There are a few reviews now regarding portion sizes and pricing. Though the manager does a good job replying to all reviews the owner must be careful the replies are not seen as insincere (lies). Because 4 months ago a reply said they would "investigate" the complaint yet my photo shows a Regular portion of chips is still smaller in size than... a fork and a Medium Cod of £8.60 is the same size as a fork. Energy costs have increased but potatoes are still grown in our country. If you want to make profits, keep the Mid-sized cod priced at near £10 but be generous with lower cost chips. Currently this Fish n' Chick'n shop offers far too little value for money at this cost of living time. We have been to other fish n chip shops with bigger portions at lower cost. Please no more investigating.. time to show you are listening to your customers. Additional: the owner has provided a good response so I have increased the star rating

Food is always pretty good but it's expensive, I suppose that's can due to them being part of a chain. They do do deals from time to time so worth signing up to the app.

Great food but make sure you check the bag as this is the 4th time I've been and they forgot something. Think staff need to look at the order and make sure the order is correct.

I ordered 4 fish and chips on saturday 13/4 and i was very dissapointed with the chips.. ive been here regularly but this time not happy at all. Chips were very bad,soggy and not the same as how it was all the time..normal traditional chips!! I had to throw away most of it. Wasted my £40+ there. Not going there again now.

I had to wait, but was happy to as the food is delicious, they were so kind and i was offered free ice-cream as the order took longer than expected. I just appreciated them cooking my food for me. Thank you so much for your service and ice cream but I didn't mind the wait.

Always seem To be waiting longer than the anticipated time for a burger to be cooked. Staff aren't very polite and tonight asked for a burger and they completely forgot about the burger and stood around grinning like a Cheshire cat The rest only bothered with the fish. Absolutely unacceptable for the staff not to hear that a burger was required within the order. It seems incompetence of the staff seems to be the order

Great chippy with some unusual items on menu. Some good lunchtime and OAP deals which negate the high cost of fish and chips these days. Can get busy especially early evenings, closes at 10pm.

The food is lovely but the portion size of the chips is shocking. Never have I ever seen a large portion of chips so small, it’s enough for one adult, not two. This is the only thing that lets this place down, which is a shame as I have no complaint with the quality of the food or service but the chips portion is not value for money.

We stumbled upon this branch of Fishn Chickn in Hutton whilst visiting our family and I can honestly say my Wife and I were amazed that places like this still exist. A nice clean looking shop, with happy and helpful staff. A nice variety of food to choose from and all expertly cooked. I would struggle to suggest better than this. A must if passing and many other branches if not.

Food is good, but very expensive compared to other outlets. Staff are friendly but jot always engaging when you first enter the takeaway.

Bought a large portion of chips for £4.45 and because it was a takeaway we got done with a regular size 😡 I know times are hard but maybe it’s because their competitor in Shenfield has gone out of business and they can do this because there’s no choice. Disappointed

Stingiest portions I've ever seen. I went to the shop for two regular cod & chips, hoping to get fresh chips for a change, as opposed to ordering online. I've never spent so much for such small portions - £19.90 is ridiculously expensive for what they served. I wish I'd checked it properly before leaving the shop because I'd have asked for my money back. The portions were about the same size as a child's portion from alternative vendors. How come the fillets are a regular 12mm thick! I'm sure the cod I caught last year were 5 or 6 times thicker. A review earlier mentioned "generous portions"... definitely not my experience and must have been from a different branch. About 30 chips each portion crammed into a small box on top of the fish. 2 weeks ago it was worse with chips that looked like they'd been left out for hours... all soggy and barely warm. The pub down the road does cod that hangs off your plate, twice as thick and real chips for not much more money. We've learned our lesson, its just not worth the money.

Pensioners cod and chips is more like a fish finger and small handful of chips. At 6 quid, compared to all other places this is by far the worst value. The previous time went to this shop the cod I had was full of bones. Suggest avoiding as there are far better shops around than this one.

How rude The staff in there are so rude. I haven’t been in there for a few years because the manager was always on the phone showering at the top of his voice on a personal call taking no notice of the customers. I was always very stroppy with the customers as well Today I goes in there a battered sausage has gone up to £2.75. I question test to make sure that she had the right order her response as she rolls her eyes and huffs. ‘I do not make the prices’ I just walked out and will not be going back in there .

I’m following up on a visit like previous reviews on click and collect out of three orders over last few weeks two were wrong with items missing whole meals . It’s all very well apologising offering discount on next order but your missing people meals and there expensive ! Needs a review on QA and systems .Shame but really letting yourselves down we’re considering going elsewhere !

Great food lovely service will go again

Nice food but always get the order wrong when you click and collect. I usually always get the chicken burger for my son on the way home from work. I always select the option of NO CHEESE and to include Mayo + lettuce. It even says it on the receipt stapled to the bag, so I know I’m not going insane thinking I accidentally didn’t select it. They pretty much always put cheese in, which is a pain since my son is allergic to dairy. The first two times I didn’t check thinking they wouldn’t have put it as requested, so I drove the food home but he had to have my burger instead because of the cheese. And all the other times there’s no lettuce and a small dollop of Mayo, which thank goodness he still eats, but still not as nice as when they actually do it correctly 😂 I’d say if u wanna order from them, call up or go there in person, but don’t do the clock and collect, especially if your a fussy eater like me and my son 😂

I find this place very hit and miss. Today a total miss, chips over cooked and cold. Two young girls left alone to cook, take customer orders and phone orders is an absolute joke! Totally rushed of their feet and struggling to keep up.

It was very nice, all freshly cooked but very expensive I felt. Probably as the price of fish has gone up. I don't regularly have this type of takeaway so wouldn't know the going rate. They had an order and collect service too.

Food was decent but that Sam is a proper cow. Should be sacked ASAP. Also sort out his trim, needs improvement.

Excellent service, EXCELLENT fish and Chips! Curry Sauce! I'm sorry I didn't double up on it! It was great! New to the area, couldn't get an order for FnC through a delivery provider so checked their website and found they could deliver themselves! Was happy and 30 minutes after was well fed too! 😊 I don't normally leave reviews but, believe it or not, I rang the restaurant to thank them for their super prompt service and Excellent meal actually! I was that impressed! l! I promised I would leave a review too fot this and above it is! Will DEF be a return customer to these guys!

These guys truly go above and beyond at this chippy! We ordered some of the vegan dishes through Just Eat and swiftly were called by the shop to let us know that they were out of stock and alternatives were offered. My husband and I decided we would leave it and asked for a refund and the manager Ky could not be more obliging. We were then looking at what else we could get to eat when Ky then called us back and said that he could send a driver to Billericay to get stock of what we had ordered, bring it back, cook it and then deliver it to us! (we had previously said we would collect) We were honestly blown away by this gesture and within 40 minutes of the call, our piping hot meal was delivered to our door!! Couldn't ask for better service and cannot recommend this chippy highly enough!

We had the best service and delicious food from these guys yesterday. I called earlier in the week to pre order 24 meals and spoke to the manager Ky, who couldn’t have been more obliging, he explained exactly how to order, promised boxes with cutlery and condiments plus free delivery! The order was just as he promised, all meals correct, hot and so delicious everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal, absolutely perfect a great way to feed your guest without all the hassle. Thank you all xxx

Last Saturday we decided to treat ourselves to a take away while watching Eurovision Song Contest. We had a Banging Burger each with a portion of Loaded Fries; they were very good and will certainly want more. Unfortunately l don’t live locally but will make the effort to go there again. Food well cooked, ready on time, shop clean. Recommend + +

Now iv started using them again the food is very hit and miss but... 1 male tonight was very rude on the phone and when I collected the food😡I'm don't know who he thinks he is BUT he is laughable,the young girls are lovely and polite

Ordered half a chicken and chips. The portion size was very substantial and the chicken tasted lovely. Been here a few times now and would highly recommend. Especially for £6.50. Oh, and the curry sauce is amazing

Dreadful. To be fair, they have said they’d give us a refund. The point is, as places are currently takeaway/delivery only, we’re keen to support local businesses. It’s disappointing when the said local businesses deliver cold food that’s been poorly cooked in the first place. Ribs shouldn’t be tough! All of it went in the bin. Friday dinner ruined and shan’t be ordering from here again. Shame.

Hi ordered senior cod and chips. Always use this place.The fish was lovely and hot but the chips were so hard and crunchy I could not eat them which was a shame. There was an hour to closing so maybe I was given what was left?

Used FishnChicken Hutton click and collect service for first time this week. Staff pleasant and food ready at the door at my allocated time. However the portion sizes were very very poor! I ordered 2 large cod and large chips for my wife and I and daughter and son in law to share and by the time we had split the meals 4 ways we each had a small plate of food. Also the chips were soggy, very white and undercooked. Would no no longer recommend

Used to love this place as it stood head and shoulders above all others in the area. It is now just average and bettered by other newer ones. Staff are generally pleasant and efficient but the quality is not up to the standards it used to be. Chips are full of bits and fish more greasy than it used to be. To be fair it is ok but it used to be great! Recommended still for a good fish supper but be aware others have stolen it's crown....

Tonight I unfortunately had the worst service ever. Another customer and I laughed with amusement as it was so shocking. Upon entering the shop I was ignored, whilst the two servers discussed how one was leaving and the other had got another job. I was then asked if I wanted serving !! But instead of asking me what I would like, they continued with their conversation. I then loadly asked for just a portion of chips, he then actually took notice of me. Phew I got me chips ! The other customer commented on the shop being empty which is no surprise if the service is now this poor. When I got home I wasn’t surprised to find I had been served a half portion of chips. Not good fish n chick n. That’s two customers that won’t be returning.

Tells my Dad they don't have any lettuce for my chicken fillet burger, in hindsight I should of changed to a piece of cod at that point. My Dad's phoning me asking if I want cheese on it instead as they are asking him... cheese? In a chicken burger? No i want lettuce, what kind of burger serving fast food place doesn't have lettuce, should of sent your delivery guy out to resupply. The burger came all squashed up to the side of the box, fillet wasn't crispy the mayo was on only half, the brioche bun for the burger was unnecessary and didn't add anything over a normal bun. The funniest thing was the ironic burger box, "crispy lettuce" and "burger just how you like it" lol... such fail.
