Went in for coffee and cake as had heard they do gluten free options. Sat down and ordered coffees and asked for gluten free cake. Was informed they didn’t have anything gluten free. Really shouldn’t have options on the menu they don’t have. Had a coffee which was ok but nothing special. Didn’t feel like the most welcoming place either.

Best scones I've ever tasted in my whole life! If you're looking for traditional British cakes then this is the place. Friendly and professional staff and welcoming atmosphere. Great tea and cappuccinos. I highly recommend a visit there. Not expensive either. They also sell home made chocolate in all shapes and sizes which are suitable for gifts.

This used to be a great bakery but sad to say it has gone downhill. The rhubarb pies just taste of sugar no hint of rhubarb and they were undercooked. The cakes we had were all way too sweet and sugary and was disappointed to see palm oil on the list of ingredients in the oat cakes, usually a sign of poor quality, mass production.

Popped in for lunch and we had 1) Bacon butty 2) Scotch Pie (or Peh as they are known in Dundee) and 3) Baguette. All very nice as was the espresso I had and the others enjoyed their drinks too. Lovely friendly staff. Bought a box of goodies to take away with us for later too - especially as this is our last trip to Dundee for a while so I just had to have a fudge donut! Son chose some millionaires shortbread and a froggy fancy and we also had an apple charlotte to go with some strawberries for dessert later. Love this place ... my idea of heaven!

Firstly this is not a restaurant.. Secondly the quality is not high bit the prices are most certainly sky high... Living in France I know that this baker hasn't the faintest idea of bread making or pâtisserie.. My recommendation is to avoid..

I'm appalled by the quality and prices! Bought strawberry pastries, coffee towers, and some chocolates. The pastries were tiny and soggy, the coffee towers were solid and tasted old! The chocolates were absolutely disgusting! Tastes like cheap chocolate with too much butter in it! They label it as "Belgian chocolate" which it definitely isn't and charge £4 per bar which is a total rip off! Go to tesco or lidl and get actually good chocolate that's the quarter of the price! The prices of the cakes are insane for what you get and I was informed that the prices have been raised right before Christmas! £2.15 for a single tiny strawberry tart and £2.49 for a single small santa biscuit and I was informed it's almost double that if you sit in! They think they are "superior" bakers but they are clearly just greedy with mediocre products which are not worth even half what they are charging. No quality or consistency with fudge donuts and yum yums being massive one day and half the size the other and still the same price! Actually disgusted they charge such prices for poor quality cakes and staff will be the ones that receive all the backlash from customers not the incompetent owners! Go to Clarks or Greggs, you will get much better quality products for much better prices.

Popped in for coffee & a cake whilst visiting the town centre. Service was fine - fairly prompt (it wasn't very busy to be fair). Strawberry Donut was great - reallllly nice. Also had a pot of tea & a cappuccino - coffee to be honest was disappointing, became a white coffee within about 20 seconds - also could have been hotter. Nice place, great cakes, shame about the coffee......

Came here to buy some Dundee cakes to take home as gifts as this wakey was recommended as the best place to buy them in dundee. Came back the next day with our son to have lunch as the produce looked so tasty. We tried lots of the local delicacies such as Scots pie, onion bridie and the absolutely amazing fudge doughnuts

What a relief to find a traditional Scottish bakery and tearoom, After being on holiday in Edinburgh for the past couple of days with its very expensive flashy eateries what a relief it was to come across a traditional Scottish bakery with its tearoom. It transported me back to an era that was less hurried and to wee shops that had been in place for decades. The type of place your granny would have bought her morning rolls and loaf of bread. There were rows of freshly baked rhubarb tarts,Scotch pies, bridies other cakes and the square fresh dairy cream trifles beloved of my childhood! The decor was very much original 1950s and so refreshing to see this compared to the bland uniform corporate decor found internationally so you don’t know if you are in Dundee or Denmark. This is a place that is traditionally Scottish with baking to match. I had the stories with tasty oatcakes followed by a coffee tower bun which was oozing with fresh dairy coffee flavoured cream in a Choux pastry bun. My partner had the homemade tomato and basil soup with a bacon roll followed by a dairy cream Devon slice. The service was lovely and couthy. The bill came to a very reasonable 16 pounds or so for the pair of us. If any tourist wants to sample old traditional Scotland ,before it vanishes under a sea of concrete, then do come here!

Visited the shop recently in Whitehall Street in Dundee, bought cakes and savoury pies to take away, the products were ok, quite expensive for what you get. Was served by a young man which I assume was a new employee in training, the young man was friendly and efficiently started packing the cakes, however, an older women runned up to him which I assumed was training him and started shouting that he's doing everything wrong being rude to the new employee and myself. If the shop staff can't even treat their coworkers with respect I don't expect they treat customers any better!!

Have visited this cafe several times before and always been happy with the service. The food is plain but of good quality and reasonable value for money. As a rule, the staff are friendly and welcoming- particularly the lady who serves behind the counter. However on this particular occasion, the woman who served us ( I had not seen her before) was impatient, unpleasant and sharp in her manner. She made my friend and I feel ill at ease. Such a shame because I’d think twice about going back, especially since there are plenty coffee shops to chose from in town.

Ridiculously expensive and not worth the money. All the cakes bought were stale. We had one éclair, two fondant fancies and a finger doughnut. They were all dry. Staff needs vast improvement. You walk in and they continue talking whilst seemingly assessing you with looks of disgust. Like you're a hindrance. If you want fantastic baked goods visit Clarks bakery. The cakes are always fresh and you can even order online to have them delivered to your home. Not just cakes but hot and cold drinks, wraps, filled baguettes, pies and a wide range of amazingly delicious products. (No- I don't work for them but I know great value when I taste it.) I buy a lot of products like this on a regular basis and I can say with certainty that I won't be spending another single penny at this out dated establishment.

Called into Perth Road, Dundee lunchtime Saturday, 22nd on the way home. Asked for 6 bridies (our favourites) but got curt reply that we'd need to book 6 in advance! Subsequent attempts to "lighten up" the assistant fell on stony ground. When we got home, bridies were excellent, but coffee towers were very disappointing. Filling excellent but choux pastry hard, dry and harsh in the mouth. No excuse for a choux - maybe not fresh? Tiffins were so-so. The very high price level Fisher and Donaldson retain means that quality should be guaranteed. Poor customer service suggests unacceptable recruitment and management standards. Complacency? I love Scottish baking and despair as so many local firms collapse so I want F&D to flourish but they need to get a grip!

Visited with husband and 2 grown up children before a show. The menu is quite compact but we all managed to choose different dishes so we could try everyone's! We had crostini, fishcakes and blaggis to start. All perfectly pleasant. The crostini in particular was popular. Our mains again were lovely although I found the pork a little dry and uninspiring, the mash could have been creamier. The star of the show was the onion rings we ordered on the side - these are delicious. We didn't have time for pudding so asked for the bill. This took a while to come. When it did arrive, we noticed one of the bottles of wine hadn't been added. We pointed this out and it was taken away to be amended. We again waited a LONG time, the kids went upstairs to the bar and a server eventually returned the same bill saying they couldn't fix it and just to add the price of the wine on it! I didn't find this very professional and was actually a bit uncomfortable as I tried to work out how much we owed whilst also trying to sort out a tip! It really spoiled the end of what had been quite a nice meal. To sum up, probably wouldn't visit again The food is fine, the environment pleasant and handy obviously for the theatre! However, whilst nice enough, I found the servers to be a bit unsure and not terribly skilled in the execution of their job.

Unfortunately the once excellent chilli burger from the characteristic pheonix bar let us down after years of being the best in dundee (in my opinion). The Chilli was warm, not hot as expected (not warm enough to even melt the cheese on top). Historicly the burger was never the best but simply an accompaniment for the tasty chilli, the new Scotts burgers are hard compacted with no taste or char to indicate a cooked fresh feel, more a pre cooked and just reheated on demand afair. The "fall apart" softie rolls used would be better swapped to a toasted brioche bun. Fortunately i opted not to eat the burger but 2 of us were still ill. A shame as the chilli was a "go to" for us on any day out.
