It was the best fish I've ever eaten in my life, the staff is friendly.

My favourite Fish and Chip shop in the area. The Chips are really nice, with a mix of soft and crispy. The Cod is amazing, it tastes fresh and even better with a mix of Salt and vinegar. The batter is crispy and flavourful and never over oily. My friend had the Plaice and he said that was the best piece of Plaice from a Chip shop. It is a busy Chip shop, so be prepared to wait a little, but it is worth it. Definitely one to try, if you haven't already.

Delicious fish and chips with a lovely view of the park. Fish is cooked to perfection, superb choice of sauces: tartare, curry, mushy peas and aioli. Fish is crispy, portions are generous. A great London experience.

1st timer in the place it was a great place to eat staff an other customers were friendly. Food we all ordered was enjoyable and filling . Will be returning in the future.

Food was good, price of fish and chips eating in was higher than expected so will be much better value ordering take away. The seoul bowl was tasty.

Ordered chips online, decent portion but tasted like they'd been fried in old oil

Fish was a bit mushy, not the freshest. Chips were fried not the best and came a bit on the cold side. Mushy peas were flavourless.

This is the second time we've been where the food is now beginning to let us down. Last time the chips were refried. And just now we picked up lunch and the haddock tasted refried - batter was doubled up and tasted chewy and oily. Such a shame because this is our favourite fish and chip shop! Service is always on point and when the food is done right it actually is one of the best. Please don't cut corners Fish House. We can tell :-(

Sometimes the mark of good a resturant is the service you receive after something has gone wrong. Having found the Skate to be under cooked. The approach and level service we got was amazing. Not only did they not hesitate, they followed through straight away and even apologised. They even brought the food to the car, which we wasn't even waiting that long for. They continued to be apologetic throughout and even gave us extra chips. Can't lie! Was very impressed with the quick approach of sorting the issue but sadly may not come again. After a couple of days I have fell ill. However can't fault members of staff professalism was top tier but mix emotion on this one Excellent service 7/10

Unfortunately it's not the same here anymore, my haddock was overcooked and the chips were horrible, Cod and Co on Chatsworth Rd Hackney are my go to for fish and chips now!!!!

I rarely eat fried food of any kind nowdays but very good. Vegan options.

Ordered the bangla wrap and the OG chicken thighs with two regular chips. The chicken was very delicious which was surprising since it was a fish shop. My partner says the bangla wrap was the best wrap he has ever tasted! We both had a good experience and the toilets were modern as well.

Great fish & chips! Both were tasty and good quality and the staff was nice and helpful. The vegan fish was very good and tasty, but the battered sausage was just a Quorn sausage in batter, so a little disappointing. Cool atmosphere and nice place overall.

I've been coming to this restaurant for quite a few years as a takeaway customer and travelling 3 miles home with my food as the food is outstanding! On this occasion, we decided to have a meal in the restaurant and it's the first time I've eaten there since becoming vegetarian and once again I wasn't disappointed 😀 There's a good selection of vegetarian options including Banana Blossom 🌸 which was amazing! It was the first time I've tried Banana Blossom and I'm going to be making it at home as a fish alternative - thanks for opening the doors and my mind to the possibilities. In my experience the food at the Fish House has always been great with queues normally outside the door on Fridays and Saturday evenings - often you'd see a minibus 🚐 of police officers pull up and grab their dinner. There's a pub next door with Victoria Park across the road and a good selection of independent shops and restaurants that make up the parade. Staff are very attentive, helpful and friendly.

Suddenly really expensive but like all other chip shops in that respect. Always good quality and gluten-free batter is a rare treat! New chicken idea is a solid addition.

Totally inconsistent takeaway. Very expensive compared to the nearby Britannia fish bar whose portions put this takeaway to shame. Last night I had tiny filet of plaice (which had probably only 4-5 forkfuls of fish) and my husband wing of skate with 1 portion of chips which was enormous but not wanted by us, for the cost of £33. I don’t think we would mind paying if the portion sizes were consistent rather than so so variable. I hope the owners listen to their local customers and improve.

Fantastic local restaurant. Fish always fresh and portions just right. Today they had a pop up ‘Hot Chick’ I had the Seoul Bun and got to say it’s up there with the best! Super yum sauce! Don’t go anywhere else for your chicken!

Excellent fish and chips. Crisps fish and crispy chips , fluffy on the inside. One portion was enough to share as a light lunch between 2. We got a takeaway and took it to the park nearby. The eat in prices are quite expensive but takeaway prices very reasonable.

A very high level of fish and chips, everything is prepared on the spot and with a smile, excellent value for money. A huge portion!!! Enough for two or more. The kids devoured everything. Thanks

Wow! Battered sausage and chips were crisp but not greasy and the curry sauce was absolutely electric! I was served by a lovely staff member named Stella who was quick to help with everything and had a nice chat with me. I can’t wait to try the fish next time I come back! It's one of those places to which you will always return for more. The food is very delicious and fresh with options for both vegans and vegetarians. The place has four tables outside where you can enjoy your food, but they also have tables inside where you can wait for your takeaway or just simply dining in their restaurant. The whole place has a very 'fishy' vibe and will make you hungry instantly. The staff is very friendly and I've noticed they call the cook 'chef'. Definitely recommend the Fish House. !

'A three star rating because after just eating there I am feeling nothing more than indifferent about this place. Just had a 'sit in' takeaway to save money as the empty restaurant looked way to dull and the prices were considerably higher. Food: seemed to be cooked to order as we waited 15 minutes but was nothing remarkable. Calamari was good but not even a lemon slice for a starter sized portion costing £12.80. Full order and cost will give you an idea of whether you think this is good value for a take-away. 1 x small cod and chips 1 x regular cod and chips 1 x calamari and chips 1 x mushy peas 1 x curry sauce (I know!) 1 x can of coke 1 x black tea, no sugar (£2.80??? really) Cost: £48.95 I will not be back and will not be passing on any recommendations for this place. Sorry Fish House but you are way to pricey for me......

Always a 5star experience at Fish House. The warm reception and excellent customer service from Karol and Sergio made me feel welcome. Karol is very patient, always happy to answer questions regarding the menu. Great atmosphere, clean premises.

Restaurant prices but cafe service. Fish fresh and tasty but could have been a little bigger. Food OK but can't really say it's worth the money to sit in. There was no atmosphere at all when we were there. Waitress on the day had no interest in delivering a dining or customer experience.

Soo disappointed. My Delivery of fried haddock arrived overcooked with a turned up curly tail, and thankfully it was a very small portion. Covering it in a mountain of chips could not make up for this tasteless, dry, shrivelled excuse for a battered Haddock. If it is not up to standard, you shouldn’t serve it. Will not be

Ordered regular cod & chips and must say the fish was excellent,flakey and as white as it should be with great chips. DON’T order the savaloy or sausages. Savaloy was warm bland and white inside(chicken) so not proper savaloy. I sent them straight back and replaced with sausage n batter,again chicken not pork 🤦🏻‍♂️. Summary ,great fish stay away from the sausages,unless you like imitation chicken ones.

Went for a dinner with my partner, we booked at short notice but there was ample space, so that was good. However, my haddock batter was extremely soggy in places, I mentioned this to the waitress she replied "oh, you’re not the first to say this" and then walked off. Charming. In addition to this, my partner wanted fries instead of chips, we were charged an extra £1 for this. Really? They’re the same price on the menu, yet we had to pay extra. Unbelievable. Again, I mentioned this to waitress and she replied "well, they cost more". In the end we just paid and left, it was thoroughly disappointing, we’re regulars for takeaway, we’re now contemplating somewhere different for the first time in years as it was such an awful experience dining in.

Had a very disappointing experience. Ordered a cod and chips and the cod was completely raw and couldn’t eat it had to throw it away.

I have been to the Fish House many time in the past. I have always thought their chips was one of the best chips in East London. I have not been there for a while and tonight I ordered fish cake and chips. Both were dire. Chips was so dry probably because they were left there for a very long while and the fish cake was overcooked and very dry. I have spent nearly £10 What a big disappointment. I have given 2 stars instead of none, only because I thought the front-house staff was very friendly and gave great customer service. I think chef was the reason the food was a big disappointment... I should have just gone to a simple chip shop...

Haven't been to Fish House for over a year, used to think their fish was the best outside Brighton. Had a takeaway for 5 this evening, wasn't bad but nowhere near as good as it used to be.

I've never complained on any food site before but after 2 months, I still haven't got over the tiny piece of skate they served up for me. I've eaten skate (middle) many many times

Ordered 2 x Cod and chips at £9.90 each, mushy peas, curry sauce. Lots of vinegar and some salt. Was good and tasty, only fish portoin alittle on smaller side than others places. Ketchup was at additional costs. These could have been included for value and costs. Overall, children enjoyed the food in the park element.

Supper for 6 Restaurant nearly empty. Given large table near loos - did not complain because of COVID. The loos stink. The staff know but wear masks. Offensive smell. Food overpriced. Small menu. Feta fritters excellent - all other food sub-standard. Was wonderful when it opened but it has changed hands at lest once. I shan't return.

Good service however, I was rather surprised that despite selling vegan fish, the chips were appearently not vegan friendly as the chips were kept in the same bin section as the saveloy (literally thrown in together) which lead to the chips tasting meaty due to cross contamination. Not sure why they would do this as it wouldn't take too much effort to keep the two separate, especially as they went to all the trouble of serving vegan alternative items. Definitely seem this venue is not vegan/halal friendly. Would advise you to avoid if this is a dietary requirement for you. Note: Meat items are listed on the online menu but were listed in store.

Dropped in for an early supper - sadly place deserted, no surprise, I guess, with current 'fuss'. Friendly service from Sergio. Excellent haddock/chips and cod/chips. Served hot, but not greasy - well done the cook ! OK, portions not huge and the chips were not the best we've had, but enough and quality high. Ketchup excellent. Had deep fried banana - again well cooked and not at all greasy. Prices, for London, reasonable .... try North Norfolk coast or Yorkshire for fabulous F+C at much more sensible prices ....

Esta es nuestra tienda local de pescado y papas fritas. No cenamos, solo comida para llevar, ahí es donde se tiene el valor aquí. ¡Paga un 30% adicional para sentarse en la otra habitación, cuando puede comer su caja para llevar en los mostradores largos de la primera habitación! Las patatas fritas se cortan a mano, las porciones siempre han sido grandes cada vez que hemos comido aquí. A veces se quedan sin 1 o 2 de las opciones de pescado, pero estoy de acuerdo con eso en la hora pico, ya que sabes que es fresco y solo tienen una cierta cantidad en stock ese día. Cuando se fue, se fue. El ala de rayos es la mejor aquí. Es un pez que se echa a perder muy rápido, por lo que tiene que estar fresco ese día, ¡y siempre ha estado súper fresco desde este lugar! Lo recibimos una vez al mes.

We had fish & chips here and it was fantastic. Cruchy batter, lovely pieces of cod and yummy chips. We even had dessert & the apple crumble was fresh & excellent quality. Friendly & efficient service would definitely come again. Thank you.

Food is very good and the service is quite attentive. Excellent for families with kids. Portions are good and reasonably priced. Happy to go there again.

Went for lunch with 5 friends on a recommendation arrived before 1pm only 1 portion of place available ? Got the drinks order wrong ! And one of the food orders ! Had trouble finding the fish inside the batter ! The portion of chips were hidden under the fish and were very small every plate had mountains of batter left at £150 for a lunch with only 3 alcoholic drinks I found the whole thing a disappointment and sorry to say will not return maybe they should stick to take away ! Or improve the dishes there are some great fish restaurants within a short distance must try harder !

We landed here for a plate of fish and chips. I got cod; wife got haddock. (Haddock was better). The service was pleasant all around. Prices as expected, good portions. The minuses were that the chips (fries) were not good at all. Neither of us ate many. They actually looked pretty good when the food was served, but they were mushy, uncooked and soggy. Kinda hut the whole meal. The fish was actually pretty good but the coating could have been a bit crispier for my liking. In all, an Ok meal, but I thought it would be better.

Just superb fish and chips that hit the spot every time. My son loved the scampi and I opted for the healthier grilled fish (no batter). You may pay a little more but the quality is worth it. Excellent.

OK so maybe i'm a little bit of a fan as this is only a 10 minute drive from my home but they are seriously doing it well! You can of course just have your standard F & C's to take away or sit in and eat out of the box in the cool bench table seating area they have created or head through to the restaurant for F & Cs or various different fish based options all creative and good, from Lobster bisque to fish pie. They also have a wine list which is ok and service is a nice cool approach. In the summer they have tables outside which is a nice place to be as they are bang smack in the middle of Victoria ark Village, plus there is a nice pub directly next door so a drink pre or post is a fun thing to do.

Poor quality fish in a batter that was crispy in places but far too spongy , if you tried serving it to locals in places like Whitby they would throw it back at you, simply not good enough and I won't be back.

Used to love coming here, but the quality of the fish has gone downhill, it is grey and gluey, virtually inedible. Batter too oily.

Vinimos a la Casa del Pescado esta noche para el cumpleaños de mi madre. La comida no era todo eso y bastante aceitosa, por no mencionar que era demasiado cara para lo que era. La noche fue arruinada principalmente por la mujer gerente que tuvo una oportunidad abierta con dos miembros del personal frente a todo el restaurante con la voz en alto y muy agresiva. Esto no es totalmente aceptable; Especialmente a la pobre chica que trabaja allí. ¡Ese tipo de disciplina se debe hacer a puerta cerrada, no frente a los clientes que pagan! Arruinó la tarde. Demasiado caro y no vale la pena una visita! No desperdicies tu dinero, realmente no es nada especial!

Heard a lot of good things about this place so thought to go and check it out. Ordered haddock with chips. Chips were a bit soggy and the fish batter was like a sponge full of oil! Had the worst heartburn ever. Literally felt like I drank a cup of oil.

Been going here for years. This time I had the Skate wing in batter, chips and their coleslaw. All very good, 'slaw had a good hot-pepper zing. Chips were crispy but with a lovely soft inner core.

Four of us from work went here in December for lunch and the walk from Mare Street took about 20 mins. This area has a posh village feel to it and like many areas of Hackney has seen gentrification and the cost of eating here reflects this. The restaurant has seating at the back, canteen style and it was very quiet when we were here. We all had cod & chips which was very tasty. The batter was crispy and the cod just beautiful. The chips were, well, chips. Portion size is large and I didn't eat in the evening. Expect to pay £12.50 for the food but the drinks are pricey too at £2 for a lemonade. I won't be coming here again as the food is just too expensive. I wonder if locals go here????

This used to be such a good value restaurant. But now overpriced, chips often dry and tasteless, small portions of fish. London is not the best for fish and chips but this isn't worth the bother.

Tuvimos un servicio irregular que fue una pena, ya que fuimos allí para una ocasión especial.

Visité aquí un sábado por la tarde con mi hijo de 3 años después de unas horas en el patio de recreo. Pedimos el bacalao y las patatas fritas estándar, esperamos unos 10 minutos para que llegara la comida. Tienen un poco más formal de comer en el área y sillas afuera, nos sentamos en los bancos frente al mostrador.

Esperamos 30 minutos para un 2 chips y un bacalao y una solla. Tamaño de porción decepcionante por lo que paga, considerando que está en E. London, hay muchas otras tiendas de fish and chips que dan una porción mucho más generosa por la mitad del precio. En cualquier caso, no pude terminar mi comida ya que las patatas fritas estaban hechas en exceso y todo estaba muy, muy grasoso.

If you choose a restaurant from it’s website beware! This one does not live up to it. It’s a very average cafe and expensive for what you get.

Un salto aquí, pero terminamos esperando 30 minutos para 2 chips y un cod. Larga cola para pedir luego una larga espera. Entre ese servicio grosero y cuando la comida llegó, presentación pobre. Esperábamos la comida lo harán mejor cuando se sentó a comer, pero las patatas fritas eran duras, mucho más marrón y sin sabor. El bacalao era muy normalito. Nos sentamos afuera y las mesas estaban desordenado y escasa atención a la limpieza. Por desgracia, en general muy decepcionado con este restaurante. Tanto potencial como en un sitio muy bueno. Pero yo no podía entender la larga espera. Creo una nueva manera de servir debe ser pensado como parecía que había un montón de clientes enfadados. Lo siento, no volveremos.

We were craving fish and chips so we decided to go there to take away. The lady serving us was extremely polite and nice. We had two regular portions which were very big for a very small price compared to other places in London (£ 8.6). We didn’t appreciate a lot the chips which weren’t that crispy. I would come back!!

Tasty, well presented and a great selection. Wonderful smellmwas enticing and we found a table quickly too.

We had a lovely lunch at this place today. The fish and chips were delicious and everyone in our group thoroughly enjoyed their food. The desserts are lovely too. Only thing that we were disappointed about was that after adding 10% service charge to our bill, which was over £18 on a bill of over £185, when we paid cash for the bill, despite the fact that we needed almost a fiver in change, the waiter, who appeared to be the manager of the restaurant asked if we required any change. We thought this was a damn cheek and this has made us give a score of 4 as opposed to 5. If we wanted to add an extra fiver tip, surely the change should have been brought over and we could have made our own decision about it rather than him trying to embarrass us into paying extra. Also thought he was quite rude to his staff so wasn't impressed with this man at all.

We often eat here when in London. Our recent visit was very enjoyable, both food and service. The bill came to £67 for 4 of us including extras. Their lunch menu is limited, with greater variety in the evening. The fish was perfect and they have great icecream too.

The food has never been disappointing here and is priced fairly. The menu is simple but interesting and the food tastes fresh. The staff are friendly and relaxed and the takeaway counter keeps the setting feeling informal.

This place is sooooooo good. Sunday evening treat. We had the fish finger sandwich and the cod with bubble and squeak. Friendly service too. Ended up having the sticky toffee pudding for dessert. Very good 10/10

This is my second review of this restaurant. I got the small fish and chips on way home. Absolutely delicious. Fish cooked perfectly. I can't imagine getting fish and chips from anywhere else near my house as this is so yummy and ten min drive away.

We went to the Fish House recently for the first time and had a very unfortunate experience. I'm not sure if they were having a bad day, or if it's always like this, but the service was terrible. 35 minutes for a starter and very rude staff. The starters (deep fried prawns and calamari) were very nice once they arrived. If you are going, stick the the simple Fish and Chips, the seafood pasta and risotto were not great at all, and neither was the monkfish. We also found 2 hairs in 2 different plates...not likely to go back anytime soon...

I've been here about 25 times with family / friends over the last 10 years and it has always been brilliant on every level every time. That's why I come back regularly. I have never written a negative review or complained about a restaurant before.

Muy buen bacalao y patatas fritas, si en la cara. Tuvimos que pagar extra por guisantes blandos y salsas, pero el pescado estaba bien preparado y las patatas fritas eran geniales. Pequeña porción era más que suficiente para comer.

So fish beautifully cooked. Crusty tasty batter, moist fish full of flavour. Chips delicious. Just the right amount per portion. Perfect. Have been talking it up to all my friends.
