ghee. Naan breads were nice and although we ordered 3 (and 3 were on the bill), we feel like we had about 5 and left 2 as we were full. Desserts are uninspiring bought-in frozen ones that are standard Indian restaurant fare (coconut ice cream in a coconut shell, etc.) Although I may sound critical, it was a pleasant meal, although with only a soft drink each at £95 (including tip) it's up there in terms of price.

I have to say !! This place serves absolute fantastic cuisine. I came in not knowing what to expect but I soon realised this was an exceptional restaurant. If you live in Oxford then you should visit this place. I had a traditional Indian meal with a Naan to die for. The best I’ve ever tasted. Keep the quality of your food and you guys will go from strength to strength.

Fishtail is truly a gem in Oxford's Botley Area. From the moment you step through the doors, you're transported on an amazing journey of flavors that span the vibrant landscapes of India and Nepal. The staff at Fishtail are incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable, providing excellent recommendations and ensuring that every aspect of the dining experience exceeds expectations. I visited this restaurant with my friend and we were welcomed by this beautiful couple. This husband and wife run the front side of the restaurant and truly they are great people. Always laughing and providing the best service. Hats off to the chef too who along with his team managed to cook such amazing food that quickly even though the restaurant was busy. I actually ended up staying there for a very long time almost until closing time as we had drinks as well there but even then they were so happy to serve us. As someone who appreciates authentic cuisine, I was thrilled to discover Fishtail's extensive menu featuring traditional Nepalese and Indian dishes. We tried the Kathmandu chicken, Gurkha lamb and chicken tikka masala along with butter garlic naans. I must say they serve really good food and so far the best Indian food that I’ve had. The ambiance of the restaurant is warm and inviting, providing the perfect backdrop for a memorable meal with friends or family. I highly recommend Fishtail to anyone seeking an unforgettable dining experience filled with exquisite flavors and warm hospitality. Make sure to add this hidden gem to your list of must-visit restaurants in Oxford—you won't be disappointed!

We are local and have tried the Fishtail a few times. I have waited to write a review to see if they could sustain the standard of food and service. I can now safely say this is a fantastic restaurant, a great addition to Botley's centre and we are lucky to have such a wonderful place so close. Yep, we are certainly going to be regulars (going tonight, actually!) and wish them every success for the future. Thanks!!

We were staying at the Premier Inn opposite so it was a great location for us. The food was AMAZING and I would give this restaurant 10 stars if I could The meals are made from scratch and the produce is fresh. The staff are lovely and Raj is great in his role at front of house. He is very welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. It was the nicest meal we have enjoyed in a long time. We wish Raj all the very best with his new business and hope to see him one day here on the Isle of Wight. We'll be back when we can - see you soon Raj!

Went in for dinner last night and to be fair they fitted us in without a reservation and served us drinks promptly. The Restaurant was clean with a good menu. My wife had ordered vegetable Biryani and a Garlic and Coriander Naan. When the food arrived the dish contained virtually all rice with no veg was too spicy to eat and the Naan was stale. This can happen in Restaurants but was not acceptable was on complaining the response from the waiter who was verbally aggressive to My wife and by the end of the conversation was virtually shouting at us. Goodness knows what the other customers thought.

Incredible food, possibly the best naan bread I’ve had and always a good beer available on tap… I couldn’t ask for more! Have never been disappointed here and the service is top class, would recommend in a heartbeat 👍
