The bees knees of a fish shop and deli. Super friendly and knowledgeable team, first class fresh fish plus the most delicious made on the premises fish dishes, pates etc, plus their now-famous cooked recipes making delicious fish accessible to newbies. Plus a good selection of round the world deli items and wines and all the gear needed to make the best paella. Always busy around festive seasons so order or visit early! We've been using Nick & Michelle's deli since it opened and have never once been anything less than charmed, satisfied, happy and ultimately so well-fed.

I have not eaten a bouillabaisse like the one made at Fish Deli. It was absolutely delicious. Will definately be back for more. You must try it!!!

Lovely place and super friendly staff. Very knowledgeable and helpful. We bought some crayfish and lobster cocktail and it is absolutely stunning.. Along with some very tasty scallops. Highly recommend this place 😍

Absolutely fantastic fishmonger. A good selection of fresh fish and the most helpful fishmonger to serve us. Willingly fileted the fish with great skill and care then even told us about a recipe for cuttlefish fish. Just a huge pity we live so far away we can't visit regularly.

Easy to order online for collection, although always plenty of fish if you forget! Fantastic quality & friendly service.

We always get our fish from here, it's great to have a local place where we know we can get responsibly sourced, sustainable and really fresh, tasty fish. Donna is really helpful and always happy to advise on what's fresh and in season, and they have plenty of other tasty stuff too. Well worth a visit.

Excellent fishmongers and deli. Go to Ella to get some bread and the fish deli for paté and sweet pickled herring. Very simple, but makes one of my favourite lunches.

Lovely shop but expensive! I was overcharged on an item and when I pointed it out (after I had paid) there was no offer of reimbursement, just a shrug of the shoulder as though to say "tough" As I was obviously a visitor, I got the impression that they knew I wouldn't be going back. Poor customer service.

Love it! I feel like a child in a sweet shop! They have so much choice of all things seafood, olives etc, pates and various houmous. Plus fish related cookware and China. Not the cheapest place but quality is excellent!

More than just fish, this is a high class deli selling local catches in a sustainable way.... You would expect to find a shop like this on High Street Kensington, but with the added bonus of good Devon customer service and prices

We had red mullet which was filleted as we waited. It was freshly caught and collected that morning. Their sustainable policy is a credit to them, and all fish sourced from Plymouth or Brixham.Nick obviously knows is stuff and gives excellent advice on how to cook the fish.

Not only does this gem of a shop have a great fish deli it has a great selection of colourful china , chopping boards, tea towels, pasta and I kept thinking of more people to buy for!

You cannot fault the freshness and quality of their food, but you need to be prepared to pay for it.Very interesting both for fresh fish and seafood but also for their home cooked meals to take away.

When visiting Ashburton, I chanced upon a delightful little shop called The Fish Deli. The decor is fabulous, and they do more than just fish. A splendid bounty of plump olives dominate the floor, which you are welcome to try before buying, among lots of other cooking ingredients and nic nacs. I was served by a very handsome young man who talked me through the bountiful arrays of pâtés and hummus'. The selection of fresh fish was immense, and although it is a little more expensive, its due to all the fish being caught locally. And we could all do with helping our neighbours really!

Whether you want wonderful fresh fish, or tasty deli snacks, or perhaps some flavoursome olives, this is the place to go. Well worth a visit when in Devon

Not a restaurant but a superb fish deli. Amazing quality freshly caught fish as well as a large selection of juicy olives. Staff are so helpful and friendly and also provide a selection of ready meals. Not to be missed if you are in Ashburton.

The selection of seafood in this deli.is amazing..The central island with ever kind of olive choices is hypnotic. My wife loves it and is pushed for choice,so buys lots. One of our essential stops on our regular bi-annual Ashburton stays.Love it!

If only all fish delis were like this one! A truly continental feel. Vibrant and full of tempting (too tempting) goodies. Loved it. It was an experience for the senses.

Spent a fortune in here over the week but worth every penny or should I say pound. Fish kebabs, humous and lovely dips. Bread was good in here too. Must go if you are a fish fan.

Such an interesting and delicious place to visit. Love the way you can buy an interesting recipe along with the ingredients for a special meal as well as there being a great & tasteful selection of food items and gifts for yourself or good friends/family.

Lots of choice, lovely staff and really high quality products on offer. Apart from fish you can buy olives, oils, organic wines, caviar, fish products (fishcake for example), home made humous, the list goes on.

Just had some of the best street food ever from outside the Fish Deli in Ashburton Devon, they did Paella , Thai fish burgers and Tuna Sashimi with salads , sauces etc. the paella was great lots of local mussels, fish , chorizo, prawns ,so tasty . Brilliant value, friendly staff who coped well with the crowds who piled in from 12 ish, we did not have to wait long for our food. The Deli itself is packed full of fishy things, excellent wet fish , dips, olives , utensils , books. The homemade fish cakes are so good I have tried them in the recent past.Real enthusiasts who care about all things fishy.

This deli is a foodies paradise. Really wonderful fish and nibbles. Plus great looking dishes and such. I love shopping here. The fish is very fresh and the service very helpful and pleasant.

Have been twice in last 2 weeks to get plaice. So plump that both sides are packed with meat. They buy from day boats so its always fresh. Was a big chunk of tuna in too so nearly had some to make sushi but just had to stick with the plaice. Great olives too ! Not cheap but worth every penny.

We shop here often and are always impressed with the high quality of thee fish on offer and the large range of pre-prepared frozen dishes. They really know their job and do it very well indeed.

We happened to drive through Ashburton and were taken by its charm. We decided to stop and have a look around. Of all the cute shops (so different from the seaside towns) we most liked The Fish Deli. It offers fresh fish, but also seafood salads, olives, nuts, oil, ceramics, etc. The thing I liked most of all is the Hummous. I would love to get the recipe. It has cumin seeds, a taste of orange. Very unusual, but really delicious.For the record, this is not a restaurant, but a shop.

This really is a great deli serving wonderfully fresh fish and deli items. We had friends down for the weekend and wanted to prepare a welcoming lunch for them so headed off to the deli. Our friends were so impressed that we had to alter our plans on the Saturday so that they could buy a selection of dishes to take back to London!!!

Have visited many times to buy the wonderful food on offer, as a Bistro owner myself I have to say it does not get better than this, well planned and prepared food of the highest quality with helpful staff-great

Nick is very help full, lots of choice and the food and meal ideas are great the fish is of the freshest and finest quality and the shop is spotlessly clean, the staff also have a really good attitude

Beautiful fresh fish deli with very knowledgable owners who also source locally where possible and are clear on their very good ethical stance on fishing. They are very clever at selling not only fresh fish but 'ready to cook' fish cakes and frozen fish (all made on site) which are great for the fish novices like myself! Also, a brilliant selection of olives, homemade houmous, local artisan bread and other bits and bobs. As the previous reviewer said theirs is not a restaurant, but great for picking up all you need for a lovely restaurant quality meal at home!
