I visited here for the first time with my Aunt. It is a small, quaint place that could be hard to miss. Despite this, I absolutely enjoyed my experience here. The staff were so friendly, warm and polite. They went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed our evening and the food. The menu is not extensive, but there is something there for everyone. My Aunt and I had the fishcake main, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. It tasted fresh along with the sides. The best part was the Baileys cheesecake... to die for... to top it off it was reasonably priced. You do have the option of doing a 2- or 3-course meal for £15-£19.50 or A La Carte menu. Either way, this is highly recommended and I will visit again.

Food is so bad it is actually laughable. Prawn and avacado salad which was inexplicably served in a popodam that was so stale. Pork belly was equally as poor and resembled a school dinner. Owner is also very rude - avoid

Worst meal in London! No surprise it is empty on a Saturday! Poor service. Shocking food. Do not attend!

Fuimos a este restaurante esta noche en grupo y estaba absolutamente disgustado por lo que se me presentó. ¡Pedí la panceta de cerdo que solo puedo describir como un trozo grueso de tocino cocido con algunas patatas fritas y zanahorias! Un amigo ordenó una comida y sacó el artículo equivocado. . . 10 minutos después, esto fue reemplazado y nos dijeron que, independientemente de que lo pagáramos porque lo reemplazaron en 10 minutos. ! El gerente fue extremadamente agresivo y nos ordenó pagar 25 servicio por una comida que fue la peor que he tenido en Londres. Uno para evitar.

Buen precio que en Londres si viaja con un presupuesto probablemente sea bienvenido. Tenía la pasta de mariscos como una pequeña porción, estaba bien, pero nada que no pudiera hacer yo mismo, y los mariscos estaban claramente de una bolsa congelada mezclada y demasiado cocidos.Personal amable y no es caro en absoluto. Tienes lo que pagas.

Fob wasn’t bad but any order arrived within 15 Mn of ordering. We Tried it but wouldn’t come back. It’s definitely cheap and it is the only positive point.

Have been to this quirky little restaurant befor and it’s alway a lovely eating experience - great food and value for money. Glad to see it’s still popular and I’ll definitely be going back again soon

This restaurant is a bit like stepping back in time to the 70s or 80s it’s quite old fashioned inside and quite basic. Red and white checked table clothes it’s a bit like a french bistro. This was my second visit and I really love this place service is friendly and efficient The food is well cooked with some unusual dishes on offer The main thing is also it is great value for money a set 2 course meal being I think around £15 A fun place

This restaurant is located near to the Clapham Junction train station. It has good list of food including meat and fish and other sort. Inside the restaurant you might attracted to the different shapes of vintage mirrors as well as some chairs from local church. It has lots of seating provided downstairs and upstairs.

Fantastic restaurant, delicious food, excellent friendly service. We were with a group of 16 people and the service was impeccable, the food delicious, I will be back. Thank you for a lovely relaxed evening :)

Fish in a Tie has been a favourite of mine for years and years and I have brought groups of friends here repeatedly but my recent experiences have made me wonder what’s going on. I chose from the £9 lunch menu and noticed that the tilapia fish which was meant to come with the delicious dill sauce had a small spoonful of plain bechamel type sauce with no flavour at all. Instead of two hot vegetables it came with carrots and a few salad leaves with a bit of mash. It used to be served with a green vegetable like broccoli. The size of the desserts have decreased. My main complaint though is that the restaurant was cold and had horrible loud music playing which made it very hard to have a conversation. There was also a cold atmosphere- very few customers and a waiter with a pony tail who looked bored stiff and didn’t once ask if we were enjoying the meal. In fact he had to be called away from his mobile on two occasions and didn’t even say goodbye when I left though I had to pass right in front of him. Perhaps there’s been a change of ownership? We all agreed we would not be returning in a hurry. So sad.

Today was my second time at the restaurant and I love it! In addition to a la carte, the restaurant has fantastic daily specials with a two courses’ menu for £9, starter and main course. Puddings are an extra £4.50. They make their own tartar sauce for the scampi, they proposed alternatives to the dill sauce, hollandaise or salsa which were fantastic. My Amaretto cheese cake was superb, light and not too sweet.Service is laid back yet attentive, the Italian owner pretending to be a mere waiter, the decor attractive with various big mirrors dotted around. We stayed 2 hours and a half without being prompted to leave at any point. Fantastic and worth a special trip!

Visited here after a day at the Ski & snowboard Fesrival. Food was good, would have liked it served a bit hotter, other than that there was a good selection. The service was quick with polite and friendly staff. As a matter of not much interest,the ladies loo was rather cramped, dont know how oversized ladies manage!!!

Came for dinner with family. Excellent, friendly but not intrusive service. Great menu choice ... Fish if you want it, but plenty of alternatives. We had three courses. No negatives at all. Definitely on my visit again list and very close to CJ station if you come out from platform one exit.

Been here a few times over the last decade. I have never been disappointed, food is always brilliant and the whole ambiance is great. Strongly recommended if your in the area, just make sure you book as it can get busy.

Los postres eran sabrosos, me gustó mucho la mousse de chocolate. El personal era amable, pero no volvió a ver si estábamos contentos con la comida. I went to this restaurant for a second time. On both occasions it was for a celebration. Both times the food was excellent, as was the service. great value for money. I will be back!

I found this little place as it's close to the Travelodge. It's a simple sort of Bistro (paper table cloths) with nice food and reasonably priced. I will come here again.

As a visitor to London I was surprised to find this little gem in Battersea. Very friendly service with good food at a very fair price. Several local friends suggested it and I am happy that I took them up on it.

It is easy to get seated and service is very efficient. The fish dishes are simply cooked, but very well prepared. The fish dishes are cooked well and are presented economically. It would be nice if bread came with the mussels rather than being a paid addition! We felt also as if our main was sitting a while and hit the microwave before coming out. The ambiance is very nice, but the standard of food has just slipped slightly in recent years.

Ended up here a couple of weeks ago with some family friends, quite by surprise and unplanned. They recommended it as they hadn't been for a while and as it was vegetarian friendly.

This is an old school family run restaurant with decent homemade food and great service at a good price point- no complaints there! We had a table of 9 and everyone very much enjoyed their meal. Large portions and kids loved the pasta. Reasonably priced wine and we will be back.

We chose Fish in a Tie for lunch with friends. Delicious fresh food, perfectly seasoned, lovely deserts. We had roast lamb in slightly spiced tomato sauce, chicken tricolore and salmon fillet, tiramisu, profiteroles and vanilla ice cream. Excellent service, pleasant environment and perfect choice of music. Highly recommended!!!

I went for dinner with some friends and we were very pleased.

This restaurant it’s exactly what I love about small independent businesses. You always received great service with a personal touch and you can tell those guys love their job and hospitality word make sense again. Every day you can have daily special or have a la Carte. I ate pork belly with roasted veggie on the site and spinach salad and it tasted like home made dish. Balleys cheesecake to finish with and glass of hot cognac on the site. I will be back soo for sure! Well done. Ps: you don’t need to spend much to eat good!

By far the worst restaurant I’ve had the misfortune of visiting in decades. Ordered from the specials, not the set menu. Parsons pastry dish was greasy, strange and one of the weirdest things ever presented on a plate. Not sure what it was trying to be....but basically deep fried puff pastry with very questionable filing. Served with a dollop of creme fraiche. Really?????

Looking for a nice quiet restaurant for an evening meal we found the Fish in a Tie.

I've been to this restaurant a few times now and find the food and service to be consistently good, as well as being good value. On this occasion I ordered steak and it was delicious, just exactly as I ordered it (medium). The vegetables were perfectly cooked. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming, what you would hope you'd find in an unpretentious neighbourhood restaurant. I wasn't in the best of moods when I arrived, but a combination of good company, good food and good service cheered me up no end!

Lovely decorated little restaurant with friendly staff. The starters were ok. The beef carpacio was served on salad which I have never seen before and the quality of the beef wasn't great. The garlic mushrooms were ok and I've had better. The stuffed fish with crab was disappointing and lacked oomph. Whatever flavour the crab was in over powered its delicate taste and the veg was boiled to death. The one saving grace was the creme brulee. Won't be returning here again

We arranged a surprise for my father in laws 60th birthday a table of 9 we all had starters and mains some had deserts. The choux pastry stuffed with crap meat was very nice as always all the other dishes would definitely return the proof is in the pictures.

He best value food in the area! High quality at an unbeatable price!! Classic Mediterranean dishes and amazing value cocktails!

I also wanted to give no stars if I could. Food was great and the waiter was very friendly. What spoilt a very good afternoon lunch was the owner glaring over to our table when we finished and paid for our food. We stayed and talked for 15 to 20 minutes while we digested our food. This was obviously too much for the owner who made his feelings known.

Brings back memories of Left Bank bistros in Paris ......lovely food, lovely service and lovely price. Go on, give it a go - you won't be disappointed 💋💋

Service was impeccable and the food was incredible. Found the restaurant through apple maps while staying in the area for a two day seminar and each of my 3 courses was equally fantastic. Despite being a silo dinner i was never left waiting on service and this on a busy Saturday night. Will be recommending to my London friends.

Muy peculiar con diferentes espejos de estilo y arañas. El menú era interesante. Optamos por los mejillones y los calamares marinados, ambos deliciosos, de hecho el marido considera los mejores mejillones que ha tenido nunca. Seguí con el atún chamuscado, que fue cocinado a la perfección. El marido tenía el filete de cordero marinado, que era increíble. Lavado con una botella fría de Pinot Grigio Blush. Impresionante comida a un precio asequible. Volveremos pronto.

Have previously struggled to find a good restaurant close to Clapham Junction, however now we’ve found this one we’ll definitely be back. Good cozy atmosphere and the excellent food was priced very reasonably. The only fault was that our booking wasn’t in their book but as we were eating early evening it didn’t matter as there was plenty of room. I guess this could have been a problem if we’d arrived peak time. Keep up the good work guys

FIsh in a tie is a great discovery. I was amazed about the fast & efficient service, delicious food, big portion size and good price. The atmosphere is really nice and it feels so homey. I believe once you visit this place, you just want to return again.

What a fantastic place! The food was exceptional, service impeccable and the prices are amazing value. My only slight gripe was our table was at the back area up the steps which was a tad chilly and lacked a bit of ambience.

It's no surprise that this great little place is really popular with locals and those in the know. It's a short walk from Clapham Junction station but on its less well known north side. The service is friendly and really efficient. They've got a good nenu with extensive daily specials on a blackboard. The food is terrific too - the potato skins as a starter, the salmon or tuna steakm the pastas and the banoffee pie are all excellent. It's astonishingly goof value for this part of London too. They are also really flexible about catering for vegans and other dietary needs.

Ended up in here almost by accident but really glad we did. The food was excellent, obviously home cooked and portion size was fantastic. Only down side was the lack of vegetarian choices, although the one option was superb. The cheesecake was a naughty treat but delicious. The staff were really friendly and attentive without being intrusive and the whole evening was really enjoyable. Definitely recommend, it won’t disappoint.

This is one of my favourite restaurants in South London. We came here as a group of 4 on a Friday night and I had the the goats cheese salad and knuckle of lamb which was delicious. Easy to park nearby and also only a 5 min walk behind Clapham Junction station. It's very popular so best to book at the weekend.

This quirky little place is just such a great little gem!

We have been coming here for the last three years and have never been let down. I would strongly recommend prior booking. We went on a Monday and a Thursday and the place was booked out on Thurs and almost full on the Monday. Strongly recommend the set price menu and the food is always exceptional. I would especially highly commend all the wait staff for their excellent service. You all should try this restaurant. If you are staying in London just take the overground to Clapham junction and the restaurant is a 5 minute walk from there. We will certainly return on our visit next year.

Didn’t have a reservation but managed to get a table despite the restaurant being busy. Great menu with a varied range of specials. Went for the 3 course menu, crab starter was very tasty, salmon excellent and delicious vegetables especially the potatoes, then yum cheesecake. Food and drink very reasonably priced. Cabernet Sauvignon was top quality. Would highly recommend.

Went to this lovely restaurant last night. Very busy with a lively atmosphere. Although it was busy service was prompt and friendly. Good choice of food both on very reasonably priced set menu, a la carte and specials. The gypsy lamb was really well flavoured and tender. Two courses for three and bottle of wine £55. Excellent and highly recommended.

Cosy atmosphere, good food and a nice service. I loved the spice prawns and ths gipsy lamb. I would absolutely reccomend it.

The Fish in a Tie restaurant is a really wonderful place to eat and excellent value. I took a friend there this evening and for a three course meal plus drinks it was £52. From Clapham Junction you go out of the main Shopping Cente exit, then left at the traffic junction, under the bridges and it’s the bright purple building on the right of the road. I thought that I would give them a mention because the place was empty, although they provide very good service and there is a special menu board in addition to the standard menu.. have a look at my photos of Tuna and beef burgeoning meals - yum!

We stopped outside of regular dinner hours and we were the only clients. Good service and tasteful old decor. The fillet of sea bass was very good, the spicy calamari salad ok. Great value

Hemos estado comiendo en este restaurante por más de 20 años cuando vuelva a Battersea para visitar a la familia. No fue hasta cero - pidió la especial - la solla rellenos de cangrejo. Era de hecho un filete de solla seco envuelto alrededor de un trozo de naranja picante algo que podría haber sido la carne oscura del cangrejo y abrumado a cualquier paladar que podría haber sido de la solla, fue acompañado de patatas y verduras. This place is so lovely. The food is homemade and is to a high standard. All 7 of us were hugely impressed. My only criticism is that I felt that waiting staff could be slightly more proactive.

Went on a Wednesday night (around 9.30pm) and 2 of us had the 2 course set menu. The food was good, not the most amazing food ever, but really good on the whole (and GREAT for the price!)

had high expectations after hearing great things about this place, couldnt be further from the truth. food was appalling, 4 of our group ate nothing.was charged £3 for a slice of wholemeal bread cut into 4 and half a pre-frozen baguette. the waiter leaned over one of our guests dinner plate. we was rushed out. whole experience was dredful.

I would give no stars if that was an option. Honestly the worst restaurant I have ever had the displeasure of eating at. Two of us visited the restaurant and after receiving our starters of calamari and fried mozzarella, along with a bottle of wine, we cancelled the rest of our order and left. Both starters were served with what was clearly a pre-packaged handful of mixed salad dumped out on the plate straight from the bag, and a dollop of what was clearly sour cream and chive dip straight from the pot as well (the dip was what one might eat Doritos with). The mozzarella was also clear straight from the packet and recooked poorly, and go knows where they found the calamari. I am completely confused how others have rated this so highly. Perhaps the chef was off, but somehow I doubt that seeing as nothing was mentioned when we made the decision to leave, feeling disappointed and hungry.

Four of us ate there tonight. I have been there four or five times and have never failed to be impressed. Not on the main drag, it has a lot of locals as regulars. I had the set £13 menu and I challenge any eaterie in the 0207 phone area to do it better. Generous nuanced crab filled choux pastry with a subtle kick (2) followed by pork loin with mushroom sauce (4 slices) with vegetables including notable carrots. I couldn't finish either course so don't understand previous comments about portion sizes. A companion said his pasta special starter could not be bettered so I asked him about his subsequent pork goulash and crème brulee. Equalled, he said. His was from the a la carte. £127 including 3 bottles of really drinkable Chilean wine. Two of the group are gifted cooks and couldn't fault the food, service, atmosphere or value. Oh taste and see...

A friend booked this up for 6 of us to have lunch before the rugby. I had the chicken liver pate, that looked a bit tired and the pork belly, all OK but not that inspiring. The wine was excellent and the service was good, reasonable price too. Atmosphere was a bit flat. Worth a visit, if you have not been, but the presentation of the dishes needs to be improved

This place is absolutely amazing. The price for all the meals on the menu are great for the value of the food you get. Honestly everything me and my boyfriend have ever tried is amazing starting from starters to mains and desserts. The atmosphere is extremely cozy and warm feels amazing to be there. Staff are all so friendly and lovely, always helpful. Everyone should definitely visit this place as it is honestly a hidden gem.

It would be easy to miss this interesting little restaurant, the exterior of which looked as if it probably had been an old London street corner pub. Inside, there is still evidence of its earlier role as a local pub - but now the split level building is a cosy, charming restaurant. The food is excellent, and the service too. Tasty, value for money food, served at old fashioned tables in a cosy, friendly atmosphere. There seemed to be quite a few local folk eating there - evidence enough of how well thought of this charming place is. Definitely worth a visit.

Food came very quickly, we would've preferred a slightly longer break in between meals. Starters and mains were very tasty and a good price however we ordered banana split for dessert and it the bananas were black which was disappointing.

I came across this restaurant via a general Google search for child-friendly restaurants in the Clapham area. The food is very, very good. The best thing for me was the service - I did not feel rushed at all during the meal, which is generally the case at restaurants in and around Clapham. The starter of prawn avocado salad was lovely and the choux pastry with crab filling was luscious. I had lamb steak for main which melted like butter when I cut through. The lobster dish was nice but not as bold in flavour as I thought it would be. Overall I highly recommend this restaurant and will be back in the very near future - best of all, the ambience is excellent and kids are very welcomed.

We almost walked past as it doesn’t look that obvious. Loads of choice on the menu and specials in addition. The food was well cooked and service was quick. Portions were generous and prices were very reasonable for West London. Not the classiest place for decor but comfortable and does the job. Good place for a nice lunch without having to remortgage which great for London.

Went to celebrate my partners birthday looked up places with good reviews near our hotel and we were not disappointed. Lovely place, food delicious, waitress and waiter Rod (Hope got name correct ) . He was especially lovely and patient when we asked him to change long island ice tea cocktail we had. Really lovely place, well worth a visit if your nearby.

From outside did not look great with scaffolding outside. However once inside nice and cosy atmosphere. The resturant was busy with Christmas parties and birthday party at back . Service was ok as had to keep getting the attention of staff . Had a lovely lamb steak with fries and starters of loaded potato skins which were more like chips. Pudding was disappointingly as no tiramisu. We we were in a work Xmas party . It was better than expected.

Nuestro camarero era muy amable y atento. El servicio fue excelente de principio a fin. No esperar mucho para intentar pagar la factura o que permite un montón de restaurantes. Disfrutamos el vino y la comida estaba deliciosa, pasta y mozzarella como entrantes; filete de salmón y cordero gipsy nuestros platos principales. Comida casera - también acompañamiento hortalizas que eran disfrutamos tanto por nosotros. Una pena no vivir más cerca ya que sin duda volveremos.

Precios razonables, buena calidad de comida (carpaccio de ternera era fresca y tierna), y el servicio es amable y educado. Yo es sin duda alguna poco agradable volver para un almuerzo de negocios o una sola.

Imposta è comodissimo da raggiungere, praticamente tre minuti a piedi dall’uscita della stazione di Clapham lato binario 1. È un pub molto tipico con cucina varia per tutti i gusti. Avete scelta di menu’ già fatti oppure alla carta.Il posto è molto piccolo quindi se possibile prenotare. Personale molto attento ad eventuali allergie e disponibile a consigliare. Prezzi direi accessibili ed economici rispetto alla qualità offerta. Consigliato.

First went to this restaurant about 25 years ago and enjoyed it then. Let it slip under the radar for too long and went back again last week with a bunch of friends. Wehad a selection of dishes and all agreed that they were wonderful.We all ate three couses and were surprised at the size of the bill which also included excellent house red and white winre and a couple of beers. The beef bourguignon was excellent from the specials menu.Will not leave it so long next time.

Had early evening dinner on Saturday evening in Fish in a Tie. As always, great food, service, ambience and value. The portions aren't massive but who cares, at these prices you can order as many courses as you like without worrying about bill!!!

We got seated immediately although we hadn't booked. The menu was very good with choices of fish and meat. All the dishes were very tasty . reasonably priced . And the staff were very friendly and quick. Very good choice!

We were visiting our son in London and he recommended this restaurant. It is definitely a place that you would pass by but DO NOT. The restaurant ticked all the boxes for us. Pleasant staff, nice atmosphere, lovely food and reasonably priced. Would not hesitate to go back

Don't be put off by the exterior! This is surprisingly good.... Friday night so busy but service excellent and so friendly. Food was delicious - fresh and tasty and generous portions. Very reasonable indeed. One definitely to revisit.

A nice little place with a good menu. However they struggled to cope with a group. The food quality was very good but the timing of its arrival was poor. One starter arrived when others had almost finished their mains. I had a lovely lamb steak with pepper but the veg was cold which spoiled it somewhat. I'd try it again with one or two guests but not as a large group.

We love this place as the service is always on point and the food and wine selection is amazing. If you are looking for a nice one to one with the Mrs then this is the place. Its quirky lay out sets the mood, and the lighting is perfect. We have tried most of the food on the menu and its all great standard.

We went to Fish in a Tie twice and would go back to this restaurant anytime. Will be in London next year and will definitely return. You can have a three courses for a very reasonable price. Excellent service and an interesting wine list

The service was terrific and the atmosphere great, cozy London. The food was of mediocre quality and the wine was palatable. Sauces were smothered on all of the fish that was not great. I did like the brick and mortar space on the interior.

We got seated quickly & service was attentive, bright and friendly. The menu was very good and I was surprised to see it had other things on offer apart from fish given the main.The food here is good and a lovely smell of cooking fish emanates from within. The main dish we experienced was simply cooked, but very well prepared; the fish was cooked perfectly and so rather than the plate seeming sparse (with a few simple side vegetables) it instead became beautifully economic. A highlight were the mussels (offered as a starter or a main) and these were particularly delicious and can easily be shared.Being the devil-may-care types we are, we ordered cocktails and these unfortunately were pretty average - but with the food so good and the service so friendly and quick, it didn't seem to matter much.Furthermore, I have no shame in admitting that I am a person who tends to have to watch their purse strings - and this whole meal was incredibly well priced. I recommend 'Fish in a Tie' very much.
