My partner is a fisherman and we brought a static caravan a few miles away so the first visit we went to look at the lakes and had lunch in the cafe, the food was amazing, there is no such thing as a small helping the portions are huge, we went for tea tonight and it was pie night, the pies are all home made and delicious, plus they do proper chips, so if you have a good appetite, like value for money and love great service from the friendly helpful staff this cafe has it all

After a lovely walk in Westgate Woods, a few steps away is this great place. Today we had a baked potato with cheese beans and salad, and it was perfect. Other times we have chosen from the main menu, and every time our meal has been super. The price list is such good value, and the place has a cozy feel to it, with helpful staff and clean loos. Highly recommended.

My husband and I loved our trip, such a nice location and the scenery too, we came in for our dinner as we were driving up to Blackpool on Friday the 1st and I say it was amazing, We both loved it, the waitress who served us can’t remember her name but she was lovely, and the two chefs (no name given but they were two lads) and they looked busy but were able to put out one of the best meals we’ve ever had, will have to stop off again on the way back. 5/5 would recommend.

Small plates. Nice friendly staff and nice location. Plenty of seating. Found shell or pan bits in egg. Given £1 back. The breakfast was fair but won't be returning.

Friendly, with great service and good food. There's a choice of various ALL DAY breakfasts. Something of a rarity around here. Good menu with something for everyone. Fast becoming our regular 'go to' place. A little gem.

We used to go after I finished work on Friday, for the fish and chips. A mighty portion of everything and great quality fish to boot. The meal deal they offer is great value, but somehow the till or the serving assistant contrive to not get it quite right, still all done with a smile and the world still turns. This is the traditional meal with fresh bread and butter. The two big downsides are: 1. Sachets of everything; take some scissors or suffer stuff squirting all over your clothes. 2. Of course progress in presentation has been observed, everything been served in containers: the chips come in a little wire basket, the mushy peas in a separate bowl, it’s a real do-it-yourself- job to get everything onto the plate. The location is great in summer for a gentle stroll around the grounds, but this is still essentially a cafe. The place is clean, the staff pleasant and the prices reasonable. It’s well worth a visit.

First time here when looking for somewhere new to go from our home in Long Sutton, near the Wash. I had cheeseburger, homemade chips, lovely crisp fresh salad and my husband had roast beef with lots of nice fresh veg from their Wednesday carvery. They have a nice cool verandah area to sit in which we needed on such a hot day Our meals were both £7.95 which we thought were good value for what you got. Very pleasant area. We tried sitting looking over one of the several lakes but was too warm so will do that on another day.

Nice welcome, staff friendly and a good pot of tea for a reasonable price. Well worth a visit. They do serve food which looks nice but i've not tried as yet but most certainly will give it a go on next visit.

We have eaten here for a few years now, and have always had great food, freshly cooked, and locally sourced. The chunks of meat in the steak and ale pie were huge! Good value for money, great choice, and a good atmosphere in the place. Would highly recommend.

We stopped by for breakfast at about 11.30 with 4 adults and 1 child. We all ordered the breakfast but nothing for the child (I always share mine) the amount of food that came out was amazing! I could have shared with 2 children lol my partner didn't finish his! He ordered a black pudding side which was extra. The choice we had was £7.95 which was 2 if each: bacon, sausage, eggs, hash browns, fried slice and toast (1 slice of bread cut in half for each) a large scoop of beans and some mushroom. It also came with a large tea. It was served within 10 minutes of ordering (tea was served at time of order) they even supplied an extra plate and kids cutlery for my son. Would definitely go back I couldn't fault anything!

I went to this eatery for the first time recently, and in fact even though I have lived in the area for 14 years, I did not know it existed. My friends had told me the Wednesday carvery was great, and we arranged to go there. In the mean time I took another friend, just to show her where it is, and as soon as the delicious smell of breakfast made our mind up for us. We both has a full English breakfast, and that was delicious, and HUGE! The staff were very friendly, and the price reasonable. That was on the Monday, and on the Wednesday of the same week, back I went, as arranged, for a carvery. My goodness, what great value for money! and how delicious. From a choice of 3 meats, I chose the roast beef, and there were three large slices and a Yorkshire served on my plate, then we helped ourselves to a wide array of vegetables, including mashed and roast potatoes, roasted carrots and parsnips, cabbage, carrots, peas and broccoli, as much as we wanted, and topped by lovely thick gravy. I had to be careful not to take too much. The only thing that was disappointing was the coffee which was weak. However, that did not detract from the delicious meal. I WILL certainly go back. I understand there is also a Sunday carvery, but you need to book, as they get very busy.

We've visited Westwood lakes for the past couple of years now, it has always been a pleasure. We enjoy using the on site facilitys, the Malard and the Fishermans rest are lovely for a relax in the evening or a nice home cooked meal. Unfortunately the most recent visit to the Fishermans rest was not a normal visit, we ordered the breakfast, one with a few extra's which were not brought over with the breakfast, so a simple "excuse me, I ordered ..." was said to the waiter as he left the table. The response I got can only be described as rude, and to be frank completely ruined our breakfast. It's unfortunate that one staff member could potentially ruin a lovely establishments reputation like The Fisherman's Rest so easily. The breakfast however was as lovely as ever.

WOW!!! What a beautiful location, lakes, walks, bird sanctuary, fishing, lodge cabins and a fantastic café/restaurant in a beautiful Swiss style wooden cabin/lodge. We live in a local village and didn't know it was here until a local pub's cleaning lady told us all about it. It sounded too good to be true, but every superlative she used we will endorse.

An impulsive choice for lunch turned into a very enjoyable no rush afternoon in a relaxed atmosphere. The meat was cooked to perfection and was generously doled out with as much veg and potatoes as I was prepared to tackle. The yorkshires were a little overdone(crispy and hard, not soft) but that was more than made up for by the meal and atmosphere as a whole. A very good price to boot I might add. Recommended.

I visit the Fisherman's Rest on a regular basis. It's what you expect from a cafe- a good breakfast, lunchtime jacket potatoes, sandwiches and omelettes, and in the evenings they offer fish and chips, pies, burgers and steaks. Reasonably priced, great location.

This eatery is just at the entrance of Westwood Lakes holiday lodges and fishing lakes. It is open to every one, not just customers using the lodges or fishing. We were walking round the adjacent Boston Woods Trust and at the halfway point decided we needed refreshment. Having noticed - but not used - the Fisherman's Rest before, we decided to give it a try.As we had our dog with us, we hoped it would be dog friendly. There was outside seating which met our needs so we were pleased. I also noticed it is fully accessible and indeed whilst I was ordering two people arrived, one of whom used a wheelchair. We wanted a drink and also took the opportunity to have an ice cream as it was a warm day. Despite the small order I was greeted with cheerful service and I got the impression that nothing was too much trouble.I notice quite a full menu offering a wide range of options to choose from so I doubt it anyone would go hungry. Before we left, I visited the toilet which is unisex and was pleased with the high level of cleanliness and facility. I also noted an accessible toilet conveniently placed nearby. All in all, a very good facility, particularly for users of the woods where - understandably - no comfort facilities exist. Thank you very much!

This is an amazing place to eat.Good quality food, always hot and cooked to order. The sunday carvery is one of the best in the area. The sausages are butchers lincolnshire sausages and are the best in boston. There is a good selection on the menu and staff are very pleasant and helpful. This is a cafe/resturant that i would recommend to all. Not had a bad meal in all the years we have been going.

Went yesterday at 4.45pm for the Sunday carvery. Their own website states that the carvery runs from 12 til 7. But in actual fact the carvery shuts at 4, so we never got to eat. Very poor.

Used to come here every Wednesday dinner with family, until there was a new chef, then we don't go as often. Portions got smaller and quality slacked a bit. So we now ring up and ask who the chef is before going. Andy is brilliant. Clean place, nice location.

Right next to Westgate Wood so handy for a cuppa and a biscuit when it is cold. Hot food served all day with sandwiches and snacks available , there is also a bar. Food looks very much like deep fat fryer and pie and chips type and gets busy for breakfast before any fishing competition. Some very nice log cabins which get fully booked during the season, coarse fishing in artificial waterway but a much valued local asset.

We visited Westwood Fishing Lakes to walk around the lakes and chalets on a sunny day. Lunch at the Fisherman's café was a pleasant experience in a timber chalet , the menu was varied and our choice was quickly served by friendly staff. The food was excellent and well presented by the resident chef. Car parking was very good and access easy. Westgate woods are nearby just over the road and make a good trip out.

Went along with 18 other members of our Society and enjoyed an excellent meal. Everyone was served at the same time despite there being a power cut half way through the meals being prepared by Andy, who did an excellent job. Staff were very friendly and efficient and everyone was satisfied with their meal. The restaurant was clean and had been refurbished the week before and the seating was comfortable with all our members sat at one long table.

Following an invigorating walk through the ever expanding and impressive Westgate Woods, we thought we would finish with a lunchtime snack at the Fisherman's Rest Café. We were surprised by the range of meals and drinks on offer and the lunchtime menu was tempting enough for us to order a mushroom omelette and a portion of chilli, rice and crusty bread. The reasonably priced meal was hot and of very good quality and took us by surprise. The accompanying pot of tea was, however, too small for two people, providing only one and a quarter cups each. This is a relatively new venue for Boston which deserves positive support, as it is open from 7-30 in the morning for mouth-watering breakfasts and stays open all day till last orders at 8-30 p.m.

Visiting the area for the day, we located The Thatched Cottage via Tripadvisor. Booked a table for late lunch. Fortunately a pleasant day as having our furry friend with us we had to sit outside. Our lunch was as good as hoped for; a generous portion of roast lamb, served on a bed of lovely mash, accompanied by red cabbage, yorkshire pud, roasties and apricot stuffing. The sides of creamy blue cheese leeks and trio of carrots, french beans and swede were colourful and tasty. Our meal was served promptly and the half pints of Doom Bar washed our lunch down nicely. Friendly service A thoroughly enjoyable lunch, a good find which we would recommend We may not have booked had it been a cold wet day, delighted it wasn't. Note to TTCR, perhaps look at a doggy owner corner in your bar for diners over the winter months?

Lovely light lunch in Wrangle. Booked late so didn't get best table but still well placed in a safe environment. Enjoyed lovely home made lunches including salad, quiche and sausage pie and smashing cakes. Must have an afternoon tea next time, looked perfect

Lovely pub. We ate in the bar because our friends had their dog with them. Didn't see the restaurant area but hopefully next time. The bar area was fine but not very busy but I'm sure the atmosphere in the restaurant area was better but that's our fault for having a dog with us. Staff were lovely and friendly.
