Fishermans Rest in Amber Valley

A lovely pub, very busy when I popped in with my dog which is always a good sign. The beer was great and with the log fire going, was a proper country pub vibe. Definitely recommend a visit

We popped in as we were driving past and this pub was a really nice resting place on the drive home. The prices were great, very friendly staff, nice locals with lovely, well behaved children. We had the roast batch (or whatever you call it lol) with amazing gravy and roast potatoes. I’d definitely return if I happened to drive by again 😊

A great pub with a selection of beer and cider. They have different food truck that visit and that's a nice touch to what they offer. Nice spacious garden and dog friendly. The bar staff are very friendly and welcoming. Ample parking available also.

Such a lovely welcome and friendly locals, had a Sunday lunch beef cob and roast potatoes which was amazing. Looking forward to returning soon.

I had my 60th birthday on 1st July . My wife organised it with nick and it was absolutely brilliant. We had a karaoke by Tom which was great . The food from Sadlergate catering , which was fantastic . Everyone said the beer was great , The atmosphere was fantastic . ❤️

Great dog friendly pub. They don't really do food but do have special nights where they have pizza ovens or bbq's. They also have a order off a takeaway menu and they'll serve it to you when it arrives on plates and do all the washing up after. Highly recommended pub.

Great place to be for scenery and nice atmosphere! The Sunday roast cobs, only on a Sunday, are great, and popular, with vegetarian options as well. Always friendly and welcoming. Dog owners love it as do the dogs! The place is a drinking pub, rather than a food pub, but there are evenings when there is a special guest appearance of a food vendor, like a mobile pizza oven company, and they do a take-out, order in evening sometimes as well. Popular for sport events as well, and special music nights sometimes. Overall, The Fisherman's Rest is a popular welcoming local pub.

Fisherman's is a great place for a drink especially during the summer when you can sit outside and look over the valley onto the Chevin.

Disappointing, here for a weeks holiday and went out for a beer and food. 3 people got served before me, first standing directly behind me in a white shirt, apparently 2 pints already in . When I complained I was told they were before me. Definitely not!!! Obviously a locals bar, but not the welcoming to strangers. Also small car park. Hopefully the rest of Derbyshire will be friendlier.

Came a long way for the dog show at the pub, never won a bloody thing yet some dogs won multiple times. It did seem to be quite biased to people they knew and regular customers. Very dissapointing. Won't be back!

A very friendly pub with a great relaxed and happy atmosphere and welcoming staff. There is plenty of parking and designated spaces for disabled people. The seats are comfy. I highly recommend the Fisherman's Rest for a very enjoyable evening. The photo is of a performer at one of the pub's Stagefright nights.

Nice pub in the countryside with great views from the large outdoor beer garden. Decent selection of beers and friendly staff. Recommended on a warm summers day to anyone staying at the nearby Firs Caravan and Motorhome club site.

Very disappointed.after one year 1st night out with old work mates we thought it would be a good place to meet.all 3 of us arrived at 8 pm 9.20 girl behind bar asking if we would like another drink has switching till of and closing.no atmosphere no food .grab some cans of beer and go sit in Belper bus station it's more fun .

Very disappointed. The 3 serving staff don't wear masks, no track and trace barcode or paper. No cleaning of tables between users. No one way system. Customers don't wear masks when they get up from their tables. In my opinion not covid secure at all. A great pity because a nice garden and the one quick beer I had was good.

The pub has a great garden for enjoying afternoon or evening sunshine. There are loads of well spaced out tables outside. So perfect for the current Covid situation. Oh, and there's a good choice of well kept beers!

Went as a group of four last night. Whilst the pub itself is great, the food was dire. We all ordered vegetarian options, three of us ordered stuffed mushrooms and one of us the dragon pie. The stuffed mushroom was a single, medium sized field mushroom with a few bread crumbs and over cooked cheese on top. This was accompanied by terrible chips (like you would get in a kebab shop) and a little bit of cheap salad, they charged £10.50 for this! The dragon pie was undercooked with the same ropey chips and that was £9.95 (or thereabouts). I should say at this point that we had been a few times over summer and the food was great, especially the vegetarian range, but last night was a shocker. In hindsight we really should have said something, but I guess we were on a rare evening out and didn't was to ruin the night with an uncomfortable situation. Poor excuse, and I really wish we had as this was one of the worst food experiences I've had for a long time.
