Excellent choice of sweet and savoury. Just be prepared to buy more than intended.

WoW that was something I kept repeating as I tried their different pastries - the best coffee cream I have ever had and one of the best doughnuts ever - their pastries were so fresh and so well priced - I can come back to St Andrews only for this it was that good. Not very overpowering sweet and yet so fresh and tasty. Strongly recommend.

Always busy,but served quickly.Coffee and chocolate puffs are our favourite when we visit St. Andrews.A must visit is this shop!

Initially got 2 fudgy donuts with custard, they were that good that we popped back in for more! Got a selection of different cakes to take home. The service was great, staff all very friendly. Will definitely be back. :)

I’m not a donuts person or a fried foods person in general. But these fudge donuts are TO. DIE. FOR. So good. The custard in the middle isn’t some sickly-sweet vanilla pudding but a luscious creamy glob of goodness. The icing is sweet and perfectly proportioned. The pastry itself is light and doughy and perfection. So glad we stopped in, it would be a tragedy to have missed it

What a lovely bakery with very nice friendly staff, there was so many different cakes to choose from, we got the chocolate doughnuts and the apple turnovers, the doughnuts where delicious 😋, and I am sure when I get round to eating the apple turnover it will be very tasty as well, they had a very good variety of Halloween themed cakes and treats also.

Brilliant bakery, loads of choice, well priced, well worth a visit.

The service here is much better than cupar for reasons I won't go into. We went couple days and same friendly girl. We ordered bacon roll and fudge doughnut and next day the spinach roll and macaroni pie - all excellent. We also loved the Dr seeded rolls! Both cupar establishments should aim to be like St Andrews on terms of being friendly!

On a a visit ti St Andrews I bought 2 cheese scones 2 empire biscuits and 2 fudge doughnuts OMG the doughnuts were delicious but everything was great,pleasant staff too,will return on my next visit to St Andrews.

We went to the bakery twice in 2 days. First visit we had 4 gingerbread men which were all lovely, staff were friendly and the establishment was clean and a really pleasant feal to whole experience. Unfortunately on the second visit they let them selves down badly. We order 2 millionaires slices which were great and 2 more gingerbread men which weren't in the counter so we asked for them. The gingerbread men were stale and hard, as if they were a day old these shouldn't have been on sale. This made the whole experience poor. Overall the staff were friendly, shop was clean and appealing to eye and if it wasn't for one thing they would have got a better score.

A great spot for coffee. Didn't have anything to eat on this occasion, but have been tempted by "nice things" at their main bakery many times in the past. The coffee was good and the friendly service was excellent. We will return.

Great Fudge Doughnuts although do tend to half them as way to much , all the family bring them back now whenever they visit

Bring your dog as the staff love them. Sit outside in the sunshine. A superb experience enjoyed by myself, my husband and Phil the dog. The produce is great and the staff know how to make a great coffee.

What a brilliant bakers to visit. If it's been around over 100 years, then it should be pretty good. We ate in the cafe. Service, super friendly and helpful. Scotch pie, superb. I've never had a better one. Loads of fun cakes. I took the frog one home. A trip back in time, but a really tasty and fun one.

First time anywhere in fife on our travels we have been made to feel unwelcome and as if we were an inconvenience. Staff were disinterested and honestly rather rude. We were so shocked we took our business to the smaller bakery along the road where they seemed pleased to have our custom. Such a shame as we had heard good things. Am not one to write bad reviews I usually just would not return but feel management should know just how poor our experience was.

Nice and homely little cafe with entirely home made fare, so a bit pricey but very good - we had the wee strawberry tarts which at £3.15 are dear but they were lovely.

Time was when F&D was just a wee bread shop but too expensive for my student budget. Returning after many years, decided to try their new café in South Street. Food was pretty grim TBH. I was surprised when my Tuna Melt ciabatta arrived within seconds of ordering - but it had been kept warm for some hours, not made to order. Tuna was just a sludge. The lentil soup - ironically was both the regular menu item and the soup of the day - was like baby food. Would not have known it was lentil unless I read it on the menu. My wife's chicken mayo salad sandwich was very gloopy and unappetising. Coffee was weak and didn't look like it was real. The tea was OK. Overall, just about what you'd expect for a typical UK café. Staff were pleasant and helpful though, and the loo was spotless. Could have been so much better with very little effort.

Tried the fudge doughnuts while we were on holiday in St Andrews and they were amazing. Son loved the coffee tower. Loved them so much had to get another one two days late in dundee. Yummy highly recommend them

What a little gem of a coffee shop. Doesn't allow dogs inside but the manager went out of her way to settle us outside and provide a personal waitress service. If you haven't visited yet then Id highly recommend you do. Service that exceeded expectation and cakes that are simply divine!

Fisher & Donaldson is a fifth generation Royal Warrant-holding family bakery. This establishment has been baking for over 100 Years. It’s said that Prince William and Kate Middleton went here for sweets. However, this is contested by the Northpoint, a café on North Street, where Will and Kate would go to relax between lectures and started their relationship. They would order chocolate biscuits and coffee. However, our eyes were focused on the more elaborate desserts that were sold by Fisher & Donaldson and we ordered a pudding (I guess a cream-filled doughnut) and a flump (marshmallow dessert like a Mallomar) to go. If it’s good enough for the Queen, it’s good enough for us.

Some really wonderful cakes and pastries here. We loved the toffee doughnuts filled with cream and not too expensive. But all looks great, we are sorry not to have time to try everything. It must be a pleasure for locals to keep dipping in to the options. Just right for an afternoon treat. Our children loved this place too and baked bean and potato pie for next time.

There's no doubt the products are (generally) good, but complacency seems to have affected both the prices and the service. Not worth the premium, even for special items.

Bought a macaroni pie at lunchtime today,I asked for it to be heated and was charged extra , it was dry macaroni and think baker must have forgot to put any cheese in at all. Awful .

Love this place. We came from out of town and hosted a dinner party. I pre ordered several bakery items and fresh bread (this was the first we used this bakery). Everyone absolutely loved the desserts and the garlic bread we made from the fresh bread I ordered was incredible!!! I plan to order again for my next dinner party!

Everything in this bakers is delicious ,the reason for one star is the staff ,was in earlier on in the week and the female assistant was really rude ,I went in yesterday and the male assistant was even ruder , definitely in need of staff training, really don't know why I keep going in because I don't think there has been a pleasant assistant in the shop ,not a good advert for St Andrews.

We popped in here as the window display was very tempting but when we went inside there wasnt much choice at all and it was all very expensive. We opted for some strawberry tarts which were £2 each which is ridiculous as they were tiny...

We spent the morning in St Andrews and someone recommended the fudge doughnuts at Fisher & Donaldson. It was, hands down the best doughnut I have ever had the pleasure to eat. The staff and the shop were lovely. Highly recommend!

Tried the fudge doughnuts which are great. Also enjoyed strawberry tarts and pastries. The buttries weren't too nice and the staff member that served us could have been friendlier. But the quality and selection of sweet items, even later in the day, was impressive.

Service is average but the fudge donuts are AMAZING! Best donut I have ever tasted! They really live up to the hype. The sough soft with a slight chew, not hard or dense. And the custard inside is lovely. Must try if you are in the area.

We always visit this first class bakery when in St Andrews. Staff are always so helpful and courteous. A wonderful range of cakes, sandwiches and pies. We particularly love their fudge doughnuts.

Need to learn how to smile and the words please and thank you. Asked what a couple of their cakes were and they grunted the answers. Shame on them....at wad as if they were doing us a favour. As a fellow Scot I was ashamed are their standard of courtesy

Very rude staff member ruined the experience. The lady started packing cakes when we were going through choices with our kids then became irate with us when we said we didn't want all the cakes she had put aside for us. She made it clear it was our fault but to save a scene we paid and left with an extra donut. The cakes were good. The staff member needs manners and patience.

Whenever I’m in the area I’ll visit Fisher & Donaldson to buy the Fudge Donut. They’re the item that everyone comes here for. I’ve experienced some poor service on repeat visits but if you’re popping in for a quick purchase, you should be fine.

Long time customer, been coming here for a decade, but this last cake I bought leaves a lot to be desired. More cream than sponge see picture, the bottom layer is 7-8mm thick, I used to buy this cake every few months and the bottom layer is never that thin before. Fudge donut and other smaller treats are still amazing though.

Visited way back in September. Just wanted some snacks after wandering around St. Andrews. The long queue and high rating on TA persuaded me to come in. The social distancing meant that queues stretched out into the street and once inside, there is a one way system in place that also does a good job of guiding customers past the displays. I thought the available desserts were limited considering the size of the shop, but there were still enough options to choose from. We got ourselves a couple of Scottish favourites, creamed buns. They were delicious.

Solo quería algunos bocadillos después de pasear por la calle. Andrews. La larga cola y la alta calificación en TA me persuadieron de entrar. El distanciamiento social significó que las colas se extendían hacia la calle y, una vez dentro, existe un sistema unidireccional que también hace un buen trabajo al guiar a los clientes más allá de las pantallas.Pensé que los postres disponibles eran limitados considerando el tamaño de la tienda, pero todavía había suficientes opciones para elegir. Mi compañero es de Fife, así que aparentemente las donas de dulce de azúcar son legendarias, sin embargo, fui allí dos veces durante 2 días y me fui sin nada, casi sin pasteles, sé que son tiempos difíciles, pero para este momento las cosas deberían estar funcionando especialmente hay menos turistas!

Amazing cakes especially coffee towers

Their coffee towers and fudge doughnuts are the stuff of legends. They are generous on the pastry and the filling. The doughnuts are of ample proportions and filled with plenty of filling.

Well they make everything that they sell. From Scotch Pies, to Fresh Cream Cakes, from breads to rolls. It is all great to eat at a price even the school kids can afford.

Delicious as always and thankfully they had my favourite strawberry pastry this time! However we have never been disappointed with what we have bought, will be back again and again and again 😁😁😁😁

Sign at shop door made it quite clear customers were required to wear masks. So no more fudge donuts for me after 40 years shopping here.

No estoy seguro de por qué esta pastelería tiene tanta influencia en el mercado de la calle Andrews cuando hay tantos otros lugares con opciones más frescas e interesantes. He estado en F&D varias veces con la esperanza de obtener resultados diferentes, pero todo lo que he recibido ha sido una decepción, ya sea un poco rancio o no tan rico como uno podría esperar. ¡Prueba con otra pastelería!

Their cakes and pies are excellent. The rhubarb tart probably the best I have ever had, but the prices are not cheap. If you are looking for quality, yes, but be prepared to pay for it. Though the vending machine they put out on the street at night with various delights was quaint, staff claimed it was used regularly by' the students

This is a great bakery in town that we stopped at and purchased a selection of meat pies to take back to our self catering digs.Although primarily known for their sweets.You can't miss the place withe the smells and the view in their window.

I went into St. Andrews for some cake and also had a lovely cheese and tomato roll there, first nice food in two days at the Fairmont.
